ACROSS THE BOARD. i found kinsla on style seat after hours of searching for someone to cut my hair. i was looking for a very specific cut. through her photos, i could tell she had the skill for the cut. i booked a phone consultation and told her the style i was trying to achieve. she reassured me and made me feel very comfortable with booking her. i arrived to the salon and was greeted promptly. it was definitely giving saturday morning salon im used to. community and pop culture talk. just girl time. the other stylists were very nice and had clients. kinsla walked me to her room to begin service. she gave me another briefconsultation and let me know exactly what she intended to do during the appointment. i loved that she guided me and again made me feel reassured in her chair. true skills! she was very meticulous with the cut and made sure i was okay as i was being serviced. the hair wash was the best. she massaged and scrubbed my scalp at the perfect temp. i could've laid there all afternoon. the style turned out better than i could've imagined. kinsla brought tears to my eyes. she truly fulfilled the look i was going for with my hair. she saw and executed the vision. i am locked in with kinsla at this point. we will be working on a routine to keep up the maintenance and working on growing out the cut. i would definitely recommend kinsla and anyone in this salon as they all have LICENSED skills and you can tell they care about their clientele through their work. thank you kinsla and total hair elite! read more

Im writing this review of behalf of my mother who saw Kinsla on Friday, 11/4. Backstory- My mom hardly ever gets her hair done and since we were attending a wedding. I thought this is a great opportunity! I called the salon, spoke with Kinsla who was able to take my mom in. She deep conditioned and pressed(?) my moms hair, She looked fabulous! Kinsla is the BEST! After telling the owner I was natural. We booked appt. During service kept saying she wasn't a naturalists ??. Said she would give me name of one but never did. I felt uncomfortable during her service. After color and conditioner. I had to tell her to flat iron my hair. She felt comfortable sending me out looking a mess. And coloring was a mess I had black stains all across my forehead. I had to use hat for my lunch appt. I will never return or refer anyone. I see why she needs to get credit card information before your provide your service. read more

I wanted a straight style for my natural hair for a few days and found this place on Yelp. Kinsla is very knowledgeable and friendly. She suggested to cut my hair (which I hadn't done in a long time) and gave me some advice. The salon is at a great location and is very clean. The price ($90 total) was reasonable for the service and I was very satisfied with the result of both the cut and the silk press This won't be my go-to-salon for natural hair styles but definitely where I will go when feeling like a straighter look! read more

This hair salon SAVED my birthday weekend. After a stylist cancelled my appointment on the day of i was left without any options to get my hair done for my trip the next morning. I called around multiple places and finally reached the ONE. I hadn't had my hair straightened in 2 years and Kinsla gave my hair life! The vibe of the shop is definitely different from what you would expect from a beauty shop (in a good way). Kinsla was nice while I was there getting serviced, but Yall.... I really wanted to like my hair style honestly but I just CAN'T. The style I requested was a perm rod set. During my time getting serviced after she washed my hair, she blew out my hair & proceeded with adding the rollers to my hair. First, I wanted to point out that I'm a naturalista who mostly wears my hair curly so it's hard to know when I need a trim. (Which is weird because most stylists ask you when was your last trim and etc) She didn't tell me I needed a trim until the rollers came out of my head ,leaving all of my ends looking dry and frayed. I totally understand that she didn't want to damage my hair by continuing to blow dry it but if I needed a trim & im getting this particular service where my ends needed to be trim to complete the look, then something should have been said! Also, the pictures I posted speaks for it self... I took these pics as soon as i got home because it looked worse the curls aren't really curly or cute it looks like something I attempted to do in my own head but failed. I'm not even sure if she even liked it that much lol because she asked me what am I going to do with it. I asked her could she fluff it or do something to it because it doesn't have any shape or anything to it. She instructed me to use my hair pic the next day to fluff & separate the curls w/ oil but chilee there is nothing that I can do to save this perm rod disaster. I left because I thought I could finesse my hair, but me looking at my hair more and more It doesn't look like I went to a salon at all. It sucks the most because I told her I was going out of town the next day & my hair looks horrible. :( I booked her on style seat so my card was already charged when I was there so I decided to not complain and take the L. I've been going here for 2 years now and I have not been disappointed. Sonovia is my stylist and from day 1 I knew I would be coming back. She even does my 9 and 11 year old daughters hair. We always get a silk press when we go but this last time I decided to get some highlights. I was a little nervous at first because my hair is natural and it's so dark I was scared the color wouldn't show but Sonovia did her thing!! She did an amazing job! The color came out perfect. She is the only one I trust with my hair as well as my daughters. On top of that she has a great personality. I feel like I've known her forever. read more

Kinsla did a great job with my hair. I went in for a treatment, trim, and silk press. Before we got started she asked me how I usually wore my hair and adjusted the treatment based on that. She took the time to explain her recommendations and how I could help my silk press last longer. She's very gentle - I've never had my edges so straight without being burnt! We had a week of rain afterward and my hair stayed straight throughout it all. Will definitely make an appointment with her again. * Also in light of Covid - everyone was masked up and spaced out - the salon is taking precautions seriously which was very much appreciated. This place has been the answer to my hair troubles. I am very picky about who does my hair and how it is done and as late it has been really hard for me to find a hair dresser that will do what I want. My hair is currently natural but i do not like to wear it in its natural state. Kinsla understands this. She straightens my hair to perfection with out any chemicals and for that i am grateful. She also does not use any gel or unnecessary hair products. ( per my request) She even has a great personality and is so easy to talk to! read more

I give Kinsla five stars for her personality and customer service. Talking to her was like talking to my younger cousin. She did an excellent job on my hair. I loved it. I was just floored when she changed me $100.00. I've gotten full relaxers on my hair full service, cut, blowdry, deep conditioner and flat iron...$80.00. I have natural hair. Yes it's thick, yes I got a trim, yes she did a protein treatment but $100.00. But ok I know I can't put a price on anyone elses work. She did her thing I have to give her that. I can not take that from her. She's just way too expensive for me. Lesson learned ask for prices FIRST! Love you Kinsla. read more

I have to give Kinsla a five star rating , she is knowledgeable and professional. I came in today with my hair needing a Miracle lol and she did way more. I was referred by a close friend who had a bob cut and now her hair is past her shoulders. I am Extremely picky about who does my hair , but the hair transformation I saw in my friend I booked an appointment. I am extremely pleased with my hair I can't stop smiling I love the feel it's soft my cut is cute and up to date and I can't imagine going anywhere else.
