    Natural High
    Stacy C.

Had a Natural High from Erik's Deli for lunch today. It's a gooey, delicious, warm mess of cheese, avocado, veggies, and sunflower seeds in wheat pita bread. I hadn't had one in years and it was wonderful. The Natural High was big enough that I had half for lunch and half for dinner. It heated up nicely in the microwave (wrapped in a paper towel) for dinner. Tasted good with a cold glass of apple juice.

    Hail Caesar Wrap

Did pick up order at Erik's. I ordered the Hail Caesar Wrap and it's a good introduction to Caesar wraps. The ceasar wrap has been blowing up on social media and although I know Erik's Delicafe is a chain, I wanted to get a gist of what it tastes like. The initial bites were really good, I loved the crunchiness of the croutons. I do wish the Parmesan cheese shavings were thinner because some pieces were too thick for that I couldn't enjoy it as much.

Half veggie sandwich and green salad. I KNOW IT LOOKS HEALTHY but I swear it tastes absolutely delicious.

SCRUMPTIOUS. I pulled up to Erik's starving, because I couldn't figure out what to eat. I was staggering in there and slumping at the tables, it was bad I was so dead. When I got my sandwich though, I felt my spirit coming back. I got a half sandwich half salad, to be healthy for my donuts later, and it was so much food. I felt so healthy eating all these vegetables and lettuce. And despite it looking really healthy, it didn't TASTE like super healthy food. The sandwich was so good I started to think about my post mortem arrangements, because my life was fulfilled now.

Erik's deli is nothing new and I've seen a few locations scattered around. This location is usually my go to but have been to others. I don't think I've dined in but walked in for take out and ordered online. never had any issues. All their sandwiches looks and sound so good but the one I always end up ordering is the Pot Belly. ctrl+c, ctrl+v from their website: Slices of turkey breast topped with pastrami, Monterey jack cheese, onions, tomato, clover sprouts and Secret Goo on fresh baked sourdough. This combo is everything. -love the sliced sourdough, it's not heavy as rolls -Turkey and pastrami was a nice balance between red meat and poultry. -Monterey jack cheese is good on this sandwich -Secret Goo sauce sounds sus... I'll take an extra sauce on the side please. You could always customize the sandwich to your liking but I usually like it as is. Chicken Pesto Sandwich - good A side of their tomato basil bisque just completes the entire order. Clam chowder is good too! Note: do NOT order from DoorDash!! The total price is almost double and not worth the money for a sandwich. Pick up if possible!

Half sandwich of Abbott 's Habit

I've been coming to Erik's for years! Whenever I'm in the bay, I always come here for my sandwich fix. This location is usually my go to when I'm running errands. It's always so clean and the staff is always so friendly. The staff always makes my experience better with the nice conversations and bringing out my food to the table, Unfortunately parking is very limited since it's a small lot with surrounding businesses around, so I recommend to avoid the lunch rush. My go to order is usually a half sandwich combo with Abbott's habit and a bowl of soup (which I switch between broccoli cheddar and their clam chowder depending on my mood). It's a great portion for one person and always filling. There's a reason I always order this sandwich and it's because it's so darn delicious and the French roll is so soft. Did I mention they always add a pickle!? This place is so great dining in or ordering to go!

    Looks inviting!

Some of our swim team team came here to eat lunch after prelims yesterday and loved it! Here we are today ( made finals again!) and after seeing the Yelp pics, I was in! Nice quiet shop on a Sunday around noon. Staff very friendly and the ordering and food delivery was perfect! I ordered the half sandwich / half soup combo. I love it because you get the best of both worlds for a price that's just as right as the combo itself! I would have included the picture of the soup but I ate it before I could take the picture! The sandwich presentation was real nice and had just the right amount of each ingredient. The clam chowder was very tasty! Altogether I think they nailed it! All the important boxes have been checked! Five stars!

There might be a parking lot nearby. My only suggestion to the staff is for them to wear a hairnet or something similar. The last sandwich I purchased had to be thrown away after I took a big bite out of it and pulled out a long strand of hair from inside my mouth . It was fully mixed in with the meat and I didn't realize it was there until I was already chewing on it. Unfortunately I won't be able to go there again for awhile from feeling a bit grossed out from this experience.

It was panini grilled with hot prosciutto, salami, mozzarella, provolone, spinach and sun dried tomato spread. It had a lot of good flavors. It was not great but good. They love the "holiday turkey" at Earl of sandwich which has stuffing and gravy. This one is more similar to Togo's turkey cranberry and they feel they are about the same. We ordered fries and onion rings too. It took awhile because they had to heat up the oil in the fryer. There were more than 3 employees. It looks like the previous taqueria with a new menu board. I ordered the Godfather, which is supposed to be their specialty, and it was very disappointing. The meats seemed old, extremely fatty, and so chewy that I was unable to swallow them. Every meat on the sandwich was fatty, including the mortadella, which was unusually greasy and unlike anything I've seen before. The texture made the sandwich very unpleasant to eat. It also made me question whether the meats had been stored properly, though I can't say for sure. The bread was average and didn't seem very fresh either. Maybe going later in the day means the ingredients have been sitting too long, but either way, this sandwich was difficult to enjoy and ended up in the trash.

Hence why I stopped here one warm late afternoon despite having lots of food options in this downtown-y area. The Godfather ($15ish/5*) When I first try a deli I will usually try their Italian combo. It's a classic sub I love but honestly I find it hard to find an above average one. I'm not sure if the art of making one has been lost, but within the last decade or so, I strike out more than I get hits. Usually the meat to bread to produce ratio is off. Sometimes the meats are too salty/poor quality. Other times the sauce/dressing flavor is off. I am so stoked that I found a legit one here. They use prosciutto, mortadella and salami here, all my faves. I hate when a place uses American ham/cheese on an Italian sub. And all the meats are of quality, not too salty at all. Provolone was the cheese, textbook. I chose a sourdough roll and even though requires a good amount of teeth strength to bite off a piece and to chew, it was pretty damn satisfying. The interior is soft yet chewy. They definitely use a solid bread company. The bites were what I consider to be classic Italian sub flavors. No curve balls like pesto, red peppers or strong mustard. Just quality meats with great textures, fresh produce dressed in oil n' vinegar so it taste like a good salad. And the kicker that pleasantly surprised me were chunks of marinated artichoke hearts so this made you feel like biting into an antipasto platter just in sandwich form. So Damn Solid. Italian Sausage Sandwich ($15ish/4*). Even though solid I didn't love this as much as the cold sub. They ask what type of sausage mild or hot Italian. Chose hot, no surprise. They said this will take longer to make, like about 10 minutes. I chose a regular sweet French roll for this. Not as chewy as the sourdough roll, much softer but still has body. I liked the flavors of warm marinara with their unique sausage, quite classic once again. But the sausage they use is super thick like twice as thick as a common Italian sausage link. They do split it so it covers the bread but that sausage is one of the firmest textures I've ever had for a sausage. Sausage by nature because of the grind usually bites easily. Not here, I had to bite so hard that the meat couldn't stay in the bread. I think the casing was unusually tough for some reason. I eventually peeled it off. Decent flavors but problematic to eat cleanly. $35+ (after T&T) for 2 sandwiches seems pricey but really it is the new reality. 10 years ago this would have been about $20ish. Welcome to the new world order. Lol

The service was okay and the ambiance was your typical Italian deli offering wines, cheese, meats, etc. The ornamentation was of interest to view with a lot of football memorabilia. The pastrami sandwich lacked the smokiness and salty pepper. I thought the thousand island dressing was a bit funky but it did add flavor to the meat. The corned beef wasn't savory at all. Yes, both meats are similar, but both were extremely bland. The beef raviolis were a disappointment. Now I understand the highlight of a ravioli should be just that, but sorry, it was mush, not pillow like. There was no constancy. No chewing required. The sauce was not to my liking-it was like eating tomato sauce with sugar. To sweet! Sorry, La Villa, I prefer a more savory garlicky Italian herby flavor for my Italian palette.
