I asked the short haired lady to blend the back a bit and she was visibly annoyed. I barely said any words and was nice when I said it, almost apologetic cuz I felt bad even asking. She sprayed his hair then brushed it and looked at me and I said just blend it a bit so it doesn't look like two lengths. She just stood there so I said that's fine. I was long due for a hair cut since early this year and found this place to be opened during COVID. Jenny only accepts walk-ins and there is a front door parking lot. From other Yelp reviews, I thought it was an outdoor salon, but I was inside the whole time. I was the only customer there when I arrived around 2:30 on Friday and she immediately sat me down and wore a mask so I felt safe. I showed her a picture of what I want (blunt bob cut) and she started doing her magic. Jenny is pretty chatty and friendly and told me a lot about her life but she took her time with my haircut. Although it's just a bit shorter than what I'd hope for, I don't mind it at all. She did take down my name and number due to some policy. The lady gave me a really messy haircut. My sides were not even and she argued with me about it. She did not know what a taper was and instead showed me her version which was way off then proceeded to tell me "you see". If you wanted a quick cut, then I would maybe go. I'm usually pretty understanding and accepting towards different styles of cuts but this one was quite disappointing. I will not be coming again. I was looking for an outdoor hair salon to take my nephew for a haircut and found Clips N Cuts. They have created an awesome outdoor salon with 2 stations properly social distanced from each other. The hairdressers wear masks the whole time and when a new client walked up without a mask, the stylist told him he had to wear one in order to be served. The waiting area (rear of outdoor salon with a tent covering) has foldable chairs so you can sit 6 ft or more from other waiting perspective clients. The stylists were super nice, professional, and did great quality work. My nephew's cut was done in about 25 minutes which was a first. Usually it takes at least 45 mins. Lastly, the price was right...$14. Great value and great cut. We will definitely be coming back. I am very thankful that they have a setup outside that I feel comfortable going to. We all must stay safe. P.S. They don't take appointments but it is ok because they seem to be pretty efficient. We had 2.people ahead of us and only waited about 20 mins. I do not believe in paying $30 for a trim, so I always run into bad experiences at Great Clips and Super Cuts all around the bay area (I've had a a stylist mess up my hair and compliment herself). I usually cut my own hair, but I spend over an hour to get it right. I have long thin but wavy hair. I decided to try Clips N Cuts due to the Yelp reviews. It was a bit hard to find for me, because I did not expect it to look like a duplex with a tiny parking area in the front. I walked in and a nice Vietnamese lady took me in. She listened to how short I wanted my hair cut. It was in layers and still growing out, but now I wanted a blunt cut to give my hair a fuller look. Although this is a very easy job, she took her time (15 minutes) to cut carefully and make sure that it's not too short, as if often the case! True to my desire, she cut only three inches off and modestly trimmed my bangs. I paid my $15 + tip. I highly recommend her for people with wavy/straight hair! read more

So it's just about closing time for this little stop and chop when I drove by with my serious NAPS...I gave them a ring and a gentlemen answered the phone with a great attitude. Good ol' At&t wasn't letting us have a decent conversation so I just stopped in. There was one guy in the chair getting a fade...The two stylists were very nice and told me it would be just a moment. I got in the chair for a trim around 7:25 and was done at about 7:45. Jenny took great care of me with no interuptions. I asked her to wet my hair after she was done and she gladly did so. I was very happy with the end result. Prices are as follows::: Women: 13 Men: 10 Children:9 I asked her how much for color (long hair) she said $45...for Chi hair dye...not toooo shappy. I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. My boyfriend and I went in to get him a routine guy haircut. At first glance, this place looks, okay is, kinda ghetto. This was the best hair cut I've had in a long long time. I walked in, no wait in the middle of the day on a Thursday. Peter helped me, and he was quick, precise, and gentle. The fade is even, and he blended the tight sides to the length on top wonderfully, despite my thining wavy hair texture. He even went in to trim my beard and with litttle direction he made it look better than anything I've done for myself at home. I've been searching for a new shop that can work with my hair type for a couple of years now. It got so bad for awhile that I taught myself to clip my hair myself. About 4 months ago I used a gift certificate for a high end salon that had me leaving in tears over the monstrosity the woman butchered onto my head. (It was so horrifying I've spent that time under bandanas and hats.) I let it grow out and came here after multiple recommendations. I'm soooooo glad I did. They were able to shape my hair into something that can grow out into a decent style. They didn't do any cutting without thoroughly explaining why and how it would help the style grow out. I was really happy that she asked me more than once if it was okay to go shorter to aid the style. I was happiest with the fact that she took the time to go over a few styling options for the cut she gave me as it grew out. It's not the cut I would have chosen but it looks fantastic and will grow out well. If they can fix that bad of a hack job and make me happy to look in the mirror, it's a testament to their skill. read more

I've been here about 5 times now, I come here for a quick cut after work about every 2 weeks, I'm pretty sure I've had everyone who works there cut my hair now.. The best ones are the 2 younger viet ladies and the older gentleman. The other stylists aren't worth noting, for now I gotta remeber to get the right people to cut it. From the outside this place looks kinda janky, but don't let looks fool you, they do a good job and for only $11! Seriously regret not waiting for my usual barbershop. I found this place on yelp saw the reviews and figured it would be OK my usual spot was closed for the day and I needed a cut. Place is small but not a bad atmosphere. That's about all the positive things I have to say. I sat in the chair farthest right and had the gentleman as my barber he asked how I wanted it I specifically told him a half on the sides and a 3 on top and to please keep the line low right at the tip of my ears a medium fade pretty much it started well he kept the line where I asked so I figured he could handle it. (now things go downhill) he ran the Clippers over the top with the number 3 blade and then started to blend and fade my hair little by little it went higher and higher I couldn't see where he was cutting because he was in front of the mirror but once he moved everything was bad I had a crew cut literally a high and tight fade idk what you wanna call it but it was nothing like what I asked I should have just been bald. The situation is worse because I do have a tattoo on my head I understand that was a decision I made and I live with but regardless I specified how I wanted my haircut for that reason seems like once he couldn't get it to blend right he just did his own thing I haven't had my hair this way since I was 13 so seriously upset will never visit this place again if your into the high and tight bald fades this could be your spot but if you have more specific looks your going for there are better places out there. I give it two stars because if this was the fade I asked for I would be happy they were polite enough didn't talk much tho so maybe I should do one star........ Decisions decisions...... read more

I found Clips N Cuts on Yelp when I was in dire need of a haircut and nowhere near my regular barber shop. The barber shop is fairly small with only a couple of parking spaces. I actually passed by without even realizing it. There is not a lot of room for multiple customers here. I think I saw 3 chairs total. Luckily there was only 1 other guy besides me. I wonder what its like when this place is busy, and where would you even park? Judging by the women's accent that was cutting my hair, I was worried she wouldn't understand the way I was describing to cut my hair. However, I must say that my hair ended up almost exactly the way I wanted. And anytime you leave a barber shop happy that's a good thing. I feel like the barber shop is decorated in a rather unique way. Seems like lots of random things everywhere, including Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling. The woman cutting my hair didn't talk to me much, but they do have TVs at each chair for the customer to watch so that had my full attention anyways. She did accidentally knock my sunglasses on the floor though, and they were my nicer pair. I didn't mind but I could see how some people would be pretty upset. This place is VERY affordable!! And they don't push any products on you! Going to a new barber is always a big risk, but Clips N Cuts handled it that's for sure. Great haircut. read more

Got a few haircuts here... the first time the asian guy cut my hair.. did a pretty decent job other the cutting it too short on top... even though i repeatably told to trim a just a bit. The next couple of times got a haircut from the woman that works there.. she did a better job overall. Now just recently got a haircut from the asian guy again... wow.. terrible is an understatement! 1. i specifically told him to just trim a half inch on top. He ended up cutting about 2 inches. (almost a buzz cut) 2. he cut it lopsided... cut off more on top on one side of the head then the other. 3. cut way too much around the ear. The closest this idiot should get to any cutting utensils is gardening shears. read more

Peter's the best and he takes pride in his place. 1st off they have DVD screens at each chair and the sound system set up throughout. He plays live DVDs from his favorite bands. So far I've seen Santana, Michael Jackson, The Eagles and .... the Pussycat Dolls yesterday. After my 4th haircut, I can safely say that Clip N Cuts is the best haircut I've had for the $10.95 price. However, my review will solely rest on Jenny's scissors. She has cut my hair four times and each time I've come away pleased, sharper, and more confident. Gosh, I don't want to sound like a Super Cuts commercial. The barber shop is fairly small, with about three stations to cut hair. There are TVs and magazines to pass the time. The wait can be a lot sometimes, but all of the stylists do their absolute best to move the line along. The longest it has taken was about 30 minutes, but that was during a busy New Years Eve. The shortest time was about 10 minutes, while waiting for a spot to open up. I'm not very particular with my needs. When it comes to haircuts, my vocabulary is boring and limited: short, trim, cut sides more, etc. Still, I get a feeling that despite my lack of expression, Jenny knows how to make me look good. That's all I can ask for. I'd definitely recommend this place for guys looking for a sharp, inexpensive, fast haircut. Haven't read many reviews from females though. There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said about the quality of work for the price at this little 3 chair operation, but for $10 plus tax, you really can't beat it for guys. Jenny and Peter have always cut my hair to my specifications and sometimes made suggestions that I didn't consider and it always worked out well. The last time I asked for a wash after the cut, Jenny almost put me to sleep. It was like getting a massage! Parking is limited to 4 spots up front but there are another 4 spots in the rear if you want to risk driving under the small overhang. They take reservations so if you don't want to wait in line, just give them a call and they'll set you up. All in all, I've become a regular at the shop. read more

Ok, I've gone to this place three times now, and had my hair cut by both the husband and wife. They are both excellent at cutting hair! Yes, the barber shop is very small, and it's tucked away, but for me, that's not a problem. As others have mentioned, there are TVs and magazines to pass the time. But do keep in mind that it's situated on a busy street (Bascom) with limited parking. When it comes to my haircuts, the price and the ability of the person doing the cutting to follow instructions are both key. I couldn't be happier on both these counts. The Good: They understood my directions to the T!! I have gone to numerous salons, barbers and other hair stylist and no one has understood what I wanted. I have even gone as far as to draw up some sketches for a few people. Well the people got it right!! Came in with my son. He and I were greeted right away and sat shortly after. We had similar cuts so I told the dresser the same thing. To my amazement I had not one adjustment or complaint. I was so happy. They also have some of the latest magazine on display, great selection of hair products, good decor, lollipops at will and they have 2 refrigerators with soda/water/energy drinks etc and chips. The Not So Good: I will give them 5 stars as what I write here should not merit a dock in star value. But I will say that my son has never gotten "lined up" and they did this without asking me. I do not like that for him. He is only 5 and like to keep him as clean cut as possible without hair growing back in the spot they cut. Another thing that I didn't like so much was they music they were playing. Please put some sports or news on; 1980's music is chill but not music you would listen to at a pharmacy or doctor's office. I have been going to Clips N Cuts for over 3 years now and still like it. Everytime I go there, which is every two weeks, I always been greeted by a welcoming Peter and Jenny. Their salon is always organized, neat and clean. It went through a lot of redesigning, thanks a lot to Peter, who did most of it. Both of them are pretty good hairstylists. Just let them know what you want and they'll do it. Also, I never had problems of waiting since I usually go weekday mornings. And last, the Music. I think this is the only Salon that plays Music Videos in the area. With this, you enjoy going to a Salon. Not only you can chat with good people but the time you spend there makes it more of a joy than a chore. Just try it! Fast forward to 2017, it's been almost 10 years and I still go to these good people. They are still the best! read more

As a grad student, you have to be willing to try new things in order to not look like a shaggy beast! This place has tons of character. I don't know how to explain it. The first time for a trim with long hair -- she did a nice job of evening it out and listened when I said I preferred to cut my own bangs. (Pretty sure an expensive salon would give me a frowny face if I told them I liked to cut my own bangs!) The second time, my hair was shorter and I was more apprehensive. I had gotten a pixie cut before but it was growing out too long and I couldn't afford to go back to the other place I got my hair cut. Short haircuts are easy to mess up on women. Even though they didn't razor it, their thinning scissors and everything did quite a nice job for less than 1/4 of the price I paid for my previous haircut. The woman who cut my hair worked fastidiously on it until it looked good. The only reasons for 4 stars rather than 5 are that the parking situation is not great and that both times, they've cut off a little bit more hair than I'd hoped. Plus it's been rare for me to wait longer than 30 min, but if they keep up the good work, I might have to start calling in 2 weeks prior for an appointment. Store front doesn't immediately flag down passerbys because it looks like a normal house unless you see the plain store sign at the top. In the past, I have been spoiled by having my haircuts and colors by friends who are fantastic hairsylists. I recently moved to the area and was hesitant on getting my haircut. A couple of months ago, the mister found this location on Yelp and have been going here regularly. So as I looked over the reviews, there were a lot of positive reviews for women's cuts. So I decided that I would put my trust with Yelp. I walked in and luckily there wasn't a wait. I didn't get the stylists' name, but she was very friendly. She asked what I wanted to do and I showed her a picture. I asked for trim and some more layers. Since I haven't trimed my hair for almost a year, she took about an inch of dead ends off, which was much needed. In the end, I was happy with the cut.
