Not sure what to think of this place beforehand because I am not familiar with Cuban food as much as other foods. This place definitely provides different and tasty dishes. At the family event they provided fish, chicken, shredded beef, and rice and salad. The food that knocked it out of the park was their Ceviche. It was so good accompanied with chips. Came here for a wedding reception. The food was pretty decent Cuban food, although I still prefer Versailles over this place. I really liked their rice with black beans in it - had a nice flavor, but wasn't too strong. The dance floor was decently large and overall, the venue seemed fairly clean, albeit a little outdated. There are some pretty waterfalls and the location seems kind of secluded, which is nice and romantic. The parking situation really stinks here - you hafta pay at least $5 just to park and the lot is structured really oddly, so you gotta really navigate your way out! Eek! read more

I've taken a few of my friends and some of their parents here a couple of times and all of them loved this place. The 6 times that I've been here were for dinner because of the view and atmosphere. However, I've heard great things about their Sunday buffet brunch from a friend but have yet tried it out myself. For appetizer, I would suggest the calamari, it's a good price for a big portion. Oh, and go for the paella Valenciana! It takes about 20-25 minutes to prep so it may be a good idea to ask the server to put that order in first along with the drink orders. These two dishes are what I usually get along with the iced tea. I've also tried their fish which was their special at the time but I wasn't too impressed. Appreciate how staff and management makes an effort to satisfy customers. We had a pleasant dinner experience. Love their complementary garlic bread and bean dip. Each dish is huge and presentation very appealing. Quality of ingredients is good. A little heavy on the salt, but I guess that's why they give half a lemon on the side. RSVP'd for 8 on a Friday night. There was a huge gathering for a college graduation which made me want to leave right then and there since I figured service would be a bit hindered. I didn't want to bother trying to find another venue, esp after we all HAD to valet our cars (just fyi, it is a mandatory valet) so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to think positive. The service was really, really slow. We had one waitress and a helper covering the entire room (the restaurant is sort of sectioned). 1-star rating alone on follow-up and attentiveness of our waitress. Garlic bread and the spread (some sort of mashed black bean, I think) was good to keep us busy before they came by to take orders. Their Paellas are MEDIOCRE at best. We ordered both the Paella Valenciana and the Paella Marinera (more seafood) and both were equally unsatisfactory. Also, the Paella Valenciana was way too salty. Their Arroz con Pollo a la Chorrera is just "ok". The ox-tail special also was just so-so. The lobster bisque and their lentil soup were pretty decent though. Why the 1-star rating? Here's the main reason why. We ordered 3 of their "specials" - Chilean Seabass with mango miso sauce; 2 of the 3 had an odor to them. I've had Chilean Seabass many, many times - it's hands down one of my favorite fishes to enjoy. I was sordidly disappointed with what they brought out. It completely ruined my appetite. The waitress, after taking the fish back, came by to mention that the chef insisted that the fish was fine, but here's why I really am giving this place a 1-star rating - THE FISH WAS NOT FRESH. It was really upsetting that the restaurant questioned why we sent back 2 of the plates; I literally took one bite of the dish and sent it back. What makes me annoyed is that I'm really pretty good about places that serve mediocre food. I think it was just the overall attitude and level of service this place provided that lent itself as one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a very long time. Again, each and every visit was truly the best service. Our last experience: We asked to be seated by the window, and all the window seats were taken. They said, we can take an open table they had, close to the window and once one was available, we can move. So, we moved, and since it was summer time, it was nice a hot... I decided to sit at the balcony. They moved us again, 2nd time. BIG MISTAKE! Since it was summer, it was way too hot outdoors. Immediately I wanted to go back in. I think they spoiled us there before, so without hesitation, they moved us again, 3rd time. I felt really bad, but the heat was unbearable. I know at other locations, when u are so picky and always ask to move, they would get annoyed and not be so friendly. However, these guys at Coco Palms were super nice about it. Usually, I'm not too picky, and always ask for a booth if available. Anyway, this restaurant has the most amazing ambiance, and service. Their Friday nights are so much fun! For $10 you get a simple lesson followed by live salsa music...and the best mojito I've ever bought. 4. I had my wedding here and also attended a friend's wedding here. Unfortunately my friend had a shower booked in the same room before her that ran long and ended up pushing her wedding nearly an hour late, I was famished by the time they finally served the meal. Flavor was right on point, except for their moros (red beans instead of black?) and the ceviche (bland). They also have American style breakfast food & serve paella. Very disappointed. Came here yesterday with co workers for a birthday luncheon. We were their first reservation booked for as soon as they opened (11am). We sat at a long table and immediately should have left. My co worker used her cloth napkin and killed a small bug that was on the tablecloth. Our long banquet table had a dirty plate and food underneath the table. The table next to us had a dirty cloth napkin j Dee the flower. It looked as if they had not cleaned the night before. The restaurant also had a very stale smell. These issues were brought up to the manager who only apologized and thanked us for not making a scene when complaining because others had came in to eat. I have been here in the past for their salsa night and a wedding but never to dine and even then it was a great time. But this place is ideal for a romantic evening out on the town with your love. When you walk in there are exotic birds, a beautiful waterfall and warm welcome. Our waiter was very pleasant, prompt and polite. I had wine with a lobster tail and my husband had the same. It was rich with flavor. From the appetizer to the soup and salad, main dish and Desert. Everything was delicious. My husband called in for reservations a few days prior letting them know we were celebrating our anniversary so they served us desert at the end of our meal with a Happy Anniversary message on the plate, A small sweet touch. Literally the best Brunch I've ever been to! The only reason I didn't give it the full five stars is because the waitress acted as if she had a problem bringing our group drinks or whatever else we needed. I feel since we spent well over $400 there, the least she could have done was be more polite and not act like it wasn't her job to serve us. I went with a group of eleven for my mother's 70th birthday celebration. We all enjoyed the food soo much. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. My favorite dish was the ox tails. My fiance and I came here to get information on having our wedding here and I was amazed. I've passed by this place plenty of times on my way home and always wondered if it was as nice inside as it was outside. I came with one of my maid of honors and we were given a short tour of the place. I didn't want to see anymore without my fiance there so that i could convince him to have our wedding here lol. One of the event coordinators, oh i cant remember his name (i'm really bad at names lol, i believe it was Rick) helped us and showed us EVERYTHING!!! The bridal suite, the different spots for the ceremony and the different rooms and they have all sorts of packages for the wedding reception! They go through all the payments and even work with you on a price that you can afford. they want to make sure that your wedding day is the one of your dreams!!!! Food is amazing!! The service is superb. Our waiter was attentive and efficient. Went here for a late lunch on Valentines Day, so of course we had to make a reservation a week ahead of time. But the wait was worth it. We tried the plantains for starters, marinated pork and grilled chicken for entrees and finished off the meal with flan and the rice pudding. All of it was phenomenal! The setups were beautiful, the food was delicious and Tony and the rest of the staff were very attentive and helpful! Tony and the girls took care of all our needs and helped us plan the perfect day all the way down to finding the right linen combinations for the tables! We found CocoPalms on our way to the fair in September of 2011 and after trying their Salsa Club and appetizers one Friday night we were hooked! We even had the house DJ do our wedding. Not what it used to be. I came here a couple years ago same time in early December and there were lots of Christmas decorations and the service was exceptional, the food was phenomenal. Come to find out through our waitress who was new that it has been under new management. I'm not Cuban but even I know every Cuban dish come with a side of black beans. Well my Pollo Fricase arrived late and Luke warm with no side of black beans. All n all the food was a strong 7 out of 10. Service was a weak 6 out of 10. Had my wedding here on July 1, 2012 and it was perfect. The staff service was excellent, the food was so good everyone cleaned their plates (selected the ropa vieja) My husband and I had the tomahawk chop as our meal and everyone loved the presentation of the meal. Bonus was the option to select Portos for our cake, we chose the cuban cake. We had the smaller Bolero room and it was just right for all of us, everyone loved the patio. Went here for a birthday party and a rather large group was in tow. The setting is very nice and great views from the patio, which is where we sat. Considering we had twenty or so people, the service was pretty spot on and the waiter was friendly. Food was great and though on the pricier side, worth it. Drinks, ah yes, how could I forget to rate the drinks. They were not poured with a heavy hand, but I don't think the average drinker would complain. And no, I am not an average drinker. There are two dance floors at this place and one was exclusively Salsa music/dancing. The downer is you still have to pay a cover charge EVEN if you just spent $1000 on your restaurant bill. Huh? How about making an agreement between the club and restaurant? Anywho, I'm no Fred Astaire, hell I'm not even Fred Mertz, so I passed on the dancing and hit my local bar. The others who did go told me that they liked the music and had no issues with staying until closing. Because of the size of the group, we had the entire deck to ourselves for dancing, mingling, etc. The biggest downfall to this restaurant's outside seating is the interstate within earshot. It made it really hard to hear what was going on. At least the view was decent...well as decent a view you can get in Pomona. The food left a lot to be desired. The drinks are weak. And the bathrooms intended for those sitting outside are a joke. I have used better restrooms in state parks. This place needs a serious makeover. Probably the worst part of the night was when a friend and I ordered a couple of drinks. Me, a Sapphire and tonic; my friend, vodka and tonic. She watched in disbelief as the bartender poured two Tanqueray and tonics, then said "that'll be $18". My friend called the bartender out on it, and he flat denied it. We had to get another employee to come over and straighten the bartender out, and we finally got the correct drinks. Oh yeah, as opposed to apologizing, or comping the drinks, the bartender slammed our weak drinks on the counter and said "eighteen". Please, please, please reconsider if you are thinking of going here. I am sure you could have a descent evening there.
