I've used Cobblestone for years, going back to when I was in the military, and they were always dependable. Even after I retired, I brought in a pair of cowboy boots to have ripple soles put on--no problems at all. But my last couple of experiences haven't been the same. The first time, I had a pair resoled and they used white material instead of the original coyote color. I was told that's all they had, which I can understand--but I would've gladly paid extra to have them dyed to match. That part was frustrating, but I let it go. This last experience, though, was beyond disappointing. They've had my boots since November--I remember because I didn't have them for an event I needed them for. I checked in a few times and kept being told they weren't ready. Then today (03/30/2026), I got a text saying they were ready for pickup. I drove over there, only to find out they hadn't even been worked on. I was told they couldn't get the material needed to finish them. Horrible experience -- waste of money. I spent just under $2,000 here, including nearly $600 on repairing a leather bag. Mike, one of the employees, was great -- professional, attentive, and clearly not at fault. The issue is with the company itself. Despite being charged for every little detail on my bag (I specifically remember Mike carefully noting and taping each hole), the bag came back with nothing fixed. I paid for services that were simply not done. On top of that, they completely botched a pair of my loafers. This company clearly has zero eye for detail and absolutely no care for their customers. They're happy to take your money without delivering on their promises. For the amount I paid, the results were insulting. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They should be out of business. They also did nothing on a belt that I brought. This company is absolutely the worst. Please stay away from them. They will only disappoint. read more

I have had my second experience with Mike and getting my shoes repaired and he is extremely knowledgeable and nice. My mother has been coming here for years and suggested I try here first before i just threw my shoes away and I am thankful I did. Mike has been more than fair with what to expect from a stretching a shoe to a full out repair thanks to our new pup. The price is spot on for what we would for the service provided. EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED! Asked for boots to be shined and polished the salesman said we can do a full reconditioning of the boot which is even better for $40 so I went for it. Boots came back looking terrible and still had mud and dirt on them. The salesman then told me we can shine them for more money and then I said what about the dirt and they said it costs extra to get the dirt off the boot. What the hell is going on with these people??? All I wanted was a shoe shine they upsell me and give me dirty boots boots back. read more

I have been taking my boots and shoes to this location for several years. Never had any problems or issues with quality of repairs until I took my Red Wing boots for sole replacement a few weeks ago. I do this this to extend the life of boots and save on buying a new pair. The new attendant (Ramirez) is an idiot, He has one year experience in this business. I explained what I wanted and he took the boots in. Called a few days later and said were ready only to see that only the heels were replaced. When I questioned him on the rest he said it couldn't be done despite me explaining to him that I do this all the time. He lied and argued with me as I called him out on his ignorance. I then took boots to the Blanco location and had them repaired there. That attendant has years of experience and it shows. DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES HERE! RED FLAG WARNING - If you value your things, this is not the place to do business with - EVER. This is the most irresponsible business that I have ever encountered. When I say, worst ever, I mean it. I took a pair of mules to them in July of 2023 to have the heels repaired. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for 4 months and now am the recipient of the worst customer service ever. 1. They lost my mules. Under normal circumstances this is inconvenient, but my late husband gave them to me and I am extremely fond of them. 2. I showed up 8 times to check in about my mules and was told 7 of the 8 times someone would get back to me. No one ever did. As of this review we are 6 months out and the crisis management person is proving to be as useless as the store manager in Alamo Heights were I took the mules. 3. I have asked for contact information for the owner and this crew gate keeps that information. What is there to hide if you have a successful and responsible business? 4. Stopped by to drop off a pair of boots for repair at about 1:15PM yesterday. Sign on the front door said "closed for lunch" or words to that effect with a clock indicating the store would reopen at 2PM. Really; who does this? Is business so good and customer service so unimportant that you just close up shop in the middle of the work day. I brought my lucchese boots to be resoled. I had to pay almost double because I wanted the same western style heel, which was fine. This comes to over $150.00. When I got them back though one boot had a huge gouge on the leather part of the boot. I mentioned it to the clerk, he said to let him work on them. I asked him what would be the fix for something like that. He said he would dye them. I said I could do that. He never said anything about the inconvenience of this or offer a discount. I left a review on Google and was contacted by the main company. They said to bring them back. They'll make it right. A couple of weeks pass by and I hear nothing so I call the store. The clerk says that I should have received a text, but I hadn't. So I go in to pick up the boots once again. They look better, but I know that they're weakened at that spot. I ask for some kind of discount. The clerk says no. Any discount needs to come from higher up. He's not going to ask. I tell him that this is poor customer service. Silence. I tell him that I will be leaving negative reviews. Silence. I tell him to tell the owner. Silence. This is a chain store. They have shops all over town. There's no reason for poor customer service. Or worse, clerks that won't communicate with the owners. I wasn't looking for a total refund; just a discount for my battered boots and having to come back and forth numerous times. Minimal cleaning on my purses. They couldn't locate my LV bag that I had for repair. There was supposed to be a custom leather strap made to replace the one that I had (which I am regretting now because I never received the original leather strap back) and that took weeks longer than what I was quoted. Things happen totally understand but there was zero communication. If I got someone to answer it was a Christmas miracle. I normally had to take time out of my schedule and visit the establishment to receive any answer and none of them were ever good news. I finally received the product days before I was to move to a new state so I had to "get what I get and not throw a fit". Now that I am settled in I took the bag out and upon inspecting it thoroughly I HAD to leave a review. The strap is an entirely different color than the trim of the bag and the buckles that were placed on the replacement strap are two different colors. I paid good money for this attempted refurbish by "professionals" and I am here trying to match the leather with Kiwi brand leather reviver stuff. Geez! Come on now. I had to give them a star because the other bags that just needed cleaning were ok and the man that works there was polite. I would NOT recommend them though. read more

I took two pairs of Christian Louboutin women's heels in for the custom red slip grip sole protectors. My nude New Simple Pumps were brand spanking new. As most people know, that beautiful shinny bright red sole is very slippery. I paid to have that slip grip sole protector put on. I also had them stretch the inside leather for a more comfortable fit without having to wear them in. They did a very nice job. I wish that the red sole was a little bit of a closer match to the original Christian Louboutin red color but for the price and quality, I can't complain. My royal blue Shelley Patent Calf heels were in terrible shape. They showed obvious wear on the soles and the heels. I had them redo the sole with the red slip grip sole protector and also had the heel caps replaced. They did a fantastic job! They brought life back into these shoes! Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of work. The turn around time was great, I dropped my shoes off on a Monday and they were ready by Friday of the same week. The customer service was also very good. I was hesitant to take my business here after reading some of the reviews but all of the negative had to do with the customer service, not the quality of work. I was willing to deal with less than satisfactory customer service if the quality of work was going to be top notch. Needlessto say, that wasn't the case. My boy friend has been going here for 10 years. He took his Ariat work boots for a re sole and a cleaning. He went back to pick them up and they pulled out a pair of tennis shoes claiming they were the boots that he dropped off. Once he told them those were not his they told him they might've gotten lost to come back in a week. It's been over a month. I understand things happen sometimes but Mike Ramirez is the WORST "business" man to deal with. He said they still hadn't found them that he needs to "start his search all over again". (We had already given him ample amount of time to search for the boots after he said they were lost). We asked how long it would take to possibly find them and he said he "didn't know". At this point we just wanted to be compensated for the boots. He told us he couldn't find the boots and wouldn't compensate us for the boots and to get out of his store. Was yelling in front of other customers, very unprofessional and rude. I will be contacting my attorney. There is a way to handle certain situations in a professional business like manner and all Mike seems to say is "get out, I don't know when I will find them, I need time, I'll text you in a month." He even threatened and acted like he was calling the police, we even stayed waiting for them to arrive but he never did because we weren't doing anything wrong, all we wanted was answers and he knew he was in the wrong. I will NEVER trust this business with my shoes again. The previous man who ran the store was beyond incredible. Took my backpack in to have them replace a buckle and the bottom redone with black suede. This was last November. They said it will just be a couple of weeks and I told them that's fine. Now it's late March and after several calls to them trying to keep up and find out where my backpack was, they called and said it was ready. Went to pick it up and they didn't suede it, they just slapped on a cheap patch of what looked like pleather. They didn't even follow the pattern correctly for the bottom of the pack. I explained that this is the wrong material and they got glue splotches all sloppy over the area. The service man said well that's all they had. I explained you don't just substitute without notifying the owner. The. Still wanted to charge me for the suede I didn't get. I told him no I'm not paying that much for this horrible work plus not the material that was ordered. He grabbed the pack from me and said well we will just keep it there then???... Do NOT entrust your beloved leather goods to this place. These guys are NOT cobblers and lack integrity- they ship all repairs out to the cheapest factory they can find. Atrocious workmanship. Left a Dolce and Gabbana belt to have a new grommet/eyelet put on plus reglue leather. $30, fine. When I went to pick up, they had used the wrong size grommet and of far inferior quality. No leather repair either. When I tried to address this, the excuses were plentiful and they could "try again." Something about things being in short supply because of the pandemic and they just are so busy shipping items back and forth. He refused to give me my belt back without paying full price for incomplete work. I then mentioned I wanted to pay and leave so I could report him to the BBB but then he decided to "give me a discount." Absolutely disgusted with how slimy of an interaction it all was. These guys are absolutely awesome. I had a wedding over the weekend for which I needed to prepare but was unable to get my shoes in until Thursday due to a crazy amount of work I was experiencing. I got there at opening and explained my situation. These gentlemen took pity on my sorry state and agreed to expedite this request. I picked them up later and the shoes looked absolutely incredible (including covering for a portion of shoe tip that was peeling). My fiance was very impressed. Mostly for sole protectors to help prevent wear and tear on my shoes, but for misc. needs like fixing a broken strap on my favorite flat sandals, or fixing a couple broken heels on some wedges. I have never had such a poor customer service experience in my life. I took a pair of shoes to them to have the liner replaced. They talked me into also having the sole and heels replaced so I paid $82 for the total repair. They sent the shoes out for the sole and heels and then were supposed to do the liner themselves. After three weeks, they texted so I picked up the shoes. When I got home I realized they had done nothing on the liner so I took the shoes back again. They said they would have them ready the next day. After over a week and no phone call, I went back to get the shoes. I had to wait 25 minutes because they couldn't find the shoes for the woman in front of me in line. When I got home again, I realized that they had re-glued the liner but left multiple hard ridges in the toe area. I took the shoes back again today to get them to fix the original problem with the liner. I was told it would be another $35.00!!! When I challenged the man and asked him to look up my original ticket, he became indignant and was more than happy to lose my business forever. Those who know me know of my... involvement with shoes. I love them, they're my babies, and I take great care of them. Shoes are an investment, in my opinion. You maintain your investments. Recently, I scored an awesome deal on a pair of slingbacks, but they were a smidge too large. I did a quick Yelp search and found Cobblestone Shoe Hospital nearby and zipped over. Jesus put new holes in the strap of my shoe in about 2.5 seconds and refused to let me pay him for it. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The second time I went back, he poked more holes for me, and explained why I kept having issues with the shoes stretching out. I was instructed to bring them back after the holidays (because I wanted to wear these babies!) to have a small bit replaced to fix the issue. He also promised me that he'd have some nifty heel protectors since I tend to be a klutz. He's hooking my shoes up! This is where I'll be bringing all of my beautiful shoes to be repaired, broken in, protected, everything. I'm sold. read more

This is the first cobbler I've ever been to, and it's located right by my house which is a huge plus. Heel tip replacements ran me about $13. To reattach the soles of my boots, it was $17. On my leather thong sandals, I had the leather thong reattached to the sole of my shoe, and I also had some soles reglued. It seems like they really do it all there. They also fix purses and belts. I got 9 pairs of shoes fixed for just under $100, so I guess that's not too bad! My only qualm is that I was called multiple times to come pick up my shoes. They were ready right after Thanksgiving, and I was out of town. Then I had a birthday, and I went out of town again. Once, the person who called me seemed frustrated and told me that he had a lot of shoes to store, and that he needed mine out. That bothered me. But when I went to pick up my shoes, the man was very nice. So maybe he was having a bad day. I'd definitely go back if I ever needed my shoes or leather goods repaired. read more

Do not take your shoes to this business! Took a pair of Col Hans to be resoled and was told it would take a week and they would call me to let me know when to pick them up. 4 week pass, no word, so I go to the store at week 5 and ask about the boots. Sure enough, they're there and no excuse for why I wasn't called. The shoes had glue all around the edges and it looked like one of the soles wasn't completely attached. I pointed this out to the manager and he said not to worry. I wore the boots 3 times the following week and both soles completely separated from the boots. I returned to the shop that following Saturday and the Manager said he's never seen that happen and he'd need to send them back. I said I expected to be refunded for the repair due to the delays and the poor workmanship and the fact that I would be without the shoes for another X number of weeks. He said it would take a week. 3 weeks later I get actually get notified my boots are ready. When I pick them up, they're in the same condition as the first time and again I point this out to the manager. I raise my concern about the poor workmanship. I also ask about the refund and he tells me that the owner wouldn't discount/refund the cost despite their failures and then he had the audacity to say to me that I should have been charged more for the repair. I paid almost $100 for the service, so not sure what more they want to charge me for!!! Bottom line, they're customer service and workmanship isn't worth your time or money!! read more

My wife dropped off a pair of my elephant hide Lucchese boots that need the soles & heels replaced as well as a pair of Prada dress boots that needed to have the zipper repaired. The man who my wife dealt with was absolutely fantastic! he told her that he could take care of both things quickly and easily. I had previously talked to the local Lucchese store and it was going to cost $250 and several months to get my soles and heels replaced. I picked my boots up after about a week - not only did he do an incredible job on the sole and heels of my Luccheses but he also reconditioned the leather, fixed my Prado boots, and reconditioned those as well. Both pairs are better than new now because they are perfectly worn in but look like brand new. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Oh, the cost for my Lucchese repair? $108!!! $20+ for my Prada repair! Holy cow that is cheap and the quality of the work is second to none. I was a customer of Central Boot & Shoe Repair all the way back to 1978. Very faithful and loyal and only went somewhere else when they couldn't do what I needed. The cobbler has cancer and after a valiant fight, he was no longer strong enough to work. He and his wife are two of the nicest and hardest working people I know. After they closed shop Cobblestone bought them out so I started going there. I took one thing in and it was a relatively easy experience, but not spectacular (or free or fast) as others here have experienced. About 2 weeks ago I was contemplating buying a Jon Hart briefcase which is not an inexpensive item. It had a handle clasp that I didn't like and couldn't order without. The ladies at Sparkles suggested I see if Cobblestone could remove it. I took detailed photos from every angle and walked over to ask Jesus if he could remove it and what the cost would be. He quoted a price and said it was very easy to do and he could do it for me while I waited. I asked if I needed to bring the briefcase in so he could be sure (Sparkles had offered to let me do this) but he insisted it wasn't necessary. These bags are monogrammed and not returnable, but I thought I had done my due diligence and returned to Sparkles to order the bag. It came in a couple of days later so I took it over to Jesus to remove the handle and you guessed it--he couldn't do it while I waited. It was going to be more involved than he thought, but it could still be done only he would have to send it out and I wouldn't have it for a week. No problem. Until I went to pick it up. And the price was double. He refused to honor the original quote even though he never told me the price would be different. He claimed the price was written on the claim check, but low and behold he couldn't find it even though I handed it to him less than 5 minutes before. I tried to discuss this with him, but he was very rude and told me not to expect things for free. I don't, but I do expect a business person to honor their word. I will never set foot in this place again and will make sure everyone I know is aware that consistency in service and deed cannot be expected. And on a final note. There was an article in the paper today about Cobblestone acquiring Central Boot & Shoe Repair. This same guy--who I realize is probably not used to being interviewed--made a very rude comment about how Cobblestone was better than Central because they had been in business longer. First of all, there is no logic in that. AT&T has been around for 100+ years and there are many competitors that are far superior. But more than that, it was a mean spirited thing to say about the couple that retired due to terminal cancer. What a JERK!! read more

I had a clasp that fell off my Coach purse- a simple repair. The "cobbler" sewed thru the leather and right on top of the interior Coach fabric- I could see the stitches!- What a disaster! He also glued leather pieces together rather than stitching or replacing them- I knew this because the two pieces came apart when I picked it up- what a scammer! The worst part was that when I asked him to fix it he refused! My purse is more damaged and I am out of the money. Whatever you do DO NOT go here! First I must say that I have been using this establishment for many years and always was pleased with their service. Having said that, about two weeks ago I took my leather booties for repair - needed new heel tips. 5 days later and about $17.00 I had them back. I wore them 2-3 times (No more) and tips wore off (almost impossible, I know). When I took them back to "complain" I was indirectly told that I am either laying or have a memory loss as such heel tip is impossible to were off just in 2-3 times. No, apologies etc, nothing. My advice, take and keep your receipts and mark what shoes you were repairing. Not a professional service at all. Time to find different place. read more

Brought my favorite pair of boots here for a resole and when I got them back I noticed there was a gap where the shoe meets the sole that was not there before. I mentioned something to him and he said it was fine. I wore them in Chicago and my feet got totally wet by the toes. Brought them back and he said that they don't make boots waterproof or not and that it must have been like that. He offered no solutions and said it was my problem. On one occasion I took a pair of dress shoes in for resole, and the gentleman at the counter was upfront about the cost of repair probably being more than the shoes were with. This review is regarding the San Antonio Cobblestone Shoe hospital on New Braunfels Ave. Terrible experience at this specific location (see below): Dropped off running shoe for repair at this location. I was told to pay when I pick up. Work was good. The customer service was terrible. I had my 3 year old daughter with me. When I came in to pick up and pay, the person did not want to honor a $7 purchased Groupon that was valid/not expired for $15 worth of work. The older gentleman, William, struggled tremendously with people skills and disrespect, when I presented him the Groupon. After raising in his voice, some back and forth and me asking the man not to raise his voice and talk to me like he was in front of my daughter, I had to pay for the service in full (the man held my shoe and told me to pay in full or he would call the police) and left the store, realizing that he wouldn't honor my Groupon and I need my shoe. When I asked him toward the end of the visit, he wouldn't give me his name even when I asked a couple of times, wouldn't give me his supervisors name and told me to "look it up on the website". He then insulted me in front of my daughter by calling me "small minded" and "intellectually challenged" because "I did not present the Groupon earlier". I never insulted or raised my voice to this man the entire time as my daughter was present. The person, if honest, will admit this. This man must have been having a really bad day prior to visit but that is no excuse. My daughter kept repeating, daddy the shoe man mean. She says it randomly to this day. I have reached out to this business through their website by emailing them once every week simply asking them to "please call me back to discuss an issue that occurred at one of their stores". I have emailed them 2 times in total. Weeks and months have passed. I received no call back and no response to this day. Mistakes are understandable and everyone has a bad day. Just own up to it and apologize and move on. This did not happen. Not only did the employee not apologize up until this point but the business did not call me back to discuss the issue. That shows me there is a problem, not just with the employee but possibly throughout this business, which may be why they are turning to Groupon for foot traffic.
