Alaskan Golden King Crab Legs (1-1/4 lbs.)
    Brenda F.

High-end restaurant with beautiful waterfront views, but the king crab was a bit disappointing. It looked promising, but there was very little meat compared to the king crab we had at other restaurants, and the flavor didn't stand out. That said, the halibut cheek was absolutely delicious, and our server was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout the meal. They also validate parking for the parking garage, which was a nice convenience.

VERY HANGRY from our city adventure, this place was recommended by our tour guide. I highly recommend making a reservation. They welcome walk-ins at the bar, and we were lucky to snag a spot since it was quite crowded. The decor is beautiful there. The background scenery is amazing if you are lucky to get the window seat. The mixed Trio was delicious, but the string green beans were pretty tough to eat. They were too hard to chew. The grill shrimp and scallops were the highlight of that plate. We also ordered the shrimp fettuccine to share. Thanks to our pretty and friendly waitress Paula was kind enough to have the chef divide the portion into two dishes. She was very attentive to our needs since we had certain food allergy. She came back a couple of times to check up on us and refilling our sodas. Overall, the food was delicious. Rating the restaurant overall, I would give them one less star if I included the restroom. It was dirty, especially considering it's a nice upscale restaurant. The bathroom door was intimidating to go to because you could actually see through the big side crack and one can see you doing your business. Not a scene that anyone wants to see.

Thank you to our server BENSON. He was not only kind and welcoming, but he stayed composed during a very very busy dinner rush. He never felt sped up and he cared for my wife and I. The food was FANTASTIC. Highly recommended !!!

Loooong wait for the main entrees to come out. Over an hour and half! During the entire dinner, there was a lot of noises coming from the kitchen. Not sure if someone called out or quit. They were behind and understaffed. Maybe they had an off night. Halibut cheeks dish was recommended but Asiago cheese crust overpowered the fish flavor and it was not good. We expected more from a place with this kind of price tag.

Delicious!! Four of us had dinner here tonight. 2 people ordered the mixed grill, one person ordered the scallops and I ordered the halibut cheeks. Everybody loved their meals! So yummy and fresh! The halibut cheeks are so darn yummy! Breaded in panko and Asiago cheese then pan fried, so wonderfully delicious!! The scallops were big juicy, tender and tasty! Real meaty! The mixed grill was fabulous! For dessert we had the baked Alaska! So darn yummy!! The ambiance of this place is so comfortable and enjoyable! The service provided by Jackie was spot on too! She was wonderful! Please see the pictures and let your eyes do the feasting. Hope to be back soon!!!

We loved our lunch at Simon & Seafort's restaurant! The views were spectacular and our server was very nice. The Oven Roasted Crab & Artichoke Dip and the Golden Alaskan King Crab legs are a must. Our AirBnb host recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint!!!

This is our first time in Anchorage coming from San Antonio. I really wanted to have an opportunity to eat King salmon and crab. This restaurant was fantastic. Absolutely beautiful window views outside gorgeous flowers as you're coming in and great weight Staff the food was absolutely fantastic.

Everything I wanted it to be! We had an expensive but delicious lunch at S&S. Fresh crab legs were worth it. I also liked the house speciality halibut cheeks but they were a bit too rich for me. Lovely restaurant, pretty good service, good mocktail selection. The view wasn't quite what I expected as it was low tide but also looks over a gravel parking lot and small park and *then* you see the inlet. So it's nice but not "over the water" as I expected. Still - food was worth it.

If I wrote this review before it could have been a 3 star - but in all honesty it's a 4! The wait was a bit long and the presentation of one dish was sloppy but all in all the food was great. We ordered the seafood trio with scallops, shrimp and fish (excellent!), the teriyaki bits (salty, poor presentation), fish and chips (good), clam chowder (very good), tipsy clams (excellent), key lime pie (pretty good) and cappuccino (shot of coffee and foam - be ready for a strong cup!) Ambience was nice and pretty views.

What a beautiful waste of a restaurant space. This restaurant is long running and located in a gorgeous build out with a beautiful view. It has history behind it and Anchorage needs a nice spot out. A lot of long time residents told us this is the "special occasion" spot so we tried it. Prices & location definitely reflect it being high end. Menu was decently designed with choices that made sense for a long running location.... So the setup is there, the execution is not. All the details were missing in the space. Little things that we could've looked away from if service was on point, but they were there. The server was rushed, inattentive and uninspiring. For an almost $500 meal, we expect more. Our $20+ cocktails that are served table side were dropped with no care of execution and no explanation- a cocktail that changes colors when mixed, which is its allure, dropped without announcement and mixed without the eyes of the table being called to look. What a miss. Questions about the menu were answered robotically and care about the experience was lack luster. She did not engage. I LOVE eating out to be served and I expect it to meet the price of the place. We received counter service help at a "special occasion" restaurant. My $120 crab came out cold. Like ICE COLD. I'm not naïve enough to think it's truly fresh just because I'm in Alaska, so I know they're working with a frozen product, but please at least master the execution of a product that is special because it's from your locale. To make matters worse the server didn't notice because she did not care enough to do a 2 minute / 2 bite check back. I had to flag down what must've been a food runner or busser to let her know and then it took some time. The server did offer a cup of soup while I waited, the manager did drop off the remake with an apology, they did buy us a dessert. All the right things to correct that issue and I very much appreciated that effort. However the lack of care by the server and the sub par food was just not worth the price tag, nor should it allow them to hold the title or recommendation of a "special occasion" dining spot. I can imagine at the height of this establishments time, they were well executed, delicious and so worth the cost. They need to do a deep dive of their choices and investments and decide if they still want to be in the game because their current state will lead to a slow and untimely death. The bread - delicious, we asked for another basket, she rolled her eyes. The salads - ok. The halibut - nothing to write home about. The king crab - cold crab is never impressive unless it's a buffet or sushi. The sides on the main dishes - no flavor The baked Alaska - do not serve things that should be representative of your area if you don't plan to execute! Overall a disappointment and I hope this gets read by someone that actually cares to make a difference because it has the bones but nothing good is hanging on it.

Caprese Omelet, Frontier Breakfast and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes

My friend and I were seated for a quiet Sunday morning brunch and were looking forward to a delicious meal. We were pleased with the breakfast potatoes and warm bread, however we miss the muffins that were once served for brunch service. Our pancakes came 5 layers high with a delicious blueberry compote. We were disappointed with the consistency of the eggs, they almost tasted like the weird boxed or powered egg product. Our service was friendly and attentive. While Simon's used to be the go to spot, it has become a place to go only every once in a while with visitors.

I came here on the recommendation of a family member and it was fine; I had the french onion soup - which was good and heart, but needed a bit more salt or flavor. Then, I tried one of the dishes they are known for - the halibut stuffed with crab. It was very good - but I did find myself digging to find crab - but it was flavorful, a great portion, and the sides were well cooked as well. Service was great - I sat at the bar on a weekday and the place was still filling up pretty quickly - and they have a great view across the bay. Overall, it was a nice dining experience.

    Grilled Seafood Trio
    Brooke C.

First of all the service is amazing. I ordered the Lychee Lime Soda and it was incredible. Unfortunately everything went downhill from there. The Calamari was overcooked and managed to lose most of its breading to the plate. We both ordered the grilled trio and while my scallops and shrimp were good the salmon was so dry it could qualify for drought relief. My husband's broccolini was equally dry and everything was just so under seasoned. We were disappointed and for the price we expected much much better. Granted my husband's dish was ordered without butter but that only explains the lack of moisture not the lack of flavor, and only just. Like the salmon itself should have had plenty of moisture in it with just a kiss of the grill but it was almost like someone forgot about it. Again I stress that the service was excellent and the view of the water and mountains made it a lovely spot, I just cannot in any good conscience recommend this spot beyond the drinks and perhaps items from other areas of the menu. Edit: dropping down to 2 stars since for the price we paid the qualify if the food was really egregiously bad. The atmosphere and service should give this place a 4.5 to 5 stars but the food ruined the experience.

What is the recommended attire for dinner?

I'd say dressy/casual. We were traveling and went in jeans and nice tops, while others were in slacks and dresses, but did not feel out of place.

Does Simon's still have a Happy Hour? If so hours and what days?

the happy hour is every day from 2:30pm-5:30pm

Would they be able to accommodate a vegetarian for dinner?

There are vegetarian options on the menu

Most often, I leave a steak house thinking I could make a better steak for a fraction of the price at home. This was not the case here. The service was also good, which is a nice change for the area. We live here and quite frankly, the service in the Anchorage area is usually pretty marginal. So, that was a pleasant surprise. However, the sides are quite expensive and billed as "family style" but they are a single serving really. The exception was the Parker House rolls which I think came out 5 to an order. They were pulled apart and the sides of the rolls were dry, as if they had been plated up and set under a heat lamp for too long. The risotto was prepared incorrectly. It was mushy with no hint of the classic al dente. I think if they can't take the time to cook that dish correctly, they should consider taking it off the menu as it is a marker for a good meal in my opinion. The wedge salad was pretty standard fare, with a couple of heirloom tomato slices that were also mushy (although, I can forgive that given where we live as the lettuce was crisp and nice) The other side we ordered was a special, fiddlehead ferns, served braised. They were tasty, and the best non steak item we had, but a small portion and, I think $23, which seemed quite expensive. I think the next time we go, we will just share a steak with a glass of wine and skip the overpriced 15-25 side dishes.

Hey there friends! We had an amazing dinner at the Glacier Brew house. Before I start, I will say…read morethat it didn't start off on the right foot due to some issues with the people at the front reception. Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. I was told they were fit reservations and I couldn't have a table. Long story short, 45 min went guy and there were still open tables, I E's not happy and let them know. By this time though, our waiter Marco cans over to us and said he would take care of us, which he did. I told the front desk to forget our table and have them the buzzer back. ** My review starts*** Marco was a great waiter taking excellent care of us. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious as well, I particularly enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon, yum!!! Our friends ordered the fried calamari which he enjoyed and his wife had the salmon over a Ceaser salad. To finish it off, I had to get the lava cake for dessert.....hey, why not, I'm in vacation lol! Everything was great, the food delicious, Super Marco s the best!!! Great service and a great time. Just a shame it didn't start off on the right foot. Lesson: make a reservation!!!!!

The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. We had to ask for water (twice) because he kept getting sidetracked (mind you, there were probably about 2 other groups on the restaurant side). The steaks were overcooked and didn't have much flavor. Honestly, the sides were probably the only decent part of the meal (almost another 50min after salads). By this time; patience was running thin all around. When asked where their bathrooms were located; the woman (presumably a manager of some sort) proceeds to tell us about having 3 restrooms in the restaurant and how one had a hole in the wall because someone punched a hole in it (because it was Father's Day)?! and she just did her best to cover it with a piece of paper because she's not a contractor, what the heck does my knowing any of that useless information have to do with where the bathroom was located? (Still wondering...) We were definitely not impressed with this place; we asked for our desserts "to go" and they still got our order wrong. Oh- and apparently everyone else was offered bread as they waited, yet my group was not. Definitely, do not recommended, unless you're not hungry and have 1/2 a day to waste. Save your time and money; go someplace else!
