I'm one of those guys that pretty much uses my knives for opening envelopes and cutting apples exclusively, but I really appreciate the beauty and engineering of a fine knife. I also appreciate knowing that I'll eventually pass my knives along to my sons, and they'll be able to use them for a lifetime too. For envelopes and apples of course (smile). I had a great time in CC chatting with the owner and checking out several different knives I hadn't previously seen or held. A couple were added to my mental "wish list" (see Zero Tolerance ) for sure. If you're into high quality gear, or know someone that is- you can't go wrong picking something out at Corvallis Cutlery. A great selection of fine items at a variety of price points. (I found them to be very competitive with online pricing.)

Sportsman's advertises a price match guarantee, however the guarantee is that they don't price…read morematch. I was told by their customer service if I find a cheaper price online they would match it. I did find the items much cheaper online and when I sent sportsman's the proof, they would not beat the prices and changed their story yet another time. I would also like to add the sportsman's credit card charges 33% interest and they charge $3.50 per month if you choose not to go paperless. Sportsman's charges higher prices if you order through them online. Their in store prices are cheaper, so when sportsman's offers you a discount ( online only) your not getting a discount. They raise the prices online then offer consumers who open a card a discount. I've gone into the sportsman's store in Bend Oregon looked at a safe with a sign saying on sale with the original price of .99 cents higher than the sale price. Honestly just stay away from sportsman's and save money.

So took them to gear traders to put them on consignment. Easy to do, minimal paperwork, and great staff to work with! Alex was wonderful! They rotate their gear for sale regularly, and if you have extra outdoor gear you're not using, you can get them to sell it it for you (for a price.) I regularly pop into here to see what is new. I am stoked we have a place like this in Eugene. I bought all my snowboarding gear here for less than $200, which was cheaper than a single jacket at REI. I got Burton, Marmot, and Smith gear, and it kept me warm all winter!

He helped me find the right shoes and even though he was quite busy with other customers, he still manage to find what people are looking for and was so kind!! The cashier lady in the other hand.... Abigail wasn't so nice. She asked if I was a member for REI, and I said no since of course it's my first time. She then went on to explain the benefits and I kindly declined. Although the membership is such a steal, I had to pay $30 on top of what I'm buying and at the moment right now I'm low on money, I get paid till next week and was only here to buy shoes for tomorrow's hike with my leftover money that I had!! When I kindly declined she continues to tell me again about the benefits. When I declined again her whole face dropped and bluntly said "okay" and ringed me out. Her whole demeanor changed and I honestly did not like that. I worked as a cashier and I know the struggles of trying to have people sign up for certain things, but it never leads me to being rude against them or changing my demeanor. I know for sure next time I'll sign up but at the moment I literally can't.

I arrived with a small animal cage that did not suit the needs of the parrot it housed. Michele showed me what the store had in stock, unfortunately none meet the needs of our situation. She suggested if I did not find anything outside the store to return to see if there was something that Costal could do to the cage I did have. I returned the next day and within 10 minutes there was a plan of action. Within 30 minutes everything was completed, and I was happily walking out the door. These folks are WONDERFUL problem solvers.
