The moment I walked in, the first thing I thought was it smelled nice and fresh. Adam provided great quick and welcoming service. He told us with the new changes to the menu and got our order in quickly without feeling rushed. There wasn't a lot if any of hot plates on the menu, so if you're not a raw fish person maybe try another spot. The sushi was solid, for the price. It's not the top top tier but a great spot to meet and catch up with my friend or stop after shopping etc. I only knocked it down a star because of the limited menu related to their hot plates.

I got the spicy salmon roll, dinosaur roll, unagi q, and mini Godzilla roll. Honestly for $4.49/set of 4-6 pieces this is a great deal in wicker if you're looking to satisfy a sushi craving. The order takes about 20 mins to come out so would order ahead for carry out. They also have plenty of seating inside as well.

While I wouldn't say this place is one of the best sushi places in terms of quality, I love the fact that you can get multiple "mini-sized" portions. It makes it a lot more fun to come here alone, and I'm able to order 4 different things and it be until 20 bucks. If I had a larger party, I'd probably pick a different spot; however, for one or two people this is a fast, no-frills spot where you can enjoy different flavors without leftovers!

Good service and decent rolls for everyday meal. We liked the portion of ramen which was great for kids.

Great value and bites!! Good quality sushi and great service. Spicy miso soup was a great addition to the menu!

Great service and affordable sushi. We got a bunch of items off the $4.95 menu and spent around $30 for two people. Seems like takeout was also popular here.

Solid sushi and reasonably priced. Stumbled on Gorilla while in the area. Ordered the shrimp tempura rolls and tempura appetizer. Pretty good. I enjoyed the roll. Sushi was fresh and tasty and was $8.95 which for the area is a deal. I see why while I was sitting in eating their delivery pick up was super busy with people constantly coming in to pick up orders. The location is small so not good for big parties. They play good music for a sushi bar. They have chopsticks in a jar readily at all tables which is different. Normally when you're at sushi restaurants they give you throw away chop sticks and hopefully they do the same with these and they're not reusing them. Service was Ok. Once I received my food, no one came back to check on me to see if I needed anything else before finishing so I deducted a star for this. I would come back for the sushi though.

This was my first time ordering edamame from here and I'm shocked at how little I got for the $6 I paid for it. The picture doesn't doesn't do it justice. Very very tiny portion for the price and I had to season it myself because there was barely any salt on it.

This was a great sushi place in Wicker Park--the sushi was very affordably priced, and everything tasted fresh. We were the last party that was seated for the night. The staff was very accommodating and had us order before our table was ready, as we were waiting. The soy sauce came in little prepackaged plastic containers to the table. The pieces of sushi were not huge, but for $2.50 a plate, who is really complaining?

Good sushi, not amazing, but reasonably priced, service is pretty good. Check in Yelp get you a free miso soup too. No brainer. We come here maybe once a month and it's consistent. Is it blow you away high end sushi, no. But the prices reflect that. Keep up the good work gorilla!

I highly recommend coming to Gorilla sushi as all the rolls are good and a lot are $3.95 each! That's a really good deal for half rolls. I could easily eat a bunch of rolls which I think I ate a lot and could still eat more. They do take out and dine in. If you're craving sushi but don't want to break your wallet, I highly recommend coming here. I got the golden California rolls, mini Godzilla roll, red dragon roll, and dinosaur roll. They were each $3.95 and they were delicious! This is a cheap and good sushi place that I recommend coming and checking it out!

The hostess said we could still be seated but another reservation was coming an hour later. I had never had okonomiyaki before, but I got to try three different kinds plus some yakisoba. We ordered four dishes and shared them among the four of us. We got the pork belly yakisoba, pork osaka style okonomiyaki, shrimp osaka style okonomiyaki, and the mushroom and yuba Hiroshima style okonomiyaki. My favorite dishes were probably the pork ones, but I really liked trying all of them! When our waiter asked if we wanted dessert, we said how the hostess told us we would need to leave by a certain time for the next reservation. However, he said we could order dessert anyway. I thought it was weird the hostess was being so finicky about the time, since usually 15 min late is within reason. We did get the red panda. It's mostly ice and a little ice cream, but it was very good and so cute! I would definitely come here again! It is a bit loud if you have anyone in your party who has trouble hearing. You are also quite close to other people in the restaurant.

I chose the Deviled Eggs, Tuna Truffle nigiri, Hamachi nigiri, Sake nigiri, Crispy Maguro roll, and mochi (we tried all the flavors - espresso, salted caramel, passion fruit, and strawberry). Every bite was amazing - but beware, the Crispy Maguro definitely packs on the heat. I also recommend the Snow Maiden sake if you like a sweeter sake. Service was solid, and our waiter gave thoughtful recommendations that helped us decide what to order. We ordered the sashimi sampler and the ninniku crudo to start. My husband got 6 handrolls and I had 4. We both had the otoro handroll for the premium temaki options. The handrolls came out at a really good pace, which we appreciated since it let us enjoy each one fresh. The fish itself was definitely fresh and everything was well prepared. My favorite handroll was the spicy hotate. The otoro temaki was good, but we have had better otoro elsewhere. My husband also got the sake temaki and mentioned that the salmon was a bit chewy. Overall, nothing really stood out as particularly memorable. Our bill ended up being close to $200, and while the food was good, it was not quite mind blowing for that price point. Hamachi Carpaccio?: 8/10 not much to say here. simple yet refreshing and satisfying Hew Dup Bap Kaisendon: 8/10 A great way to sample various sashimi options. Everything was fresh, and the cuts were generously thick. Ankimo Appetizer: 9/10 Probably the most unique take on ankimo I've ever had. It looked like a work of art, and the (potato?) chips added a fun texture. Super flavourful and memorable. Temaki: 8.5/10 I don't remember the exact ones I ordered, but they were all really good. I loved the creative toppings, something I rarely see at other temaki spots, and they paired with the fish beautifully.
