I feel that Michele (Animal Health Lead), Tom (Shop Manger) Dave (Hardlines Lead, Tools Guy) are major assets for the Costal store in Albany Oregon. I arrived with a small animal cage that did not suit the needs of the parrot it housed. Michele showed me what the store had in stock, unfortunately none meet the needs of our situation. She suggested if I did not find anything outside the store to return to see if there was something that Costal could do to the cage I did have. I returned the next day and within 10 minutes there was a plan of action. Within 30 minutes everything was completed, and I was happily walking out the door. These folks are WONDERFUL problem solvers. read more

I came in when the sporting goods guy was at lunch and the manager had to come help me with a gun purchase she did a fanatic job she was friendly and when the normal worker returned she didn't just bail they both helped get me and another man through the process quickly and easily. thank you is hard to find this these days I appreciate it and will do business here in the future especially for firearm purchases! read more

The employees need to get off the asses and do some work. Especially the one with the tone you know who you are. I've seen more productive workers at the Dairy Queen in Albany than this place and we all know how long it takes to get an ice cream cone from there. Mainly lose the tone. read more

Some time ago I have received poor service too. I showed up prepared to make a three-four figure purchase of metal fencing, and the checkout clerk told me to go to the special-order desk and she would call someone to meet me there. Noone came. I sense every visit that if I looked like a rancher I'd get better service. I hate to ding this retailer because their inventory is very extensive. They used to carry more boot lines made in America but do no longer. This is not entirely Coastal's fault! I realize what the global economy is doing to retailing and American manufacturing, but I don't have to like it. read more

Worst customer service ever! Walked in all cashiers looked but no acknowledgement or welcome in. Couldn't find what I needed asked for help got sent to a different person and they were still very unhelpful asked if what I needed was an emergency cause they would have to go search for items they have in stock but don't know where is.. giving up and checking out with whatever I could find cashier was very rude.. didn't say a word to me while ringing me up and when it came to handing me my change they dropped it over my hand like they were afraid to touch me.. never been so disappointed or disrespected! I love the store selection itself, but the customer service was terrible when I last went in. An associate hovered and insisted that what I was looking for was in a different location in the store, not once but twice, and when she couldn't locate the items and I explained that was because the items were supposed to be in the spot I'd been looking, she responded with "well then obviously I don't have them". When I brought this up to a manager, the response was "huh", even while I could hear another very polite associate trying to reason with the rude associate only to be disrespected as well. it wasn't a good experience - to the point where I now prefer to shop elsewhere. read more

Want to give a shout out to Albany, Coastal Farm and Ranch and especially the Manager, Josh. (hope I got his name right). Bought a Stihl cordless lawn mower for a house warming gift to my Grandkids. Long story short, when I got home and put it together, there was no battery or charger, and the side of the box said there was. I returned to Coastal and talked with the Manager and found out I had been given a more expensive mower set than I had paid for that should have had a battery and charger, the mower I paid for did not come with battery and charger. When I realized what had happened, I was going to return the mower because I had not paid for the one I got and Josh, the Manager asked me to give him a few minutes, and returned with not only a battery and charger, but also a spare battery because of the mix up and having to come back. He quoted "Customer Service." This is exactly the reason I shop and Coastal Farm and Ranch in Albany, CUSTOMER SERVICE, reliable products and friendly associates. Excellent customer service and friendly staff. I have literally walked in at 15 minutes before closing and got a trailer load of fence supplies with no hassle. They usually have what I need and more. I shop here frequently and it's one of my go to places for ranch supplies, and general goods. I have even bought furniture in the past. I go here for my pet food and treats, I have bought vaccines here, I take my kids here when they have baby bunnies and chicks. One of our favorite stores, we end up looking around we see one and almost always impulse buy something there. This time we came to exchange some Romeo's I was given as a gift and it was an easy and painless process even though we had no receipt. The cashier was pretty awesome and upbeat. We purchased a cast iron gas stove from Coastal and they said Mid-Valley Chimney Sweep as "Gold" for installation and customer service. Our experience with this company began really well. Dan came out to my mother's and gave us an estimate of $425 labor and 4 - 5 hours to complete the installation of a new gas stove/heater and removal of the old one. We bought a gas heating stove from Coastal who recommended this company. The workmen seemed to know what they were doing but initially didn't show up with parts necessary to complete the job. The parts were delivered but then there was a piping mishap and new had to be found and bought. After almost six hours they completed the job. The next morning there was no hot water. They had turned off the gas and failed to relight the pilot on the water heater. At my 90 year old mother's house. When called to resolve the pilot light, we left a message. After three hours we called again. By this time we had resolved the pilot light ourselves so our 90 year old mother would not go all day without hot water. We discussed the pilot light issue when called a second time, they were not willing to give us any reimbursement for our time to resolve the mistake that was made. On top of this, Dan called my 90 year old mother falsely accusing my husband of using profanity during the discussion about the pilot light. Based on our overall experience with this company, we will not be recommending their services to anyone and caution Coastal recommending them as well. read more

Excellent store but hard to find some things...after walking around for about 15 mins looking for a sales associate and about to leave out of frustration, Shay was walking back from the bathroom obviously in a hurry stopped to help us. I used to love shopping at Coastal, their selection was good and prices were comparable along with having staff that were friendly and helpful and knew what they were talking about. That changed over the past two years and things have gotten progressively worse. The staff are not friendly, most of them avoid talking to customers and the ones that do finally "make eye contact" have no idea what they are talking about, even if they work in a certain department. I went in to find a stud chain for a horse and the person in the horse department didn't even know what a stud chain was, let alone where to find them. This is super frustrating as a customer and also as a horse owner because a farm store should employ people who can help sell the product(s) they carry. Telling a customer, " I don't know what that is or if we carry that" isn't a good answer when you work around that product all day. Additionally, prices have significantly increased at Coastal. A friend I have to used to work there said that the staff who price their inventory kept gradually increasing the market values thinking that no one would notice, well let me tell you, people notice! Paying customers noticed! I should be able to buy a pair of jeans as a woman for less than $100! Additionally, shorts sold in the winter months on the clearance rack shouldn't be priced over $50 either. When did a local farm store who used to carry and sell irregular jeans and grow a market in our town become so focused on screwing over their customers? Finally, the staff that work in the loading area are never present when you pull around. Many times I have loaded my own grain and either left or did not leave the slip for them. As a woman I shouldn't be climbing for bags of feed or loading these into my car. I understand that they took most of these things out of the store and put them in the back to make room for other inventory but if you're going to do that then make sure customers are not climbing like monkeys to get the own products and not breaking their backs loading them into their own vehicles. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

I've been a customer for a couple years now and have been recently running into issues with them. Their sale signs are either misleading or completely inaccurate. They advertised with Linn County fair "cheap ride wristbands and admission", however failed to mention that it was a very limited amount. What a waste of time!! It actually cost me more because now im out gas money and an hour of my life! It's just like their sales when they jack up their prices the day of. Drove 45min from Eugene to pick up a grill because Eugene store was out and they said they had 3 of them in stock according to their system. Got up there right when they opened the next day, went in and paid for the grill. Had to pry out of the cashier where I needed to go to physically pick u the grill. Was instructed to drive around back where a forklift operator was unable to find the grill. He came out a few minutes later and said we're out. When I expressed I had driven 45min to pick up a grill they have showing as in stock he didn't have much of a response other than they should be getting some more. I understand mistakes can happen and computers can be wrong, but me paying for a grill you don't even have shouldn't happen and some sort of concern for the situation should have been expressed. Absolutely no effort was put in to try and remedy the situation. If I wasn't in a hurry with it being Father's Day and all I would have asked to speak to a manager. Luckily my store in Eugene has always been pretty good and when I told them what happened they told me exactly what day they would have them in stock and that one would be tagged for me as well as a phone call to let me know it was ready to pick up. A little bit of effort goes a long ways and is appreciated by most. read more

I've been a customer for 15 years and the service has always been average. Customer service and promptness has taken a nose dive the past couple of years. I am appalled at the lack of general people skills the employees have now and the wait time to pick up feed out of the warehouse is so long I waist my entrie lunch break waiting for someone to get it to me( 2 bags of grain!) If it's not in the store for me to haul to my truck now myself i just pass. Today I honestly thought that maybe the girl checking me out thought it wasn't in her job description as she looked at me as if I had kicked a puppy and seemed to be in pain to say anything at all. I really enjoy coastal farms! I always get excited about going into their store because it has a great since of welcoming! Sometime however, I feel like they have great sales and other times I feel like they are costly. They have really great costumer service and most of their employees seem out going and eager to help costumers if they have any questions. I really trust their advise when it comes down to feed and equipment for my horse. I suggest that anybody with questions about horses are the correct feed should head to coastal. Coastal farm is one of my favorite places to go clothes shopping. Carhartt is one of my favorite brands and coastal has carhartt everything. The entire left section as you walk in the store is 90% carhartt. This is also where i buy my shoes and boots. I wear the Gorgia Romeos. This store has everything and anything for the outdoorsman including ammunition, truck accesories, fencing material, dog food, stove pellets, etc. they even sell chicks around this time of year. My favorite part about this store is the smell. If i could describe the smell i would but i cant. The smell reminds me of being outdoors in the woods. i love it. They are currently in the process of remodeling so its kind of hectic but the changes are good. The inside of the store is looking very nice and I always look forward to going here and just browsing. read more

I've shopped at Coastal for years and never had an issue but wow, not the case the other day. I had great service from the fella in the chain saws but when I tried to buy some mushroom compost yikes! For one, there wasn't a person to be found anywhere near the garden section. So when I asked the cashier how much and where do I get it she had to look it up. She then told me I had to drive around to the breezeway to pick it up (which was fine) but then when I was walking out the door she yelled out different directions and said I was to drive over to the other side of the building (no specifics as to where) and someone would meet me to load it over there. Well no one was there and again, I couldn't find anyone in the garden section to help me locate them. I had kids waiting in the car so I couldn't go back inside so eventually I just found a bag that looked like what I had paid for and loaded it myself and left. Plus I paid $5.50 and the tag on a pile outside said $3 something. NOT happy. Waste of my time and perhaps a couple bucks. read more
