On top of our $370 room rate, we were charged an additional $20 resort fee upon arrival. Yes, it is disclosed on the website, but we didn't notice it. Approximately only 6% of hotels charge resort fees and they are widely considered a deceptive price rip-off. We were also charged $5 per person for breakfast. Again, given the price of the room, it would be a much better customer experience to simply include breakfast in the room rate rather than adding another charge. We may have decided not to stay at $400 a night, but it would be honest pricing on behalf of the hotel. For the on-site management: There is also room for improvement in hospitality. The resort fee states, among other things, that "There is a $20 daily use fee which covers Afternoon Tea & Cookies." We checked in around 4:30 and went to enjoy the afternoon tea and cookies, which are advertised as being available from 3-5 p.m. There was no hot water at the tea station and only two cookies remaining. I asked the staff member there how there could be so little left at 4:30, especially since check-in begins at 4. I was told they could get more hot water, but that the amenity was primarily for guests staying more than one night. They did bring out more hot water, but no additional cookies or baked goods. Really? There was no backup supply? This was the only resort-fee amenity we tried to use, and unfortunately, we weren't able to enjoy it as advertised. Our second disappointment was the in-room tub, which ran out of hot water before it was even half full. A relaxing bath was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here, so that was particularly disappointing. The good: The grounds are lovely, the room was clean, and the property was very quiet. After experiencing two instances of things running out, I read some of the other online reviews and noticed that several guests mentioned breakfast running out as well. We therefore arrived right when breakfast started, and fortunately, it was good and there was plenty available throughout our breakfast. Overall, this could be a lovely splurge, but at around $400 for one night, I expected a little more attention to the details and a better overall hospitality experience.

I can get a goodie anywhere, so I took the bonus points. On top of that, I still got a cookie and a bottle of water. It was a good cookie! The room was very good, up to IHG standards. A large room, everything was spotless, a fridge, a microwave, a walk-in shower, a desk to work or do stuff with my laptop, if you don't have a laptop with you, but you still need to do some work, they have computers available in the lobby The Wi-Fi was plenty fast, and there were plenty of places to charge my gear. There was a couch with a hide a bed, although I didn't need it, and the bed was large and extremely comfortable. I got a good night sleep. Breakfast was excellent in the morning, as I always get at Holiday Inn express. Sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, a pancake machine, as well as their excellent biscuits and gravy. They also had the cinnamon rolls which they are known for. A good way to start the day and get me going. This location was easy enough to find with GPS, but other wise just go south on Center Drive and when you see the Walmart on the right, turn left and go down the little street to the hotel. We arrived a little too early and the rooms weren't ready yet, official check in is 3 pm, but we thought we might get in early, so we waited over at the Starbucks right near the hotel. I get a call the rooms are ready, so the front desk is on the ball! As the crew unloads all our stuff out of the big rental SUV, I do the check in and it all goes smooth. We get our keys and go to our rooms. My room was clean and nice and the first thing I check is the WiFi. It's working fine and I can get work done. The connection is fast enough to stream Netlix or whatever, but I gotta work so no time to stream stuff! The rest of the room is clean and the bathroom is fine and everything works and no stray hairs that weren't my color! The coffee maker worked fine as well. Breakfast is included n the mornings and it was hot and tasty as usual and the selection was just about the same as all the Holiday Inn Express locations. Hot choices as well as breads to toast and cereal if you want that. This is a good location of the Holiday Inn Expresses and I'd stay here again. None of my crew had any complaints either.
