[[HIGHLIGHT]]You can't miss the Club Paris neon sign when you're in downtown Anchorage. The restaurant has been around since 1967 and it definitely shows its age -- and that's part of its charm, and the inside hasn't changed much since then.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very dark inside, to the point where we had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only reservation we got was at 8:30 PM reservation on a Tuesday, and upon arriving, our server let us know the kitchen closes at 9 PM, so we had to order fairly quickly. Definitely make reservations because the restaurant is always full. We started with the fried mushrooms appetizer, which were huge and stuffed with an andouille sausage and bread stuffing which tasted ok but super filling. For our main course, we shared the filet with Alaskan king crab ($165 market price). The entree came with a salad and bread. The steak was cooked perfectly and was a good quality cut, but the crab was disappointing -- it didn't taste very fresh and had a mushy texture. For what we paid we were mostly displeased with the crab. Service was good overall, and the staff was friendly and attentive. However, for the price, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. I'm glad we tried it for our first trip to Anchorage, but I don't think we'd return. The steak was solid, but not memorable enough to justify the cost.

An Anchorage institution!

While recently visiting Anchorage my buddy suggested lunch at Club Paris. Told me they were known for their great food and service. They delivered! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Of particular note is the 'old school' ambiance. Made the experience even more memorable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll be back!

Perfection. Look at those grill marks! Petite filet.

Perfection. Look at those grill marks! Petite filet. Perfectly seasoned. And that bread? Anchorage landmark for a reason. Consistently amazing! When the same people work at an establishment for 20+ years you know it's good.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing quality and atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As you walk into a NY City supper club type place, you can almost picture the old time monsters sitting at a corner booth. So much character and charm![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately! I opted for the filet mignon and man oh man this did not disappoint! It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and it melted in your mouth! So much flavor! Starting off with the homemade roll was just the ticket. It's served warm and damn I could've had 10 of those guys! The loaded baked potato was cooked perfectly and fluffed just right! All in all, highly impressed!

Went back again many years after I first went here. The food and service were both excellent

This place is classic, quirky and the food is top quality. Reservations are made via telephone and open Monday morning at 9 AM for the week. It looked like plenty of people sit at the bar and have their meal there. The servers all seem to have individual personalities. The food is very good. My fresh Alaskan halibut was amazing. We saw crab legs go by a few times and they were huge. My companion had a steak that was very good. Also, we shared Key Lime pie that had a great crust. Plus the filling was not too sweet, perfect tartness. Be aware...Anchorage has a new law: anybody who orders a drink, will be carded. I was with an 87-year-old and they were not served as they did not have an ID on them.

If you don't know about this place, you are missing out. Wine menu kills. Get a big red, French onion soup, and 8 oz. filet at the bar if you are by yourself. Share the bottle and make friends. If you want a table call promptly at 3pm and leave a message. Otherwise, prepare to wait. It is worth it. Inside is classic steakhouse. Wood panel, black and white photos on the walls, carpet that makes a frat house floor look and smell like marble tile. Don't miss it!

Burger and steak fries

First time coming here for lunch and I order the daily special burger which was a jalapeño bacon burger with fries for $17 - which for downtown Anchorage seems like a good value. I'm on a mission to find the best burgers in Anchorage and this is going to rank towards the top. The burger is made from filet mignon trimmings and the flavor was noticeably better than your typical burger. What made it for me was the garlic aioli. The steak fries were delicious too! Service was neither here nor there, but I can say I got sat quickly and served quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Quite dark in the restaurant which isn't my favorite vibe but there are some windows you can sit by for more light.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe one day I'll actually splurge on a dinner here...

Prime rib end cut

First thing I want to mention is reservations are HIGHLY recommended. We visited on a Wednesday evening without a reservation and got lucky with availability at the bar. Steve, bartender, was very attentive. Husband ordered the prime rib end cut and claimed it was incredible. I had the teriyaki chicken and found it delightful. Carrot cake was delicious. If you get the chance, please visit.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking for an old-school, dark, and traditional steakhouse vibe, Club Paris definitely fits the bill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It has that classic feel with a menu to match--think standard cuts of steak, baked potatoes, fries, and simple salads. I ordered the ribeye with a baked potato and a side of fried prawns. Everything was just okay. The steak could've used more seasoning to bring out the flavor, and the prawn batter wasn't as crispy as I expected. For dessert, I tried the sweet potato dish, which had potential--but the drizzle of Hershey's chocolate really overwhelmed the flavor and hurt the overall presentation. Overall, it's a nostalgic spot with a straightforward menu, but the execution left a bit to be desired. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Probably better for those who love that classic steakhouse atmosphere more than for the food itself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Dinner special with shrimp

Club P is the spot if you are looking for Steak or anything of the sort! We came in and had the special with some onion soup and it was all deliciously. Soup was very tasty and the tenderloins were cook to perfection. I also got a side of shrimp which was delicious but it was $11 for 3 shrimp so not sure if I'd do it again. The ambiance was perfect for date night so definitely come check this place out! I hear they also have very good burgers and service for lunch!

The food was good, came here with a group of friends. It was suggested to us by some of our local friends. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the steamed clams and ate the bread and butter. It hit the spot. My friends ordered a lot of different things...mostly steak...and they enjoyed their meal. I forgot to take pictures...too much going on at the table!

Petite filet with rice

The food and atmosphere are amazing. It looks like a little hole in the wall place in anchorage, but I highly recommend it. My wife and I had the petit filet 8oz. It came with a side. I had rice and my wife a baked potato. It was literally 4 inches thick and cooked to perfection with a nice char on the outside.

The board stating the wait time was accurate. I only waited 5-10 minutes. I ordered the spenard burger and a regular cheeseburger with fries. The fries were dead cold (only drove to eat maybe 2 minutes) if I were eating in house I would have asked for new fries. The burgers were actually pretty good nothing wrong with them. The menu is kind of all of the place and a lot of reading. The staff was very nice but standing around in front with nothing to do because it was so dead in there. The floors were pretty sticky too so I stayed on the carpet while waiting. Around $35 for two burgers and dead cold fries.

And it is. The gentleman who answered the phone was very friendly and knowledgeable and reassured me although the fries would be cross contaminated so this would not be a celiac friendly restaurant. Although I neglected to ask about the teriyaki sauce on the Aloha burger. Maybe next time. I ordered the sweet Charlotte burger on gluten-free bun and added minced garlic and an order of small Cajun fries, which all came $29.60. The burger was good still on the fence about the bun. I've had it before at another restaurant. I think there's this after dryness if that makes sense. They definitely did not use Franz bakery, gluten-free buns. the fries were well seasoned still slightly warm from the delivery although we don't live that far. I ordered a pineapple milkshake with pineapple. I added it flavor and that cost me $8.45 although it was good it's a very light pineapple flavor but you can tell that it is pineapple. However, the size of the milkshake doesn't warrant THAT price. My husband ordered the RLE Hello burger and that Pápi was huge! He said it was all right. So for him nothing write home about, but it was filling. Would order it again though @a whopping $25.35 price tag. The small beer battered onion ring was actually pretty large for $7.80. Would hate to see what the large $16.90 onion rings look like. And he ordered a Mexican Coke for $5.20. Total through DoorDash with tip came to $90.22. A bit much for two burgers, but we are full.

After perusing the few tables that had people eating burgers, decided to go with the wrap option, not wanting a loaf of bread surrounding my burger! Either that or common sense took a vacation from the cold in Anchorage. Cashier was very helpful despite my clown like behavior. KETO Burger!!! Very pleasing to the eye, wrapped in a generous amount of crunchy iceberg, boom, could have used more sauce, but I'm a sauce kind of clown, plenty to get from the condiment bar. Nice crunchy bacon, boom, she said mustard was absent had to get my own. Over all not bad, certainly not the best in Anchorage like a previous reviewer, that was obviously may or may not be connected to the restaurant .... Hmm what am I some kind of a clown? A few tips to improve the burger, add on the tomato pickles and onions. Also burn a brand into the lettuce like the buns, would be way cool. And don't be afraid to sauce it up, some of us Keto types need a lot of taste to combat the boring taste of iceberg. Take heed, the clown has spoken,

We started eating within 2-3 minutes of walking out the door, but it was practically inedible. The fish and fries were incredibly laden with oil; just heavy, greasy, and completely unseasoned. Ratio of breading to fish was 50/50, so you get a little gipped on the actual fish. Everything desperately needed salt at minimum. To make matters worse, they send it with their berry tartar sauce, which is an absolute crime in all 50 states. We specifically requested regular tartar sauce and were given plain mayonnaise instead. None of our other requested condiments, like ketchup, were supplied either. Service for the limited time I interacted with her, was average. She was easy going, but not particularly warm or engaging. While the portions were fine, $35 for a meal that we tossed out after 2-3 bites is incredibly frustrating. I hate wasting money and fresh seafood, but it was just that bad.
