This place is going downhill fast. I used to think the cookies were really gourmet... even rivaling Batch and Box. But today my cookie tasted no better than Otis Spunkmeyer. The sign and logo give the appearance of a hip cookie and coffee place but when you pull up, the place is trashed with stickers, signs and dirty windows and looks super junkie. This place is my new obsession! I have been craving Swig (an Utah specific dirty soda place) and I am so glad I've found something similar. The prices are very reasonable for what you're getting. Also, the packaging couldn't be cuter! A perfect summer vibe. First off, great idea on combining a Crumbl-esque shop with coffee. The correct category for this place is "dessert" shop rather than "coffee" shop though. I had passed by several times and was very curious, so I stopped last week and got the Nutella cookie and the Venice iced coffee. The cookie was OK- just really sweet, of course. But I did not like the coffee at all. I felt like there was no flavor whatsoever. Just espresso and milk. I definitely wouldn't order it again. The service was friendly and quick. After coming home from visiting friends in Idaho and being spoiled with swig daily, I came here wanting a dirty soda after a quick google search suggested it. I'm genuinely very upset and disappointed. My main reason for being upset is the lack of apology from the employee who cashed me out. When she handed me my beverage she let go of the cup before I was even able to get a good hold on it, causing it to spill all over my car and body. No apology, no empathy. Nothing? Like at all, it was very clear she did not care and just gave a very blunt almost sarcastic sounding "do you want napkins?" (huh?? Obviously? what?) While she may have given me napkins and remade my drink, which was the bare minimum. I can't help but feel stuck on the fact there was no actual apology over the fact she dropped my drink into my had before I was able to hold it properly, something as simple as "I'm sorry" would have been enough. It's not unreasonable to want or expect a simple "I'm sorry that happened" Even more disappointing was my flamingo drink, it was not good and had a cough syrup flavor. As soon as I pulled over into the gas station, to continue cleaning up my seat and car floor, I threw it away. It was not at all anything like the many different yummy drinks I tried at swig. Obviously I know coco playa is different and not swig but it's just not good nor would I personally come back. The only decent product was the cookie, while it was cold it was at least soft and tasted like a cookie. Who doesn't love late night cookies? We just happened to park near this spot on the way to a concert and decided to impulse buy some snacks. The cookies weren't warm but they were huge and chewy/moist on the inside. I also got the Pom beach puncher with lemonade, which mostly tasted like pink lemonade and not so much pomegranate. This place very much feels like a variation of a Sonic to me with different food options. It's mostly a drive thru with a walk up window, and some seats on the outside but no real indoor seating. The location is in a very busy intersection so if I wasn't on foot I probably would've skipped this spot. I hate to give a bad review because I know it affects business but they only had 3 of the 8 cookie options available. The cookies were not served warm like they were supposed to be. I tried the cookies and cream one. It was decent size but slightly grainy from the sugar and just ok. The passion fruit pomegranate refresher tasted like watered down lemonade. It was pink but very unflavorful. The person at the window took the payment pad back when it was at the tip screen and tipped themselves. CoCo Playa caught my attention while we were passing by because of the shop vibrant color. It looks like a beach shop but at Kurtz st. Instead. Their menu included coffee, dirty soda, Latte, cool refreshers, baked goodies,and cookies. They are specialized in their customized, infused soft and energy drinks. For example, you can choose flat or Fizz drink, Lemonade, black or green tea or red bull base. You can choose your base and your flavor to create your unique drink. The barista was such a sweet young lady. She was very helpful and friendly. We ordered Large Mango Tango Fizz / Lemonade, and two large Peachy Kean Fizz / Lemonade. The large size was enormous! I didn't expect that size at all for a large size. The drinks were similar in taste to Italian cream soda. They were refreshing in this hot summer. We also ordered white chocolate Macademia nuts cookies, cookie & cream cookies, and Nutella Bueno. The macademia nuts was buttery, chewy with crunchy macadamia. The cookies and cream cookie was ooey gooey, soft and chewy. It was my favorite.The nutella bueno was like a very rich chocolate chips cookie. It was good but very sweet for me. I've driven past this place and not known it was there. This weekend my daughter and her friend asked me to take her there to try it. It was lovely. We all ordered different refreshers and a cookie. I had the Seas the Day with a lemonade base. My daughter ordered the Peachy Keen with a Starry (like sprite or 7-up) base. I liked the bubbles, so next time I'll use a soda base as well instead of a lemonade base. I ordered the chocolate chip cookie because that's really all a girl needs and it did not disappoint!! My daughter has the Rocky Road and her friend the Dubai Chocolate cookie. All were delicious. They were saying the rotate cookies now so they won't always have all their flavors at the same time. It was hard to find the drive-through opening, I had to wrap around the area twice because they're located near a busy intersection. I wish there were bigger signs to be able to find the opening easier. You can only order the drinks either drive-through or at the window. There are only 2 parking spaces open and it's pretty much located right against the drive-through line. Pretty much everyone with a car is waiting in the drive-through. Warning: the drive-through wait is like waiting in In N Out. The staff is more on the Trader Joe's friendlier side. Because the concept of dirty soda is new, the staff helps you go through their menu options while taking your order. Surprisingly, you can add a lot of stuff to a dirty soda so it does take a while to go through the options to prep your order. If you're the type to know what you want and want your drink fast with no chit-chat. I would order on the website beforehand and probably have a plus one to pick it up at the window. Personally, this is my first time having a dirty soda and I didn't particularly enjoy the taste of soda being dirty. It is a different experience for a sweet drink, so I might need to experiment or try other flavors. Cola-Colada (Medium/ no plant-based energy shot ): Cola, pineapple, and coconut milk. This is my favorite of the two drinks ordered. Sweetness is REALLY sweet, like if you were to get 125-150% sweetness in a boba drink. I probably would have liked this if there had been a sweetness adjustment. Coronado (Medium/ iced coconut/ 2 expresso shots): The expresso made the soda taste watered down. It tasted more like a coffee drink with a splash of soda with no hint of coconut flavor. I wouldn't recommend this if you were trying to get more of a dirty soda taste. read more

Ever since me and my friend tried Swig in Arizona, we have been missing dirty soda spots! I've seen this spot on Tiktok, so it was perfect we had a trip planned to San Diego! Had high hopes for Coco Playa with all of the advertising we had been seeing on social media, but we were very disappointed when we gave them a try. The location is in an awkward spot right off the freeway, so getting into the drive-thru or parking lot can be confusing. We stopped by around 10am, and the person working the drive-thru was very rude despite us letting him know that it was our first time and we had a couple questions about the menu. When we asked about cookies, he rolled his eyes and told us that they were sold out and the rest of the interaction was awkward. We pulled to the window and the girl seemed annoyed that we were bothering her conversation with coworkers. We realized after we had driven off that she gave us the wrong drinks even though we were the only car in the drive-thru at the time. The giant QR code for the menu is a cute idea, but not very practical since shadows on it make it hard for the iphone to recognize it properly. Service was quick and servers were very nice. The parking lot is a bit annoying since the drive thru line will block you in and there's only one garbage can there and not on the way out. This was the home of a couple of previous taquerias before CoCo Playa recently opened in the space on Kurtz St in the Midway District. It's a drive thru setup with an ordering lane on each side of the structure and then a couple of service windows in the front to handle walk-up customers. No inside seating was available, however there were a few outside tables on the south side of the building. Parking was limited to three spots, one of which was handicap designated. The menu listed coffee, cookies, dirty soda, energy drinks, and refreshers as the main categories. I noticed four types of cookies, but passed on them as my focus was on the cold drinks in the refreshers. There was a choice of bases... flat or fizz, tea (black or green), lemonade, and Red Bull. From there, eight different flavor combinations were available to choose from. Three serving sizes were offered, all of which had an affordable price. The items I purchased were the Mango Tango and Peachy Keen. I opted for lemonade in the first drink which was blended with mango puree and strawberry. For the second drink, my choice was green tea with peach, strawberry, and coco creme. Of the two, the Mango Tango had a better flavor profile because the ratio of sweetness to tartness was right. The coco creme in the Peachy Keen did nothing to enhance that beverage. During my visit, there was a group of customers ahead of me in line. Between them and the multiple vehicles in the drive-thru lanes, I had a significant wait of 20 minutes before I was able to place an order. I will chalk that up to bad timing as the volume of orders hit a surge that likely challenged the staff to keep pace. read more
