"Free estimates" aka " Free diagnostic" not sure what they mean by that term that they use on here and on their website. I wasted my time taking my laptop in today.Called prior to going in to see if it was ok to bring in my laptop with no power issues. I was told it was fine and confirmed that I didn't need to bring any wires or accessories. Get there and I was asked by the tech for the charger which I did not have. He didn't bother even trying to connect a charger himself, he litterly just flipped the screen open and said it would be $99 to see what was wrong with it. Not sure if the flip of the screen was the actual "free diagnostic" but I didn't bother to stick around I just said no thank you and left. Mind you aside the false advertisement, $99 just for an actual diagnostic is a bit steep. Took it to Central computers off Stevens Creek and they charged me $39 for diagnostic read more

My Acer laptop was less than 3 years old and had no previous issues. Then it wasn't charging and finally wouldn't turn on. All I knew was that it was not the power cable. I called Click Away to see how soon they could have a look at it, the manager (sorry I forget his name) was very courteous and professional. That same day I was able to drop it off. Their shop is conveniently located off a not-so-busy street with close, easy parking. Kevin, the tech who had my laptop called me the next day and told me that the motherboard was fried and I would need a new laptop. Fortunately, he could get all the data off my hard drive and onto a portable drive. He also sold me a new laptop they had in stock. Same model would only have been 5% more on Amazon, unlike Amazon, I got it immediately and with the shop's own warranty (in addition to the manufacturer's), and unlike Best Buy no headache in going to get it (especially the nearest one off the Almaden Expressway.) I work from home since COVID, and use my custom built personal PC for the work week. I recently got a new motherboard, cpu, and ram and didn't want to deal with the hassle of installing myself as I'd done in the past. He tried restoring the files but could not somehow get it working. It just so happens that I was in the middle of a project which required 20 gauge stranded wire. Unfortunately there are know real electronics stores in the Bay Area anymore, so finding plain wire of this gauge was almost impossible. I went to numerous hardware stores, Best Buy, called computer stores etc. Eventually I tried ClickAway. When I called he said that they really don't sell plain wire, and I told him it seems hard to find. After we hung up he called back in 10 minutes or so, and told me to drop by and he'd see if he can help me out. The role of wire he had was too think a gauge, so he kept looking. Eventually came back with a wiring harness for a power supply or something, which happened to be perfect! He said it's all yours, I offered to pay but he refused.
