Came for the third time this past weekend and its about damn time I write a review. Everything I've had here, I've loved. My personal favorite, even more then the cookies, is the orange muffin. They didn't warm it up for me the second time I ordered it, so be sure to ask them to warm it up. Trust me, it tastes a thousand times better! For coffee, I recommend the La Jolla. It was perfect. As far as cookies, my favorite so far was the cookies and cream. This coffee spot is mainly a drive through place which is very convenient if you are on the go, but there really isn't a lot of seating area. Go check them out. You can thank me laters. read more

My fiancé and I have been here a couple of times and both times we weren't disappointed. The customer service is fantastic, we were always greeted with a smile and felt welcome. Their drinks are delicious, and the cookies are big and delicious. Parking is limited but they have a drive thru on both sides of the building. I definitely would recommend this place. read more

Was my first time coming here and not sure how to feel about it. Went through the drive through and a man approached the car letting us know that the left lane was blocked off due to landscaping , if it wasn't for him who know how long we would have been sitting there lol. The girl taking my order said she was training and did seem a bit overwhelmed. I got the Del Mar and it looked nothing how the picture shows online, pretty disappointed. The cookies though a bit pricey are worth it. After I left the drive through I did realize that she forgot one out of my two cookies so it was a bit annoying having to go back and ask for it. read more

I'm officially done with Coco Playa. I was such a big fan when they first opened, I even told my friends to go because of how good the Venice was. But it has seriously gone downhill, and the biggest issue is inconsistency. I get the Venice every single time because I loved it so much in the beginning that I didn't even want to try anything new. But now? Every time I go, it's a gamble. The taste changes constantly. They clearly don't use set measurements because even when I order the same size (a medium), it comes out totally different. Sometimes they go heavy on the cinnamon, sometimes it's barely there. The milk-to-coffee ratio is all over the place. I'm not trying to be a Karen--I'm just genuinely disappointed because they had so much potential. I'm attaching a side-by-side picture to show what I mean. One photo is the first Venice I ever got (perfection), and the other is the one I got today (5/8/25). They're clearly different colors, and yes--they tasted as different as they look. The one today was straight-up not good. And here's the part that really sent me: I took three sips before I got home, planning to add more milk since it tasted off. I separated the ice so it wouldn't water it down, and y'all--when I tell you the amount of ice they put in this thing?? Practically no coffee. For $8?? That's insane. I've given them so many chances, but at this point I'm tired of playing roulette every time I order. I shouldn't have to hope they make it right. We visited Utah during the holidays and were able to go to Swig, that being said, I judged this place hard care against swig. As swig is far superior to cocoplaya, it does offer dirty sodas, which is fine and as far as I am knowledgeable I have not been able to find a place that offers these. I ordered the green tea pomegranate drink, it's was okay. Not great. But I have only been once, so maybe they'll be better next time. read more

We came primarily for the cookies. Arrived at 1ish on a Saturday and was told they sold out of their noon batch and to come back at 4pm for the next batch. We were in the drive thru so we ordered drinks just so the trip wasn't a waste. I ordered the Ken subbed with Pepsi Zero instead of Diet Pepsi and hubby ordered the Pink Flamingo. We are not soda drinkers so our drinks were way too sweet for our taste buds. We ended up throwing them away midway through. I don't think we'd come back for the cookies especially if they don't bake enough. The scarcity tactic doesn't give me FOMO enough to want to try. The cookie flavors were basic and apparently they bake them every four hours. Why limit your revenue potential? The stars are for the staff who were friendly and apologetic. read more

We came here to try the coffee since my coworker said it was good. Ended up getting dirty sodas because they sounded so unique. If you never had a dirty soda it is a soda with flavors and cream/creamer. Got the dew where my car and the coco colada. The dew where is my car was Mountain Dew with blue raz and coco cream. Delicious and refreshing. It was different and delicious. The color was pretty too. Tasted like a mocktail. Bubbly, creamy and different. The coco cream cola, vanilla, pineapple and coco cream. It was good, refreshing and creamy. Great service. Super quick service. They have a parking lot and a drive through. There's apparently a bunch of secret drinks and you can make your own. Wish I went and looked at the menu online on the website because it is so nice. The website has drinks not on the menu. The visuals and description of each drink is everything. They have pretty good prices. I think the small dirty soda was only $3.99. You can also add a vegan energy drink to your drink for a little extra if you need that energy caffeine boost. This little spot was very cute! I didn't see if you could walk up, but we drove through. There were only two other cars so we got through quickly. I tried the the iced Coronado (Irish crème breve) and it was delicious as it came. I usually get half sweet, but chose to try the original this time. Customer service was great let's start there the team seemed like they were still trying to get a hang in the process so it took A little bit longer then expected. I ordered a coco playa cookie a medium del mar and a medium turtle bay, but when I got to the window I got the Newport I don't know how the order got messed up but it did. Being that it took long to get the order I just took it, I wasn't a fan of the coffee my wife though her coffee was blended and that wasn't the case either. The coffee and cookie I bought here were incredibly delicious!! I was intrigued by the name like not just coffee, but also cookies?! I had to try it and was not expecting it to be this good, but now I wish there was one near me. I had their Sandals cold brew coffee half sweetened and it was spectacular. Blows all of the Starbucks cold brews out of the water. The chocolate chip cookie was thick and chunky, soft textured, and perfect chocolately goodness. Finally made it to @cocoplaya to try their coffee and cookies. Well, I can truly say that the hype was justified. The latte was perfect in taste, texture and met my palate's expectations. I have to comment on the coffee cup lid, that made it easier to sip without any risk of dripping (compliment to the designer). Just heard about this new cookie company. I live in the North County of San Diego, but had to make the trip to Point Loma to check it out. Wow it was more than worth it. The cookies were incredible and the cold nitro brew was perfect on a hot Thursday. My favorite cookie is the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut and this was the best I have ever had. The other big cookie chains don't bake these on a consistent basis which has always frustrated me. No more. I know where to go. You have to try this place. I'm obsessed! I come here almost every week since the first time I came. I've never had dirty soda before so I didn't know how I would like it. I ordered one of the spring break specials and it was delicious. Another time I got the Mtn dew drink that was great too. On my last visit I got the coca-colada which was my least favorite. If you come here and are considering getting the matcha, from one matcha girl to another: just get a dirty soda or a coffee. The matcha quality is below average when compared to a regular chain coffee shop, as evidenced by the color, and the matcha flavor is non existent so the latte just tastes like sweetened milk. However, I enjoy some of the other drinks and the cookies from here, hence the 4 stars overall. The matcha latte I would rate 3/10 when considered on its own. read more

Coco Playa is my new go to coffee shop in San Diego. They have a unique menu which is sure to appease just about everyone. They offer a walk up window and drive thru. Service was pretty quick and very friendly. I had the Baja, which is a horchata latte. It was just the right amount of sweetness. I also had the bacon scone, which I cannot recommend enough. I love this place! I have an obsession with coffee and I come here everyday and get the same thing. An Iced Vanilla Latte with Oatmilk and STRAWBERRY SOFT TOP is my go to and it's a game changer!! The cookies are also delicious! We usually get the Blue Playa, Cookies and Cream and also the Nutella is really good too. The staff is super friendly and my favs are Josh and Tianna. I got a soda from Coco Playa in Mission Valley, thanks to my nieces, and it totally reminded me of those cool soda shops I visited in Salt Lake City, Utah. I haven't actually been to the place myself, so I can't speak for the whole vibe or the rest of the menu, but the soda they brought me wasn't bad at all! It had just the right amount of sweetness and fizz--nothing too over the top. If you're in the area and want something refreshing, I'd say it's worth checking out. I don't know that Coco Playa is licensed as a therapists office as well as a coffee and cookie shop, but all the stress in my life was CURED there today. I was feeling down and needed a sweet treat so I drove over to the cute new Coco Playa in Point Loma and I had an awesome experience from start to finish. The entire place is fresh, clean and darling and you can drive through or drive up like an old school car hop (kids who don't understand this reference can get off my lawn lol). There was a wonderful young person taking orders and I didn't get her name but she did a great job talking through the menu with me and making suggestions. She's a great salesperson. The person at the window was also friendly and kind. My order was correct and delicious! My cold brew was perfect and how plastic can be aesthetically pleasing remains a mystery but the size, shape and feel of the cup is just fantastic. These cookies beat the place that starts with a C and needs an e on the end, AND are comparable to Levain (I said what I said) - I am telling you - from the gorgeous packaging to the look, size and density of the cookies PLUS the incredible flavor - sign me up to be a Coco Playa influencer now because I am a stan for life. Not good unfortunately. I got the Newport blended and it tastes so bad. The texture has me thinking they blended it with gelatin I'm so confused it literally has a jello texture. So we got there and we ordered cookies and then we were ordering and they were saying oh we're out of this and we're out of that and then for some reason, the machine wasn't taking an order so somebody else came take an order and we asked for the ones they said they didn't have and they did have them the cookies were OK the drinks we had were not that great just super sweet. I think they are the only place I've found in San Diego that actively advertises the dirty soda, but they also have coffee, teas, etc so that no matter someone's preference they'll have a drink for them. The options are seemingly endless between the recommended drinks and the different flavors available to add to the base drink of your choice. I had a coco colada with Dr. Pepper subbed for the CocaCola and it was great without being overly sweet. We also tried the Del Mar which was perfect for people looking for a less sweet coffee option. I also tried the cosmic cookie and while I'm a sweets person with a huge sweet tooth, it was definitely a touch too sweet for me and I would need someone to share with in the future (highly recommend warming it up at home if you can wait that long!). Prices are typical for the area and the drinks honestly feel a little bigger than comparable sizes from other places.
