I only needed a smog test but they had same day appts available. Got there and it was crowded and busy. The waiting room was full and there were people waiting outside. I thought there was no way they would complete it half hour like they said. This time I was happy to be wrong! They checked me in, checked the car and I went for a walk around Old Town. 20-25 min later I got a call saying they were done! They were very friendly, fast and comparatively cost appropriate. This review will seem like I'm crapping on the Clovis Auto Shop, make no mistake, I am not, I think they're wonderful, I'm just fortunate enough to not need them for everything. I went in because my AC stopped working on my Ford Fusion. (Evap Sensor) Every shop, every single one will go with the by the book quote of it being a 9-hour job, that cost between $850-$1000 dollars. If you don't know, shops go by a book that tells them the price of the job. It's so everyone is fair and good mechanics can get a 9-hour job done faster, say... 3 hours, thus they just got 6 free hours. Again, this is good, try to use by the book people, because the shops that go by an hourly rate are the places that tell you the car will be done next week. So, what I needed was a good diagnostics group, and these guys are it. For $100 they told me exactly what was wrong. That might seem like a bad deal for people, but a standard AC check-up is $100, so whatever. But they were honest enough to say, look, it's a $950 job to replace a $60 part. I'd asked if they were sure if that was the problem when they said yes, I thanked them and ordered the part right away. Is it a 9-hour job, no, it took me about 2-3, however they go by the book not by the job so that's no one's fault. I ordered the part for about $30 on Amazon and replaced it at home. Thus saving about $850 from having someone (anyone) else do it. I'm happy they were there to tell me, this is the problem, this is the item you'll need. Because with that information I can change my own Evap sensor and do most work myself since I know exactly what's wrong. Sure, I can read the codes, but I'd had the same code for 5 years. I'll happily go back to them as I imagine there's going to be some jobs I can't do on my own, but having them be honest enough to save me $850 means I'll come in over and over for them to point out what's wrong and if it's something I can do on my own. read more

Went there this week for a mandatory State of CA. DMV smog check on one of our cars. Made an appt. Totally professional staff. Efficient. Might have been there about 20 minutes or so. Left with the paperwork and detailed info on next step. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Even if this place is a tad further, just go here. $42.00 for smog check and certificate and they do a quick safety check on your car as well. read more

This shop is contracted with Carmaxx but you would never know it. They worked on the air conditioner on my Land Rover Discovery but ended up not knowing how to fix just recharging the refrigerant and still charging me $470. When I called to get it fixed because it was still blowing hot air, they said they could "try" to fix it but that I should take it to the dealership. If I had known that they couldn't fix it I would have taken it to the dealership instead of loosing out on $470 and STILL having hot air blowing out of my air conditioning. Very disappointed and WOULD NOT recommend. read more

I had my '95 Ford pickup towed to Clovis Auto Shop late morning on April 10th as it would not start. Behind the service counter were two most unfriendly, and borderline surly, service writers. Both insisted they worked by appointment only and implied i couldn't leave my truck with them. What they do with customers who breakdown roadside, I don't know. Eventually I was allowed to leave it with them and on Friday one of the service writers called advising it's was a battery cable and they could replace it for $285. I don't have a problem with how much they charged, or even the entire week it took them to diagnose the issue, but the horrible initial contact was beyond reasonable. It seemed apparent to me Clovis Auto Shop has too much business and can therefore be outwardly rude to their customers and painfully slow in their diagnosis's. read more

Along with our personal vehicles, we also have my company truck serviced here as well. Recently the A/C quit working on the truck and they were very thorough and found where the Accumulator had caused the pump to malfunction due to metal shavings. Unlike most other shops that go for the quick fix.... they diagnosed the whole system and now I have A/C that I can count on. Thank you Raul for your help and for sending me pictures of the metal shavings in the Accumulator so I could visualize the problem. Took my car in for check engine light, 5 trips to the shop and over $1200 , I still have the check engine light on. I was told that they could do the job, but they obviously couldn't, now my car is making a weird burping sound from the gas tank area, only started after they worked on my car, and of course , they can't hear anything unusual, so I have to take someplace else to repair the charcoal filter that they damaged. Called this morning and got an appointment that fit my schedule. Drop off was easy and front desk person was super nice and on top of things. Made drop off super easy. Got a text with an awesome courtesy inspection report from the Technician once he had checked the brakes (and everything else) that included pictures. Shortly thereafter I got a call from Mike to go over things and got service expedited. Anthony, the technician, took the time to clean off and inspect the battery cables instead of just replacing the battery without checking. They even helped me save some $ with a few tips-super cool. I first went to this shop back in 2016, and had no problems. This time, however, I failed only one aspect of my smog check (since the computer was reset when I had my car checked and I was just under the 100 mile mark since having that done). I shrugged it off when I was told I could come back in to get the smog test done again for only $30, especially since I should've done over 100 miles just to be safe, but unfortunately when I came back the next day, they charged me full price for smog again. It passed, even though I had literally just drove home and back. Really frustrating to have to pay twice when I thought I had done everything I needed to do, then be lied to about the price, but at least now I know and won't make the same mistake twice. Not sure I'll be returning, but I've heard most people don't have issues with this shop so maybe it was just a string of bad luck for me. I'm driving up from the Bay Area Today I decided to give it another go. And try to find somebody that can help me with my car. I called the major dealerships, all they did was put me on hold. Or leave a message and somebody will get back to me. So I left a message and nobody called back. So I got up and drove to the service department of the major dealership. I asked if I can get a mechanic to look at my car. Everybody in the office smile and laugh saying there is a 2 week wait for a mechanic. I got worried cause I couldn't drive on these bad breaks. So I was driving down Clovis looking for another dealership service department anywhere to see if somebody can squeeze me in. So I can get my car fixed, and drive worried free. I had break noises problems for the last 6 years and no other mechanic knew how to fix the issue. I have a car with 22' Rims. So I saw a shop called CLOVIS AUTO SHOP. I was thinking, oh it's a local shop. I wonder if they can fix cars as good as the bigger companies auto shops. So I spoke to Christopher the Service Manager. I explained my issue, And too my surprise he was very knowledgeable and professional with my car issue. So I let them service my car. WOW the mechanics fixed my break sound I had for over 6 years. I'm still in Shock they fix my breaks, cause in the SF Bay Area I had 2 different mechanics tell me. There was Nothing they can do to stop the breaks from making noise. I used to be so embarrassed when people would ride in my car and hear my breaks noise. So I signed up to yelp just to leave this Review for the Clovis Auto Shop. I recently had a great experience at Clovis Auto Shop in replacing my 2006 Chevy Suburban engine with a rebuilt Jasper engine. I did a lot of research and got several quotes. In the end manager Raul emailed me the overall best offer for price and service. The engine replacement total cost was pretty darn close to original quote. They only took 3 days once the engine arrived and my Suburban is running great. No more horrendous lifter ticking, mine was really bad. For some reason, after the engine replacement the Air conditioner would not blow cold air. I told Raul about the issue and his guy fixed it in one day, no charge. That is great service. Since our car was sent to Clovis Auto Shop for routine inspection and servicing in September 2019, we have had repeated car problems happening almost every month and have spent over $5000 in car repairs. I have had loose electric connections, battery issues and timing chain problems, all of which started 1 month after the initial inspection and servicing at this auto shop. Although my car is 7 years old, I have never had any problems with the car since before we went to this auto shop. I am leaving this review so that other customers can be aware. We were hoping to find a private shop for our routine needs, but I guess we were wrong. Sticking with the dealership going on forward. Disappointed!! read more

This is my first time ever having to get a smog check done, in order to renew my registration. Thankfully they were very nice and the process went by so smooth. I didn't have to do anything or bring anything and they were able to send my certificate to the DMV. I decided to get an oil change as well because I was already there and everything was done within an hour and a half. Total came out to $124. I have a 2014 Kia Optima. Only downfall is someone left my light tan suede seats dirty with fingerprints, it seemed like dirt or oil and I was very scared it was gonna stain. I let them know it was dirty and wasn't like that in the morning and without hesitation the workers and owner took it to the back and cleaned it immediately. They were very very nice. The owner even apologized to me himself and showed me it cleaned. I would definitely come back again. read more

I really can't say enough good about these guys! Chris took my frantic roadside call and helped me figure out my car wasn't drivable, gave me tow info quickly and my car was there within an hour. Because CarMax told me to take the car to a third party shop I did, but when Clovis Auto went to get authorization they refused to pay because I was still under warranty with the manufacturer (info that would have been helpful when I called to inform them of my issue the first time) so my car had to be taken to a dealer. Had the repair not been so costly I would have paid Clovis Auto to fix it just to support their business because of how well they treated me. It is usually a crap shoot choosing a repair shop from a list, don't take that chance. They are honest, fast and have integrity.
