Salmon Bites
Tanya Y.

First time in Alaska and I was really just passing through Anchorage to where I was going, but I'm so glad I stopped here. Solo traveling, but they had no hesitation seating me at a booth even with their steady flow of customers. Everyone I interacted with was very hospitable and I appreciated that they didn't rush me. My server gave me recommendations and was willing to check out all the filtered tea bag options for me (I declined and just asked if he could check if they had green tea). I loved the clam chowder and salmon bite plate! I finished both and I'm normally a full on half a plate kind of person. It wasn't that I wasn't full, it was just that delicious. There is a bit of an elevated feel to the space, but still like you can dine in with nice casual clothes. This will be a stop for me the next time I'm in town.

On vacation and came here our first night as it was local to where we stayed after a long flight. Gotta say some great comforting chowder after hardly eating all day. And I absolutely loved that they gave an option for a chowder flight so got to try more than one. The place was nice and open. Service was also very good. If you're in the area and want some nice warm chowder this is definitely a place to go.

Must try spicy shrimp pasta. With calibrian chilies.

Great food. All fresh ingredients. Yummy salmon chowder (the best Inhave ever tasted). Great service. Very kid friendly. Awesome ambiance.

Stopped in for dinner. First off the food is for the most part very good. Service is also great. The downside is that it's overpriced. I had a small steak with bordelaise sauce, mashed potatoes, and a few scallops and it was just over $80. The steak was medium rare as requested but the rub was way too salty and the bordelaise made it worse. Too much of a good thing wasn't good. For the price I was pretty bummed out hence the 3 star rating. Chowder and the burger were also ordered by my party. Those were great. If you order the steak, pass on the sauce or request lighter seasoning. Calamari was very good. Overall it's a good dinner spot for a special occasion but definitely on the expensive end for what you get. Nice quiet dining area is a big plus compared to other similar spots in Anchorage.

Best Bone Marrow in the entire city! I love so many things about this place that it's hard to not mention everything. The atmosphere is creative, elegant yet the staff is so friendly and laid back. They're very professional and happy. That's important. I love their bone marrow the best and their many creative menu items set them apart from any restaurant in Anchorage. They have a phenomenal Rib Eye and their seafood dishes are delicious. I love that they offer a wide variety of wines to include French and Italian wines. Eat the chocolate cake. This is a true Spenard Gem!

The chowder flight - a great choice

Was in Anchorage visiting for work so a friend took me out to experience some Alaskan food. We came here and wow, a wonderful place. Greeted nicely by the staff, the server knew all their stuff, answering all our questions confidently. I went with the chowder flight and it was delicious. Paired in with a nice Pinot. On top of great company, it was a wonderful evening. Highly recommend and will come again.

The freshest halibut I've ever eaten.

In town briefly after returning from an Alaskan cruise. Stayed one night near the airport so I googled nice restaurants in the area and Alaska Chopped and Chowder popped up. Just a 10 min walk from our hotel. I had the Chowder Flight and ate every bit of all 3. The clam chowder was rich and creamy. The salmon chowder was flavored well and the Manhattan Chowder was simply delicious. I also ordered the fish and chips because the reviews gor the halibut were great. The halibut was very fresh. My husband had the burger special and ate too quick for a picture. Would love to try other dishes if we are ever in the city again

I had high hopes for this restaurant. The service and ambiance were excellent, and the presentation of the food was beautiful. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't live up to the presentation, which made the meals feel overpriced. I initially thought it might have just been my dish, but others in my party felt similarly about their meals. I wish I had ordered something different, as I'd like to give the restaurant another chance. While the experience itself was enjoyable, the food simply didn't meet our expectations.

Hands down a must try in Anchorage! We came here based on all the rave reviews Yelp! We were able to grab a last minute reservation which I recommend...we saw some walk ins and the wait was quite long given the popular turn out All the portions were quite generous so recommend coming and ready to share! Loved the clam chowder flight and each flavor was super distinct and delicious. The special sea bream I got was also fantastic and was a very heavy serving. Like other reviews, you can tell that the quality of ingredients is super fresh and they keep to seasonal offerings The staff was attentive and kind, and took the time to write down for us other restaurant recommendations to try while we were in town. Overall 5/5 on all levels!

The chef is trained from Le Cordon Bleu her husband our waiter and bartender told us. It's our first time here and we booked a reservation for Judy's mom to take us out as we do so many favors for her as she's 82 she offered dinner! A favorite beer of mine Broken Tooth Raspberry Wheat was ordered immediately! Mom got a glass of Prosecco and Judy Matanuska Blue Berry a favorite of hers. We started with the fantastic Sea Harvest chowder which had a medley of various seafoods in creamy chowder. I could taste the white pepper which is a mellow heat. Really Delicious! Then what to order as main. Did you know they bring in their sliced bread from Maine for their authentic Lobster Rolls? Okay that cinched it for me. 2 Packed Lobster rolls hit the table with a side salad where I got the Raspberry Vinaigrette as a dressing. Excellent meal! Excellent atmosphere too! We had reservations for 4:45 since mom's up there in age by the time we left the restaurant it was filling up nicely! Seems to be a great new restaurant in Spenard!

It was Good. But lemme tell you about it to help you make up your mind! First time eating here, wasn't disappointed. Ate here as a party of five. All staff was very happy and pleasant and welcomed us in and seated us. Our waitress was attentive, not in the way, but just right checking back in. She helped us with extra spoons for our many flights of chowder for sharing. We ordered as appetizers: Calamari and Halibut Bites. Both were tasty with a light batter so as not to hide the real flavor. We also ordered a main dish for all, See Pics. We ordered: Rib-eye, Scallops Carbonara, Shrimp Penne Pasta, and lastly a salmon Bliss Bowl. Good: Scallops were flavored and cooked to Perfection! The Copper River Salmon was tremendously flavorful and was really complimented by the flavorful party members in the bowl with it. The Shrimp was also very tasty seasoned and went very well with the Penne Pasta. Bad: This was Not Even that Bad, just trying to be fair for a thorough review. I would order it again! the rib-eye steak was cooked to my preference med. rare. And it was boldly seasoned and seared. Kudos to the chef and the management that understands a good sear Locks in that flavor! Thank you! So where's the bad you say? lol. Well the ends of the steak ended up becoming well-done. This is a result of the tapering thickness of the steak and would be challenging for most to overcome. You can avoid it by choosing a steak that is of a uniform thickness. Now, Like I said, it was not even that bad, the steak was flavorful and I would order again. Don't be concerned. This is a good Alaskan seafood and beef joint. All in our party was satisfied! It stands head & Shoulders above many of its competitors. I for one hope they stick around! Thanks for reading this review and I truly hope it helps you make a decision that results in eating here. You will not be disappointed. - J

Service was great but the 1lb of red King crab had no flavoring (lemon didn't seem sufficient) and didn't come out hot enough. The crab also cut my hands up because the kitchen doesn't pre cut it for you. It came with one small scoop of mashed potatoes for $132. I enjoyed 1 of the 3 chowder flights.

A flight of 3 Chowders and Caesar Salad

Yelp to the Rescue On the last day of exploring Anchorage and finding hidden things, we found ourselves hungry for lunch. This spot seemed to fit the bill nicely as we were hungry and hot, so a nice sit-down was lovely. The photos on Yelp did a great job in helping us select not only this restaurant but also the lunch menu. Service was excellent, and our waiter was thorough in explaining all the options. At the top of the list was the Chowder Flight, which was excellent. Complimented with a Caesar Salad and iced tea, we had a fine lunch.

A small house salad, seafood chowder, Halibut bites, a side of jasmine rice & a glass of wine.

Our table had the following: 6 oysters Rockefeller, 1 fried calamari, a half size blackened halibut Cesar salad, a grilled ribeye steak and an Alaskan halibut fish and chips. Food notes: the oysters were super fresh and delicious, perfectly cooked so that they were only broiled on top and still almost rare below. However the toppings could've been improved with better bacon, and maybe a touch more spinach. Even a small dollop of Béarnaise sauce would've been better than the Parmesan. Nevertheless this was probably my favorite bite of the night. The halibut on the fish & chips was also fresh flaky and really tender. The chips were like thin steak fries that had been battered but were still under seasoned. They weren't great, and no one ate them even our toddler who loves fries. The blackened halibut on the salad was tougher, and dry. There were too many store-bought croutons and the salad dressing was possibly store-bought too and bland for a Cesar. The ribeye was totally sad. It was quite thin and unimpressive especially for the cost. It came with more of those dismal fries and some plain broccolini. Our steak-loving dinner companion only ate about half and didn't care to doggy-bag the rest so it went to waste. Calamari was average, and came with two oily amateur-chef looking sauces, one mayo flavored and one somewhat spicer was basically the same as the first. Our excellent waiter mixed up a cocktail sauce himself that blew the other sauces out of the water. Bravo to him. He was the best while waiting on us also, quick to refill a water or retrieve more drinks from the bar. Good thing the Rockefeller was great, I'd be back for that alone ($6/per oyster) but otherwise I don't think I'd rush back to Fletcher's. Many other eateries in the area that are tastier, with equally difficult parking.

If you're in Anchorage, this is a must restaurant to check out. We loved it.

Be prepared that it still takes a while to get your food after you order. We shared a large pizza that was half Call of the Wild and half Amazing Apricot Pizza. There is an upcharge to do half and half which is a little annoying, but I'm glad they let you do it so that you can try more. The Amazing Apricot was my favorite. It was an interesting combination of flavors. Despite the name, it wasn't overly sweet and the chicken was delicious. The Call of the Wild was also good, but I wanted it to be a little saucier. We were both happy that we had enough for leftovers the next day. Next time, I'd probably coordinate a takeout order to be ready when I want it to cut down on the wait. They have so many unique pizzas that I think this is a must try while in Anchorage.
