I've been to Cloud red a couple of times now. Once during Friday happy hour, for food and drinks with some girlfriends. Once after 10 p.m. on a Saturday night, just for drinks. The place is cute, somewhat upscale but yet has a casual feel. The food menu is limited but very interesting. I want to try all of it! We had split several appetizers. Everything was good. They have a nice wine selection and cocktail menu. I didn't really look at the beer menu. It has become a very popular establishment in Shorewood. So it's typically quite crowded. therefore, it's loud and space is tight. That would be my only deterrent to coming here, is not wanting to deal with that situation. I absolutely love this place. I've been there about half a dozen times, and my most recent visit was yesterday to celebrate my 50th birthday with a few dozen friends. Cloud Red was amazingly accommodating, with great friendly service. You order at the bar and then they bring the food to your table very quickly. We had the brussels sprouts, the spinach artichoke dip, the spring rolls, the hummus, and the cheese curds. The menu is eclectic, the portions are huge, and all of it was delicious. The beer list is great, and my friends thought their cocktails were tasty too. I love the ambiance: casual and cozy. I feel lucky to have this place so close to my house--I'll be going there a whole lot more! read more

First time at the restaurant. Concept is interesting. It worked out not having servers because it was a slow night, might not be the case on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Portions were good for the price and the food was tasty. I had the falafel open-faced on a pita. The falafel was tasty and not too crispy. They didn't skimp on any of the elements of the dish. Kid-friendly with outdoor seating, my family loves the well-flavored and creative vegetarian offerings and I love the margarita ;) My only recommendations would be to offer more dessert options and offer spice ratings (the tofu poboy and Indian bowl both had a good degree of heat.) I'm so glad this bar has been able to adjust their business model to stay open during COVID-19. Although I have had many successful take always during this time my last 2 experiences were not. The chicken po boy sandwich was far from what it has been in the past. Where did the chicken go? I'm not sure if there are new people in the kitchen or they are making changes to the portions. Our friends from Shorewood took us to Cloud Red last night and the experience was fantastic. The Pulled Pork nachos were big enough to share, the hamburger was deliciously messy and the steak sandwich , I quote , " to die for,". I had the steak salad and did everything but lick the plate. Layers of taste and texture all brought together by amazing dressing. Parking is tough and the acoustics are awful, but menus on the walls, shared tables and great food make this a destination. It's hard for new customers to understand the unordinary process of the entire restaurant. From walking in, the menu is facing the back wall where a line of people are looking at the menu like a McDonald's, then when you order, there are 2 bartenders, taking orders for the bar and the seated guests, you have to wait at the bar to get your order placed, instead of being waited. An inconvenient process, and you have to get your own water at a filling station, and each glass holds 3 friggin oz of water so I made 4 trips. The $9 cheese curd were more like cheese turds, except they tasted so bland... the breading was falling off in flakes and the "homemade" ranch, was milky water. Fell very below expectations , the only surprise was that there were board games available for you to play, if you had time, considering you had to serve yourself basically. read more

This place is sooooo much better than village pub ever was. Let me list the reasons why: good cocktails, farm to table local ingredients, open and airy (garage door that opens to outside), outdoor seating, modern decor, great menu choices, and great food. You order at the bar and then sit down. I also saw people playing games so there are games available. I had the chicken spring rolls and a burger, my dad had the chicken po boy. Cloud red is apparently a euphemism for "bar's on period" break. Would I recommend this place? Only if you are not sure if you want a expresso or discuss who's the Samantha in your group. An aborted dive bar turns pretentious and will also go down faster then a fat kid on a seesaw. Tip to next owners... Don't clean for 4-5 yrs, offer frozen zas, put juke box back in, and burn every fucking pillow! Oh, and make all tables high tops. Not looking to take a nap for 8$ gins! Really great atmosphere for hanging out! Love the garage door that opens up on a nice warm day. The food is delicious, the flavors are on point! There are a lot of fun games to play at your table. The only down side is if you go on a busy night it might take awhile to find a table (first come first serve basis) and your food might take longer than expected. Also no high chairs or changing station in the bathroom. We were fine with it-but the Lise level inside can get quite loud when it's busy. read more

I really liked my handful of experiences there thus far. They have kind of an odd/interesting way of ordering which just has you order at the bar. They have an excellent cheeseburger and a good beer list, so it's great in my book. It took over the place of a run down dive bar that was once kind of a classic North Shore hangout but was just a depressing haven for the occasional drunk by its end. Went to Cloud Red for the first time last night and was expecting a hipster bar and good drinks... but was not expecting such amazing food. Vietnamese sandwich was amazing. We stopped-in around the Fourth of July, and were lucky to have found this little jewel! First, and foremost, the beer selection is great! I'm tired of having to blow my palate out with over-hopped craft brews--but this place offered the whole gamut, and every selection was top-notch. The menu is pared-down... I was told this is mostly a bar, not necessarily a restaurant. But, everything we ordered was fantastic. I haven't been in a burger mood, as of late, but theirs was everything I had been missing. But don't think this place is healthy cuz they serve tasty veggies. From its grammatically incorrect name, aping a Native American icon; its excessively LOUD Bar music; its poor seating, its deli-style service, high prices; and dim-lit boozy beverage ambiance to its deep-fried-breaded greasy cauliflower this place is just faking it. Health is questionable here. Cloud Red is just TOO LOUD, What? So loud, you can't digest your food. So loud, the misguided managers don't get, how unhealthy the too-loud piped in music is. The ala-carte menu is kind of ho hum, but very pricey, and portions are small. You can easily spend $25 for a two-course meal. But its veggies. Oh yeah about, the deep fried cauliflower, it's bursting with oil and will surely trigger a gall bladder attack.
