    HOLY MOLY QUESADILLA

Parking 2/5 -Came on a Sunday during holiday weekend, so it was super busy and hard to find free parking that are on the street and in a nearby lot that offers 4-hr free parking. We ended up parking in a paid lot nearby. Service 5/5 -Staff was undermanned but very nice and helpful, food did not take long to arrive after ordering. Food 5/5 -Holy Moly Quesadilla $21.5, great presentation, food arrived hot and fresh. Tortilla felt flakey and had a good bite to it. I picked steak for my protein, and it tasted tender and juicy! Steak pieces were chunky and overall just a lot better than most steak quesadilla I've had. Great portion, I was full after 2 out of the 4 slices of quesadilla and I was hungry eating this as my first meal of the day. Ambiance 4/5 -We moved from inside to outside because it was more breezy, medium noise level, they had the World Cup game on. Overall a decent environment for gathering.

My fiancée and I came to Cocinas Del Monte during the lunch hour, and we were excited to learn that they were still serving breakfast. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and we were immediately greeted by our friendly server, Chris. He checked on us regularly, made great food recommendations, and was attentive when it was time to pay the bill. It's a nice, chill place. As I've shared in other reviews, food in Old Town is typically expensive and not that good. Cocinas Del Monte is EXCELLENT, and I highly recommend it for breakfast. I had the Perfect Benedict, which included a thick piece of ham and a creamy hollandaise sauce. I usually order fruit as a side, but today I tried the hash browns. I asked for them extra crispy and they were okay; they were flooded with flavor but a little greasy and not crispy. Next time I'll order a fruit side.

Invited to a private party on a Saturday evening. Great graduation party with chips, salsa and guacamole at each table. Food was very good but the buffet setup was a bit chaotic. Next to the plates and utensils were the condiments and the tortillas were in the middle with the beans and rice at the end. They cleared it for desserts. The flan was delicious Service was very friendly and efficient. I had their watermelon juice which I enjoyed along with their house Margarita. Parking on a Saturday evening was a challenge but after a few try's I found a nearby park spot.

I yelped this place some locals had recommended this restaurant for breakfast so we decided to give it a try. I did read some reviews complaining about service and how long they took on bringing out the food but the positives outweighed these minor reviews. For us a big party of 11 the service was great our server was real attentive and had a really good vibe to himself. The food was tasty! Had flavor and the portions were big enough for anybody that looking to get full off there first meal of the day like me. The pricing is more middle I am not going to say it's cheap for a family no but for two it's perfect for the quality of food. Would recommend this place for filling breakfast with many great options!

Was in Old Town and stop here. I ordered chicken enchiladas. The waiter let me sample both the red and green sauce after questioning how spicy they were. I went with the green sauce which isn't my norm. The enchiladas were good, however. You should definitely check it out.

I walked in as a party of 3. There was no wait time and the environment was not busy at all for it being around 3:30pm. We had ordered watermelon juice and instead of it being brought out, they had brought out orange juice and when the server took it away, she brought out the same orange juice that we said we didn't order. Once our food arrived, they did not bring the consomé that was supposed to come with the quesabirria tacos. My friend had also ordered carne asada fries and it came out plain without the pico de gallo on it. I would not recommend based off the attentiveness of the server as well as the food lacking flavor.

Cocinas Del Monte is the current tenant at a corner suite of a busy intersection in Old Town. The space has seen many Mexican restaurants pass through its doors which is unusual because the area gets a decent amount of foot traffic from visitors. They have a covered front and side patio for outdoor seating and an inside dining room which was where I ended up. A couple of large parties were seated, but the rest of the place was unoccupied. Two separate menu booklets were handed to me, one for beverages and one for food. I selected a Strawberry Lemonade for a drink that did have fresh fruit slices added and wasn't too sweet. I was in the mood for a breakfast item and chose a Denver Omelette from the list of five preset combinations. Ham, bell peppers, onions, and mixed cheese were the ingredients. A choice of toast (English muffin was my pick) or tortilla along with a side (hash browns was my pick) came with the order. The hash browns were grilled to a nice degree of crispiness. A couple of pats of butter were provided for the English muffin. The omelette was okay because it was a bit smaller in serving size for the price compared to some of the local breakfast joints I frequent. The service from the staff was acceptable. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my recent breakfast Cocinas Del Monte.

This restaurant was an amazing way to end our trip! Our server Abdi was very friendly and helpful with the menu, he brought us out a couple of salsas they were fresh and so good! All the food was honestly really good. It tasted very authentic and homemade. It's such a cute restaurant too I loved the vibe 10/10, highly recommend

Located in old town, there are plenty of street parking around the spot. We sat on the patio for brunch. Our server was welcoming, though the overall service was noticeably slow. It took a while for our food to arrive, and even longer to get our check. I ordered the Del Rancho Eggs with green salsa. The dish was descent (the best thing was probably the rice), but didn't stand out compared to other authentic Mexican spots. The corn tortillas also didn't taste freshly made, which is a letdown. I'm not sure who was in charge of the playlist, I found it funny the restaurant was playing high school pop music the whole time we were there.

Brought the family to SD today to have a good breakfast and came across Cocinas del Monte. Great Authentic Mexican restaurant with a solid breakfast menu, friendly staff (shout out to Sebastian our waiter) and chill San Diego vibes. We sat in the outdoor patio by the water feature and it was a great experience. Toddler friendly too.

Came here for a late brunch and we had a pretty great time! We were sat immediately as they weren't that busy. The outdoor dining area was breathtaking with the fountain that they had in the middle. Our server was pretty quick in getting our order in but there was a bit of a wait for our food and drinks. I ordered the strawberry lemonade which was okay because it tasted a bit watered down. My friend ordered the tropical smoothie which he said was good but tasted mostly like bananas. For food I ordered the Eggs Your Way: over easy eggs, sourdough bread, hashbrows, and sausage. I really enjoyed my meal because the eggs was cooked just the way I like it and the hashbrowns were nice and crispy. $18 for this meal though seems a bit pricey to me. My friend ordered the Cinnamon Crunchy French Toast and he said it was good and satisfied his craving.

Love driving around old town San Diego , it was about 12pm and we were still desiring breakfast. If you want breakfast served all day this is the place to go. The servers are amazing and kind, they were really overwhelmed however and it did take a little longer than usual to get our food but all in all it was worth it. The flavors were delicious and you can definitely personalize your pancakes and waffles to your liking . The Mexican Hot Chocolate was decadent. I didn't like the fact that the inside seating did not have central air and in the dead of summer it was kind of gross. There was also weird pond in the middle of the restaurant but still found it odd, as I'm sure it may have a history attached to it somehow.

The moment you step inside, the bi-level space makes a striking impression with its mid-century accents, exposed brick, and warm, moody lighting. It manages to balance a lively, energetic atmosphere with an effortless chicness that feels tailored for a memorable night out. The happy hour here is an absolute standout, featuring an expansive array of creative food options and crafted drinks. The menu brings an inventive Asian fusion twist to bar bites, offering flavor-forward small plates that pair seamlessly with the beverage program. The drinks deserve equal applause: the craft cocktails are meticulously balanced, and the signature ube-inspired cocktails are as vibrant and distinct as they are delicious. Adding to the venue's overall charm is the live music program. Catching live jazz, soul, and blues sets elevates the entire experience from a simple dinner run into a full sensory event. The music creates a vibrant, soulful backdrop without overpowering table conversation, striking just the right rhythm for intimate catch-ups or energetic group gatherings. Whether you are dropping in for a quick drink, indulging in a multi-dish happy hour spread, or lingering late for the live tunes and exceptional cocktails, Books & Records captures everything that makes CS Hospitality's concepts so special. It is a stylish, fun, and flavorful addition to San Diego's dining scene.

It was very great hospitality. Our waiter was very helpful and check in on us quite often. The service was Superb. Now the food, we went on a Wednesday which they have Happy Hour all day. We ordered The Record Room Burger which came with Fries. This was very tasty. The fries were excellent. I tried one of my friend's dishes which was the Lamb Meatballs and that was amazing. Sadly, the B&R Mac n Cheese did not do it for me. It was missing seasoning and the flakes tasted stale. The staff did give us salt & pepper to jazz it up which did help. Regardless of the mac n cheese, I really enjoyed this place. The red wine was perfection. Overall it was a great experience and I gotta go back to check out other food items.
