My experience here was very poor. I had gel polish on already, and the tech soaked it a bit, then scraped every nail to remove it. She was a bit rude and not very personable. I wanted another gel French. She used a glittery base coat (did not ask me before hand) sand though many layers were applied, my nails still feel thin and brittle. One nail already chipped and another is very crooked. I went with my kids on a weekday morning. My daughter had a good experience, but my son's pedicure was 10 minutes TOPS. read more

Of all the NAIL salons in Fairfield/Westport - they are good. I prefer the Fairfield location but have gone to the Stamford & Westport salons too. They dont rush you. They do a thorough job. Its CLEAN every time. Its usually packed so be prepared to wait. I ONLY get mani/pedi & have natural nails. They offer a variety of current/ traditional nail enamel by Essie & OPI. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT COME HERE! I wish I could give 0 stars... I walked in and asked for an acrylic french manicure with a little white line underneath, pretty straight forward I would say. Starting out the nail tech didn't even lay the acrylic, she dipped my finger into it (I know this is a technique, but not what i asked for) and when i tried to stop her she said "well its the same thing." The shaping of the nails was completely NOT what I asked for and when i asked her to fix it, she said she'd fix it once she filed at the end (spoil alert, she did not). Once the white was being painted on the tips, she was very shaky and the lines were all crooked and when I asked her to clean it up, she said yes and then didn't. When she was done she asked for... $95!!!!!!! $95 for a horrible job of something I did not ask for that i had to fix myself when I got home... I've been coming here for several years. What keeps me coming back is the cleanliness, the perfect gel manicures and the shoulder / neck massage they give while your nails/toes dry or while they're doing the gel manis. Unfortunately, the massage doesn't always happen. I usually look around until someone catches my eye and realizes what I am looking for and comes over to offer one. James is really good with the gel manicures. He is thorough and neat in his work and makes sure there is no dust, bumps or bubbles. The pedicures I've gotten have been very quick - good if you're in a rush but when I want to relax, it's disappointing. I wish it was always longer and if I needed to be out sooner, I could let them know before they start. I would recommend making an appointment. They can get really busy, especially on the weekends. I've had to wait before even with an appointment - it was an additional 20-30 min wait. The girl at the front desk could tell I was disappointed and she offered me a $5 discount on a future service. There are probably cheaper places in the area but cleanliness is my most important attribute when finding a nail salon. Also: They do not allow tip to be charged to a credit card - bring cash! They have an ATM on site if you need it but of course there are ATM fees. read more

I should have read the reviews before I went here yesterday. Mea culpa. I wanted a French manicure. To get one, I had to wait about half an hour (at about 2:30pm on a Friday). As I waited, another person who had been waiting and was partially into her gel manicure had to leave, so it seems like the wait times were very high and they were losing customers. Finally, the hostess (I'm not sure this is the right term) takes me to a seat to remove my old polish and shape my nails and put the oil on my nail beds. She did fine, but the implements were not new from a sanitization package - she just dipped them in barbicide for a few seconds. The woman she got to do my manicure, "Annie," is another story entirely. "Annie" starts putting lotion on my hands and then makes a disgusted noise and tells me to wash my hands. I believe she didn't realize the oil was still there. While my back was turned to her at the sink, she takes my purse and moved seats. I'm not entirely sure why we had to move, but it made me a little uncomfortable to have someone take my personal belongings without telling me. She tells me the manicure is $18, so I hand her my card. Note that apparently they do NOT take card. Legally, I believe they can only set a $10 minimum. They have an ATM in-store that charged about $1 per transaction. She begins the manicure by pulling out the white tip polish and starts to put it on. I ask if they don't do the pink polish first and she, looking quite put-upon, gets it from her drawer. She does one sloppy and uneven coat. She put the white polish on one nail, scowling all the way, asks if I like the thickness of the line and proceeds to do the rest of my nails. I'm not sure why she asked, as the thickness was different on each nail. "Annie" asked if I wanted clear polish on top or pink. I opted for clear as I was hoping it would be a quick dry top coat and I was already running late. She finished and I let my nails dry. The nail dryers don't all work. Of the 10 or so, about 4 were working. People had to move around a bunch. I gave "Annie" a small tip, though I shouldn't have bothered. I had a leftover enveloped and put it in there for her - when I went over and said, "This is for you," she replied, "What is that?" Maybe she knew what a terrible job she did, but it was a very strange question. When I left, I noticed that "Annie" had gotten white streaks from the tips all over the bed of my nails when she put the top coat on, and she got polish in my cuticles and on my skin underneath my nail. By the time I left, I had been in the nail salon for well over an hour and was running late for an event, but if I had the time I would have gone back to complain. The space is gorgeous, but I will never go back again and I will caution others to stay away, as well. It is both unsanitary and incompetent. read more

Coco Spa in Fairfield is my absolute favorite nail salon, hands down (ha!). Most noteworthy about this place is that it is super clean. The salon itself is spotless, with bright lighting, and clean, neutral decor, and more importantly, all of their tools come fresh out of packaging for each client. The nail technicians are friendly, but fast and efficient, which I appreciate. When I treat myself to a mani/pedi I always choose Coco Spa. Not sure if Coco Spa in Stamford is affiliated, with the Fairfield location, but I was not impressed. The nail technicians were all very sweet and friendly, but the salon was not an atmosphere where I felt I could relax. I am fairly new to the area and I went to 3 or 4 nail salons before deciding that I would stick to Coco as my nail spot. I never had a problem there and always liked my manicures and pedicures and the staff was always friendly. I went in today, on a low key holiday (Presidents Day) for a manicure. I was sore from the gym so I decided to splurge and get the Paraffin Manicure which was described as dipping your hands in hot wax and then sticking them in warm gloves while simultaneously getting a complimentary back massage. All I really wanted was a manicure, but like I said I was sore and reeeeally wanted a back massage. As I was getting my nails done, more customers kept coming in and the wait was getting longer for others. When my paraffin wax was on and my hands were placed in the warm gloves, I sat up a little straighter, waiting for my massage. Carol, my manicurist LEFT the manicure table without saying anything for about 6 or 8 minutes while my hands were in the gloves... I thought oh...maybe they do it when my nails are drying. My friend came over while I was just sitting there (without a massage or any idea of when Carol would come back) and sat down next to me, When Carol finally did return, she did my nails and did a great job. My friend said right in front of the manicurist "Did you get your back rub yet?" I said "No, they must do it while Im drying" When my nails were drying I, again, sat up a little straighter waiting for my massage. NOPE. She left AGAIN. This time to start another customer. Apparently that was it. End of service. Now, I'm not a complainer, but this was really rude. Ive been a manager at a hair salon for about 2 and a half years. I know customer service and that was a HORRIBLE example. I dont CARE if youre busy, YOU DONT advertise something as part of your PAID services and then just walk away. It was less about the massage and more about the AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I know all about the "Silent Customer"... The silent customer is the one who doesnt say anything when they receive poor service but NEVER comes back and then tells all their friends. I am giving it 2 stars solely on appearance. My pedicure was about 20 minutes long. Nothing remarkable and not very friendly. Barely a calf massage. No massage while drying. I should have read the reviews before I went. This is not my normal place, but traffic was horrible so I went here on my way home. They close at 7, I got there a little before 6 and they immediately acted like I was inconveniencing them for even coming. I had James who (I will say did a great job on my nails) but was rude. He was huffing and puffing, not trying to hide the fact that he did not want me there. He then got upset with me when he realized he was taking off powder gel and not regular gel. I hadn't realized I needed to specify what kind of gel he was taking off as it had been my first time getting the powder the time before. He made me feel stupid and agaiiiinnn very unwelcome. He was rough with my hands and unfriendly. I would give this place no stars if I could. I live in N.Y.and needed an emergency pedicure. Can I just say this place is the biggest ripoff and unimpressive. I went here bc of the reviews...I guess you girls don't understand what you're missing. $26 for a pedicure is a disgrace. I at least thought I'd get a quality message rather than a two second leg rub, with no pressure. $15 on long island gets you a better pedicure with a ten minute foot message included. Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY GOING TO THIS NAIL SALON!!! I made the mistake of going there. I asked for a 60$ pedicure expecting them to at least put some effort into it. The girl did a terrible job and barely knew what she was doing. I was so annoyed the entire time. Then after that I sat at the drying table and a woman came over to give me a "free massage" when i went to the register to pay they charged my card 85$ without even telling me that they were charging me 15$ extra for the AWFUL MASSAGE I got. I left there so annoyed and they were so rude on top of it. I felt like I had been hussled!!! I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN and would advise anyone else not to go there either. The woman doing my toe nails was OK but very hard to understand, she did an OK job. But the woman cutting my GF's toe nails was horrible, she actually cut her toe. I think she was new and not very experienced. I know new people need to learn but they should be learning on the other employees and not on paying customers. If I could give this place negative stars... I would. The water was freezing cold for my pedicure and when I told the woman she said "..it's okay". She took no skin off my feet, didn't touch my cuticles and didn't paint all the way down. She did my manicure next which came out absolutely horrendous and when I spoke up she told me "it's fine". She didn't push my cuticles nor did she get the skin around the nail. She sat me down to dry and put my phone inside my sneaker and when I asked if she could put it on the table she ignored me. The place was a disgusting filthy mess. The man who I was assigned to not only smelled, but his shirt was filthy dirty. Looking around I noticed that only one person had a clean shirt on. Then came the ultimate sight, other people's clipped nails. I was gagging. Couldn't wait to leave. The board of health needs to visit this place and quickly.
