Just a no frills classic donut shop not trying to be anything that they aren't, which is hard to find in a fancy donut city like Portland. So often apple fritters are fluffy and lack and crisp. There's is downright crunchy with the perfect fluff inside. 10/10. The breakfast burritos are nothing fancy, but they have the hashbrown/egg/cheese/meat balance down to a science. Only criticism is I think their salsa could use some work, but there are plenty of store bought hot sauces to supplement and the burrito is good on its own! Lastly, the service is just so friendly and attentive. 5 minute wait for a fresh to order breakfast burrito. Decided to check this place out on my most recent trip to Portland, and honestly... wow. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in the city, all thanks to the incredibly rude woman working behind the counter. I showed up around 6:30am. There were maybe three customers total, so it wasn't busy at all. Yet I watched her full-on berate every person in front of me. One woman wasn't stirring her coffee fast enough and got hit with: "Are you going to finish!?" "You took the oat milk away." "Oh well I GUESS I'M FASTER THAN YOU!" Like... hello?? Then it was my turn. She started mumbling something behind the counter while putting two apple fritters (which I ordered) into a box. I thought I'd be polite and asked her to repeat herself, thinking the question was about my order . She scowled at me and snapped: "ARE YOU JORGE!?" "No, I thought you had a question about my order." "NO. I ONLY WORK HERE." Then continues on a long rant, much of it mumbling, scowling the entire time. Her miserable attitude left a worse taste in my mouth than the donuts did , and the donuts were mid at best, as you can see from the photo. Portland has amazing donut spots. This ain't one of them. I was helping my boyfriend do door dash orders and asked her if everything was in the bag because door dash makes you confirm every single item to make sure it's all available and they will be receiving it. The owner was offended I was showing her my phone to confirm all items are in there , and proceeds to yell at me saying I only have a job because of her, as if there aren't thousands of places we get orders from in the city of portland... Also, while waiting in line to be helped there was a woman pouring creamer into her coffee and I guess the owner needed the creamer for something and told the customer "you need to pour faster" while yelling at a black man to get out of her shop because he appeared homeless even though he had money in his hand waiting to buy a coffee from her :( I understand some people have caught her on a "good" day but treating everyone that's purchasing from you and keeping your business going like that is garbage. Also when you've worked in customer service long enough, you can catch the fakeness from other employees, but I'd be miserable too if that was my boss. read more

Too bad these are the best donuts in the state. Too bad the people who own the place, and seemingly everyone they hire (most of whom tend to stay for years!) are uniformly delightful. Odd how they appear to treat all their customers, from the big spenders in fancy cars, to people counting out pennies and nickels to pay, with kindness, patience, and respect. Strange how the most basic cake donuts are straight up perfect, and things just improve from there. Special props to the apple fritters; as terrific as everything else is, these are fully perfect. And luckily, they hold up well in the paper bag, so I can order (and eat) an ideal maple bar, drive to the wilderness, and hike the necessary fifteen miles to justify the caloric hit. And luckily, they're closed for a couple of days each week, so I am able to accomplish other things besides waiting in line to buy donuts. I've been here twice. My first visit, I was lectured by a lady on how to order a donut. She kept repeating how she has worked in this industry for 30 years and knows what she is talking about. The problem arose when I requested two glazed donuts and two chocolate frosted glazed donuts. She refused to understand what I was trying to order even as I pointed to them behind the glass. Apparently, her goal that day was to lecture me on how to order donuts in her shop. I got a viet coffee (strong and delicious), Jaedan's breakfast sandwich with sausage and bacon, and half dozen of donuts, which came out to $28.50 after tipping. I loved the wife's personality because she was keeping the best and goofy attitude with a line of customers. Some may think differently, but we have to keep in mind that it's a small business and not a corporation, so whatever they want the environment to be is what it is! I am obsessed with the breakfast sandwich because it was LOADED. I'm a sucker for cheese bagels and breakfast, so 20/10 on my rating. It was also sweet knowing she named the sandwich after one of her children. Parking is small and shared with plaid pantry so if it gets full, you may have to defer to street parking. read more

GET THE APPLE FRITTER. Delicious Donuts is a mom and pop shop located on the east side. It seems unassuming, but the locals know that this is where the good donuts live. The apple fritter was voted multiple times to be one of the best in Portland, and I could not agree more. It's crunchy, perfectly sweet, and fresh. You know by the taste that they were fried fresh that morning when you get them. All of their other specials are equally as good. It was humongous and mouth watering delicious. The owners are husband and wife and if I recall correctly, high school sweet hearts. They pour their heart into what they make and are friendly and welcoming. The woman shared how she came up with bad grandpa (he had a major sweet tooth) and the bad grandma donut (who had an even bigger sweet tooth!). They also had Asian inspired flavors - pandam, lemongrass, etc. I wish we could have tried them all. Next time we are in Portland, we're ordering a dozen and will just have to hit the trails harder. What a special treat visiting Delicious Donuts! On my venture around Portland for Donut Day, this place was highly reviewed so had to stop in and check it out! Delicious Donuts is next to a Plaid Pantry, in a small parking lot area- I lucked out and scored one of the up close spots. A lot of people ride bikes and walk / take the bus in this area, but the parking lot was crowded! Due to covid, only take-out, and the line was spaced 6ft, making it out the door, but it relatively went quickly! I visited around 10am, and majority of their selection were gone! Dang, but I did get a matcha flavor cake donut, and a cookies n cream donut! Both were delicious! The best part? They were handing out free shirts! I grabbed one and told B and he went in and got another cookies n cream donut, and a shirt. What a special extra! And super fun shirts that we wear all the time, lol. I looked up their website and it's a couple who started the shop back in 2005, and wow, what a place it's turned in to! Really great back story and happy I went to support! I was looking for a donut place that has my favorite donut, an apple fritter.  That led me to Delicious Donuts. Well let me tell you, mission accomplished! Their apple fritter, while quite possibly being the biggest apple fritter I have ever seen, could also be the tastiest apple fritter that I've ever had. No disrespect to any other donut places that I have visited, this was just one darn good apple fritter! Their apple fritter had all the aspects that I love about a good apple fritter. Crispy on the outside with those apples and cinnamon on the inside. Most good apple fritters have these aspects, this one was just darn good. We also picked up my second favorite donut which is a classic glazed old fashioned and then some coconut bun. The old fashioned was just as it should be. Crispy edges. Excellent donuts here.
