When the "24-hr service" towing company (provided by my car's warranty) sent out an incompetent guy who brought the wrong equipment (despite me giving exact details on where the car was and what was wrong), my car ended up blocking a driveway. I called Coast Towing at 6am on Sunday morning and in a couple of hours, they sent out a very competent guy who brought the right equipment and had the car out of the driveway and on their truck in a few minutes. They delivered it to the dealer the following day. It was very nice speaking to the local people at Coast who know the geography of the area and are here so they know the current weather. Coast understood the seriousness of my situation and responded appropriately unlike that other company who kept telling me they "couldn't find anyone to come here" and it would be "a few days." That other company clearly didn't know anything about Oregon because they kept referring to Portland (Im in Newport). Interesting reading the reviews on here - hey, towing is expensive. read more

I had just driven back to Newport from Sandy in a used (new to me) Pleasure-Way RV and was stranded in Fred Meyer's gas station on a Saturday night in the rain because it wouldn't start. My insurance company called the tow company in South Beach which refused to help me because they were told I had a motor home. (It's actually a small Class B RV.) So they notified Coast Towing. Rick (the owner of Coast Towing) assured me that he'd have me picked up, store the van until garages opened up on Monday, AND have my 2 small dogs, all our stuff, and me driven to our home in Waldport. Mike showed up, loaded the van onto their flatbed tow truck, drove to their warehouse, pulled two trucks out to make room for my van inside, helped me transfer all our stuff to the flat bed, & drove us to Waldport. Because the flatbed was too long to navigate my driveway, Mike, once again, helped me schlep all my stuff up the driveway and into my house. (The entire time, Mike was friendly, accommodating, and energetic...Very energetic!) A couple of days later, Mike came back to my house to pick up a spare key (because we thought that might be the cause of the not starting issue) and delivered it to the garage that now had my van. My hero! Truthfully, I was in a tricky situation because (1) it was Saturday night, (2) I couldn't leave the van at FM gas station until Monday, (3)had no way home, (4) had no idea which garage would be able to take the van on Monday, & (5) was unwilling to leave it just anywhere unattended. I was stuck in Newport after my rental from Portland stopped working. We were having an ice storm and they couldn't get the tow to Portland for several days. I was basically out in the cold freezing rain until coast towing got involved. Mike and Rick from coast towing were excellent. Rick talked to the rental company and tried to convince them to get me a hotel room which he then paid for hoping they would reimburse him. And not just for one night but for two nights! I am so grateful that these guys went above and beyond and I owe them a debt of gratitude and a five star review ! read more

Our 2022 New Motorhome was damaged when Agreo Ford's roadside assistance they call Coast towing, Mike the driver and his girl pal, showed up at 8:30pm for a 2 pm tow, small tow truck I questioned Mike, he and owner said the lowboy was in Seattle. Mike had no tools on tow truck, had to drop the tow because he did not have socket set to remove drive shaft. returned next day and Coast Towing drug my 2022 35ft Motorhome, a foot off the ground from Florence to Portland. we believe Motorhome is total loss, Agreo is responsible for new motorhome. turned out to be spark plug wire. This outfit deserves NO stars. My SUV was wrecked TWICE: Once when it ended up on its side at 2am on the shoulder of Hwy 20; AGAIN when Coast Tow showed up & dragged it 50 ft down the road and into the oncoming lane, STILL ON ITS SIDE! Then, the guy finally pulls it onto the wheelbase -- so that now the drivers' side is leaning down off the Opposite soft shoulder (at the base of which is a river!) -- making it STILL unsafe to enter the SUV! OR Dept of Transpo guy & State Police dumbfounded; cop finally told Coast to leave & called another Tow outfit. My advice: NEVER call Coast! read more

Working with this company after my brothers car accident was worse than anything else we went through. Since it was an emergency call from the police to pull the car from a ravine we didn't have any say in who came for the car. The first negative was finding out he won't take AAA so we had to pay cash to get the car back. The total charge came to $670 and $45 of it was a charge for allowing us to access the car to look for my brothers insulin...something he couldn't go TWO days without since this happened on a Saturday and we were told we couldn't do anything until he opens on Monday. The owner will tell you one thing over the phone and then tell you something completely different when you are in front of him and then of course say YOU are the one who must have misunderstood. We literally live two streets over from this company and he told us that he would "cut a good deal" and tow the car home for $60. We went on Monday morning to pay the bill and retrieve the car and suddenly the price went up by almost $200! I refused to pay anything other than what his original paperwork showed (though I still dispute the charge for looking for the insulin case) and gave him our card to pay. He wrote down ALL of the info for our card including the #, date and security code and disappeared for 5 minutes saying he was going to call the card in for his money. He then came back and said "since you are unhappy I want cash". I told him we would go for cash once we verify with the bank that he hadn't tried to charge the card and had him give me the paperwork with the info back. Why would you be gone with my info for more than 5 minutes and then say you never ran the card and want cash? Seemed very fishy to me. We ended up using AAA to contract another local company who I will write an EXTREMELY positive review about to come and take the car from him and back to our home. When you are dealing with people who have been in an accident or suffered a negative event then you shouldn't go out of your way to say negative things to them such as telling my brother "the car is a piece of junk to start with it's not even worth what you are paying me" and "the accident was probably your fault because of your tires". If it were his fault then the trooper that was on the scene and in the hospital with us would've given him a ticket and in fact said that according to all witnesses that stayed to help the accident was completely out of his control given the unexpected hail and slick puddles that had formed on the highway and maybe it looked like junk to you but he put his heart and soul into that car building it from no engine to what it was before the accident and it meant a great deal to him. Either way he was completely unprofessional from the start to the end. I have talked to several people in town and none were surprised to hear the negative and said he has a reputation around town for being rude and heartless. I get you have a business to run and I had no problem paying the money you were owed but you went out of your way to make things hard for us and to cause my brother even more emotional pain than he had to begin with. The company that ended up bringing the car home was not only professional but the driver was very friendly, positive and caring which is what I would expect from any company. I don't think I can mention the good company by name but they are located in South Beach OR and shouldn't be hard to find. Go with them if you want to be treated professionally from start to end. read more
