Chowder with bread
Danielle V.

Stopped in for dinner. First off the food is for the most part very good. Service is also great. The downside is that it's overpriced. I had a small steak with bordelaise sauce, mashed potatoes, and a few scallops and it was just over $80. The steak was medium rare as requested but the rub was way too salty and the bordelaise made it worse. Too much of a good thing wasn't good. For the price I was pretty bummed out hence the 3 star rating. Chowder and the burger were also ordered by my party. Those were great. If you order the steak, pass on the sauce or request lighter seasoning. Calamari was very good. Overall it's a good dinner spot for a special occasion but definitely on the expensive end for what you get. Nice quiet dining area is a big plus compared to other similar spots in Anchorage.

A small house salad, seafood chowder, Halibut bites, a side of jasmine rice & a glass of wine.

Alaska Chopped & Chowdered is a hidden gem in Anchorage. The food is fabulous with great service and ambiance. Visited this fine establishment each time I'm in Anchorage and they never disappoint. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Hands down a must try in Anchorage! We came here based on all the rave reviews Yelp! We were able to grab a last minute reservation which I recommend...we saw some walk ins and the wait was quite long given the popular turn out All the portions were quite generous so recommend coming and ready to share! Loved the clam chowder flight and each flavor was super distinct and delicious. The special sea bream I got was also fantastic and was a very heavy serving. Like other reviews, you can tell that the quality of ingredients is super fresh and they keep to seasonal offerings The staff was attentive and kind, and took the time to write down for us other restaurant recommendations to try while we were in town. Overall 5/5 on all levels!

The chef is trained from Le Cordon Bleu her husband our waiter and bartender told us. It's our first time here and we booked a reservation for Judy's mom to take us out as we do so many favors for her as she's 82 she offered dinner! A favorite beer of mine Broken Tooth Raspberry Wheat was ordered immediately! Mom got a glass of Prosecco and Judy Matanuska Blue Berry a favorite of hers. We started with the fantastic Sea Harvest chowder which had a medley of various seafoods in creamy chowder. I could taste the white pepper which is a mellow heat. Really Delicious! Then what to order as main. Did you know they bring in their sliced bread from Maine for their authentic Lobster Rolls? Okay that cinched it for me. 2 Packed Lobster rolls hit the table with a side salad where I got the Raspberry Vinaigrette as a dressing. Excellent meal! Excellent atmosphere too! We had reservations for 4:45 since mom's up there in age by the time we left the restaurant it was filling up nicely! Seems to be a great new restaurant in Spenard!

It was Good. But lemme tell you about it to help you make up your mind! First time eating here, wasn't disappointed. Ate here as a party of five. All staff was very happy and pleasant and welcomed us in and seated us. Our waitress was attentive, not in the way, but just right checking back in. She helped us with extra spoons for our many flights of chowder for sharing. We ordered as appetizers: Calamari and Halibut Bites. Both were tasty with a light batter so as not to hide the real flavor. We also ordered a main dish for all, See Pics. We ordered: Rib-eye, Scallops Carbonara, Shrimp Penne Pasta, and lastly a salmon Bliss Bowl. Good: Scallops were flavored and cooked to Perfection! The Copper River Salmon was tremendously flavorful and was really complimented by the flavorful party members in the bowl with it. The Shrimp was also very tasty seasoned and went very well with the Penne Pasta. Bad: This was Not Even that Bad, just trying to be fair for a thorough review. I would order it again! the rib-eye steak was cooked to my preference med. rare. And it was boldly seasoned and seared. Kudos to the chef and the management that understands a good sear Locks in that flavor! Thank you! So where's the bad you say? lol. Well the ends of the steak ended up becoming well-done. This is a result of the tapering thickness of the steak and would be challenging for most to overcome. You can avoid it by choosing a steak that is of a uniform thickness. Now, Like I said, it was not even that bad, the steak was flavorful and I would order again. Don't be concerned. This is a good Alaskan seafood and beef joint. All in our party was satisfied! It stands head & Shoulders above many of its competitors. I for one hope they stick around! Thanks for reading this review and I truly hope it helps you make a decision that results in eating here. You will not be disappointed. - J

Service was great but the 1lb of red King crab had no flavoring (lemon didn't seem sufficient) and didn't come out hot enough. The crab also cut my hands up because the kitchen doesn't pre cut it for you. It came with one small scoop of mashed potatoes for $132. I enjoyed 1 of the 3 chowder flights.

Yelp to the Rescue On the last day of exploring Anchorage and finding hidden things, we found ourselves hungry for lunch. This spot seemed to fit the bill nicely as we were hungry and hot, so a nice sit-down was lovely. The photos on Yelp did a great job in helping us select not only this restaurant but also the lunch menu. Service was excellent, and our waiter was thorough in explaining all the options. At the top of the list was the Chowder Flight, which was excellent. Complimented with a Caesar Salad and iced tea, we had a fine lunch.

I do appreciate the apology and wanting to make it better from the owner. Gave it another try. Made a reservation the next day hoping it would make it easier but under a different name. Wanted to make sure the experience was a genuine one. Came unbiased. The flight of chowder was def a great taste tester (size of 1 1/2 espresso cups) but the Rustic clam chowder was really good had to get a full bowl to share. The bacon didn't overpower the chowder so it was perfect. Halibut was fried just right! Crunchy on the outside soft and flaky on the inside. Huge 3 pieces. W the tartar sauce. Perfection We very much enjoyed the fries and mashed potatoes. Crab legs were good. Butter lemon crab legs. Simple. Definitely a different demeanor when we walked in this time to the time before and were seated by the lady (not the one that was talking to me but the one who was giving the girl the information to tell me). Waitress was very sweet very attentive w us fast service. She was one of the highlights bc she was so funny and laidback. Hopefully the family that also got kicked out the same time as us the day prior had the opportunity to come back w no issues.

This place is sensational. Anchorage... can we have MORE OF THIS? First, can we talk about the ambiance?!?! Holy moly!!! I felt like I was back on the East Coast. Its fancy, but without the obnoxious pretense. Because my husband and I were both still in our work clothes and they didn't give us any funny looks. And when you walk in, it looks like it's the kind of place where that might happen. But nope, it still has the Alaskan nice people vibe. Yay- the perfect blend of fine dining and chill peeps who understand the environment. The menu is also very Alaskan and well thought out. The delivery left a little to be desired, which is why I gave 4 stars, but it was still tasty. And they have a sommelier, which is rare in Anchorage, so that is Dope! WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!

As big chowder heads me and my husband had to stop in here. They had really upscaled the interior from the previous village inn design while keeping the layout which works well. The staff was super friendly and helpful, giving us the idea to order the chowder sampler. We got the Rustic, Salmon, and Sea Harvest. They were all delicious, I personally leaned to the rustic, and him the sea harvest, he was a big fan of the corn in it. Their Soudough breadbowl was perfection, a really sour delicious smell and crunch exterior.

4.4 stars Since I was staying in the area, I decided to come to this restaurant after viewing their menu via Google maps. These were my orders: Lobster roll (MP): This was good, but it was a tad too salty for me. The celery added the perfect crunch and the lobster was meaty and plentiful. The sides were either french fries or salad & I went with the salad. Since I got there before 4pm, my order was the lunch price. Today, it was $31 for this entree. 4/5 stars. Chowder Flight ($9): this order comes with a choice of 3 types of chowder. I chose the Alaskan Rustic Chowder, Sea Harvest Chowder, & Manhattan Chowder. Hands down, my favorite is the Sea Harvest Chowder! It had the perfect consistency with the perfect amount of savory and good seafood-to-veg ratio. I wish I could ship a whole vat home! 5/5 stars for Sea Harvest. The others were good and can beat any chowder LA has, but Sea Harvest is the goat. My server was Philip and I thought he was great! No complaints. Ambiance is definitely sleek and intimate. Good for casual dining or quiet date or solo dining. Plenty of parking outside. If I lived in Anchorage, I'd definitely come back for the chowders.

Used Open Table to reserve a table for 3 for lunch. It was not busy whwn we arrived. I ordered 2 flights of chowders as it is my first time so I had to try all 5 chowder. I think my favorite was the Dawson. I forgot what chowder was what bc it's not labeled. Labeling would be a great help. I did not like the Manhattan (tasted and felt like veggie soup. The Buffalo chicken was tasty but just not a chowder in my brain. I also ordered the fried green beans which were very good! Space looked adequate, there was seating at the bar as well. To the person I assume was a manager. Be mindful of your surroundings. You have customers that can hear you talking. Our waitress did a great job!

The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. You will love it!

Nice quaint family run local restaurant. I would try the Alfredo next time assuming they make the sauce in house?
