2014 Mercedes-Benz E350 had a coolant leak could not see where it was coming from. Turns out it was a heater pipe behind the engine Engine block . Stu and his team are TOP NOTCH. I bought a private party sale G55 and flew down from SF Bay to pick up the car to drive home. The car was in great shape but the sunroof wouldn't close and Stu was able to manually close it "on the house". After that I asked him to do a once over on the car. What a relief!! Stu and his techs exceed the standard. Better yet, Stu, makes it happen when others fail. If you have a Mercedes or probably anything else with four wheels, leave it at Coastline. What's my experience at Coastline you ask - ill keep it as brief as possible. I was minutes from kneeling to the Mercedes dealership gods after an independent mechanic In OC tapped out on my repair. I had a G-Wagon that suffered some water damage affecting the electronics. Specially, the engine computer and SAM module were toast $$$! The ECU was sourced from Germany and programmed locally as required $$$! As mentioned, my first mistake (previous shop) couldnt find a replacement SAM module and decided theyve had enough of my truck. Somehow, someway I sourced a SAM module on my own an out of state MBZ dealer. Ready to go i hope. Because my previous shop quit on me, and as I said, minutes before giving up my financial stability to the dealership, I was next door to Coastline and happened to notice another G-Wagon on their lot and several other MBZ. The Bosch logos also caught my attention. It was worth a shot to talk to these guys which is why I'm writing this review. Stu was friendly and knowledgeable as I explained my desperation. He assured me he wouldnt do what my previous shop did; he seemed genuine. My truck got dropped off with a fair, upfront estimate to install my incoming SAM module and straighten out any signs of corrosion before firing up my truck. Remember, the other shop (german repair specialist yeah right) never finished the repair and gave up. About a week later and a few surprising updates from Stu, i got the news Ive been so desperate for - my truck is alive!! He stayed true to his estimate with a required repair (new starter) plus offered/ recommended some obvious additional repairs. No doubt his recommendations were warranted but not at all pushy or salesy you know. He even advised some pro tips if i chose to do the repairs myself. Stu is a good, honest and super talented mechanic. Not you're ordinary brake job/ over charge for a light bulb type of guy. Stu told me to drive my truck for awhile and fall in love with it and get the additional repairs done soon. As an owner of a '98 Mercedes just shy of its 260,000th mile, I'm incredibly fortunate to have found Stu and Coastline Imports. The hype is real on this Yelp page, y'all. Stu is knowledgeable, honest, super nice, and affordable. I described my most recent problem and he knew what the issue was without even looking at it, and the work was done the next day with some added care that I didn't even know my car needed. Stu also took the time to explain what went wrong and show me the faulty parts, helping me with my own car knowledge and proving his honesty. This was my third time at Coastline in a year and a half or so, and I won't let anyone else so much as look under the hood of my old gal. Maybe I shouldn't mention that he even gave me a ride to the Hertz to get my rental car in case people expect that level of service, but he did, and that was rad, YMMV. Edits: Stu also knew I was on a budget and did everything to get me back on the road within my means. Stu is the man! I recently purchased a used 2002 Mercedes CL500 knowing that it needed a pro to look it over and give me some advice. I got lucky when I found Stu and Coastline. My ABC warning light came on within a month of having the vehicle. I have read nightmare stories about ABC suspension issues with this model and the astronomical costs involved to fix. Stu assured me that he would go through the vehicle and give me an honest evaluation. I was pleased to know that the ABC issue was not as bad as I had feared. I finally found a trustworthy luxury repair shop. I found Coastline Imports through google search. I called the shop and spoke to Steward ( the owner ) after my CLS550 got hit by a steel bar or some kinda pipe fell off the truck and damaged my radiator condenser. I had the vehicle towed to Coastline Imports. Everything was taken care through my insurance company ( highly recommend Allstate ) . Steward did a great job, he kept me posted during the repairs. My daughter's VW Jetta has had a whole host of issues. Most recently, a VW DEALER in LA charged me $2k for a repair and wanted $2k more for a new ECU, which I did not approve. After a couple weeks, the car was running poorly and throwing MIL codes. My daughter is away at college in LA; we live in San Diego and have family in OC. She stopped at Stu's shop on the way north. Stu was... AMAZING!... He pulled the codes, and also advised that the problems are covered under manufacturer's emissions warranty (the car has 102,000 miles on it). Stu gave us great advice how to approach the dealer. We went to a different VW dealer in San Diego. The VW dealer agreed with everything Stu said! They fixed it all. They even said that the work I paid $2k for in LA should have been free under warranty. Stu charged NOTHING for reading the codes! Stu and Coastline may not have made money on this repair. How do I start with this place? Ill just get to the point. They put the WRONG Mercedes automatic transmission fluid in my car! Let me give u a history on Mercedes. Transmissions are the first to go if it is NOT maintained well! You see, I have the 722.6 transmission which calls for a fluid that meets Mercedes Part Number 001-989-21-03-10 or Mercedes Part Number 001-989-68-03-10 which is the new fluid to cover 1997-2010 Mercedes vehicles. Neither of which was put in!!!! Trust me i know. Not only was the wrong fluid put in but he didnt even drain the fluid in the torque converter. He only drained what was in the pan!!!!!!!! What does this mean? All the fluid wasnt completely replaced! Thank goodness I only put less than 2000 miles on the car with this wrong fluid. For the past 6 months since Alex Mikhniouk aka doctormercedes.com (name of mechanic) replaced my transmission fluid...my car has behaved unbelievably poorly when shifting. It lurched from 1st to 2nd poorly especially in the morning. And all other speeds it just didnt have the same crispness/precision when shifting. Trust me i know. I know my car's behavior. I know you are thinking that I have a transmission problem but my car has only 56k miles on it!!! I hate putting down a business but if it is justified....im sorry but i have to say something to help out the next person. If a Mercedes repair shop doesnt know the specific transmission fluid to use for your car...do u really trust this shop to perform more complex services? This wasnt even a transmission overhaul. It was a simple friggin drain and fill. Go to Import Auto Works in Pasadena and see Jerry. Im glad I did. Tons of positive reviews on yelp and other websites I really hope this helps anyone out there who is a Mercedes owner and hates to get service from the dealer. read more

I've been taking my wife's old Mercedes wagon to Coastline for years, and it just hit 275k miles. If that isn't a testament to the quality of the service here, I don't know what is. Oil changes and the like are much more reasonable than at the dealer, and these guys actually specialize in German autos so I feel better going here then to a Jiffy Lube or something. What else can I say? I never feel ripped off, they've told me a couple of times that I SHOULD fix something or other but that I don't HAVE to, which I take as a sign of honesty. read more

These guys (Greg, since he's the one who worked on my car), from my experience, are level-headed, reasonable, no BS and they don't "suggest" unneeded work, like the dealers do. Actually, dealers outright lied to me (MB Anaheim) that I needed new motor mounts and I had a "leak" Long story short...I had my mechanic in Chino and Coastline check them out and they are totally fine, which I suspected and no leaks) Anyhow, Greg did the following, and did a great job: - Tranny service (partial flush, which is what the dealers do) In fact, I'd recommend avoiding full flush at certain milages) - Coolant flush/refill - Brake fluid flush/refill - Fuel Filter replace They were so reasonable with cost I will need to go back. Stu has easily become my absolute go-to for any Mercedes problems I encounter with my old 300D. He goes out of his way to take care of your car and treats you like family. He makes sure to take care of his customers concerns and breaks down each diagnosis. I took my 1977 300D to him after my car starting having issues shifting into reverse! I took it to another mechanic before him and he popped my hood, pulled a flash light out to my engine, and began quoting me $3,000 for a new transmission.....my car sat in the driveway for weeks as i felt defeated being as this was my first car and i had just bought it not too long ago. In my last attempt to fix my car i found Coastline Imports on yelp and was so impressed by their reviews that i called up the shop and was greeted by Marcy who told me to bring my car over for a diagnosis. About a week after being in the shop Stu not only fixed my reverse issue but fixed my break pedal situation and took care of other miscellaneous work I needed. He quoted me $800 for everything and kept to his word. My car was running so smoothly after i picked her up, and i was so relieved that it wasn't a transmission issue. I recently took my car back to Stu after another shop rendered my car unable to turn off! I took my car in for an oil change and they disconnected my vacuum line and weren't taking responsibility for it saying that my Vacuum Pump stopped working and were quoting me $600 to fix an issue they caused. Luckily, i already knew who to call and rang up Stu. I dropped my car off at Coastline and in less than an hour Stu diagnosed the issue as a disconnected vacuum line and didn't charge me a dime. My car was back to normal once again and could turn off without a problem!!!
