We stayed right across the street from Clyde's, so we gave it a try. You pretty much have to eat in your car, space inside is limited., but we took our food back to the hotel. The wife ordered a green olive Swiss burger and onion rings and I got the whitefish basket, which had 3 smallish whitefish filets some cool fries , and a little cup of slaw. The fish was very good, not very hot. Fries were limp, slaw was good, but only about a tablespoon full, $14. Burger $6, rings $4.75. Bill came to $28 and change. The wife said the burger was good, and it was, I tasted it. The meat was especially good. Rings were good too, I thought, but, again, not very hot. Wife thought they were flavorless. Our car hop was very good. Got the order straight, and in a timely manner. She was very efficient. As far as ambiance, it's a drive in, so... I gave it a three, could have been higher if food was warmer and fries were crispier and the portion of fish bigger or more of it. It's was just ok. This place is a small burger spot by the Soo Locks. It's really small but they make great food. I had something called the "Big C" the burger was a full pound of Bison beef and the burger was HUGE in fact I ate the whole thing but it was messy but still worth it because of the taste which was very delicious. It is a place well worth to eat and watch the ships go down the Locks. They also had a souvenir mug and I bought one of those as well. The staff took a few minutes to come to our car, but made up for it with a great personality. Everyone ate all of their meals without complaint (a feat w an 12 & 9 year old. First let's get the bad out of the way.... They randomly closed early the first night we were planning on going there. I guess it's understandable during the times we are in not it was still a disappointment nonetheless. I'm glad we went back the next night and they were open. Secondly, take note that they are CASH ONLY. We never carry cash and we were not told this until our order was ready. We had to hurry to the party store and hit up the ATM (while our food was waiting). Luckily it was right next door. We hadn't eaten much all day and we completely over ordered. My favorite thing was the thick and creamy cherry shake... It was so good! The burgers were perfect and they were generous with the toppings. We got the zucchini fries, which come with ranch dressing and were delicious. The onion rings were probably great when they were right out of the fryer but didn't stand up to the wait to be eaten. I have been waiting a while to write a review because I could not believe that there was any way an establishment could create such a PERFECT BURGER.. the first I had the BIG C's 3/4lb burger I thought it was a dream. It was only when I was about half way though the 3 patty monstrosity of meaty, cheesy, goodness I realize I wasn't dreaming.... I was just eating a burger sent down by Jesus himself. The only bad part about this place is that they are not open 365 days a year. Summer drive in only! Here's my advice. Go to Clyde's, get the BIG C, eat the BIG C. On day I was in sso and I was looking for something to eat so I found Clyde's drive in so I stopped and I eat there. then I was in Saint Ignace, Michigan. And I remembered there was a Clydes drive-in. So I just decided to stop and the food is excellent. The service is quick and the people are friendly. the ambience is like a diner type place you eat while people cook your food and you can eat in your car. Okay, admittedly we did not get any of the burgers that lots of other reviewers liked, and they were out of whitefish. But the food we did get was just not good. The fried chicken sandwich felt like it had been frozen minutes before being served, the fries were soggy, and the fish sandwich was chewy and thin. Hamburgers are great!! This place can get busy. My advice would be to make the orders small... we had 10 people and all the burgers were wrong... not a big deal, they were still delicious! Today's lunch was a disappointment. First, there is no indoor seating and that means no use of the restroom after a long drive from downstate that alone was frustrating. We ordered 2 of the 1/2 lb with cheese and a fry to share. The burger was cooked to hell and back with not much of any seasoning. So it was dry and flavorless. The ketchup carried us through! We used it as a lubricant to help the dry burger go down. Not sure if they have a new cook or if it's fear of mad cow disease. Don't go here if you're in a hurry. Take a deep breath and enjoy the experience. The burgers were, in short, amazing. I had the mushroom swiss burger, and the boyfriend got the "Big C". No less than 3 1/4 lb patties, with cheese between each one. He couldn't quite finish it. My burger was hot, moist, and crispy on the edges. Definitely worth a temporary lifting of the beef product ban. The burgers came in a paper wrapper, set right down on our paper place mats. Our group also had a chocolate shake, onion rings, and zucchini fries - all got rave reviews. What a find! I heard about the place and figured I'd give it a try when driving my daughter to Northern Michigan University. It exceeded all expectations. The place was packed at 2:00pm on a Thursday afternoon and it's easy to see why. I got a drive in spot. I had the 1/2 lb burger. My wife and daughter had the 1/4 lb burger. The burgers were huge, juicy and wonderful. We shared the fries, they were great too. We will try this place every trip through. The only problem is that it is so popular that the place had a long wait the last time we tried to stop in. I highly recommend the place if you're in the mood for a great hamburger. read more

Worth the Wait! This was our first stop on our family road trip. We ate in the car, of course! The burgers were amazing and messy! The kids meals come in a really fun cardboard classic car.
