We recently ordered delivery from Clucker's... it was phenomenal. I've eaten many many many chickens in my day, and this was perfection. We ordered a whole bird with a side of roasted potatoes (Rosemary Reds) and greens beans - plus the mole and Clucker's style sauces - and the cornbread... we also added a side of Mac and Cheese. The chicken was perfectly moist with a solid rub that had a great smokiness and rosemary flavor. It paired BEAUTIFULLY with both sauces. The mole negro is a bit thicker than I'm used to, but is perfect for the chicken, it's most like a peanut sauce consistency. The Clucker's sauce, a play on a honey mustard, is closer to a chutney - spectacular. Potatoes were perfectly seasoned with some roasted onions, they weren't super crispy but I attribute that to delivery (they were still a 5/5). Green beans were nicely blanched and had a strong fresh garlic flavor. Mac and cheese is not baked and more gooey - I prefer that, although a lot of people (my wife included) prefer it baked. Cornbread was delightful, but I'd get the corn tortillas next time, especially with that mole. If I could rate this place above 5 stars, I would, and we had delivery! I can't speak to the ambiance. But when recently walked past there, it looks great inside and has a patio, and the food, just from looking at people's plates, was memorable. Do support this awesome establishment! I've always seen the distinctive Cluckers car/truck bopping around and finally stopped in on a weeknight for dinner before a show at HPHS. My companion is vegetarian and had a variety of options. We ordered at the counter and picked a table. I ordered the grilled salmon with cornbread and green beans, and my companion had the chili. Chili was a large portion and she enjoyed it. The salmon had grill marks and a charred taste and was cooked well. It was the first day it had been on the menu, I would order it again. Green beans still had a bite to them which was exactly what I wanted. Mushy green beans are unappetizing. Corn bread was sweet. While living in the city, we try to find reasons to venture out to this location when we drive back from the northern suburbs. We weren't given enough silverware, so we requested more and got handed a basket with silverware. I went to place it on the table and it laid unevenly, so I lifted it up and found what looked like a black rubber stopper. After inspecting it more, I realized it was a rubber chair foot covering. How the hell it ended up on the table, I don't really know, except I'm pretty sure it was stuck onto the bottom of the basket that they gave me. Regardless- how unsanitary. How was something that should be on the bottom of a chair, make its way on top of a table?? And when I brought it to the attention of one of the workers- he "apologized" like it was no big deal. We stayed nice and dry and I enjoyed a Chicken Lasagna (special) that was filled with shredded chicken and layers of melty cheese. The restauraunt was a bit cold and each time the door opened a burst of cold air filled the place, making it uncomfortable. My husband had the chicken tacos. Three generous tacos, filled with chicken and topped with pico de gallo, cheese and salsa. He would have liked cilantro sprinkled on top. It came with beans and rice. First off, heads up that you order directly at the counter when you walk in, and then you can pick any spot you like it's a pretty spacious joint with plenty of seating. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout, which is always a plus. A small note on the drinks I was a bit bummed they were out of a few things I was looking forward to, especially the pineapple, Jamaica, and even the peach tea. I had my heart set on that pineapple drink. But let's get to the good stuff the food.You absolutely have to try the BBQ brisket sandwich. Seriously, it's out of this world, way better than anything I've tasted at other local BBQ spots. I'd definitely recommend it over the chicken sandwiches, though those are decent too. And don't even think about leaving without getting some mac and cheese it's deliciously creamy and a total winner. I also tried the Cajun chicken sandwich with a spicy kick. It was good, but the spicy was just okay not as fiery as I'd hoped and the taste was not to good. Next time, I think I'll just stick to the original version. The roasted beet apple salad was delicious and highly recommend with grill chicken. Clucker's rotisserie chicken is delicious, juicy and tender. The brick chicken is more spicy - there's a little heat in the seasoning - but not too hot, just enough to keep things exciting. And once I dipped it in some pesto sauce, the sweet-savory tango began and before I knew it I had eaten more than I planned and was tempted to drink the rest of the sauce. Y-UM. I had a sweet potato for my side and it was the best sweet potato I ever had! I don't know how they prepare them (maybe steamed?) but I didn't need to put anything on it and it was perfectly tender. Though we've had Clucker's delivery a couple of times, this time we tried eating in the dining room and found it to be im-peck-able. It's just a joint, of course, so if you're looking for fine dining, you're basically clucked. We wondered about it being open to the street on a very hot and humid evening but the air conditioning kept up and we were comfortable. The food is basic chicken (note the name) but it's good and the pot pies are terrific. One drawback is the clunky ordering at the front counter but, when there's an experienced person at the register I'm sure that generally works just fine . I asked about the Cluckers sauce and was promptly brought a sample with homemade chips to try. It's a honey mango sauce with the slightest spice on the finish. A little too sweet for me but delicious and unique. The portions are huge so either go really hungry, plan to share, or plan on at least one if not two meals of leftovers. The half a chicken ain't no skinny little thing! We have enough chicken to make some chicken salad with the leftovers the hubs and I brought home. They have an outdoor area which is fantastic and some parking in a small parking lot however there is also street parking if you were lucky enough to find one. The quality food is definitely on a higher level. What a great place for great chicken on the north shore. I've passed this restaurant more times than I can count and finally decided to come in and give it a try. The space is nice, big and inviting. There are plenty of tables and the windows are big in the front, they open on nice summer days. We ordered the half chicken- with rice and beans side, the chicken Caesar salad, chicken tenders (4) kids meal, the Mac and cheese kids meal, corn bread muffin and a slice of berry pie. Each kids meal came with a drink and the Mac and cheese even came with a good sized portion of chicken. The chicken was juicy and tasty! Very very good and flavorful and and added bonus to be able to dip it in some delicious charcoal staple sauce- which is pretty much a honey based sweet sauce. The chicken doesn't need the sauce but it definitely tastes great with it. The pesto sauce was also good, good flavor. The Mac and cheese was a big portion and the tenders came with fries. The salad portion is very generous and there is ample pieces of chicken on top of it. The corn bread though I thought was a bit too dry for my liking. The slice of pie was good, crumbly and the right amount of sweetness, not too sweet at all. Will definitely be coming back to this place for more chicken. My food was absolutely delicious and one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My mom rated the 2350 salad highly, a 10/10 in her words. My dad got the wrap and described it as hardy and he gave it a solid 9/10. Keep in mind the portions are HUGE and we did bring home many boxes. However, the service was not up to par. The food did not come out at the same time and my dad's wrap ended up taking 15 minutes longer than the rest of our food. The chicken beignets came shortly after. The ambiance was great, not busy but not empty and the tables were clean. The bathrooms have lights that are motion activated so when I was in there they did turn off without warning and I had to reactivate them by walking in front of the sensor. Although the service and ambiance weren't five star worthy, the food, in my opinion, outweighs the minor inconveniences these issues were. I recommend coming and it was very delicious! read more
