We were so excited to try this neighborhood spot and walked there on a beautiful early evening, hoping we had found a local hidden gem for Mexican food. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. After getting settled, I was questioned about my service dog simply for trying to use the restroom, and after reluctantly having to explain and describe the service she provides, the interaction turned mocking and dismissive. As someone who has lived in this community for over twenty years, it's disheartening that people with service animals still have to endure this kind of treatment and judgment. Cinco Estrellas! We loved this authentic Mexican place. What a pleasant surprise in the midst of so many other trendy restaurants that come and go. Food was fresh, delicious and well portioned just like it came from a family kitchen. The pork carnitas platter was incredible, the meat was tender and tasted like it came from a campfire, the frijoles were soft and buttery smooth. Must go for the guac and the salsa is for real hot! The tortilla chips were thin delicate, fresh and very tasty. As for the service it was friendly prompt, and all around right. Tender, well seasoned and has the same green salsa Just a note, as of early June 2023 they didn't have a license to sell alcohol. I was really hoping for a beer with my tacos and was disappointed when I couldn't but then the food and service completely made up for it. Our waiter was very nice. Venice Beach has many beach adjacent brunch spots with long wait times. But I'm not one for crowds or what's routinely popular. So we continued on our morning beach stroll. Then made a right turn on Rose and happened upon this delicious Mexican Joint. Lucky us! Everything vegetarian on the menu looked delicious and it is! The horchata was just the right amount of cinnamon spice and the salsa freshly made this morning. The vege enchiladas were exactly what I was craving and hit the spot. Thank you guys, I'll be back. Thankfully, it wasn't crowded and I could comfortably dine outside w/ out a mask and the stress of people in close proximity.
