    Cod and chips

The most beautiful words you might ever hear 'Do you want a sample of the chowder?' Unless you have an allergy, the answer is yes! It's so good. The cod is flaky and delicious. The fries were good, but a bit generic. I'd try the sidewinders or tots next time. Now if you'll excuse me, I need another cup of chowder.

Coastal Vibes was amazing. My husband and I really wanted some fish and chips while visiting Portland, and found this place. It's located at Food Cart Pod, along with other food trucks. We were able to order right away. The owner was friendly and answered all of our questions. We ordered the fish and chips and the seafood chowder. It was a small wait, but the owner brought our food to us. We were sitting at a table and purchased some lemonade from another food truck. Since it was a little chilly, we ate in the car. The food was piping hot, yet soooo delicious. It had a ton of flavor. The seafood chowder was the perfect consistency with chunks of clams and shrimp. We hate that this place is all the way in Oregon because we would definitely be frequent customers. If you're looking for some great seafood in the area, definitely check this place out!

I ordered the three piece rockfish basket for $18. It was about a 10 minute wait so the fish was fresh and hot. The batter wasn't too thick. It was crispy and flavorful with and without tartar sauce. The coleslaw was a bit tangy but a refreshing balance to the tator tots (choice of tots or fries). I would be back to try other menu items and hope they offer shrimp plates in the future.

Located near a bunch of other food carts, just on the side of a building, it's hard to tell this place is there but once you notice it you have to try it! I came by on a Wednesday evening with pretty much no one else around so service of course was quick. Both the server and the chef were great making sure I had what I needed and knew all about their offerings! They were not kidding about the fish and chips with the hot honey sauce being amazing! I would definitely recommend trying that out! As for the option for sides, they had fries, tots and, sidewinder fries. I ended up with normal fries and they were seasoned perfectly! I haven't had fries this well seasoned from a food truck ever! Would highly recommend anyone looking for fish and chips to come here, they also had a seafood chowder which was also great, had all kinds of great seafood in it! I'll definitely need to return when they have their calamari in stock, I'm sure it's as good as the rest of their food!

Regular fries - well seasoned and were delicious.

Food: 4.5/5 -Rockfish was like eating Halibut. -Fries was nicely seasoned. Customer Service: 5/5 -Genuine service. We're willing to give us a water for free when I told them I forgot my wallet and would be back. I came back to pay for the water because these are the services I would love to see everywhere.

One of the best seafood food truck in Oregon! Perfectly breaded and the quality of the fish is so fresh and tasty and the sidewinder fries is so crispy and perfectly seasoned. The calm chowder is really good! I got the cod fish and chips basket and clam chowder cup. Very friendly people and prices are really good for the quality of food you get. I definitely recommend this food truck and I will definitely be back!

Friendly people and the cod was good. Took about 10 minutes on a busy night. There was a live band playing in front.

The Frying Scotsman offered various fish options. I have only ordered the Large Battered Cod Fish and Chips (5 stars) because I prefer the classic choice. The quality and quantity were impressive. The large portion was big and shareable. The first time I got it I really thought I got an extra one by mistake. I reheat my leftovers in the oven. I prefer my fish and chips with malt vinegar, but this one doesn't need it. It was seasoned well enough that it was good as is. The delicately crisp batter had just the right thickness that complemented the fish. I prefer skinnier fries, but I liked these thicker and wider cut chips that were like potato wedges. It can sometimes feel greasy, but I'm definitely not counting calories when I indulge in this meal. It appeared to be a one person operation unlike the other food carts. It's been that same nice guy multitasking different orders. It's made to order so there is a brief wait before getting the hot off the fryer fish and chips. This food cart with 4 star service is one of my favorites.

That is the only downside to this place. They have some colorful paint on the wall that was nice. When you come in, you order your food and then go sit down and they will bring it to you. We ended up ordering their 8 piece cod because it's cheaper than ordering 2 four pieces. She was nice enough to separate it for us without us asking. The food came out quick and it was not overly greasy. The cod had a nice batter and had a fresh clean taste. It was still moist and flaky. They were great sized also. As for the fries they came out hot and crisp. Some of the best fries I've had in a long time. The coleslaw was lacking flavor and depth but not a big deal. We got 3 sauces: tartar sauce was very good! The garlic aïoli had great flavor and wasn't overpowering. The ginger lime was very mild and wasn't a good choice in my opinion. They all seemed to be homemade and there were so many choices.

The coating even held up perfectly to the steelhead I ordered, which, as you know if you love steelhead like I do, is a very fatty/oily delicate fish. I've tried making beer batter with steelhead before and it both breaks apart too easily and also, the oil and fat of the fish make the coating get soggy very fast. Not here! The steelhead was super fresh and tasty. But wait, there's more, much, much more...! When I say that I mean the portions. Holy fabulous fish fry fantasy, Batman! These are BIG chunks of fish, each about the size of half a fillet! See the picture! I ended up giving 1 away to some people near me (who LOVED it) because there was no way I could eat all this!
