    Grilled Seafood Trio
    Brooke C.

First of all the service is amazing. I ordered the Lychee Lime Soda and it was incredible. Unfortunately everything went downhill from there. The Calamari was overcooked and managed to lose most of its breading to the plate. We both ordered the grilled trio and while my scallops and shrimp were good the salmon was so dry it could qualify for drought relief. My husband's broccolini was equally dry and everything was just so under seasoned. We were disappointed and for the price we expected much much better. Granted my husband's dish was ordered without butter but that only explains the lack of moisture not the lack of flavor, and only just. Like the salmon itself should have had plenty of moisture in it with just a kiss of the grill but it was almost like someone forgot about it. Again I stress that the service was excellent and the view of the water and mountains made it a lovely spot, I just cannot in any good conscience recommend this spot beyond the drinks and perhaps items from other areas of the menu. Edit: dropping down to 2 stars since for the price we paid the qualify if the food was really egregiously bad. The atmosphere and service should give this place a 4.5 to 5 stars but the food ruined the experience.

Delicious!! Four of us had dinner here tonight. 2 people ordered the mixed grill, one person ordered the scallops and I ordered the halibut cheeks. Everybody loved their meals! So yummy and fresh! The halibut cheeks are so darn yummy! Breaded in panko and Asiago cheese then pan fried, so wonderfully delicious!! The scallops were big juicy, tender and tasty! Real meaty! The mixed grill was fabulous! For dessert we had the baked Alaska! So darn yummy!! The ambiance of this place is so comfortable and enjoyable! The service provided by Jackie was spot on too! She was wonderful! Please see the pictures and let your eyes do the feasting. Hope to be back soon!!!

What a beautiful waste of a restaurant space. This restaurant is long running and located in a gorgeous build out with a beautiful view. It has history behind it and Anchorage needs a nice spot out. A lot of long time residents told us this is the "special occasion" spot so we tried it. Prices & location definitely reflect it being high end. Menu was decently designed with choices that made sense for a long running location.... So the setup is there, the execution is not. All the details were missing in the space. Little things that we could've looked away from if service was on point, but they were there. The server was rushed, inattentive and uninspiring. For an almost $500 meal, we expect more. Our $20+ cocktails that are served table side were dropped with no care of execution and no explanation- a cocktail that changes colors when mixed, which is its allure, dropped without announcement and mixed without the eyes of the table being called to look. What a miss. Questions about the menu were answered robotically and care about the experience was lack luster. She did not engage. I LOVE eating out to be served and I expect it to meet the price of the place. We received counter service help at a "special occasion" restaurant. My $120 crab came out cold. Like ICE COLD. I'm not naïve enough to think it's truly fresh just because I'm in Alaska, so I know they're working with a frozen product, but please at least master the execution of a product that is special because it's from your locale. To make matters worse the server didn't notice because she did not care enough to do a 2 minute / 2 bite check back. I had to flag down what must've been a food runner or busser to let her know and then it took some time. The server did offer a cup of soup while I waited, the manager did drop off the remake with an apology, they did buy us a dessert. All the right things to correct that issue and I very much appreciated that effort. However the lack of care by the server and the sub par food was just not worth the price tag, nor should it allow them to hold the title or recommendation of a "special occasion" dining spot. I can imagine at the height of this establishments time, they were well executed, delicious and so worth the cost. They need to do a deep dive of their choices and investments and decide if they still want to be in the game because their current state will lead to a slow and untimely death. The bread - delicious, we asked for another basket, she rolled her eyes. The salads - ok. The halibut - nothing to write home about. The king crab - cold crab is never impressive unless it's a buffet or sushi. The sides on the main dishes - no flavor The baked Alaska - do not serve things that should be representative of your area if you don't plan to execute! Overall a disappointment and I hope this gets read by someone that actually cares to make a difference because it has the bones but nothing good is hanging on it.

My friend and I were seated for a quiet Sunday morning brunch and were looking forward to a delicious meal. We were pleased with the breakfast potatoes and warm bread, however we miss the muffins that were once served for brunch service. Our pancakes came 5 layers high with a delicious blueberry compote. We were disappointed with the consistency of the eggs, they almost tasted like the weird boxed or powered egg product. Our service was friendly and attentive. While Simon's used to be the go to spot, it has become a place to go only every once in a while with visitors.

I came here on the recommendation of a family member and it was fine; I had the french onion soup - which was good and heart, but needed a bit more salt or flavor. Then, I tried one of the dishes they are known for - the halibut stuffed with crab. It was very good - but I did find myself digging to find crab - but it was flavorful, a great portion, and the sides were well cooked as well. Service was great - I sat at the bar on a weekday and the place was still filling up pretty quickly - and they have a great view across the bay. Overall, it was a nice dining experience.

This place was overpriced and overrated. It didn't seem that crowded and yet it took a decent amount of time to be shown to our table and even longer to receive our drinks, bread, entrees, etc. I had the fish and chips which was average. The fish actually had a bony texture but good flavor. Stressing the overpriced nature, I spent just as much on alcohol as we did on two entrees. Happy I got to try a "fancy" restaurant but wouldn't come back again.

Really solid spot near the water! The lunch box is a good portion for $25. The shrimp scampi was tasty. I think like most places somewhat expensive but really yummy. Ambiance is good!

Had high expectations for our dinner here. We failed to secure a reservation and didn't want to wait, so we camped out at the bar until a table in the bar opened. The food was good, just not as epic as I'd hoped. The view was lovely!

    Roasted chicken Dijon

Natalie was AMAZING!! Great recommendations, personable & friendly! The roasted chicken Dijon, prime rib & the hot crab & artichoke dip were SPECTACULAR!! HIGLY RECOMMEND this place and if you're lucky, you'll get Natalie!!

This restaurant def has a beautiful view of the water really. I loved that the restaurant was able to accommodating putting both of our parties next to each other. Our server wasn't really friendly which made things a little awkward she seemed annoyed when we were asking about the wines from the gentleman that was helping us in the lobby area. There was a little bit of a wait on the food but we were warned about that when we got seated. The food was very really good. The restaurant was pretty warm inside def needs AC or some fans to circulate some air inside made it really stuffy inside.

Walked in to celebrate Father's Day. Got seated right away. If it was not cloudy and rainy that day, the view would have been very good - seeing the mountains and the water. We tried the Father's Day special which included a 3-course dinner. Our server Swapnil was friendly, attentive and gave excellent service. The New England clam chowder was good and flavorful but not that rich compared to other clam chowders I've had. House salad with dressing of your choice was good. The prime ribs were tender. It came with mashed potatoes and Seafood trio, which had shrimp, salmon, and scallops with mashed potatoes, carrots and some other vegetables, was very tasty. The dinner ended with creme brulee (I super like!) and cheesecake. Prices were not cheap; food was high quality. Great service and views.

Simons is not a regular dinner spot for us. But we thought we'd give it another try. Amazing views from bar area & restaurants itself. Which makes this a great tourist spot downtown. The service, drinks & apps were enjoyed. Dinner not so much, so we have pivoted to happy hour in the bar when we do visit. We can relax have couple drinks & enjoy some apps and enjoy the beautiful views. On occasion there is a special you can have as a meal or app we just get the app version same amount of whatever it is without the added sides. We really try to support our local restaurants special off tourist time.

What is the recommended attire for dinner?

I'd say dressy/casual. We were traveling and went in jeans and nice tops, while others were in slacks and dresses, but did not feel out of place.

Does Simon's still have a Happy Hour? If so hours and what days?

the happy hour is every day from 2:30pm-5:30pm

Would they be able to accommodate a vegetarian for dinner?

There are vegetarian options on the menu

All three were delicious and tasted freshly made. For my meal, I ordered the fish & chips, which were very good. I was a little disappointed that one piece of fish was missing batter on one side, but overall everything was still quite tasty. The bathrooms were clean, and I found the staff to be generally friendly, aside from a few comments that we chose to let slide. Most often, I leave a steak house thinking I could make a better steak for a fraction of the price at home. This was not the case here. The service was also good, which is a nice change for the area. We live here and quite frankly, the service in the Anchorage area is usually pretty marginal. So, that was a pleasant surprise. However, the sides are quite expensive and billed as "family style" but they are a single serving really. The exception was the Parker House rolls which I think came out 5 to an order. They were pulled apart and the sides of the rolls were dry, as if they had been plated up and set under a heat lamp for too long. The risotto was prepared incorrectly. It was mushy with no hint of the classic al dente. I think if they can't take the time to cook that dish correctly, they should consider taking it off the menu as it is a marker for a good meal in my opinion. The wedge salad was pretty standard fare, with a couple of heirloom tomato slices that were also mushy (although, I can forgive that given where we live as the lettuce was crisp and nice) The other side we ordered was a special, fiddlehead ferns, served braised. They were tasty, and the best non steak item we had, but a small portion and, I think $23, which seemed quite expensive. I think the next time we go, we will just share a steak with a glass of wine and skip the overpriced 15-25 side dishes.

However this was my birthday dinner so I was particularly disappointed. I reserved a table for three in the whisky bar area. We arrived about five minutes early and were told by one of the hostesses that the party at the table just paid and should be leaving soon. About 20 minutes passed before another said the party still had not left even though one of them talked to the server. Eventually I agreed to have us seated in the main dining room. Almost immediately afterward I saw two parties leave the whisky bar so I asked to be moved there, which according to one of the hostesses is where we originally supposed to be. It was over 30 minutes later when we finally got the table I reserved. This left a sour taste in my mouth and I considered leaving at one point, but I was really looking forward to this dinner. For dinner I ordered the Komorebi Old Fashioned and the Dark Horse as I often do, We also shared the whisky pork buns and everything was delicious. Dessert was not as enjoyable. I ordered their espresso martini, the Electric Stolt, which was decent enough. Lacking on the coffee flavor in my opinion. I also ordered the chocolate birthday cake which, aside from the cherries in the cake, tasted like any generic cake you would get from a grocery store. Their other desserts, like the matcha panna cotta and goma silk bar, are much more flavorable. Service overall was fine, but we got the check before my boyfriend could order another drink so we felt somewhat rushed out. Considering this is the only time I've had issues with being seated for reservations, I would go back, but this was my least pleasant dining experience here, unfortunately.

Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. You will love it!

I was hosting a professional client for dinner as well as a business meeting. From the moment we arrived, every detail radiated excellence--from the impeccable service of your servers and staff, especially our waiter Keegan to the exquisite quality of the food. It was crystal-clear that excellence was a key ingredient interwoven into everything prepared by the executive chef,Jamaal. The meal was beyond compare, especially the special touch of having anchovy with my Caesar salad -- a detail that made it even more perfect. when I ordered my Caesar salad, I mentioned to our waiter that I really enjoyed ancho fillets in my salad. He initially stated that he wasn't sure they carry a chocolate fillets, but rather include it in the dressing. Nonetheless, the waiter Keegan took the time to approach the chef and ask about my request for an ingredients I truly enjoyed. To my astonishment and delight, the anchovy fillets appeared along with my Caesar salad! Your entire staff's attention to the finer touches truly made us feel welcomed and valued, a reflection of your mastery and genuine care regarding your dining clientele. Everyone worked seamlessly to create an atmosphere that emphasized receiving special attention and high-level, VIP care as well as warmth. It was an absolute pleasure, and I am grateful for the special memories created that day. I look forward to returning soon! I would absolutely recommend Sullivan's steakhouse in downtown Anchorage to anyone who has not had the pleasure of dining there!

The restaurant was lively, the bar was packed, and it was obvious that service was still in full swing. Nothing about the atmosphere suggested they were closing early or winding things down. Despite this, I was immediately told they were "closed," and the interaction felt more like someone trying to cut me off at the door than giving an honest explanation. It was disappointing, especially considering that the place was still operating as usual and serving everyone already inside. If an establishment is truly closing early for the holiday, that's understandable but at least make it clear or adjust the posted hours so customers aren't misled. Instead, it came across as rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. Being turned away while the restaurant is clearly open doesn't just feel unwelcoming it feels like the opposite of hospitality. This was not the experience I expected from a place with Sullivan's reputation, and it honestly left a bad taste before I ever got a bite.
