This company is a joke. My insurance company paid my outstanding bill on April 1st 2014, cause it was submitted to the wrong person in the first place. I had to get the information from my insurance company and fax it to CMRE. Lisa B ext. 442 was a huge help at first. She told me she would take care of it for me etc. etc. Well it's been 2 months and this is still on my credit report, and now when I called she was rude and told me pretty much that I have to wait until their reps. get a hold of Towering Imaging, and they will do it when they can. She informed me I was not first in line, when this bill has been payed since April 2013. I asked her how long this could take and she had no clue. Then she told me what all the paper work I sent is just sitting in her computer system and she has no information about her company and how it works! After sending a letter to my address for someone else's unpaid bills, I called the agency to have them update their system and let the person in question know about the bill. They told me to mail the letter back, but did nothing to update their system so that the person in question wouldn't get their credit ruined. Very unprofessional. read more

Terrible company, horrible "customer service". They called me attempting to collect an overinflated bill from (apparently) a doctor at one of the nursing homes my sister was in prior to her death from brain cancer. This doctor claimed to have seen her every day during her stay and yet I never saw him, never got any progress reports from him, nor did he treat her in any way. They just bill for $250 a day and get away with it. Then they engage an awful company like CMRE to harass the patient, even though she's dead! Do not talk to these people or give them any information. My advice is get an attorney and block their number! They are a collection agency and they epitomize the reputation of such! They called and left a vague message so I called back to find out what it was about. I never have outstanding debt so I'm concerned this is some kind of scam and thus unwilling to provide them personally information. They refused to tell me anything regarding the outstanding debt without me giving my DOB and address. To which I replied, whoever I owe money to should at the very least have provided you my address. He said for privacy purposes he needed me to confirm. I was wrongly in debt for $200 over something that I was told by both my insurance and the hospital would be covered 100% without any out of pocket payment from me. Either way this debt unknowingly to me was passed onto CMRe financial services since I didn't know there was a bill to pay in the first place. NOT ONLY DID I PAY CMRe in full not wanting to deal with financial disputes, but their agents continue to harass me and call almost everyday to collect the debt that I paid to them anyway. How can a company not know I've paid off a debt already and how can I get it through their heads that it is in fact paid off? You would think with my payment confirmation number or maybe the $200 I sent to them electronically through their website but apparently not. They're still demanding I pay the $200 that I owe them despite me already having paid in dull no questions asked and I'm starting to think this is a SCAM. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. As echoed with previous Yelpers, this is a fraudulent debt collecting company that hooks you in with real information (such as the date of your last doctor's appointment, the name of your hospital, the lab for processing your test results, the name of your health insurance company, etc.) to convince you to pay supposedly an unpaid medical bill. If you get voice mails from them, do not call back. If you receive a paper invoice from them, do not pay them anything. If you did make the mistake of giving them your credit card information (like me), cancel your credit card right away as you never know what they would do with your information. I'm really pissed as hell that I lost over $100 in fake medical bills, but moving forward I definitely am going to be extremely careful with any medical bills I receive and make a point to never pay for bills over the phone unless it is a trusted company I have dealt with in the past. BE CAREFUL EVERYONE. Shame on everyone who works for this disgusting company. I had a medical bill that I had been making monthly payments on as agreed to by the hospital. All of a sudden I received a notice in the mail from CMRE saying I owed them the debt. I contacted them to see what the notice was about. I had already made my payment to the hospital that month and was a bit confused. The rep I spoke with was actually pretty nice and informed me I needed to start making payments to them instead of the hospital. When I asked why, she said sometimes hospitals forward over open accounts to them so that they don't have to deal with them anymore. It sounded fishy. I asked if this meant that the account would show up on my credit report, in which she replied "no". She told me that the hospital had sent them my payment that month but then started insisting that moving forward I paying CMRE directly. She was able to verify my last payment to the hospital, however I was still uneasy about sending payment to them. I was having trouble logging into their site (which is extremely glitchy by the way) and still wasn't comfortable paying this "random" company that I had never heard of before. They said they would honor the agreement that I had with the hospital and could continue making monthly payments (which were due on the 20th of each month). As long as they were paid on time I would not be penalized and the account would be in good standing. I then asked her if I continued to pay the hospital directly what would happen. She confirmed that the hospital would remit my payments to them, but she couldn't guarantee that CMRE would receive them on time. If they didn't receive payment by the 20th of each month, regardless if I had paid the hospital, my account would then be reported to the credit bureaus. Again, she insisted I pay CMRE directly. A couple of weeks later (on April 1st), I made my payment to the hospital. I intentionally paid a few weeks earlier than the due date to give them time to pay CMRE, if that was indeed the case. About two weeks later, prior to the 20th, I received a notice in the mail from CMRE telling me my account would be reported to the credit bureaus. At that point I called CMRE again to see what was going on and left a message. It wasn't even the 20th of the month yet, so why was I receiving threatening notices? The following day, a rep called me back. I told her about the notice I received in the mail and she immediately got defensive and told me to calm down and stop raising my voice. I was taken aback as I wasn't raising my voice at all. It seemed as if she was already having a bad day and had an attitude from the jump. I was simply trying to figure out why I received this notice. She told me that they would send the notice out regardless if they received the payments or not. She than began reprimanding me for continuing to pay the hospital, and demanded I stop. She was completely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I asked her if CMRE had received my last payment. She confirmed that the hospital had paid them on April 11th, nine days before the due date. I also asked her if I would be penalized if I continued to pay the hospital directly, as long as they received payment on time. She said that I wouldn't. So......what is the problem? Why are you being so pushy about me paying you direct? Again, If you are receiving the money, prior to the due date, why are you pressing me to pay you directly? CMRE has done NOTHING to confirm that they are legitimate and not a scammer, THAT'S why I don't feel comfortable paying them directly. The fact that they are receiving the payments on time but are upset about the fact that the payments aren't coming directly from me to them is mind blowing. When have you ever heard of a creditor that is upset for receiving money!? I have tried for almost two months to pay off a debt, my LAST account with them, as i had been paying off my other debts listed with them for several months leading up to this issue. They sent me around the phone tree too many times to count and ALWAYS hung up on me. While I was trying to pay them! I was trying to do exactly what they wanted from me. I emailed so many times with no response. Today I FINALLY got a real human and they told me they don't email. The email they have listed is just for them to receive emails and not respond. Pardon? How stupid do you have to be to buy a line like that? The person I spoke to also said that I actually have 3 accounts left with them. One is from 4 years ago for $30 that I was never made aware of in any format. Do you honestly think I'd leave such a small charge to gain interest for four years? Fraud. The other account was one that I had already had disputed and confirmed it wasn't mine. So it shouldn't be in my account AT ALL. This company is a scam. CMRE Financial Services, Inc. collectors have been sending letter and calling for a payment so that my mother, who is blind and disabled can clear this payment on her end. I tried several ways to pay the bill, by phone, automated and the website listed on the bill (www.cmrefsi.com), leaving voicemail with the acct.#/call back number to Yvette @ ext# 151 and what I get back is, her voicemail and from all other attempts are "The payment you provided was declined Please go back to the payment and verify your payment for accuracy" if the problem persists, please Contact Us to process the payment manually. So, this must be a scam or they just want the interest to go up and the bill just keeps accumulating on the interest. Somehow or another a medical bill of mine ended up in with this company by mistake. The hospital has since sent me a letter stating the error, but I still feel the need to share my experience. I happen to have a lot of experience with dealing with credit, credit laws, and collection agencies due to my occupation. I have worked with credit repair experts in the past and currently work with an attorney from time to time to help my clients. First lesson is, never ever ever pay a collection agency. Once an account has gone to collections, even if it is paid in full, it will still show up as a paid collections account. Any collections account hurts your credit whether it has been paid or not. By paying the collections account, it will actually stay on your credit for 10 years instead of 7, so do not pay! Second lesson, learn your state's "statute of limitations". This is the period of time that a debt collector or collection agency can legally collect on a debt. In California, this period is 4 years. After 4 years, the collection agencies cannot contact you or ask you to repay the debt. Because of this law, it is always advisable to NEVER make any payments to an account that has gone to collections. Most people do not know that as soon as you make a payment to a collections agency, your 4 year statute of limitations is reset. So DO NOT PAY! Third lesson, never speak to a collections agency. Their job is to entrap you and take your money. Never admit to knowing about the debt, because if you do, the collection agency can reset your statute of limitations and try to collect from you for another 4 years. Also, in California and many other states, a collection agency cannot call you at work or during working hours. If you get a call from a collection agency, let them know you work from "6am to 8pm and you cannot take calls while you are at work." They will try to rush your off the phone before you can finish your sentence but, BE AGGRESSIVE! Once these words leave your mouth, they cannot call you anymore! Fourth, any correspondence that you do send to a collection agency needs to be in writing and sent via US Mail with a tracking number or delivery confirmation. Collection agencies lie, lie, lie... so make sure any agreements made are mailed to you in WRITING! The only time I would ever recommend sending anything to a collection agency is AFTER the statute of limitations has expired. I do recommend sending the collection agencies a letter offering to settle the debt after the statute of limitations has expired, but only if they agree to delete the account from your credit reports. YOU MUST GET THIS IN WRITING! Do not send payment unless the collections agency has agreed to DELETE the debt FROM ALL 3 MAJOR CREDIT BUREAUS. If they report the debt as PAID or SETTLED, it will still hurt your credit score. Remember, collection agencies buy your accounts from the original creditor for pennies on the dollar. If they can get so much as 25% of your original debt, they will usually gladly delete the account from your credit reports. If not, I recommend buying a credit report from all 3 bureau's. Most websites will allow you to dispute the accounts on your credit report. You can do this every 30-45 days. Trust me, the collection agency will get tired of responding to these letters, especially knowing that they cannot collect on the account. Often times, this is enough to get them so annoyed that they will just delete your account to avoid further hassle. DO NOT EVER ADMIT that the debt was yours though. I usually tell my clients to write in their letter, "I know this is not a valid debt, but to keep this from hurting my credit, I am willing to pay a percentage of the debt you feel I owe, only if you agree to delete this account from all of the major credit bureaus." I am actually drafting a letter to the FTC regarding CMRE because they violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) when one of their agents lied to me and said that they were the "original creditor" of the account in my name. Even though this debt has been settled and was in error, I feel the need to protect others. All of my phone calls are recorded for business, and I have proof that this company is operating illegally. Hopefully they will be fined for violating the law, I'm sure I am not the first person they have lied to though. This is another reason not to talk to CMRE over the phone, they are liars! People this is not a service you would have used. CMRE is a 3rd party billing administrator that had no clue what they are doing. I have now reported them to the BBB, Blue Cross, and now writing a POOR YELP REVIEW... They are horrible!! They bill for doctors and medical offices who don't want to bill in house or don't know how to. They've mis-coded my bill on more than one occasion causing a debt collection. Believe me, they are not fake, they are just really really stupid... I spent 4 hours on the phone chasing everyone down, I called the hospital, I called Blue Cross, I called my doctors office, South Valley Radiology (service provider, they suck too)...finally the only one that helped me was the supervisor. at CMRE. I realized I never came back and updated - it may be helpful for some people reading this review. I did report the matter to theCFPB - Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the matter was resolved within 48 hours - completely and fully. The Consumer Credit Bureaus are scared of this regulatory body so if you run into a road block with the CRB's themselves go straight to the CFPR and it WILL get resolved properly. read more

Received a bill from them and not 3 days later received a phone call. I verified the info, but luckily had spoken with the medical billing office already earlier in the day. Somehow my employer-based (not contracted) insurance hadn't paid for services in the network, so even though I was covered at the time, I was being billed for it. When the service rep said that this call was in an attempt to collect the debt TODAY, I pretty much just told him that as far as I was concerned, they have nothing to do with me since billing/insurance had already stated they would resubmit and process since it was clear I was covered! I am absolutely appalled by the customer service that I received from this business. In particular, HOPE was awful. She was rude and not helpful despite my kindness and manners. After multiple attempts to pay electronically, I was transferred to customer service where I reached Hope. I don't know if it was because it was 4:30 on a Friday or what, but it should not matter if I am the first or last customer of the day. Hope hung up on my call instead of being of service.
