The casino is neat, clean, and attractive. The employee encounters ranged from friendly to uninterested. The newer slots function very well. However, the older slots are sadly in disrepair. The lights indicating how much you can bet do not light up and it's hard to determine what the minimum and maximum bets are. The screens are dark and some have lines through them. It's as if they don't care about the older machines and they are just filling space until they can replace them with newer slot games. One slot machine where I sat was very confusing and was not functioning properly. I called an attendant over who called a second attendant that pushed a few buttons and shook the machine, then said, it's working now. They never said that they would have someone work on the machine. In my opinion, that machine should have been shut down for service. The players club card readers on the machines do not work well. Your card has to be inserted several times before it is read. At one point I went to the Players Club desk and got a new card thinking it was my card, but it was my card, but no it was the reader. With all that said, I did enjoy my visit at Cliff Castle Casino, although it was more work than I had anticipated. Between calling attendents, getting a new card, fighting with the card readers and making sure I played long enough to accumulate enough points for the free $10 play, it was a lot of work. Once you accumulated enough points you then had to go to the Players Club and give them $20 and they would load $30 on your card.. just not worth the time and trouble. I got $20 free play on my first visit here. Unfortunately, that translated to me losing $20 that wasn't mine. Haha, plus another $20 that was in my pocket when I walked in. I still had a fun time. There were good eatery options being that they are *way* out there. Free play plus my $20 lasted us a few hours on the slots. We were able to catch the Suns game at the bar (and take advantage of the free sodas at the nearby soda fountain). We also listened in on the sound check for the concert happening later that evening. We had a gal-pal weekend and chose to stay here for its convenient location, casino, and restaurants on site. The staff was very friendly upon our arrival. Rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. The only issue I had was with the shower which was either a turbo-force gale or a trickle rain shower. Something in between would have been preferred. But it was a large, spacious shower and a big bathroom. Rooms have keurig coffee makers and a decent-sized tv. (I've been in some hotels with dinky tvs that are hardly worth the effort). This is a newer hotel added to the casino and includes a beautiful pool and hot tub area and a small workout room. It's adjacent to the casino and its cafes and steakhouse and bowling alley! I would definitely return again and hope to do so in the near future. A great value for the price of the room. I recommend. read more

We live close by and my family goes all the time to bowl and play at the arcade. They've stepped up security and today my daughter (9 years old) was stopped because she had a water bottle. We don't drink bottled water, and it's ridiculous to prevent children from bringing a water bottle. We live in Arizona, it's 100 degrees out, they should be drinking water. I guess they want to force people to buy bottled water, but whatever, they just lost our business along with other people who don't want to waste tons of plastic bottles for no reason. A couple weeks ago, we stayed at the lodge, which is a property down the hill from the casino. Had multiple problems with hotel keys not working, was actually given a key card to someone else's room, broken blow dryer, and to top it off I had to call my bank to get The two $50 charges that they put on hold off my account two weeks later. Great experience from start to finish. We left Tucson on Saturday morning and walked in to the Cliff Castle Casino Hotel without a reservation. We were looking for a king room at a decent price. The man at the front desk did some maneuvering with some discounts and gave us a king suite that was cheaper than a king room! We left to do an adventure and came back a few hours later to get our keys and head up to the room. Beautiful, huge suite that was clean, comfortable, modern and had all the amenities we could want. Bonus points for a wonderful view. The casino itself is on the smaller side but is very well maintained with excellent customer service from everyone we encountered. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants but utilized the bar. And the slots were looser than a lot of casinos we've visited. Like I said, great experience from start to finish. We've been to this casino many times since it's a short drive from the valley. This was the first time we've stayed at the hotel and it was great! We stayed in a 2 queen bed room. It was spacious and very clean. Nice big bathroom and super clean room. We enjoyed the complimentary water and coffee. The beds were a little too high for my elderly mother to get in and caused a bit of a struggle. We tried to use as many of the amenities as possible. For dinner we went to Johnny Rockets and enjoyed the friendly service and delicious food. Then we went bowling and had a fun time. After we headed to the arcade. It was really small and a few of the games weren't working. My teenager was not entertained and didn't last more than 5 minutes in there. The next morning we called for bell hop to help with our bags. Rick was knocking on our door within 5 minutes. He was fast, very friendly and helpful. I mentioned wanting to eat and Rick suggested the Mountain Springs Cafe. He said they would hold onto our bags so we could go enjoy a good breakfast. It was a good suggestion. We went and ordered pancakes, a breakfast burrito and the chicken fried chicken. The food was delicious. When we left, Rick was there to greet us at the valet and get our bags. Glenn quickly grab our car, Rick loaded our bags in the trunk and we were on our way within 5 mins. Overall, the casino was fun as always and the hotel was a great place to stay. We had a 2 Queen Room and the room size was good for 4 people. We had family come to visit so we were able to fit 6 people comfortably. We enjoyed the indoor pool. They charged a $50 incidental fee that was not mentioned on website. They don't have a microwave, the refrigerator wasn't cleaned out from previous people who stayed in room, the coffee maker didn't do hot water that well for tea. We love the shampoo/conditioner/body wash (small bottles) provided and it wasn't enough so we did have to ask for lots of extras. We did go to Johnny Rockets for dinner and other people received their food before us even though they came in after us. They did provide a discount for the trouble. Food was good. There are two properties, the lodge which is older and the hotel at casino so when you book make sure you reserve at the right location. read more

Amazing venue where there's something to do for everyone. Last night we enjoyed time at the bowling alley. Afterwards, we went to Johnny Rockets for much needed burger and soda. For the really young ones, there's a spot for then too. Parents or guardians can leave them with this security area playground where you can sign in your youngsters. The lobby is so warm and inviting. The registration desk representatives are super helpful. In fact, everyone just goes above and beyond no matter what function they do. This place has a Midwest-nice kinda a vibe in a southwest town. Sitting on top of a hill with a beautiful view, just minutes from a quaint town, makes this a great getaway. The most inappropriate experience I have ever had at a hotel. Stayed two nights at the cliff castle hotel while doing day trips to the different Native American sites. I used a restroom next to the pool. Within 30 seconds of entering the restroom someone began trying to get in through the door and violently pounding on it, as well as hitting the handicap door opener. I immediately and loudly called out "occupied". The pounding stoppped and I breathed a sigh of relief. Then to my horror 30 seconds later it happened again even more loudly and ferociously attacking the door. At this point I am completely fearing for my safety in my very vulnerable position and trying desperately to get off the toilet. The attack on the door ceases until again a few moments later it resumes. Finally I have my pants pulled up and with a rush of adrenaline I open the door fully expecting a confrontation with some psycho.The man on the other side of the door to my shock and disbelief is a hotel employee and tries to enter the single bathroom while I am in the door way. And only stops when i loudly ask "what is going on?" He would not make eye contact with me, was very rude and would give no explanation to what he was/is doing. There is a janitorial cart behind him so I assume he is a janitor. The behavior of this hotel employee was unhinged. read more

I thought I booked directly with the property, but discovered upon check in that it was with a third party. They kept insisting I had canceled my reservation. They said they were completely sold out and could not help me. After connecting with customer service with the booking company, they instructed us to go back in and they had our reservation after all. They told us to meet the manager, who was waiting at the check in desk. We made the comment to the manger, oh- you are sold out tonight and she said no, we are not sold out. All conflicting information. The bed was hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. It needed to be replaced. The water pressure in the shower was low, almost a dribble. The only reason not giving full stars is that we didn't stay long and really only ate here. However, right from the get go we could say that this place is very clean and virtually smoke free. Instead of the non smokers having a separate room, it's the smokers who have a separate room and the majority of the place, therefore, is smoke free, which was nice. A healthy variety of eateries, from expensive to less expensive to buffet, open at different hours. Friendly staff, eager to answer our questions, impressive from the outside with a grand approach (unfortunately, the parking lot smells like garbage). A great place to stop in off the highway. Pros: My husband and I come to Sedona every year around the same time. He really enjoys gambling at the casino, so this year we decided to stay at the casino. It was cheaper than our usual Sedona Hotel. In Sedona, the hotel I prefer is $800/night. Cliff's Castle Casino Hotel was like $350 for 2 nights. I loved this hotel. It was clean, clean, clean. Not a speck of dirt anywhere. The staff was really nice. It has an indoor pool and hot tub. After a long day of skiing in Flagstaff, I had the hot tub all to myself! Win. Cons: As everyone has mentioned, the front desk situation is frustrating. We couldn't find it on our own. We had to ask some people at the casino where to park and check in to hotel. $20 resort fee daily. However, it's really not that bad. It includes unlimited bottle water. Hotel is quite nice but their checking in leaves a lot to be desired. You can't check in until 4:00 which is what they tell you but they say come before and we will probably have your room ready. My husband and I came on Sunday the 4th and had to wait 30 minutes as there was a trainee, trainee that had absolutely no idea what she was doing. Bridget was training her and also trying to check in clients. The line was huge and everyone was getting upset. I guess they. Had call outs but management should have stepped in and helped-- Bridget was doing her best but it truly was not acceptable to have a trainee who looked like she had just walked on the job. read more

What a fun little casino hotel. Full disclosure I had booked the lodge nearby, when I go to the "lodge" I was quite unnerved with the outside looking less than stellar and distance from the actual casino, however I was willing to stay since I booked non-refundable and didn't want to keep driving. I essentially needed a place to work online, eat and rest and figured I'd just request somewhere I could park directly in front of door and keep an eye out. The amazing man at the front desk noticed my discomfort with the lodge, as well as probably the fact I look a little on the bougie side in appearance, and he upgraded me to a lovely top floor room inside the hotel. It was a beautiful view, they do provide water bottles, glasses and a good brand of coffee and tea. They provide creamer cups not that awful powdered creamer as well. The shower was lovely, had hot water and good water pressure. There were two shower heads which I enjoyed the options of overhead and standard angled flow. The buffet- well, it isn't Vegas and isn't trying to be Vegas. if you like fried food it's filled with that; I don't eat fried food but the salad part was fabulous! There was a wide variety of veggies, crispy fresh greens, various dressings and some decent cold salads to add to the side. Between the salad and the desert, with a cup of coffee or soda it's well worth the money. I spent more on a Johnny rockets salad the first night than the Buffett the second night and the canola desert to boot... so yummy. Staff everywhere in this hotel is friendly, accommodating and non intrusive. I don't have children but they offer a kids drop-off in a game room for those wanting to have grown up time. I didn't use the pool or hot tub, however, it looked really nice and there's an outdoor section next to it for a little fresh air break. read more

We decided to enjoy the afternoon with some lunch and gambling. The lunch was horrible. We ate at the Mountain Springs restaurant in the casino. My lunch was burnt. I mean literally charcoal. I had a veggie burger. When I brought this to our waitress attention. She stated veggie burger need to be cooked a little longer. When I showed her my burnt burger. Then I asked explain why my hamburger bun was burnt as well. I showed her the edges of the bun the color of charcoal. I will never eat there again. Never mind our food took over 20 minutes to be brought to our table. Although, the food was hot when it arrived, so not a server problem, a kitchen problem. We will NEVER eat there again. read more

We have been coming to this casino for years especially on Wednesday for seniors day. They used to give seniors free coffee, $10 free play prizes and reduced breakfast the next week. ALL of this has changed. They don't give anything free Once you earn 1,500 points you get Some free play. Same with food. Our room was very nice and valet service was excellent. We had tickets for a comedy show in the ballroom and left after 10 minutes. The sound system is so bad we couldn't understand one word. We found a bar and had a drink. My husband had a beer which was fine but I ordered a gin and tonic and the tonic was flat. Decided to grab a bite to eat . OMG big mistake. I ordered the only soup they had which was tomato and it tasted just like the can it must have came from. My husband ordered shrimp and fries. Fries were barely done and although there was a large portion of shrimp it was sub-par small shrimp right out of a already breaded freezer bag and the fryer oil was so close to rancid I could smell it right when the server put the plate down. Also they have a smoking section and people go in and out so frequently that the glass doors are hardly ever shut and that horrible smoke comes out constantly AND it's right next to the restaurant where we were trying to eat . School lunchrooms serve better food and the cost for this trajic mistake on Sunday was $30 each! It should be free. Some salad blah blah, and bacon, eggs, sausage, dry pancakes, pot roast, tater tots, waffle fries, mini fried hot dogs, some rusty chicken parts, honestly so awful. How can you charge people for that. I was more upset about paying for the rubbish than dropping $300 in the casino. In fact the it's the next day and I'm still sick about that and mad at myself I didn't ask for a refund after looking at the pathetic offering.
