This is the kind of place that was made for me... I know that there are a lot of places that serve breakfast in Bloomington, but this might just be my favorite. The coffee is good, the service is friendly and extremely fast, and the food is uncomplicated and tasty. Though my wife and I usually stop in to eat after 11:00 AM, we usually go for the breakfast menu items, but I definitely enjoy the turkey and beef Manhattan's and the fried chicken, too. At first I was only going to give them 4 stars since they don't stay open for dinner hours, but maybe that's a good thing after all. I'd rather have them do two meals very well than serve 3 meals and have a drop in overall quality. With the way that the servers and kitchen staff bust their humps, they deserve their rest. Cloverleaf has a lot of pluses and a lot of minuses, that's for sure. I really want to like this place and I keep going back to try and give it another shot but overall the bad outweighs the good. Let's be clear; I have never expected much out of Cloverleaf because I know it's just an affordable breakfast diner. However, I do expect it to at least be on par with similar spots I've been to. The prices at Cloverleaf are great! You can easily leave with a full belly and spend under $10. Definitely the type of place a person reasonably could afford to go to regularly. That's what I want from a diner, good enough prices that the regulars are there daily and good enough food that it's worth leaving home. Food is where Cloverleaf fails - and they fail pretty badly. I ordered the fried chicken breakfast special thinking that of all things, friend chicken can still be made well cheap. What I got a flavorless lump of whatever parts of the chicken weren't used for tenders. It was mostly bone and grit and (despite a very peppery looking crust) it had 0% flavor and 0% moisture. Even my hash browns were bad, and potato should be easy. Overall, nothing I ate tasted like it had any seasoning. Disappointed. read more

Have been there several times. Service is quick and friendly, food comes out quickly. The food is pretty basic. I had the pancakes with chocolate chips and walnuts recently and a side of smoked sausage. One of the best meals I've had. The burgers are kinda so so, I would suggest a meat n three. Average breakfast. I ordered pancakes and they were kind dry. Bacon was not crispy. Family friendly and a nice atmosphere. Maybe I'll go back and try something else. My boyfriend ordered the buscuits and gravy and he said they were good. read more

Very affordably priced, which makes it a popular choice for the neighborhood, but with low prices come some compromises. Food here is okay, but not great nor special. Typical diner food. My breakfast today was a combo with 1/2 order of biscuits & gravy,hash browns, one egg, and bacon. The bacon was excellent, the biscuits and gravy were bland. The service was friendly and adequate, and the diner was clean. In summary, if price is your most important factor when choosing breakfast, check this place out. Otherwise there are many other better breakfast places in Bloomington that cost just slightly more. read more

If you're looking for a greasy spoon for breakfast, this is it. Nice addition to the south side of town for breakfast. Server was very attentive and was quick on refills for both water and coffee. Food came quickly which is always nice, especially at breakfast. Price is very affordable. My wife and I had biscuits and gravy and a skillet and got out of there for $13 including drinks. For the amount of food you get at the price, you can't beat it. If you're looking for a place to eat breakfast and don't want to sit around waiting to be seated or have to spend an arm and leg...this is your place. This Cloverleaf location is significantly smaller than it's west 3rd street counterpart, but the service, hometown diner atmosphere, and food are just as substantial. Came here with a group of about 6 gentlemen for a midweek breakfast in early May and we were seated quickly and our orders were taken just as fast. Cloverleaf does not mess around when it comes to speed of service and the first omelette of our group was out on the table in no more than 7 minutes and was fresh. I always order a large serving of hashbrowns, pancakes, and toast. However for only opening until 3pm, they have a full dinner menu at a great price that is served all day. The value for money and portion sizes beats any of the trendy Bloomington places by a mile, skip the hipster garbage and come eat a real filling breakfast at Cloverleaf. read more

A great addition to the south side of town. Very welcoming staff, and nice selection of comfort food. The fried chicken is surprisingly good, as in some of the best in town good. The fried chicken breakfast is always a great choice, and they serve an excellent liver & onions lunch as well. Very reasonable prices, and portion sizes that won't leave you hungry. read more

We eat breakfast fairly often. The food is sometimes a little bland for my taste, but the service is awesome. We always get the breaded portobello mushrooms, regardless of what time we are eating as they are best in town hands down. I like the biscuits and gravy, though I always add lots of salt and pepper. I always order my bacon and my hash browns crispy as well, otherwise the bacon is a bit chewy and the potato's q bit pale for my taste. read more

I love this resturant. It is nothing fancy, but I had the best breakfast I had in long time! Biscuits gravy, hasbrowns, and bacon. It was the workmans platter. It was so good!! The biscuits were nice and soft and the gravy was very good. The atmosphere was great a lot of older folks. My husband and I will definitely go back. Wish they were open on Sundays. read more

It took 10 minutes for a sever to even acknowledge us, we didn't get our coffee until after our food came, and the plates our food came on still had soap and dishwater on them. Food was nothing special and wasn't hot. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I ordered a side salad and it was basically an onion salad. There were more onions then lettuce. The chili was basically beans with chunks of tomatoes and onions. Barely warm either! My son ordered his favorite: biscuits and gravy. He barely ate it. He told me that the biscuits tasted like batter and crumpled into pieces if you try to eat them. The bacon was tasted awful.....greasy and basically strips of fat with no meat. BUT....the waitress was really nice! read more

Have been there twice recently, once I had breakfast and once I had lunch. Both times were a good experience. My sausage onion and cheese omelet was great, with caramelized onions. Hash browns good, standard fare. Super quick service! Second time double cheeseburger was my choice, came out hot and fresh, with standard fries. Both times very quick and priced right. This is my "go to" choice when I want good home cooking at reasonable prices and served by friendly staff. It is my "Cheers- where everybody knows your name". I am so happy they opened a neighborhood restaurant. Aside from all of that, you can't beat the all day breakfast option or their significant menu. Great choices and I've never had anything that disappoints. Opt for the fried potatoes over the fries and settle in for good Ole Hoosier cooking. Only two complaints, they close daily at 3:00 and I would love an evening meal there and they are closed on Sundays when I crave their fried mush. read more
