This has got to be the best coastal view in SoCal with free parking, free entertainment (gliders, dogs, navy jets, falconry, and good people watching) and great prices at the Cafe!! That said the crew that works the cafe /bar could make it SO much better with a little extra effort on the service. A smile, a thank you for your patience, and a free soda refill without waiting in the bar line would be amazing. read more

This place....just wow. The food could have been garbage and I would still love coming out here for the views and to watch the paragliders. But the food was delicious. And they have hand-made, wood fired pizza. My kinda place. The service was nice and efficient but the food is all done food truck-style so there wasn't too much interaction to report. There are plentiful food and drink options, and I opted to get the bianca pizza as recommended by the employee. This was an amazing spot to view people paragliding right above the ocean. The vibes were there, good choice in relaxing reggae music, good food (chicken Caesar wrap highly recommend) & brick oven margharita pizza. Only critiques was their bottled diet Dr Pepper was expired and every single porta potty around the facility was filled to the rim and had no toilet paper.. understandably it's right by the beach but it did not seem like they have been checked on all day. This is such a top tier cafe and bar I don't have the words to emphasis that enough. Obviously the view is a 10/10 but THE PEOPLE are absolute legends. The sandos and wraps hit the spot everytime and THE COOKIES omg. There's a gal behind the bar named Mo and she is such a gem I've had to tell the manager how awesome she is a few times and that guy is equally as cool!! You can tell they love where they work and it makes the experience that much better! Nasty kitchen not in compliance with any health codes. Just watch from the side window and you will see. The health department would close this place in a heartbeat. Service is usually slow and a few employees including the pizza lady are nuts. read more

Beautiful views, great people, and dog friendly. What more can you ask for? Aside from their regular menu of sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, they also have pizza. Got the Blanca pizza with tomatoes and pepperoni on top but the cashier wrote peperoncinis instead lol anyway it still was delicious. The hotdog combo with fries was good too, nice toasted bun and fries that needed salt but good thing they had some. You need to try their ranch here- pretty bomb. Beware of the wasps and yellowjackets here because they quite literally robbed me of my limonata Sanpellegrino by going inside and flying around me the whole time. Anyway, definitely a must visit if you're in the area. Plenty of parking but it does get pretty packed. read more

What a fun place! And, the food is excellent too. We enjoyed the burger and pizza. Open seating, dogs welcome, and great entertainment watching the glide port action. I have heard about this place for years, but couldn't find a lot online about it! My bestie was in town so we decided to make it an adventure, and I am super glad we chose Cliffhanger Café. Food: 5/5 It's a café, not fine dining! It's your basic burgers, salads, soups, and sandwiches! But they got it right. The portions are generous, and the food is solid. Service: 5/5 You order at the counter and then wait for your food. There is plenty of seating around, and the people working at the café were very pleasant. Ambiance: 6/5 You've got a love a show with your meal! We had the best time watching the paragliders takeoff and land. I was a little bummed because it was a cloudy day, and I was really missing the San Diego sun! However, the gray skies did not detour away from the gorgeous ocean views, and the fun ambience of the paragliders flying right over you! At one point and mom flew over us and her kids were at the table next to us and they completely lost it! They were so proud of her and went running up to her when she landed! It really doesn't get better. The energy and fun spirit of the paragliders trickles over to the café, and it's just a good vibe.! This place is totally funky! I came here after paragliding with a tandem partner before heading off to meet the captain for a sunset sailing excursion. I ordered a delicious roast beef sandwich and a soda before rushing off to my next event. This place is fantastic for watching all the paragliders and is also a great spot to meet international people from all over. Now that I know this place exists, I might just swing by for its tasty food or occasionally return for some paragliding fun! Just went today 10/12/25, ordered 2 sandwiches 2 pizzas. Took 50 mins for sandwiches 1hr for pizzas. There were way too many flies. Trash cans full. 6-7 porta potties none had toilet paper and were gross inside. No sinks to wash hands either. Through the sandwich pick up window I could see flies inside landing on food and the pizza had good flavor but only 1 worker and was handmade but the pizza layer was super thin causing the pizza to be soggy and couldn't eat like pizza, had to roll onto the edge and eat like a burrito or eat with a fork like a salad because the bottom crust was thin and soggy. I would have tried a drink but the line was very long. They did have more workers at the bar than they did in the food area. I would love to go back, maybe when not too busy but not sure i would ho for drinks if i knew Id have to pee in nasty porta potties. This park is beautiful and this place would be amazing if there was good management. The restaurant really needs to be cleaned, fans added to keep flies away, and more cooking staff. read more

I was staying at the Estancia Resort and Spa down the road and wanted a cheap breakfast nearby. I came across "Cliff Hanger Cafe" on yelp but wasn't sure if they would have much food/drink options. I wasn't expecting much but when I finally arrived they had a lot more than I expected. Not only that but the quality was great. The kitchen seemed to be a mobile trailer with hot griddles and the chef was cooking everything fresh. My boyfriend and I shared a breakfast burrito. It was huge and really delicious. This place is seriously the coolest. It has the best view, some of the best drinks and honestly the food is pretty good too for a little cafe on the water. I went for the first time a couple weeks ago and I cannot stop thinking about it. We didn't get a chance to fly with the others that day (we will be back!) - but we did get a chance to meet Nick at the bar and have him introduce us to the best aperol spritz I've ever had. That drink is the perfect patio pounder to chill on when watchin the waves go by. He gave us the rundown of food and drinks and keep things flowing for us all night. Thanks for your help Nick! My family met up with some friends for a hike at Torrey Pines then headed over here for late lunch and drinks. The meh- food takes a long time to come out because of how long it takes to cook. The porta potties left a lot to be desired. I guess the city doesn't come out on holiday weekends or weekends in general because the 5/6 they had were some of the worst things I've ever seen in my life, and I was born in a third world country. If you have to go #2 you'll have to hold it or go beforehand. This may have been a holiday weekend thing, so others may have had differing experiences. Plan accordingly. All in all I'd still go back there again with my family/friends. If you like to eat outdoors with good scenery and being relaxed you ought to try this place at least once. read more

We stopped here with some friends, but the customer service from the two gentlemen in the bar area was very rude, especially the one covered in tattoos. I wouldn't recommend ordering a pizza here--it takes about 30 minutes on average. When I went to the counter to ask about our pizza, I was told it would be another 10 minutes and that it was in the oven. I asked the older blonde lady, and she also said 10 minutes. When I mentioned it had already been 55 minutes, her reply was simply, "OH WELL." We asked for a refund, but the tattooed guy said they don't give refunds and that I'd either have to wait for the pizza or he'd give it away for free. It ended up taking 70 minutes, and when it finally arrived, it wasn't what we ordered. Thankfully, a young lady with her left arm in a sling helped us and refunded our money--she was the only one willing to help. The two gentlemen's customer service was extremely unprofessional, the older lady making the pizza was disrespectful and had an attitude, and the older gentleman calling out numbers was also rude when I asked about my order. read more

The entertainment ranges from watching people hang gliding, parasailing, and generally hanging out and enjoying life. What makes this place is the view! You get to watch people take off and hang glide off the cliffs. You get a beautiful view of the ocean with balcony seating. The downside are the bathrooms- it's a port-a-potty situation, so be emotionally prepared. The food is freshly cooked to order. The seating is all outdoors and more of a picnic table situation. You can hang glide without a reservation, so just show up and enjoy a snack while you wait for your turn! read more
