Cathy did a great job cutting my 4 year old son's hair! It was the first time I didn't feel like he just had an "okay" haircut, but instead he got a "great" one! I didn't get the name of the other stylist who cut my 10 year old daughter's hair, but she listened well and it also turned out great! My daughter was very happy. And pricing was on point! A short drive from my home and I was in and out in around 20 minutes. Perfect for a workday lunch break. I was the only customer at noon on Wednesday, so I was seen immediately. The hairdresser was super sweet and friendly. She gave me a trim, and then made adjustments when I asked to have it a bit shorter. After the cut she took her time to give me tips on aftercare as well. I've shown up here multiple times at 10am when they open. Every-time they are ~20 minutes late to actually pull in the parking lot, open the door then they apologize and make you wait another 15 mins while they set up. Set your open time to 10:30 if you're not really there and ready until 10:35am. Bad customer service. All this torture for a cheap sub-par haircut that friends and colleagues laugh at (you get what you pay for). read more

Second time here in a few years and the biggest factor for me is I like getting a simple trim and not paying an outrageous amount. It is a no appointment, walk in only service so I got there before opening on Saturday morning and was able to have my haircut first by Jessie. I had gotten it by Kate the first time, and happy to see there are two stylists as there were already 3 others waiting by the time they opened at 10 AM. Jessie and Kate both cut similarly and was happy with the quick haircut that removed all my dead ends. Hair felt healthy again! This is a no frills place where you don't get a wash, condition, etc. which is fine by me as I prefer washing my hair when I get home after. BUT both times, I took a chance and had Thuy (sp?) cut my hair. I have to say, the price is super reasonable - I think it was $30 without tip. I got an A-line bob both times, and I think I'm committed to this place! Thuy was super friendly both times but not like a Chatty Cathy, either. Have you ever been to a hairdresser/manicurist and walk away with a haircut/painted nails and feel awful about yourself because they just criticized you, your appearance, and/or life decisions (how come you don't have kids?!, you have pimple on your chin - what happened?). I have been coming here since I moved back to the bay area last year and it is worth the drive from Palo Alto. Thuy and Kate (the owner) have both cut my hair and have done fabulous jobs each time. I got my first shaggy mullet here and have since grown it out into a bob. I usually get blunt bangs cut here too. If you're looking for a no-frills place that cuts hair almost exactly like the picture you show them, this is the place! You also can't beat the prices. For the quality of the haircuts I have received, I can't believe the cost, especially in a place as expensive as the bay area. WHY I WENT HERE: - I've been holding off on getting a much needed trim for my hip-length hair - I'm always down to try new places to compare/contrast the cost and the service - since I had an office closure for the holidays, I decided to look up places that were nearby where I live - I called the day prior to me actually coming in to see how it works - since it's a first-come first-serve establishment, I decided to come in once I had a few other errands to run, which was great because I didn't want to feel time constraint for a place I've never been to before THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - if it wasn't for the sign off of Camden Ave and New Jerse Ave, I would have overlooked this establishment - located in a small plaza shared with 7-Eleven THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - small - clean - bright - modern - straight-forward (just haircut/styling stations and one or two hair washing stations) CUSTOMER SERVICE: - I came in, was greeted instantly (and enthusiastically), asked the purpose of my visit, I informed the young lady that I was there for a hair trim and she seated me immediately - she proceeded to work on me with my hair trim after I advised that I would defer to her for her best judgment on what was necessary for the trim and that I'd like a rounded bottom - I appreciated that she didn't drench my hair in water before trimming my hair - I loved that she styled it before handing me the mirror so I can approve or comment on the trim to see if adjustments needed to be made - right after the trim and styling I was able to pay for the service + tip via card on their iPad, which was SUPER convenient for me - $30 for a trim seemed standard to what I've experienced in the past, so I didn't have any issue with it, especially since I received fast and satisfactory service read more

I've been here once before several years ago and really liked the haircut. When I heard they were open for outdoor business I called and made an appointment. They have a nice set up, although with the hot temperatures they had challenges. Still, the haircut was great and the price was right. They have set ups both in front of the store and to the back of the store. I felt like I got a high-quality haircut even though they had to improvise with extension cords. This is my fourth time coming to this salon. The first three time was good experience, the staff were friendly and answered the phone rather quick and good communication. But today I went again and had a bad experience. I sat down at the desk right next to the entrance door, the lady who cut my hair was either slacking off, rather new, or just didnt know what she was doing. She held my head too hard at most time, especially when trimming the back of my head. I have never encounter this problem before. Usually when trimming the sides you do it multiple times to get a better and even out shape, but she just trim it twice on both sides and done. She hardly cut the top of my hair and the front as well. After finishing the haircut she hold the mirror and ask me what I thought. I told her I didn't like the bottom back of the hair as it was round shape, i told her i would like it faded, she said no problem and did it, which was fine. then I realize she did not cut my sideburn so I just asked her to trim them. She didn't ask me how long and how would I like it (sharp cut or faded), and even without looking into the mirror to measure both sides and start trimming!! She said she use the inner ear line as the point of cutting the sideburn, without checking and balancing both sides out. If my ears are level and symmetrical it will work but not mine, my left ear was slightly higher than the right, so what she used to measure the height of my sideburn was not balance at all. As she barely cut the front I ask her to just slightly cutting a little bit of my front left as it was still sticking out like a porcupine.Then she started to get impatient and annoyed as she said she did everything even and perfect. I was like okay, so can I have any preference or opinion after your cut my hair? That's the reason why you take out the mirror to ask me right? She just took the scissors and CHOP, "Done" she said. I rolled my eyes big and was in total shocked. She was annoyed and couldn't accept anymore comments, As she made everything even and perfect like she said. So she just remove the cape and ask me to pay. She didn't even bother to putting gel or anything. Did not bother to ask. If her craftsmanship, skill, and customer service was on par like the other staff, I would not have to correct or "fine-tune" the hair cut afterwards. And this part is also part of the haircut process, to communicate through out + at the end of the . It is sad to see her unskillful manner and being unprofessional. Really disappointed today. I would give 1 or even 0 star to her, but I give two stars just because of the past experience, and I left a 20% tips for the salon. I will avoid finding that lady again and get another one (today is Saturday and her station is right next to the door entrance). Please see photo. We drive 40 minutes each way to get our hair cuts here and it's worth it every time. It's a little hidden hair salon that specializes in one thing, hair cuts. I love that there are no chemical smells because all they do is haircut and occasionally hair spray. It's an upscale little shop that has amazing hair stylists who cut and style hair for everyone from kids to adults. Super reasonably priced, around $50 for my hair to be washed and cut and my hair is 15 inches past my shoulders. They are great with kids, and they keep the shop really clean, sanitizing between customers. I spoke with one of the staff about why they are walk-in only and it's because too often clients would be late or miss appointments and they found they can accommodate more people with their walk-in policy. Luckily there is a Starbucks and a Target down the street you can run errands after you sign-in. It's well worth the wait, and we've happily waited an hour on busy days. Highly recommend coming before 2pm for shorter waits. Weekend mornings are best if you want short waits. Obviously they are amazing because lots of people are willing to wait for their cuts. Love them and we are more than happy to come get our hair cuts here every 6-8 weeks! Our child is on the spectrum and we struggle with her hair and we are so glad for Haircuts Only who helps maintain her hair. They deep wash it and make sure to cut it to help make it easy to maintain. So grateful for this fantastic salon and their amazing stylists. read more
