Cucumber salmon roll - fishy smelling, tasted like old fish. Quantity 2 rolls.
    Aly M.

Old stinky fish. Not fresh. The cucumber salmon roll tasted fishy and smelt fishy, which is an absolute no for us when it comes to eating fish. This is a strong indicator that the place does not use fresh ingredients. The veggie rolls did not taste fresh either. We could not swallow the rest of the food, hence the 1 star. Quality of food is the most important. This place is way overpriced especially for old stinky fish. Service was ok, nothing special. They do not accommodate any requests. The place appears clean inside. However, given the portion size, obviously low quality food/ingredients, and inflated price, this place is a 1 star at best. So sad, we had to find something else for dinner because we couldn't swallow this food.

As a big sushi fan, I don't say this lightly, but after several return trips this place has some of the best sushi I've ever eaten. I love sushi that has good balances of sauce and quality fish and blends of flavors. The asparagus app is fantastic and the White Dragon is my favorite roll. I also love the ambiance in the actual restaurant when that opens up again. I will admit, it is more expensive than other options closer to me, but it is worth it. If I want to spend a little more and really enjoy my experience, this is where I go. Highly recommend. Ps- pics are from carry out, which is never as pretty but just as delicious!

Ebi Tempura. Below average! Way too moist and too much rice

WHY does this have 4 stars!?! I feel victimized by this bogus rating! Okay, first off, I would like to say the ambience and the staff are very nice. It's BYOB, dimly lit, and comfortably loud. But my GOD! The sushi! I love sushi and I love eating so I guess my standards are fairly high but how can a place with 1000+ reviews, 4 stars, and is not cheap be this bad?? The waiter RAVED about the off the menu signature roll: FIRECRACKER. We got so excited and it fell flat in expectation. It tasted like your average maki with spicy mayo, which is fine except it cost us $19!!!!!!!!!!!!! And because it wasn't on the menu we were shocked when we got the check Next we got another "signature" maki: Ceviche. Sounds good cuz it has scallops and shrimp...except it was mainly shrimp and had NO taste at all Then we got a plain maki, a fan fave: Ebi Tempura. They even messed this up. How!? Even the most average sushi spot can perfect this. There was SO MUCH rice and the rice was too wet Then we got 2 smoked salmon nigiri. You can guess what I thought about that. If they can't provide good Ebi Tempura, they can't provide good nigiri. It wasn't fresh. And to top it off, it took forever to get our food. Overall: do not come here unless you like sushi buffet quality sushi Sorry for the mean review but I am in shock at how terrible this was. Ruined my Friday date night

I have been a long time customer and completely understand that the pandemic has wrecked havoc on small restaurants. Unfortunately, the restaurant has significantly raised prices during the past month or two where items are almost and actually in some cases doubled. A piece of crab sushi was $4 and now costs $8. Yellowtail with scallions went from $6 to $12.50. Other basic maki rolls cost $10-12. The quality is excellent but the cost of our order tonight was crazy. I wish I would have to think this but it's definitely the last time ordering from Coast Sushi for us. They do a great job but the price increase makes it way more expensive than it should be for the same quality. It has been our go to for years but unfortunately due to the pandemic's impact on their business and pricing, I'm not sure if and when we will order from their again. I never say never but $8 for a smaller piece of crap sushi is insane.

85$ 4 rolls. 3 of the rolls only 6 pieces. Lots of crab sticks and rice. Tummies hurt all around

We have had sushi from all over and this was very disappointing. I feel like they're not even trying. I would have emailed them to let them know but there is no email address before delivery and tip $85. Hate to write a bad review but coast is not the same as it used to be. Me and two tween girls were quite hungry and had tummy aches. Really sub par. Will not order again here.

Pleasantly surprised! I got the white dragon veggie roll, or something like that. It wasn't on their menu but I saw it online the online menu. The miso soup was pretty good too. It was so dark inside, I could barely see.... as you can see in the picture

I came in a group of ~10 and had a great dinner experience. We ordered a bunch of rolls, which were served family-style on big plates. But because we were in a large group at a large table, it was slightly difficult for everyone to taste everything without having to do some arm stretches and plate passing. As for the food, it tasted quite good but nothing exceptional. The service was attentive throughout the night, and our server made some great recommendations. It's BYOB, which we definitely took advantage of. The ambience is chill enough for a friendly hangout but also dimly-lit (it was actually hard to read the menu) and classy enough for a more intimate experience.

I almost decided to save Miru for our next visit, but I'm glad I made time for breakfast here on our departure day. Located inside the St. Regis Chicago, the restaurant offers beautiful views. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional. I ordered the Tokyo Breakfast. The salmon was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with rice, a soft-poached egg, and salmon roe. The miso soup was slightly salty on its own, but it worked surprisingly well when enjoyed with the rice toward the end of the meal. Overall, a memorable breakfast experience. I'd love to return and try the lunch or dinner menu on my next trip to Chicago.

The sushi is phenomenal, as were our drinks... but the other entrees are disappointing. The karaage and duck yakisoba in particular in quality could be from any corner restaurant in Chicago. The service lends itself more casual, and I noticed they were consistently quite slow to clear our table. I don't think people come here for the food as much as the views. Overlooking Streeterville from this angle and vantage was truly jaw dropping and for this reason I still strongly recommend Miru.

My only critique is the pacing. Since the chef already had the fish sliced and prepped, I expected a smoother flow, but the meal took about an hour and a half for 14 pieces of sushi. It felt a bit slow, especially for a lunch service. That said, if you're looking for a reasonably priced omakase with quality fish, this is a solid choice.

Both were great. Our bartenders were lovely and very friendly. Found out this is a Malort tasting room and we were able to sample some different Malorts (the cocoa one was good!). Then we were taken back to our table for dinner. Our server was super friendly as well. Started with the miso soup and crispy tuna bites which were probably my favorite dishes. The taki yoki fritters weren't bad either. We saw people getting omakase, so we ordered a yummy looking piece they were receiving. It was just okay (chutoro truffle). The nigiri was also okay. The tuna piece was the only I really loved. The fish quality wasn't as high as I was expecting. The sushi was decent. A little too much truffle in the spicy blue fin tuna and a little too vegetable forward in the hamachi serrano. All in all, the atmosphere and amazing service pushed this up to a 4 for me.

The restaurant houses both an omakase counter and an izakaya, but in completely separate spaces. The omakase side is an intimate, beautifully designed counter with around 10 seats. We were the only guests that evening, so the whole experience felt wonderfully private -- just us, Chef Shoji, and the fish. Chef Shoji opens the meal by presenting the actual fish you'll be eating, all flown in twice a week from Japan or Spain. It immediately signals what kind of meal you're in for. The 20 courses were well-paced and the quality was consistent throughout. Nigiri and sashimi were pristine, but the hot dishes were equally impressive, which surprised me. Both sides of the menu showed real craft and attention to detail. Service was fantastic -- warm, attentive, and never stuffy. At $210 per person, it's a special occasion meal, but one that genuinely delivers on the price. As someone who eats a lot of omakase back home in LA, I wasn't sure what to expect.
