Arrived in Cape Canaveral this evening and went here for dinner. This place is a block or 2 from the beach. Inside is fun and beachy. There's a bar that is decorated like a boat. The food was outstanding. We started with fried pickle spears - these are hand dipped and served with homemade ranch dressing. My husband ordered the Maui Maui sandwich and I ordered just side dishes, brussel sprouts, red skin mash potatoes, fried okra, hush puppies and a side salad. So much food - these sides are single serving but can easily be shared. We enjoyed everything, but so much left over. Next time we will share from the start. And sad we had no room for dessert. Our bill was $60ish with 4 beers and 10% off because we were staying at Best Western. Highly HIGHLY recommend this place. And our waitress Skyler was wonderful! read more

Today I was cruising up the coast a bit to Cocoa Beach Fish Camp. I know those who don't have the pleasure of residing beachside think OTB is nothing but a bunch of flapdoodle. However, I will let you know that according to my healing crystals, astrological chart, and the position of Uranus, it's quite real. After taking my seat and perusing the menu, I was approached by a wonderful young lady named Tani (pronounced Tawney). Tani was extremely efficient and considerably knowledgeable about the menu. She answered all of my questions with courtesy, professionalism and honesty. She was on top of her game today, and as her first customer, I can only assume she will get better as her shift progresses. Champions always step up at the end of a game. She was so impressive that she garnered a 110% tip. I asked Tani for a Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich and one Camp Mac & Cheese Burger. It wasn't long before the commendable Tani returned with my order, asked if I needed anything else and went off to prepare for other patrons. The "Fish Camps" website boasts they serve "swamp food with a flair," among other draws. I don't think Chickens are indigenous to swamps, I could be wrong, I mean those things seemingly survive anywhere, regardless this fell flat on the palate and was remiss in presenting me with flair. If they are indeed brining a raw chicken breast and then hand breading it with their secret camp breading, they might want to double-check the whole procedure. As it read deliciously on the menu, it fell just didn't have the flavor component. It was nothing spectacular though slightly above the chicken sandwich you come across in the land of snap houses known as the Space Coast of FL. The burger read just as well as the Chicken and fell just as short. It was cooked to order but obviously from the freezer. It wasn't bad. Again, you can take the bottom of the food service truck ingredients (this was not) and turn them into palatable provisions with proper execution. This was a properly executed slightly above-average dish. The Big Boy says, "This is a moderately above-average tourist deadfall." read more

The Best Western hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant located right next door to us, so we decided to give it a try. A busy Friday night, we found two seats at the smaller inside bar. I ordered a sangria and it was sickeningly too sweet. I prefer a little more wine with my fruit juice. We decided to start with the fried pickles... so salty but we ate them. Then we ordered the blackened mahi and a burger. The fish came first by almost 20 minutes. We had to ask if the burger was even coming. The bartender said yes but without an apology. The mahi was good until about three bites into it. It got really dry and we were told that it was fresh, not frozen but I couldn't even finish it. The Brussels sprouts it came with tasted like they had been boiled or microwaved to the point of being mushy and then thrown on to a grill to crisp up the edges. Inedible. The burger was mediocre at best. The worst part was the ciabatta roll- a very poor choice for a burger! The roll is too soft and falls completely apart around the burger and it's much too big and simply overshadows the beef patty in size. Just go back to a normal hamburger bun, it would be a much better choice. Fries were okay. I would never go back for a second go-around. We saw enough and experienced enough to know that there has to be better dining establishments than this one. read more

The food was so salty that I'm fairly certain DOTs in New England spread it on the roads in the winter. They sat us in a place where 30 minutes in they started a beginner line dance class so we had to listen to that at a far too high volume instead of talking to each other. Did we just stumble upon one of the freakin best places to dine in FL?? Looks like it! This was some of the best food I've tasted since my millionth time vacationing in Florida. I am an advent cruiser, and I stay in various places the day before the cruise. Luckily, I stayed at a hotel within walking distance from this restaurant. We were going to drive to another place, but the receptionists assured us we would not regret trying to place, and boy, was she right! I would tell by some of the patrons that the area was a huge conservative area, but we didn't have any odd encounters. The staff was bubbly, happy, and friendly. But the food, THE FOOD! Perfectly cooked and seasoned! This place has made my list of my try and visits. And even though the hotel was not that classy, this restaurant was enough to make me stay in the area again. This place is cool! You walk in, and there's so much decor to look at. They even have a tank with live baby gators. We stayed at the Best Western, which is connected next door, so it was super convenient. There's a pretty extensive menu with a lot of different items, including gator bites and po' boys. The biscuits and butter were amazing! Portions are generous! My only complaint is that some items were quite expensive. The service was quick and very attentive. We were seated almost immediately and loved checking out the little game room in the back. read more

This was the first place we went to when we came to Cocoa Beach. We were so excited for the Dueling Pianos! We got there early so that we could get a spot and had some drinks. Two years later we returned with high hopes of getting the same great ribs, but they were the same. Mine was full of gristle and weren't cooked long enough. They were tough and didn't fall off the bone. The ribs didn't have a lot of sauce, so my husband asked if he could have extra.... They brought him some and charged us extra.. I wish places would let you know that they charge for this. It's was a tiny little cup for $1.00. We should learn to ask, but then again, they should make sure they coat the ribs well enough. They also did away with their waffle fries, and now just serve crinkle cut fries. The slaw also changed and wasn't as good. Husband was able to eat his ribs but couldn't eat the slaw. Bottom Line: So disappointed This place is going to do well - with the tourists. Overpriced and underwhelming food so it's not going to do well with the locals. Kid's Hot Dog - when I go someplace with my Grandkids and they order a Hot Dog - they want a Hot Dog. They don't want what came out - Sliders. No hot dog on a bun instead a large beef sausage/dog split open, grilled on both sides and then cut in half and put on Slider Buns. Might be good as a Midnight Munchie Menu item but not a kids hot dog. If you're trying to be creative - save it for the adult entrees. It was sooooo salty I sent it back. AND it was supposed to be served on a frisbee that the kids keep. "Sorry, we are out of Frisbees" - was told to be when it was brought out not when I ordered it. (Btw - was telling someone that I went there and they me they went about 2 weeks ago and were told that they had just run out of frisbees) Hush Puppies - I took one bite and actually spit it out. I never do that! It tasted like day old hard doughnuts. No corn taste. Dry and crumbly. I sent that back too. I NEVER send food back but those 2 things weren't edible. Gator Bites - these were taken home - to use as bait in Racoon Traps. I didn't send that back because that was a taste preference. No one at the table liked them. I had the Combo Pig Wings and Chicken Wings. It was OK. One glass of Milk $3, one Beer $4, an appetizer of Gator Bites $13, Cluck and Oink Wings $16 (no side included!), Waffle Fries $6 (a SMALL bowl for $6!!). = $45 I will say out waitress was very pleasant and efficient. So many locals have said it's overpriced and the food is blah or bad. So why did I go? I had my granddaughter here and wanted to show her the Live Gators!!! Little did I know it's just 5 baby gators in a small tank by the front door. Bottom Line: like I said - they will do well with tourists but for a local to go more than once for $16 for 8 wings with no side ...... Nah. read more
