When we first arrived at 11:20 the doors were locked. They open at 11:00. We were seated promptly and taken care of right away. The waitress brought out Ceviche for our table, which was tasty. We then ordered but found that the kitchen didn't have enough chicken and chorizo to make our meal. Again, they JUST opened. Anyways- we ordered carne asada, empanadas, elote and fish. Luckily they had enough of all that for us. Once we got our food (was quite a wait, about 40 minutes) everything was delicious. It did take a while to get flour tortillas but I didn't ask for them when ordering. Also took a while to get the bill when done. In total was an hour and a half lunch. read more

We've been here a few times. Service was always slow, but food was delicious. However, this last time we visited, food and service were both terrible. We ordered shrimp empanadas, pulpo zarandeado and charrola levanta muertos. Every single dish we ordered was extremely salty and very spicy to the point that we weren't able to enjoy our dinner. Unfortunately, we will not be patronizing this restaurant any longer. read more

We decided to try this place for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. I've tried other marisco restaurants in the city so I was curious to see how this one would compare. I was not disappointed. I ordered thre stuffed pineapple dinner for $24. That's a bit higher than other restaurants but it was a fair price cause the pineapple was huge and completely stuffed and cheesy. It had great flavor. My girlfriend ordered the garlic shrimp dinner and she loved it. The garlic was nice and strong. She loves garlic so she can't wait to come back. I'm happy this placed opened up in our suburb. The location is great and they have ample parking spaces. The service was wonderful too. Our waitress was quick and attentive. She was helpful too with the questions we had about the menu. 5 stars across the board. Very pleasant experience. We will be back for sure. read more

Made the unfortunate decision to order curb side pick up. Where they advertise they bring the food to the car. Due to a disability, its difficult to get in and out, the person processing my order refused to bring the food to my car in their waiting lot. Insisting he stand at the door and I come get it. They were extremely rude and unprofessional, it didn't help that the food was way too salty to be eaten. Horrible service and horrible food....will never support this establishment again. read more

Too many tables lead to overly cramped seating when busy ( which it was busy ). Screaming over the top hot habanero salsa ( and I like bdubs mango habanero sauce on wings for comparison) Food is good but overly pricey, leading me to call the food just competent for the spend. Ceviche is overly chopped, I suspect a food processor at work vs a real cook making it. House lime margaritas are an exercise on how much ice they can fit into a lowball to give you as little margarita as possible for $10 ea. Adding insult to injury what Margarita you do get is weak as it hits the table even before ice melt and the mix used is also meh. Kids quesadilla for our little one the cheese wasn't even fully melted. Tonight they had a mariachi duo singing along to no vocal tracks over the house sound system at ear splitting volume levels. Nothing like a cramped seat, talking at a moderate yell, and paying a premium for your trouble. Place could be great, but as of tonight they missed the mark. FYI - referencing the db report pic I attached from my app says hearing protection be required at those exposure levels. It's a real hazard to the staff long term for sure. Stopped in for dinner, sat at the bar top with a few friends and we were not disappointed. The margaritas were perfect and the micheladas were so tasty! The bartenders Ariana and Omar were very helpful with the menu and provided excellent suggestions. The langostinos were packed with flavor and the carne asada was tender and perfectly prepared. The manager Fernando made sure our experience was nothing short of incredible. Will definitely return to try more drinks! read more

This place is legit! So glad I found it. Me and my husband love a Mariscos spot in the city and haven't found a restaurant out here that has come close. We have found it! This place was surprising. It's on the outskirts of a mall. So parking is no problem. Price was reasonable. I ordered fried fish. I was expecting a small piece, but they brought out a platter of food, including fries, salad, rice, garlic bread and a big filet of fish. With COVID still going, we seated outside under a tent. It was fine until Mother Nature brought the rain. Service was pretty quick. They are working of a limited menu because of COVID but once COVID is done and gone.....I. But when I got my bill and see the 18% imposed on my bill as gratuity it made me reconsider my entire meal. I usually leave 18% by my own will anyway but the fact that it's imposed is insulting (4 person party by the way) Overall the asada plate was soft meat with flavorless seasoning I ordered the shrimp al ajillo which were actually good but a dressing-less salad My husband ordered Nayarit style which were bland and overall lacking flavor The empanadas, the shrimp were flavored very well but the dough was raw! The drinks were not impressive at all, nothing to do with the pictures! I ordered the guavecito and I forced myself to drink it bc it was $11 or $12 I would hate to see this place fail, I think they are in an excellent location but if they don't lower the prices or at the very least not impose gratuity and improve their food I don't foresee this going very far. And I say this with my best intentions I hope reviews are taken into consideration and that you improve to fit the neighborhood and the people that are desperate for good food and a decent price. 1 Star? Here's why. It's a long story here. A very -- upsetting unprofessional experience -- long story. **Pro tips! CHECK your order and food before you pay.** In short, we called in the order, arrived and found out that one of our orders was wrong, we were wrongly accused of being at fault for the mistake, something so small could have been easily resolved but they escalated the issue to a bigger problem, so we were not satisfied with the service and had to fight for a full refund. Fortunately we got a refund however we had an unfortunate experience. We've been here countless of time in the past 5 years, this was our last straw. We'll be going to Chicago for a better service and tasteful experience.) Here's what went down... this time. We ordered over the phone already knowing what to order AND we even read off the menu. We ordered 3 pricey dishes, one being the 'Camarones Cucarachas'. I paid first, then checked the dishes to make sure they were correct, but the "Dish A" - 'Camarones Cucarachas' wasn't there. They gave us the "Dish B" - 'Platillo de Camarones', so we go inside and mentioned to the lady in front who checked us out, (she was nice) but we told her how we ordered Dish A and not Dish B and asked if they can please make Dish A for us, we will pay and we'll give Dish B back or whatever can be done. She kindly went back to voice this to an older lady, (appeared to be a lead/manager), (this, happened 3 times where she was being sent back and forth. ) check this out, so the first time she came back to tell us what the lead said, "you guys messed up the order, we can't do anything about your mistake", wow, we couldn't believe that response. But how did we mess up if we read off the menu? We asked nicely, again, "no we read it off the menu, so please give us the refund, keep the Dish B and we'll pay for Dish A." So again she goes, then the older lady give us a mean look, (we don't create scenes or problems, just give me food and I'm out lol). So the nice lady comes back for te 2nd time says "they said you made the mistake it's your fault so no refund but they can make the other dish you'll have to pay for that". Again we expressed how absurd that is and what we said earlier and to speak with her directly to avoid having so much back and forth. So she goes and we waited for the older lady to come. She come up to us and the first thing she says to us (in Spanish) "Dime. Dime!?" In English, "Tell me. Tell me!?" yo what is wrong with you? Who are you to talk to customers like this? I'm a customer, actually, we were your customers. We weren't even giving her a hard time. That was it for us, we demanded to give us a full refund bc this service was horrendous, a minor mistake of making the wrong dish, could have been resolved easily, instead you make this a bigger issue by saying we messed up, and no refund, on top of that, addressing us rudely. This lady is unprofessional, she tried crying to me talking me all these excuses of why it happened, ok but you gave us a bad impression so I don't care, secondly it doesn't fix the issue, own up to the mistakes of your a "manager". She needs to leave, poor employees, they need a better manager. read more

The menu selection looks absolutely delicious but there were a number of issues with our food. I'll start by saying the empanadas were delicious and absolutely fresh but it was downhill from there. The seafood was extremely dry but the server claimed it was cooked to order. Impossible because it came to the table five minutes after ordering. The prawns were small and I couldn't tell the difference between them and regular shrimp. The mussels were rubbery. The steak fajita was mediocre at best. Waste of time and money. The waiter didn't care that we didn't enjoy the food. I'll never go back. Oh did I mention our bill was too high and I watched them dip water from a bucket. read more

We decided to try this new restaurant in Bolingbrook for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. The atmosphere was nice and bright. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. We tried the Ceviche roll and were pleasantly surprised at how flavorful it was as well as the fact that it contained a generous portion of food for the price. We then ordered the Levanta Muertos to share. It came in a large aluminum bowl and was filled with all kinds of marvelously prepared crab legs, shrimp, mussels, clams and octopus in a very flavorful house sauce. It was delicious. It was also more than we could eat. At $55, we thought it was a deal compared to most similar seafood dishes at other restaurants. All in all, Perla Negra was a very pleasant surprise for a new restaurant in Bolingbrook. read more

We were wondering why it was in this giant metal tray (for only 2 people), but it was because it was displayed as shown on the website. It was very good & flavorful. I saw that they posted on Instagram that they were open at 11am and I called the restaurant around 7:30p on 6/30/20 asking what time they opened on Wednesday July 1st and the young lady said 11am. Given that their social media and hostess stated that that they opened at 11am, my friends and I showed up at 12:30p on 7/1 and the restaurant was not open. There was no one there, no cars parked outside, no movement inside, nothing. I'm just super confused as to why you would advertise an open time and your hostess confirm it, but yet you weren't open. Decided to try this place with the family several weeks ago. We ordered some loaded fries which were aaaaamaZing! For our actual dinner with ordered the Huachinango and Piña rellena. Both very tasty.
