Before making an appointment, I actually called a couple of times with basic questions and concerns about getting my Brussels Griffon groomed. James, the owner, went above and beyond what I expected and was extremely knowledgeable. They also managed to fit me in same day. Once I came in with my dog, James asked what my needs were. He explained kindly that what I'd like done wasn't the most beneficial for the breed of dog I have and suggested an alternative grooming style. I was so pleased with the results and both my dog and I are happy. My dog is very skiddish and they remained gentle and calm with him. Upon picking him up, he was actually quite relaxed and clearly liked the people working there. Amazing experience! My dog is terrified of the groomers and getting his nails clip as he has been cut so many times. I called and asked about walk-ins for nails they said sure no problem we close in 30 mins. I arrived, they helped me right away and they were so amazing with Buddy! We took our dog here the first time over a year ago, it was close to our house and the only place we could get in, during the pandemic. Not having gotten a dog groomed before we didn't know any better so assumed the $100+ was standard, but we're disappointed that our dog came back not looking much different than when we dropped her off and we actually did some more trimming when we got home. Took her again a few months ago (slow learners) and this time was $90 and she came back still having mats and again barely trimmed. When I asked what the problem was the owner got rude and defensive. I just wanted to know if the problem was with them or if our dog was unmanageable. Couldn't get a straight answer. Took her last month to another groomer, $60, came home completely trimmed and happy. Lesson learned. I would not recommend Coature. Over priced and sketchy. read more

Called on a Wednesday for appointment and was able to get Ruby in the next day. Ruby is a 45 pound, 10 year old Brittany. When we dropped her off the staff was very friendly and seemed very knowledgable. We wanted a bath and trim for summer heat. The owner gave suggestions on her trim. We picked her up about two hours later. She looked great and smelled great. We were quite pleased, they gave the summer cut as we wanted and retained (albeit shorter) the feathering typical of the breed. Bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, and the grooming was $65. read more

Came here once to get my cat's nails trimmed and butt shaved. Horrible experience, never coming back. I get that it was busy, but it was unacceptable how they treated my cat. It took only five minutes tops and it was shown in the quality of the grooming. My cat had multiple nails that weren't trimmed and had cuts from the shaving. Her thighs had razor burn and were red. She is usually good about being groomed because she was a show cat but she was screaming and super unhappy. She was screaming because it was painful and the groomer did not care or maybe even notice, he just kept going and man handled her. I did not tip, obviously. I was in so much shock I didn't say something but I really wish I had so that it is not just over yelp. Also, this was over a month ago but I wanted to write this because it bothers me so much. I actually learned how to trim my own cat's nails now because I don't want to risk bringing her to a place like this again and having them cut off her finger or something... it was THAT bad. read more

This was my dog's first trip to a groomer. He is an Australian Herd dog and spent a few hard years on the street so it looked like this: needs: Tons of brushing to get his shedding undercoat under control Bath Nails clipped Sam: Does not like new people or being around groups of dogs Does not like getting picked up, held or "cornered" Hates Water Absolutely does not let people touch his front paws The experience was awesome. Scheduling was a breeze, got in the following day. Staff was great, spent time with Sam to start things off on a mellow note and he looked and felt like a million bucks when I got him back. They spent 3 hours getting him all pretty and having brushed Sam some myself I can say without a doubt the price was very reasonable. Will be bringing him back for more. If you have a pet that needs some TLC, you can't go wrong coming here. read more

I had a bad experience here, gave it another chance, now I'm done. I don't need to be made to feel bad about the fact that I don't want to groom my dog between groomings - that's your job. That's what I pay you to do. How many times do I need to stand at the counter and be made to feel bad? The dog isn't a mess, he just needs to be groomed. It also says something that this place has hardly any parking but they take up an entire spot right in front where clients should be parking. I am updating my review after my most recent (and sadly to be my LAST) experience here. My first visit was great, went without a hitch; the second, third, fourth and fifth about the same. But the last two times I brought my dog here, I was disappointed with customer service, the counter guy, who happens to be the owner, became gradually unfriendly and was downright RUDE and gave me some attitude on the phone when I called to get my dog in. It was morning so I can't say that maybe he'd had a long day and give him a free pass. My husband also told me that the owner was rude when he picked up our dog and I hadn't even told him yet about my experience. It's not like it was an employee, which is a fixable issue, it's the owner we're talking about. Another huge concern to me was that my dog was shaking and trembling for an hour after my husband picked her up. She only stopped after laying on my chest and lots of soothing and petting. She was walking funny (that could have just been her nails), ears and head down, with her tail tucked. She is 7 years old and has never acted this way after vet checks or any grooming appointments, of which she's had many. I have no idea what may or may not have happened at that appointment but with the rude owner and my dog showing me those negative signs, I refuse to take a chance of making her feel that way again; it was absolutely pitiful the way she was acting. Again, she does not typically act this way, it was completely out of character, which is why it really got my attention. I don't know what happened that day but I figure if human customers can be talked to in a rude fashion, I doubt dogs are any higher on the totem pole. If my dog could talk, I'm pretty sure she'd say please don't take me back there. I understand that I'm leaving a bad review amongst other good reviews (of which mine was too at one time) but I felt I needed to share this just to make others aware and to keep an eye on your dog after grooming at ANY groomers. Also, don't accept anything less than excellent customer service. read more

Moved to chico last summer and brought my little dog there, they did great job. So a few months went by and I brought my dog in for another grooming. They seemed to not even remember who I was even though we had a great talk the previous time, so I kinda ignored that part since it was a while back. I told them I had a doberman and he said if I ever wanted just a wash he'd do it for $20. So I called to get to set an appointment to bring my doberman in and I wanted to confirm the price.. of course they forgot who I was even though I mentioned my little dog that they groomed twice... still didn't remember our conversation. The owner said he'd do him for $35 and will drop it to $25 if I bring the other one in for a grooming and that no one would beat that price. Wow I never felt so unappreciated as a customer. I had my Yorkshire Terrier taken to this place yesterday..... Yeah, So i would like to tell you that i have 2 Yorkshire Terriers and one of them was taken the week prior to the regular pet groomer, but i needed the other taken care of asap, and they didnt have any space. The only place that i found was this place i read the review thought it would be ok..... She was dropped off and picked up by a family member. Wow i haven't ever been charged $30.00 + for a bath and a brush! her nails aren't even trimmed like they should be...... I love this place! I have a big Old English Sheepdog, Molly, who requires frequent grooming. Coature has been wonderful with her. I have taken my dog to several other groomers over the years and this is the best place I've found so far. They are very professional and consistent. The owner obviously treats his employees well because the people who work there really seem to enjoy their job. They always go the extra mile, and tell me of any problem areas they notice on my dog, that I would not always be able really see on my own, and they alert me to potential skin issues before they become problematic and require a vet. I LOVE that about them SO much! There's been times when they have done a little bit of First Aid on problem skin areas, thorns in her paw, or things like that, that potentially could go unnoticed and turn into big problems, and big vet bills. They are an extremely conscientious, and imo, the best groomers in town! read more

I LOVE Coature Pet Spa!!!! I take my Doxie terrier Oli in once a month for a spa day. They give him a bath with shampoo and conditioner that makes his coat so soft and shiny! They also do a de-shedding with him along with anal glands, cleaning his ears and cutting his nails (which is the hardest thing for me to do on my own with him) they also do hair cuts but he is short haired so he doesn't need one. And all of that for a very fair price!! The first time I took him in he was very scared and when I picked him up the owner told me he was crying the whole time and was very scared of literally everything. He also reassured me that it's completely normal and told me I was welcome to come back and that it should get better with time. The next apt I made, I made sure to warn them about how big of a baby he was last time. Much to my surprise, when I picked him up the second time the owner told me he was really great the whole time and didn't cry once. Which was a huge relief! Now every time I take him in he gets super excited and the girls there know him by name and are always so sweet and caring with him. It's not easy leaving your pup with people whom you don't know well; but the people who work at Coature Pet Spa are absolutely amazing and they really do take good care of my Oliver! I have a few friends who take their dogs there too and feel the same way. I highly recommend you give them a try!! read more

I was just in there for the first time today. I have a little chihuahua that has been a terror while having his nails clipped. So I always go in so fearful when he needs his nails clipped. The two people working in there were so professional and understanding and nice. She made my little monster not fear the clipper. The first time in his five years he behaved while having his nails clipped. He practically relaxed in her arms and he hates strangers. An absolute first. I was BLOWN AWAY! This is such an awesome dog grooming salon. They groomed my yorkie twice and he always seems to be well taken care of. They did an amazing job on his hair cut and you can tell they really care about the pets they work with. The salon is open so you can see the way they care for the pets.
