After a long day, this ended up being exactly the kind of dinner I was hoping for. I ordered the Three Mini Burritos, and they absolutely delivered. "Mini" is a bit misleading--they're generously sized, and together they make for a seriously filling meal. Plenty of flavor, fresh ingredients, and the kind of plate that leaves you wondering if you really need to finish that last burrito... before doing it anyway. The timing couldn't have been better either. I was there around sunset, and the ambiance really elevated the experience. There's something about good Mexican food, a relaxing atmosphere, and the evening light that just works. I'll definitely be back. I came here to celebrate my daughter's graduation and I was happy that we were able to see the water from our seats! Since we were a large party, I didn't book far ahead enough to get a table that wasn't bar height. Nevertheless, the table we had was able to accommodate us all. The customer service was hit and miss since we had to constantly ask for the dips for the chips. We also were running out of water and we had to flag people down to get refills. Ive been to several Miguel's around San Diego, so I'm quite familiar with the menu. This time around, I got the grilled fish tacos. It came with beans and rice. Fish was seasoned well but overall the taco was just okay for me. Hard to compete with other great places in SD. Portions sizes are generous and I only got to eat just the tacos since the chips made me full! Gorgeous and a bit dark and well thought out decor all around. We waited about 30 minutes (they said it would be about 45. On point.) to be seated. Once seated everything was pretty normal but I couldn't stop looking at the ceiling (chain chandeliers). The food was great. I can never get over their white sauce. Chips and white cause first. (Never done this before but our friend ordered one (condiment) cup of white sauce for each of us. If you like to double dip it may be worth I to get your own. The only complaint/neg comment was that the shrimp burrito with, you guessed it, white sauce had small shrimp in it. It used to be they were much meatier and I missed that. Gorgeous, just gorgeous restaurant right by water. We were summoned inside by happy hour advertisement. How could some pass by $5 cutwater margaritas (or $8 craft ones?) We also got $5 massive fish tacos and shared calamari strips. For all of that we paid $35 with tax. Sometime you pay more just for the drinks. Needless to say water view is stunning being perfectly placed in the seaport village overlooking the bay. If not for happy hour, I think this could be an excellent date spot too! read more

I have to say this place on the weekends is usually really busy the earlier in the day you go the better. I even mentioned to my friends that I feel like people go. It's right on the water and they end up camping out or there's usually big parties taking up a lot of servers attention.. I do enjoy the food because they have lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options and vegan options so all of our group has the chance to enjoy a meal . Our server, Annalyssa, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made excellent recommendations--we trusted everything she suggested, and she didn't disappoint. The food was delicious. The complimentary chips, salsa, and house-made queso were the perfect way to start the meal. I had the Camarones a la Diabla, they were more of a smoky chipotle-style spice than an overly spicy dish, which I really enjoyed. If you're looking for more heat, ask for their habanero salsa. It was so flavorful and definitely worth trying. The chicharrón tacos were another standout. Don't expect crispy pork rinds--they're made with tender, meaty, soft chicharrón that was full of flavor. The house-made mango pineapple agua fresca was a must-try. They make their aguas frescas in-house and rotate the flavors seasonally, so it's worth seeing what they have each time you visit. Food was really mid for my tastes. The steak & chorizo lacked flavor, and the shrimp wasn't nearly as flavorful as it looked. My husband and I are super low maintenance, and the only thing we requested was hot sauce. Instead, the server brought us bland melted cheese and walked off so quickly that we didn't even have a chance to ask again. He didn't come back to check on us until we had to ask someone else to find him -- by that point, our plates had been cleared and our drinks were empty. I've only been to the Miguel's in Carlsbad so I was excited to see what this Miguel's had to offer! WHAT A VIEW!!! We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the bay! Service was good. We came here for dinner and had a good experience! We came on a Thursday night and they were busy but we did not need to wait long to be seated. At the same time we were coming in, some people had gotten stuck in the elevator and firefighters were actively trying to get the people out. So we had to wind up using valet because we could not get around the fire trucks to park. Valet was $25 and they were nice! We did request a high chair and was given an area where we could park our stroller. We did sit inside but we had a great view of the water and the sail boats. They have outside seating as well. They have many tables and long bar style tables. It did take a little long for someone to greet us and take our drink order and bring us chips and salsa. The chips and salsa also came with two queso dips. The salsa, chips and queso were all delicious! I ordered a skinny margarita and it was delicious! We ordered steak tacos and grilled swordfish tacos and both plates came with rice and beans. The tacos were okay but I did enjoy the rice and beans. That's such a win! i love when a restaurant goes beyond the basics. The chips were fresh, and the queso was addicting. For my main dish, I went with La Combinación del Jefe, and wow... so good and filling! Great flavors, good portions, and definitely worth ordering if you want a little bit of everything. Service started off strong...our server was attentive in the beginning. But as the meal went on, it was harder to get their attention. I usually don't like flagging people down, but we eventually had to raise our hands to get more water and our check, even though it wasn't busy (we went around 2p). Oh how I love Miguel's!! ANytime someone is in from out of town and the weather is nice, I always take them to Miguel's. The views are specataucal, the vibe is alwasys good, and the food is on point! I've brought both kids and adults and everyone has a good time. I've had a couple of not so great expereinces here, however management has always been able to take carfe of things. I loved this restaurant's view most especially because the weather was mid-spring nearing summer. Loooooved this restaurant! We were a party of 6 visiting from lot of town and they were able to get us seated within 10 minutes. Even from inside the view was gorgeous! Our server was so attentive and comped our dessert once he learned we were celebrating my birthday. My kids loved the chips and salsa (my 2 year old had a cup of it herself, haha!).
