    Grilled Fish Taco plate. Mel_foodie_ventures
    Melanie P.

I came here to celebrate my daughter's graduation and I was happy that we were able to see the water from our seats! Since we were a large party, I didn't book far ahead enough to get a table that wasn't bar height. Nevertheless, the table we had was able to accommodate us all. The customer service was hit and miss since we had to constantly ask for the dips for the chips. We also were running out of water and we had to flag people down to get refills. Ive been to several Miguel's around San Diego, so I'm quite familiar with the menu. This time around, I got the grilled fish tacos. It came with beans and rice. Fish was seasoned well but overall the taco was just okay for me. Hard to compete with other great places in SD. Portions sizes are generous and I only got to eat just the tacos since the chips made me full! Parking can be a bit challenging since parking spots fill up quick especially during the weekend.

Gorgeous and a bit dark and well thought out decor all around. We waited about 30 minutes (they said it would be about 45. On point.) to be seated. Once seated everything was pretty normal but I couldn't stop looking at the ceiling (chain chandeliers). The food was great. I can never get over their white sauce. Chips and white cause first. (Never done this before but our friend ordered one (condiment) cup of white sauce for each of us. If you like to double dip it may be worth I to get your own. The only complaint/neg comment was that the shrimp burrito with, you guessed it, white sauce had small shrimp in it. It used to be they were much meatier and I missed that. Thanks Miguel's!

Great Mexican restaurant with a nice ambiance. Complimentary chips and salsa are always nice, but they go an extra step and give you free queso too! Good taquitos and Fajita combo came out sizzling. Fast and attentive service. Great location right on the water in downtown San Diego.

I'm a First timer , definitely love the drinks I started out with mango chamoy margarita , very tasty and rich in taste . Amazing drink ! 10/10 Of course I got the side course of queso fundido with chips , and salsa . Delicious! My main dish was steak fajitas! Oh wow ! Outstanding! Love it 10/10 dish . Definitely recommend this place , friends and family guaranteed satisfied. Great service, very nice and welcoming. Very helpful on the menu . Friendly staff Clean environment! Inside and outside very taken care of . Definitely will be back soon . I ended with a Bloody Mary drink . Family loved it

    Welcome in !!!

I have to say this place on the weekends is usually really busy the earlier in the day you go the better. I even mentioned to my friends that I feel like people go. It's right on the water and they end up camping out or there's usually big parties taking up a lot of servers attention.. I do enjoy the food because they have lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options and vegan options so all of our group has the chance to enjoy a meal . The view is awesome and it will always look like there's not full, but these servers are very busy Enjoy the chips and white queso the salsa here is like a chipotle salsa and it's so good

Visiting from Houston - decided on Miguel's for our friends brunch - great choice. Great location - fabulous view - great menu and the waitstaff were super attentive. We were able to choose from the brunch or full menu. Didn't do the adult beverages since we were hitting the freeway - but definitely some good choices there too. Would definitely make this a repeat.

Honestly really solid and delicious food. Ordered the guacamole to start which was just okay - but the free salsa was really nice. Also got the three taco trio plate, carne asada taco plate and carne asada plate - all were pretty good and solid choices. Finished with the churros and they were they a little dense but not horrible.

Beautiful views, even at the bar. Free chips with salsa and queso dips. There's a floor to ceiling stack of Clase Azul tequila and chain chandeliers - very cool! And a window to the kitchen:) Great service and a wonderful experience! (You can also take your boat here, as they have a dock) The bartender August was really fun and attentive! We hope to see him next time we come :)

    Mango pineapple agua fresca

Miguel's Cocina was a great spot to grab dinner and watch the World Cup! The atmosphere was fun, the views were beautiful! Our server, Annalyssa, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made excellent recommendations--we trusted everything she suggested, and she didn't disappoint. The food was delicious. The complimentary chips, salsa, and house-made queso were the perfect way to start the meal. I had the Camarones a la Diabla, they were more of a smoky chipotle-style spice than an overly spicy dish, which I really enjoyed. If you're looking for more heat, ask for their habanero salsa. It was so flavorful and definitely worth trying. The chicharrón tacos were another standout. Don't expect crispy pork rinds--they're made with tender, meaty, soft chicharrón that was full of flavor. The house-made mango pineapple agua fresca was a must-try. They make their aguas frescas in-house and rotate the flavors seasonally, so it's worth seeing what they have each time you visit. Definitely going back for one more glass of that agua fresca!

Food was really mid for my tastes. The steak & chorizo lacked flavor, and the shrimp wasn't nearly as flavorful as it looked. My husband and I are super low maintenance, and the only thing we requested was hot sauce. Instead, the server brought us bland melted cheese and walked off so quickly that we didn't even have a chance to ask again. He didn't come back to check on us until we had to ask someone else to find him -- by that point, our plates had been cleared and our drinks were empty. The views and location are awesome, but there are so many better food spots in the area I'd recommend over Miguel's.

Came here for a bday dinner and did not disappoint. I was excited to have vegan flavorful option. I enjoyed the food and specifically handmade tortilla and the house salsa that came with the complimentary chips. Service was good. They provided a completely bday dessert.

Wonderful atmosphere and great food. It is paid parking so be prepared to pay the meter if you want to park in the front. I have been here a few times and always love it. The drinks are good and strong. My favorite here is the chamoy rim mango margarita. Let's not forget the unlimited chips and white cheese! Omg! I think I can just eat that all day! After my friends left, I dined solo on the patio to watch the sunset. It was gorgeous. Perfect with my drink and food. I ordered the trio burritos. 3 mini burritos- chile verde, carne, shrimp, side of rice. It was really delicious. Annalyssa was my server. She was very attentive and such a sweetheart. The ambience here is fun and lively. The open space and windows all around make it cozy. Who can complain about dining while looking out at the ocean. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. The prices are very decent and the service is always up to par.

Waiter was so good about constantly refilling my water cup lol I was super blessed!

I dined in here the other day and I just want to say how much I appreciate all the staff. Your hard work and attention to detail did not and does not go unnoticed! I know the restaurant industry is not easy by no means but you guys still showed me kindness and patience and that I am grateful for! The food was also on point in my opinion! The chips and salsa and that queso dip is fire I'll surely be back! Thanks for your service! Ambiance is also always nice of course :) Patio seating is amazing!

Spicy margarita. Could have used a tajin rim as well. 4/5

We got there and she told us to wait while our table is being set up. They ended up taking us to the upstairs room. They had to split the 2 tables to have a seat for us. They wanted us to sit at the table that is in close proximity of the walkway. I said I did not want to sit there because I did not want to have people walk by me the entire time. They had to push the table away from the second one and we had to be closer to the entrance. I said will sit at the second table since it's not near the entrance. I had to repeat this 3 times. She finally said ok, well, I will have to take you downstairs. I said ok. They finally sat us at a table with 2 chairs and out of the way. So, here is the thing.....why was I waiting, if my table was not being set up, to where you had to split 2 tables, and put me closest to the entry way of the door? 2. The lighting is very dark. It was hard to see the food to maneuver and eat. I get this is the ambiance. So...maybe brighter lamps at the table?

The fish was grilled to tender, paired with smooth avocado puree and fresh salsa--a rich and satisfying bite. But! The biggest surprise is the tortilla--it was on the softer side, yet surprisingly chewy. Smoked Fish Taco: A classic and San Diego signature dish. The fish was shredded into small pieces, giving it a smoky flavor and a slightly dry texture. The taste was nice, but you don't really feel the meat in bites, so it was slightly less impressive. Fish Ceviche: Marinated in lemon juice, the proteins denatured, making the fish appear white and fully cooked, but it still had a firm, raw texture. Completely different from other raw fish ceviche I've had. But! Incredibly tangy!!! The first bite was so tangy it was almost painful; it was only after being served as tapas with tostadas that I gradually got used to it. Lemon juice, tomato, and onion--it was easy to imagine the refreshing taste, while the rich aroma of avocado nicely balanced the harshness. Shrimp Ceviche: The shrimp appeared to be cooked; they weren't large but were quite fresh, with firm and tender meat. See above for other details. The restaurant is located in a small food court, with very limited parking and seating. It may be inconvenient for groups of four or more to dine in.

We left right away to pick up the food and sure enough it was ready waiting for our arrival. One quick drive back home to dig in and the aroma was so enticing. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco. That said, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this burrito. It's large, filling, but their sauce had an almost artificial red color to it. It's a small tack shop style place, made more for to-go orders. Service was fast and friendly. Their horchata is where they really lose a star, it's from a fountain and tastes like it, watered down artificial flavor. However you don't come here for the drinks, you come here for the large tasty California Burritos, hence the name. They've definitely won me over and I'll be back when in the area.
