Their food is good and the atmosphere is something different from the cookie-cutter, chain coffee shop BUT their service is, well, not good. The first time I went, the girl at the cash register was helpful and enthusiastic! The food was great, so I went back. My experience last week was pretty bad. Long line to order (a lot of people, so okay. Not their fault). The cashier wasn't friendly at all really, but maybe she was in a rush to get everyone through the line. I stayed for a bit to read and enjoy my crepe (the banana Nutella one) and wanted to get my dad one to take home. I asked them a question about what comes in a menu item they had on the board, and no one could tell me! She brought another cashier to ask a question and both told contradicting answers! (One said it came with blueberries, the other said fresh strawberries).Then, they brought the manager over who finally answered my question. I asked if I could pay to add the blueberry Jam stuff to a strawberry one and was willing to pay extra, and he said they cannot do that. You can't add something or substitute something even though a customer is willing to pay for it?! Why not? So after dealing with the idiots at the cash register for 5 minutes before having my question answered correctly and finding out that the manager was UNWILLING to add something to a crepe even for an up charge, I walked out. We were looking for a casual coffee house, open in the evening, to meet some clients and this place worked great. Charlie and his team were very helpful and accommodating to our small group. Earl Gray tea ice cream. Where have you been all my life? This place has great tea that is steeped properly, plenty of open seating, and a high ceiling that diffuses noise. We went here because we thought we'd get a unique ice cream experience with the liquid nitrogen infused ice cream done right in front of you. Instead, we were served with just 2 scoops of ice cream already "prepared" in the back. Who even knows if it was even nitrogen infused as promised. To top it off, the ice cream was mediocre at best. Identity crisis and personality disorder at its best!! I was kinda confused when I first walked up to this place. The sign in front of the store says "Cocohodo" yet right underneath it was another sign that says "Sweet Vivian's Ice Cream & Dessert Lab". So which is which? Am I entering Cocohodo or Sweet Vivian's Sweet Ice Cream? My confusion got even worse once I got in the store. I was expecting this place to be an ice cream place yet, it looked nothing like it. The place looked like a coffee shop. Unlike an ice cream shop which is usually small it was quite spacious with lots of tables and customers drinking coffee while using their laptops. I could smell strong espresso coffee being brewed yet the glass divider next to the cash register was full of tea canisters of various blends. Wait, it gets better :-) . There was a whole wall dedicated to Harvey and Sons Master Tea Blenders. The wall was stocked different tea blends in addition to the ones next to the cash register. In the middle of the shop separating the cash register and the seating area were long floor shelves stocked with jars of Sarabeth's preserves, cookies and gift baskets. This made the place looked like a country store. Their chalkboard menu mentioned that they also served salad, soup and crepes. After seeing all this I was really confused. Am I in: a. Coffee shop? b. Ice cream shop? c. Tea Store? e. Country store? d. All of the above? Ding, ding, ding, ding!!!! We have a winner!! It all those and more! My guess is the owner could not rent a smaller place (it is a corner shop). He/she then decided to stock the place with thousands of dollars of items of different brands just to make the shop not look sparse/empty. After holding to the counter and getting my bearings, we ordered their ice cream. This ice cream is made from liquid ice cream base and frozen using liquid nitrogen right in front of your eyes (if you can see through the thick liquid nitrogen vapor). The ice cream flavor was really good and the texture was creamy smooth. No ice particles you would expect from a flash freezing process. For this, I gave this place 3 stars. Despite all my ribbing about personality disorder, this place was busy and looked like doing good business. I love it when local businesses do well!! read more

Cocohodo is a FANTASTIC addition to this side of Katy!! I cannot get enough of their peanut butter ice cream! They're one of the few places that make their own and one of the only places I've ever seen use liquid nitrogen to freeze it! It makes for a great gimmick to show kids and give them a small science lesson!! Cocohodo tends to be VERY busy, especially when the teens are out of school, so do expect to wait, but it is totally worth it!!! read more

I'm very disappointed with customer service there, after church on Sunday my family usually go there to have coffee and deserts, i have a new born baby and i asked the girls if we can barrow bowls and hot water to heat up a breast milk for our baby, and they told us all they can give us was small styrofoam cup!!! And i ask them nicely milk bottle wont fit in here so do u have bigger cup or bowl? And they said no!! Wth!!! Its cafe!!! How can u not have bigger cup? U serve large size coffees!! U serve lattes! This is my first review on Yelp, I usually only use the app to get suggestions for great places, but I had such an awful experience here that I have to say something in hopes that the manager of all people will do better in the future. My sister stopped by to pick up some ICED CARAMEL MACCHIATOS. She ordered 3 "Caramel Macchiatos", which the server did not think to specify to ask "iced or hot." So within the confusion, they were made hot. She explained that she wanted them iced, and the barista said she was wrong and that's how she ordered them, the manager was called and scolded her saying that "that's 14 dollars that you're wasting." Instead of just making new drinks for a PAYING CUSTOMER. So to fix the problem, the hot drinks were poured over ice, which resulted in an awful watered down coffee drink. My sister and I went back all the way to coffee shop to get them fixed. And after arguing with the manager once again he finally made 3 more mediocre drinks. For claiming that "they're not Starbucks" and they "use premium coffee beans" they sure don't care about the customer, just the $$. Please don't open an establishment that SERVES CUSTOMERS if you're not willing to do just that. Manager had the worst attitude. And didn't want to show any hospitality and fix the issue, just wanted to argue with me. read more

Great plum tea. I very much enjoy it. The savory crepes are also to die for. I did order a vegetarian one, thinking it was the same one that I had when I dined in, however it was not. This place is pretty neat for kids to experience the nitrogen ice-cream. I liked the menu and the variety of food choices they had. I got the Nutella Hot Chocolate and it was so good that I went and bought one to go at the end of the night...whoops lol. The apple pie crepe was delicious as well, it had a thin and flaky texture with warm apples inside and a cold scoop of ice cream with crumbles on top. Cocohodo is definitely a great addition to Katy! It's very spacious and relaxing, and there's free wifi! I ordered a green tea icecream, and it was really good, but for some reason, it took them almost 10 minutes to bring out? However, I went here when the store just opened, so the staff was probably still learning. Also, my icecream came with half a strawberry and a leaf, which is very different from the toppings other people received. I came here for a crepe because I'd heard some good things about the place. It took almost 45 minutes to get my food and I had to go to the counter twice to get it! The crepe itself was ok. It was a Nutella crepe with Strawberries. It was decently-priced around $5, but some other ones were over $8! The atmosphere was like a Starbucks, so if you've got an hour to eat something that should only take about 5 minutes to make, be my guest.
