I've seen rave reviews of Coco Shrimp when the establishment was a food truck and now that Coco had a brick and mortar near me...I had to go! Upon entering, the atmosphere of the restaurant had rustic influences like exposed brick wall, stringed lights, and wooden furniture/menu signs. Hawaiian, beachy touches flourished in the surfboards hanging on the ceiling and in the music rotation of Bob Marley/Beach Boys/vacation music! I ordered a Sampler ($12.70), where you choose 3 flavors of shrimp. I chose Spicy, Coco (coconut shrimp), and butter garlic. My friend also ordered a Sampler, but unlike my Sampler ordered Lemon Herb. The prices were decent, I can see how the price would match the quality of the food. Self-serve drink area next to a hand-washing station was neat! They have a patio near the entrance where you can go out and eat. Clean tables, service was good, staff brang out our orders to our table when we expected them to call out a number and have to go and pick up our order ourselves. Some shrimp were small and some we're decently sized, none were overcooked, but my favorite were the Coco Shrimp, crunchy, served with a sweet and tangy sauce. I wasn't fond of the flavor of the Spicy shrimp, but it was above average nonetheless. My friend said the Lemon Herb shrimp tasted how you'd expect. The shrimp in both of our to-go boxes (that they serve all food in) were neatly arranged in rows atop a pile of garlic butter rice. Which is the main reason I bumped my rating down some, too much garlic butter on too much rice, it seemed excessive, coating my mouth. And while I wouldn't complain about big portions, when I took my box of rice home the garlic butter made the rice unsalvageable. But whether you order a Sampler or just the box of Coco Shrimp, it comes with a side salad (though you have the option to subsitute with extra rice) with the choice of either Ginger or Poppyseed Vinigarette as dressings. I found the Ginger dressing to be decent, not the best salad dressing I've had, my friend said the Poppyseed was pretty good though. The salad had dried cranberries, a few slices of cucumber, mainly chopped lettuce stems and some leaves...definitely not a salad I would gravitate to as I prefer more light, spring instead of crunchier salads. But this salad balanced well with the overly buttered rice, refreshed my palette! They also have a drive thru which was pretty empty, but definitely another way to get your food. Overall, I would come back but definitely ordering just the Coco Shrimp meal instead of a Sampler...also probably ask if they could exclude garlic butter on my rice. 4 stars read more

Delicious! It's such a simple meal that is balanced with rice and a salad, so very good. My favorite is the garlic butter shrimp.

The place was clean and the staff was very nice. The first thing I didn't like is ordering my meal at the cash register and expected to tip for that. I'm the 15% top is highlighted to draw the customer's attention to press that one. I ordered the shrimp tacos and the cute little basket it came in made it difficult to pick up the taco. I guess it wouldn't have mattered since the shell is very thin and would tear leaving a mess. I ended up eating it with a fork. The sauce was good, but made it difficult to taste the shrimp. It was overpowering. The taco was filled with rice and lettuce and two shrimp. I probably won't be back. Pay your staff a bit more and don't ask the customer to tip since we are the ones waiting on ourselves in the dining room. I know lots of to to-go places have started doing this and it's tacky. read more

The only reason it gets a 4 vs a 5 is the price; it's a little pricey! It's about $30 for 2 people to eat there, which is a little pricey to me, when you could go somewhere else and be waited on, spending the same amount of money. However, the beach / surfer vibe and decorations make it a pretty laid back and down to earth feel, and the food is super duper delicious! It's also gluten free and there pretty healthy, for the most part! The service is okay; sometimes they bring your food to you, sometimes they don't. It's usually teenagers working the front registers, which is fine - they've always gotten my order correct, which is NICE, because I don't ever have to have anything corrected! However, they do need to teach them how to up-sell their sides and drinks - lol! The bottom line is I will eat here again and would definitely recommend this place! read more

Calling all shrimp lovers! They serve Hawaiian style shrimp plates including their signature coco shrimp (fried coconut flake batter). I always get their sampler which let's you choose 3 of their 5 flavors. I go for their coco shrimp, lemon herb, and spicy shrimp. It comes with salad and rice, but you can adjust this if you want more salad than rice or salad only, etc. They serve 2 types of dressing: poppyseed vinaigrette and creamy ginger. You can get only one but I always get both since they're so good. Their rice is buttery, garlicky, and seasoned with herbs. Their salad is fresh and esp good with the dressings. Staff is nice, service is quick, and the restaurant decor is very on point with their theme. I cannot wait to come back again! read more

I love the Garlic Butter shrimp and Coco Shrimp the most. I do like the rice but the portion is massive, which I cannot finish and hate wasting. I love the salad and the cranberries in it make me enjoy it more. The service is always great and the staff is always nice. They also DO NOT forget to put utensils inside the bag, which is a BIG deal if you've ever experienced others forgetting to do this! read more

This place is great! My wife introduced me to their food truck so I was stoked when I heard a brick and mortar was going up near us. The restaurant has a real chill atmosphere and plays great Carib jams. Feels like your not in the city anymore:) The food is awesome. I only get the 3 flavors that come grilled, and I love them all! Their rice is awesome and they make a dang good salad that comes with your entree too. You have to check this place out, if you like shrimp done right with a cool vibe and uniqueness. Wow! Ate there on Saturday during their soft opening and all I can say is "WOW!" I got a sampler so I could try the different flavors and everything was so good. Garlic shrimp were my favorite but all the flavors were really awesome! Also got a couple of the tacos to share and they were amazing too! Prices were on point too! Stooped by for a quick meal and to try this new place out. I was pleasantly surprised! The shrimp tacos are the best I've had. I highly recommend this place and will be back. Awesome value and excellent staff! If you want extra shrimp, each extra is a dollar more. The rice seasoning is buttery and flavorful, the coconut shrimp are butterflied and perfectly crispy every time. The place is always well staffed and everyone who works there is warm and friendly. I never finish my portion of rice, so I always get to take some home to stir fry for lunch the next day. Also, try the strawberry lemonade in the soda fountain, it tastes like real strawberries! read more
