I logged on to pay 1/2 my debt, they won't take it, it was declined. I wanted to pay in 2 payments, they won't accept anything except all of the debt. I'm trying to pay off all my doctor bills from the beginning of the year. EVERY one of them is accepting partial payments. This stemmed from a specialist doctor in Redlands that is part of the Loma Linda Healthcare system. I was APPARENTLY charged $773.02 for an ER service on Nov 2019. I contacted both the hospital and my insurance and I don't owe anything. I had paid my outstanding balance already in 2019. CMRE sent a letter in July 2020. When I called the customer support, a woman named Rosea (?) was not helpful at all. When asking if there's anything additional I can provide to support the dispute, all she was able to say was dispute in writing. Seeing the other reviews makes me hesitant to make contact with them again. I feel so violated the fact that they even have my information. read more

She claims she's not handling my case but the letter that I received from the company has her name and extension on it. I sent her proof of payment.. Still no follow up. If I could leave 0 stars I absolutely would. Do not trust these people, they have been apparently trying to reach me for years about a hospital bill and now wants almost 2,000 dollars from me for it but for years sending it to the wrong number and wrong address. I called about getting a paper from them and then I called the hospital relating and the slight difference was that CMRE changed the last word in the hospital name to seem like my hospital has charged me for a exam. The hospital said that I had no charges, while calling CMRE I asked for a phone number to who I can reach to talk about the actual charges but wouldn't give me the number due to "only customers/patients can be given numbers" as if I wasn't a customer trying to get billed, I asked for a itemized receipt as to what CMRE is trying to charge me and it took weeks to get the paper to me. Somewhat within those weeks I received a statement paper with the same charges stating they're all paid from my insurance. One star is too much. Definitely deserves -100 stars. I received a collections notice from them for an ambulance ride I had to take, but couldn't go to the VA hospital. The ambulance was CARE. They too are shady, but I won't get into that here. I called CMRE and explained that I talked to CARE about the bill and had no idea they sent me to collections. CMRE only wanted money, but I explained I am in the middle of suing the hospital for failure to provide forms to the VA for payment, which would have paid for the ambulance ride. CMRE said they'd place it on hold until I got things settled. Unfortunately, CMRE charged off the amount and it reflected negatively on my credit, of which I don't get, since I owed to CARE, not them. I'm not going to call them again, as it seems they just don't give a shit. When I go to court, I will include them in the suit. I will of course abide by the law as this process evolves, and CARE will get paid, not CMRE, as they played dirty and threw me under the bus. read more

I received a collection bill for a medical debt that has been paid in full. Evidentially this company had the paid "debt" for 8 days before they sent the bill and I called 5 days later the (Monday after receiving the bill on Friday) And in 14 days they tried to add $3 worth of "interest" again, for a bill that has been paid in full! I got contacted about a bill 4 years ago, I checked the patient portal for the place they are claiming I owe money and there is no outstanding balance. I know for a fact that the bill they are contacting me about has been paid! They also gave me the wrong account # to "check" the amount I owed and it is incorrect as well. ZERO stars if I could. Was checking in on my credit score and found an open collections for CMRE with the original debtor being The City of Fullerton. So like I've been taught I called the city first to see what it was for and if I could pay them for the debt. I do this with all collections and usually am able to settle the debt for less than what I owe with the original debtors. Fullerton had no idea what I was talking about and couldn't even find me in their system. Transferred me to their collection agency and they couldn't find me in their system either. Now there's a collection on my score that is bogus and I have to wait 7 years to watch it fall off. Ridiculous. read more

CMRE took a paid bill which had been in discussion with my insurance company and Atlantic Health Care and purported to be the collection agency collecting on this already paid bill. She was reluctant to give her last name, yet she has access to my full information. This lady started raising her voice at me and was very condescending in her tone as soon as I asked a question. Since I was the one who called .. you would think that I would receive better treatment and service. I received two letters from this company stating that I owed money to a certain hospital that I had been to. Confused as to why my insurance wouldn't have just been billed, I called the hospital first. I spoke with the hospitals billing department and they said that my insurance had paid my bill in full and for the visit in question, my deductible had been met at that point so I didn't even have a copay due. I told them about the collection agency and the lady in billing reviewed everything and told me that they had never contacted any collection agency as I had no balance. I went on to call the company through the phone number printed on the bill. I kept getting a recording stating that something was wrong with the phone line and to call back later. This happened over several days. I then decided to email them, and let them know that I would contact the Better Business Bureau if they did not solve this problem. Yelp needs a negative rating system for CMRE. I receive an intimidating automated call from some place I've never heard of about a debt I've never been informed about or been given an opportunity to pay, and lack the information to know if it's valid or not. I call the number and am kept on hold for 15 minutes. When a woman answers I ask what this is about and she won't tell me. I repeat my request: "Tell me in a sentence what this is about or I'll file a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Dept of the Califirnia Attorney General's Office for harrassment". Dr. John Lee of St. Joseph's Mission Hospital refused to do the PPO contract write off for my insurance. He balance bills me (yeah - he is an unprofessional jerk). Mission Viejo Emergency Medical Assn (the morons who do his billing) accepted payments then sent me to these scammers for collection with NO NOTICE. Collection agency scammers "CMRE" waits 30 days to send me an invoice, which is how I knew I got sent to colections. These assholes haven't sent me a receipt. The whole goal of a colletion agency is to collect money. I had a bill that was apparently billed incorrectly and i just found out about 6 months ago when i looked at my credit. I worked with CMRE financial and everytime both i and the insurance agency tried contacting them we would either be put to a voicemail or they would keep taking down the wrong billing information. Over and over we would tell them both the insurance and myself who to bill and no matter what they kept trying to bill incorrectly. There is just numerous issues with this collection agency. If they could simply put more effort out into doing what they are supposed to do then i wouldn't be writing this and just leave it at what it was. My 90-year-old mother received a letter from CMRE yesterday claiming she owed $104.33. The provider and account number referenced belongs to a doctor she uses, but no date of service was provided. My mother is very responsible about paying her bills and we could not understand how she could owe this money. She never received any bills from the actual medical provider for this amount, nor was it indicated on her Medicare statements. I was going to investigate further but decided to Google CMRE first. BEWARE---this is a total scam--terrifying that these perpetrators exist As far as I can tell, this is not only a theft operation but also possibly an Identity Theft operation. I had surgery and a lot of bills 9 months ago. I paid all the debt--which was stressful and hard, as anyone knows who's uninsured and gets really sick knows, but I did it. Today I received voicemail from this company. Called back, they said they had 2 collections accounts for me from the hospital I had been seen by the emergency room by, prior to my surgery etc.---and I owed $250.90. I asked what the bills were for. The guy could not tell me. I said I had cleared all my bills. He said they recently engaged his company to collect. He asked again and again for my address. I said I wouldn't give it to him until I understood what the bills were for. Asked for a supervisor---he connected me to dead air, where I waited on hold for 6 minutes. Called the hospital whose ER I'd gone to---they said my account was all up to date and I owed nothing. Recommended I call the diagnostics and lab company--called them---they reassured me my accounts were all paid. Called back CMRE 11 times. Each time a recording answered the phone, then when it was connected to a person they would hang up as I was saying Hello? The final time a woman answered the phone and she said "Is this____?" I said "Yes, I am having a problem with you guys--I want to get this straightened out." "Happy to help. What is your Social Security Number, DOB, and address?" I said, "Look, I don't want to give you that information until I understand what accounts you're calling about." She said "I can't help you," and hung up. I came to Yelp (thank GOD!!!) and see that this is a scam company. Preying on people who already are shell-shocked after having dealt with major medical situations and bills. I called to tell them my insurance company will pay the bill due to the original billing was done wrong. I even had a three way conversation with them and my insurance company to verify this. They told me and my insurance company they would send the bill to the insurance. I called two weeks later to confirm they mailed the bill to my insurance and they said yes. I find out a month later they never mailed the bill and they refused to do it now saying it's to late. They lie and deceive you and won't work with you. As expected from any collection agency, all employees here seem to be incompetent. When I paid my bill in full in early March I was told that CMRE would submit the information and it would take 14-30 days for the credit bureaus to update my credit. After months of no change I finally had the sense to call and check. A rep told me she would call me back in 5 minutes after checking my account, 45 minutes later I called back and found out that my account had SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS. They NEVER submitted the information, they continued to report that I owed money even though this was false. Instead of counting on them please always check with the credit bureaus and dispute any claims that aren't current. read more

Received a collections notice in the mail from these guys, for the "University of the Pacific School of Dentistry". I've never attended school there. Nor have I been there. I called CRME, and on one call they gave me the name of a doctor (I called, the doctor said I paid my bill) and on another call they said they couldn't provide any additional information. All the while, I've had full health insurance. I emailed them copies of my health insurance card, to which they never replied. Multiple follow up emails have revealed no clues. The bill he owes is less than they claim and the original medical institution denies ever contacting them or forwarding the bill to them because it is NOT delinquent and they don't even know who they are. What I want to know is, HOW do they get this information and continue to defraud people? However they and others like them get away with it, they must be stopped. He has asked them not to call him and has sent a letter with the appropriate information on it to them. Absolutely awful company to work with had so much trouble trying to pay the damn bill over the phone.

I have to say, after reading the reviews I was afraid to deal with this company, but it turned out surprisingly well. I received an alert on my credit report monitoring that I had a derogatory account; I had no clue what is was. Turns out it was from an emergency room visit last year related to a car accident. I had paid every bill I received, but the hospital erroneously gave one provider the wrong address and phone number. Said provider then sent the unpaid bill to CMRE, who shortly thereafter reported it to Experian and Transunion. CMRE never contacted me. They may have been given an old address and phone number, too, but I'm not hard to find through the search techniques their website claims to employ before reporting an account to the credit bureaus. As a result, my credit score dropped over 100 points. I wanted to vomit. I was literally sweating as I learned what had happened, because I have been obsessed with good credit since I turned 18. And, not only did the fool who hit me total my car, now I have pitiful credit because of her too. Thanks, whatever-your-name-was. But I digress. After paying the outstanding balance to the provider the next business day, then talking to credit counselors, the hospital, the provider, and even an attorney, I finally called CMRE. I wish I had just called them first (but, given these reviews, I was terrified to). The phone call was less than two minutes. They agreed to submit a request to Experian and Transunion to have the account permanently removed from my credit. I followed up the next week, and they confirmed the request had been submitted and a letter sent to me (ironically, to the same wrong address...). They re-sent the letter to my correct address. I called back later the same day and asked if they could fax it to me, and they did, within 10 minutes. All three representatives were friendly and helpful. That's it. Time spent worrying (and sweating) was resolved in three brief phone calls. They handled what came down to a clerical error on the part of the hospital very well. They are definitely not a fraud, as someone else wrote; the attorney I spoke to said they are one of the largest debt collection agencies in the country. (P.S., I understand others aren't going to have the same experience I did. I shared mine only so you could see one way it was handled and choose your path from there. This type of collection is not something CMRE wants to spend their time on; they were happy to close it out this easily. If you have the same type of situation, but you're not getting the same response, maybe you should try another approach? Swearing at everyone who answers their phone is likely not doing you any favors. And the time you spend ranting on Yelp you could be applying toward devising a calm, strategic resolution so you can move on with your life.) read more

After sending a letter to my address for someone else's unpaid bills, I called the agency to have them update their system and let the person in question know about the bill. They told me to mail the letter back, but did nothing to update their system so that the person in question wouldn't get their credit ruined. Very unprofessional. read more

I'm not completely sure that this company is a fraud or a scam but I do know they are horrible company. I decided not to pay them. Instead, I contacted the billind department of the hospital I went to and decided to pay through them. As it turns out, CMRE added 3 dollars to my bill that they wanted to pocket. CMRE told me if I didn't pay them immediately (the first day they ever contacted me with a phone call) that they would report me and my credit score would go down. Don't listen to them, just call your hospital directly and pay them directly. CMRE is a nasty company that operates completely unprofessionally. They should be shut down. Whether or not they are scam is irrelevant. Pay your doctor directly! These insensitive and rude calling agents don't deserve to earn any commission off your hospital bill and neither does CMRE! read more
