Yesterday's visit was not quite a five-star experience. I would rate it a 4.5, but I'm rounding up. I have always enjoyed the ambiance here. It's cool and a little quirky, which feels very consistent with the overall vibe of Venice. Also, the service was excellent, as the employees were friendly and attentive. And, as we've come to expect, the food was absolutely delicious. The only issue was that my cornbread, beans, and ribs were all served at room temperature. The mac and cheese was the only item I ordered that was served hot. This was a bit disappointing. Anyone can have a slightly off day, so we will definitely be back, and I'm hopeful this issue will be corrected. I still believe the incredible flavor of the food here can't be beat.

While waiting for our order, I observed a man enter from outside. Without washing his hands, he was instructed to go behind the counter and bag our food. Although the food was already in containers, he did touch our utensils, which was concerning. Fortunately, we didn't end up needing them, so I didn't make a fuss at the time.

I've never really believed in Yelp, but I made an account just for this place! I loved it, walked up to being greeted by a beautiful hostess who was friendly and seemed genuinely excited to see us, like an old friend. She guided us through the awesome place to the patio where we were sat at what looks like a homemade row of tables, possibly cut from the same log? I dunno, I'm a bit of a furniture fanatic. Either way, awesome design and atmosphere. Our server was over in a matter of seconds even though the place seemed pretty busy. We had no idea what we wanted! But she quickly started to guide us through the menu. I knew immediately that I was going to want to go for the BBQ section, while my girlfriend was leaning towards the rib-eye. Drinks came out fast, and our server was there at the moment we finished them to bring another round! The food took a bit longer, but nothing unreasonable. My girlfriend had ordered her rib-eye rare and the manager came out about 15 minutes after we had ordered and said that it had been a little over-cooked so they were re-doing it and it would be out shortly. We were happy to wait for the food to be correct. And it came out not only correct, but perfect. When they set the rib-eye down I knew I had made a mistake getting the BBQ. It was so juicy and perfect with gorgeous mashed potatoes and some asparagus. But then they gave me my tri-tip and cheesy grits and I knew I was not going to be disappointed. I haven't seen tri-tip cooked like that since I used to live in Texas. It was incredible. The prices were a tiny bit more than I would have liked, but it is Venice, and if something doesn't cost you, then people aren't going to go there. All in all, one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time, from service to food quality to price. I can't wait to come back to this place and explore the menu even more! read more

This is definitely turning into a new hotspot here in Venice. Although only open for a couple of months Clutch already seems to have established a loyal following. It's wonderful laid-back atmosphere is attracting a fun local crowd that seems to be coming back time and again. Great place to meet people 98 % of the dishes I have tried so far were incredibly delicious. (only couple of exception when they first rolled out the full menu. Since then I have been nothing but impressed) The Smoked Oysters are succulent, the chicken wings are ambrosial (best wings I have ever had) and their mix and match BBQ protein + side combo platters offer plenty of variety to keep it exciting. Wow!! This place is amazing my husband and I drove up from Long Beach to eat there. It was worth the drive, it really only took us 25 mins with no traffic. I would have taken pictures but I ate my food so fast I could stop. We had an amazing fresh salad to start then I had the grilled corn which is truly the best I've ever had!! I had a whole grilled fish that was out of this world! My husband had the bbq pork he is from Memphis so he know his bbq.... I think a single tear of joy rolled down his face when he at ate it... So I'm going to go ahead and tell you to order it!!! The grits, Mac and Cheese oh and fries were also on point. Had an incredible dining experience at Clutch! The carnitas torta and salad were absolutely delicious--full of flavor and super satisfying. The tri-tip tacos and salsa were out of this world! And let's talk about the michelada--WOW! It had the perfect kick of lime and spice that made it the perfect pairing with our Pacifico beer on tap. The service was top-notch, our server (didn't catch his name) was super friendly and attentive, truly 5-star quality service all around. This place is amazing. Great laid back vibe with an outdoor patio. I have come here several times and so far every dish I have tried was absolutely delicious. Although they differ greatly in style, Clutch has replaced Baby Blues BBQ to fix my BBQ cravings. The ribs (dry rub) are not smothered in a sugary sauce which allows the true meaty flavors of the ribs come through. The staff is very friendly and super accommodating. Although I never had any bad experience at all, my visits to Clutch are extra special when I am lucky enough and Sarah (brown curly hair) is my server. This is the best place to eat on Lincoln in Venice. Food is fantastic every time I come it. They have a great little patio and some cool accoustic bands that roll through. Every restaurant in Venice is grimy, tourist-ridden, overpriced, vegan or just plain average. You can drive 10 minutes inland and find better. Your wallet will thank you. Your taste buds will thank you. Tacos por favor is pretty much the take-out Mexican spot you grew up going to (often out of convenience). It's Thursday night and Mom doesn't feel like cooking. Or it's lunch, and you and your broke high school friends have each scraped together $5 change for a burrito. These types of restaurants always exist better in our memories, they make us sentimental, they remind us of a simpler time when all that mattered was who had the latest video game, or who's house you could chill at, or wether you had a bike or skateboard to get around town. A few years later topics shifted to booze or weed, and eventually: chicks. All throughout, some things never change, and that's a preferred taco spot, which you cling to the way you would a favorite sports team, a religion or treasured family heirloom. There's another taco spot across town that may be better, but you would never admit that to anyone, not even yourself. As we age, these types of affiliations become a thing of the past. I was so unimpressed that I didn't even take any pictures! That is a rarity for me, as I like to show the food off and I LOVE mariscos.. The building was tiny, the location was sketchy, and not one single business close by that sells alcohol! What?? Mariscos anno beer? Gtfoh. If the food here was ridiculously good, I'd definitely be back, but it wasn't. The coctél had no flavor (tasted like water), the tostada was all imitation crab (fish), and the tacos were just ok.

Recently, I prefer Chihuahua down the street but they're closed Sunday and I needed a burrito fix. Wife and I shared a Super Deluxe with carnitas. Half was plenty of food. Good thing, as it was a shocking $18 before tax and tip. I think the big burritos were more like $12 not too long ago. Also, bit down on a piece of pork bone. At least that tells you it's made from scratch! Delicious food, and the Folks were fast and friendly too.

However, I was looking for a good deal because it just seems like I get ripped off often with the quality of food, the prices and delivery fee. Furthermore, it is not the case this time. I ordered one of their lunch specials they have listed on their grubhub tab when you click on it. I ordered the Gourmet Burrito Combo. This option includes a loaded shredded chicken burrito cooked to perfection that included refried beans. It was a wet burrito with a perfectly seasoned sauce with cheese and sour cream on top. It also came with a side of rice and a drink. Moreover, if that's not enough they also includes chips & salsa at no extra cost. Service & Ambiance. The delivery service arrived 15 minutes earlier than expected and the driver was professional with a clean and neat appearance. You could tell the driver Alberto, cares about the cleanliness of his car as well. The lunch special was $14.50 and with the tax, fees, delivery and tip it was only $21.48. It was around 90 degrees outside, and there was no air conditioning and not even a fan running inside. I ate my food and left as quickly as I could because I was literally sweating while trying to eat. It was impossible to sit there and enjoy my meal. What concerned me even more was the cook working in that heat. The only air coming into the restaurant was through the open front door, with no other windows or noticeable ventilation. I can easily see a situation where an employee could become overheated or even faint working under those conditions. This gives customers the impression that the owner simply doesn't care about the experience or the working conditions of the employees. On a 90-degree day, having no AC is bad enough, but not providing even basic fans or ventilation is unacceptable. Shame on the ownership for allowing customers and especially their employees to deal with this kind of heat.
