Very cool location! Wide food selection, I'm a vegetarian and was even able to easily get them to modify the Chefs Salad for me (which was plenty big enough) as well as my meat eating counterparts. Kathy (I believe that was her name) is an adorable character and took great care of us. I will admit that I have passed this place for years. But after reading other reviews, my 10 year old and I decided to check it out. So glad we did! We both got cheeseburgers. This is a real old fashioned burger! Super juicy, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles. My son said that it is second only to In-n-Out Burgers in California- Very high praise!! Parking stinks, so be very careful. Back in if possible. You feel like you have stepped back in time, and the quality of the burger reflects that as well. This place is a gem! We came in with 3 adults and 6 kids. (One adult visiting us from San Diego). We put the kids at the counter and we sat in a booth. The waitress was wonderfully kind, sweet and attentive. It was like we were her family and she was happy to see us. She took great care of the kids and made sure they had everything they needed. Between all of us, we had salads, cheeseburgers, fries, chili cheese fries, a BLT, country fried steak, rolls, cornbread and seriously the best sweet tea I've ever had. Everything tasted great and was very reasonably priced. Our food came out fast and was prepared perfectly! After the meal, we even stayed around and chatted a while with the employees. All of them were exceptionally kind and attentive. All in all, we had a GREAT experience for lunch. Our visitor absolutely loved it. We will be back anytime we are in the area! In this day and age of "hipster" (snooty) service and over-priced hamburgers, it's so refreshing to have a great burger (that's about 1/4 the price of what you'd pay in Louisville) with great service. When I pointed out the meat served to my child was spoiled and that my meal was missing a side (which I was charged for), a woman behind the counter told me I was wrong, and did not deduct anything from the bill. This is a cool little place. Good country food. I had some chili dogs that were good.

They're closed down now, but they were the best restaurant in town. Great milkshakes, great burgers, a different home-cooked meal every day of the week (chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, etc). I regret that I discovered them right before they closed down. read more

I have been eating at Cliffside for more years than I care to count....it was the "go to" place for lunch when I worked in the city. They have the best burgers and cheeseburger platter around. I have never had a bad experience at Cliffside. Waitresses are friendly and give excellent service and attention. Definitely a great find for those traveling through our little community. read more

I love this place for breakfast or lunch! The staff here is great and very friendly! The food is fresh and always tasty! The name the best BLT here. And if you ask super nicely they will even put an egg on it. They also serve fresh dipped ice cream and have my favorite Superman! Take everyone you know to this dive. It's all a heart attack on a platter but tasty. Burgers are hand pressed (no gloves ). Staff is friendly and down-home like. Historic pictures of the restaurant on the walls are very cool. My wife and I had dinner there last night. Great old fashioned country style diner. Limited seating, but the food was delicious! Nice menu selections. We both had their meatloaf and it was made old style with egg, and a mix of finely diced veggies. Will definitely stop by next trip through Frankfort, KY. Loved this place. Found it in an online search for a diner in KY. About 10 minutes off of the interstate, tucked back on a winding road. Classic diner food. Barstools at the counter and a few booths. We arrived about 2 pm and it was full, but I can imagine it is really crowded at lunch. Greasy in the most wonderful way. Kids enjoyed chicken fingers and fries. We had BLT (fabulous) and Cheesburger (really good!) There's also ice cream and pies for dessert. Ended up sitting next to the owner's daughter. Sweet family. Added bonus: KY state capitol building is just a little farther (3-4 minutes) down the road. Worth a drive around it. Tucked back in a neighborhood with beautiful grounds. read more

This is the 4th time I've been here and I really like the place. The mashed potatoes are the best I've ever had (yes, I'll drive 30 minutes for them). I'm not a pepsi drinker so I can't say I like the soft drink selection but the milkshakes more than make up for not being able to have caffeine poured into my glass every 15 minutes. The fried chicken is very good as are the burgers. The open face is pretty good too, but if you want a carb heavy treat to put you in a food coma, just get a double helping of the mashed potatoes, and 2 buttered/toasted rolls. Great, now I have to go back again today. Which leads to my only complaint, it's a small place with good food but it does get kind of warm inside in the summer. read more

I used to eat here all the time, but haven't been back in several years. From what I understand, the business had a complete makeover. Food was alright. Nothing special or outstanding. I got the cheeseburger and fries. The burger itself was pretty dry. Fries were good, pretty crispy. I was full off of it. For the price, it's not a bad deal. It was about $6 or so for it. There is a meal option, you get a drink for about 60 cents more. Got it to go, so can't comment on the service. read more
