So I've been to this place 3 times. If I had written a review after each time, I would have given it 5 stars. But it's now been exactly a week after my last visit and sadly, I only give it one star. The reason is...of the 6 of us that went last weekend, 5 of us got food poisoning. We think it was probably the oyster shots since the 6th person didn't have one. Yeah, the food was delicious and the drinks were great. But none of that makes up for the miserable week we've all had. I don't want to deter you from checking out this place, but just be aware. And especially if you're considering oysters. I myself was violently sick and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I hope the owners check that out and take it into consideration. read more

Amazing food! I had the Cokteloko, it's a shrimp cocktail with papas lokas, and it was amazingly delicious! My husband and son shared the piña marisquera, and my 12-year-old said it was one of the best dishes he has ever had. They have coconut drinks, micheladas, and so much more! It's downtown, with not the best air-conditioning but the food makes it worth it. read more

This was our first time visiting and it was surprisingly a small place. We waited out in the common area for approximately 40 minuets before they sat us down. They could easily have a larger space. Overall the food was was good and pleasing to the eyes. We had the Borachos which consisted of a six pack of beer topped with shrimp and papas locas and other stuff towards the bottom of the dish. We were a party of 3 and did not finish because were all stuffed. The downside of the place is the size and wait time, but we would visit again. read more

I saw on their old menu the beef jerky preparado, although they don't carry it anymore they were nice enough to still prepare it for me! Props for that because in reality that's all I was going there for. I decided to also order the shrimp tacos to go. And they were also delish!!! They have beer if u'd like and some weird Spanish drinks that I didn't want so I drank water which was fine. Every week my husband and I would go visit Coco loco for their taco Tuesday special. They recently added octopus to the taco special and that quickly became my favorite one. I used to go to the original location near downtown and I have noticed some differences from the old location and the new location. Since the owner isn't around the restaurant as much as he originally was in the downtown location. The servers and cooks can become a little bit more lenient in their behavior and stay on the phone and listen to their own music. The taco spicy sauce that came with the tacos sometimes would be watery and sometimes would be thicker. So in the new location I've seen a little inconsistency with the food. But overall for the price of the tacos, typically freshness of ingredients and deliciousness I would go back. Highly recommend to management getting new plates and serving cups for ceviches, etc. to class it up. read more

First off, I'm a tourist in El Paso. I guess I look it because the owner came over and asked how we found this place. He was very nice, and all of the staff were friendly. I disagree about the language barrier that some reviews have posted. What the other reviewers got right is how unique the atmosphere is. Very unusual, I go to many Mexican restaurants (I'm from California) but this one definitely felt like I was in a different country. Whole different vibe. The food was fantastic. The papas lokas is a great combination of fresh fried potato chips, vegetables, seafood, avocado and Japanese peanuts. (I may have missed something). I loved it. I'm sure I'll be craving it when I go back to California. We also had the tower of seafood. It's wonderful, as well.
