We were Wildly impressed, and honestly, quite surprised. Shout out to Dora, BK, and Chloe, you girls were great, and made my family happy! Lets start with the food. The entire meal was significantly better than we expected, every dish tasted great. And they Did it not cheap out, and water out the coconut base in anything, you could taste the real coconut from the curry, the rice, and even thier coconut cheesecake. Thats what you expect from a place named Coconut Bay. Possibly more importantly, the entire staff had smile on thier face. It sounds trivial. But its not! Do you look happy or annoyed to get some food ro water or whatever directly effects the patrons impression of the place. Lastly, and this STUNED US, because its rare. We had a birthday. I let them know it was a birthday. And they got the entire staff to bring out these Thai instremenats, banged on them for a bit, and this cute Neon Sign that read happy birthday. That meant everyone had to stop what they were doing, and had to have a sign with a charged battery all set for this little activity. It was GREAT. Once again, seems trivial, but its not. Its the details that count!!! We were very happy , and will be returning. TO THE OWNERS. If I can respectfully give some advice. Your interiro resturant is buetiful (love the Bells), food is great, and your staff is well trained., But your exterior facade needs some love. I understand that you don't want to remove the extra space that Covid earned you, and that makes sense. But please find a way to dress it up, so that it deserves to be in front of your very pretty place. Currently its an eyesore that discourges visitors. Same thing with your exterior. We found you online, but would have never walked in if we only were walking by, and saw your exterior. It is not inviting. It does not tell the wonderful story you have waiting inside. I was looking for a place to eat for Thai food. It was super busy and very noisy. The ambiance was okay with a nice looking interior. The service seemed rushed and not much attention to detail. My table didn't really get much attention and didn't get my water refilled. Also, I ordered Thai iced tea, but never received it. The food was okay for Thai and there was an abundance of onion chunks in every dish. The soup looks sad and I've had better. Prices were priced accordingly for the Burlingame neighborhood as expected. This may be my only visit and I don't recommend coming here. read more

For my daughter's 1st birthday party I was looking for a venue that could accommodate a private/semi private room for about 70 guests, that had good food, and was also reasonably priced. Coconut Bay fit the bill! We had such a great experience working with Aimorn and her staff to make sure the party was everything we wanted it to be. Communication was easy and Aimorn was very responsive. The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful and friendly. There was only one hiccup which was a mixup with our dessert order. It was a little disappointing since we received the wrong flavor of 130 pieces of dessert. But they were apologetic about it. We did have to order more food the day of the party as the recommended amounts weren't quite enough (or everyone just really enjoyed the food) but it wasn't a big deal. Also just be aware that the deposit for the space also tacks on sales tax which was different from what I'm used to. This deposit is put towards the final bill but the tax calculation gets a little confusing. Overall we highly recommend this place. This place serves disgusting old food. I ordered the pad Thai and the curry chicken with coconut rice. Omg never in my life have I ever had such disgusting overcooked coconut rice. Got here at 6:30pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy at all, but it did get busier as the night went along (I think a decent flow of people came probably an hour after but not enough for there to be a wait). They also have a nice outside eating area. Went here for my little brothers birthday so we had a cake and they charged us $11 as a "cake fee" ($1/person) to hold it in the fridge and serve it to us. The food was good, we ordered a bunch: - Coconut prawns 10/10 - Prik khing 9/10 - Legendary Pad Thai w/ chicken 10/10 - Duck curry 7/10 - Panang curry 8/10 - Appetizer platter 9/10 - Roti 11/10 (we love roti) Only thing I wish was better was the duck curry because there was such a little portion of duck. My mom and I altogether had 5-6 slices. Coconut prawns were better than I've had because 1) I could literally smell the coconut on it and 2) it wasn't just breaded prawns. Prik Khing had a bit of kick to it, same with the panang curry. Appetizer plate was short lived lol The legendary pad thai came at the end of our meal so we were pretty full already but it smelled so amazing we all took a few bites and were happy we did.. tasted as good as it smelled. The staff was awesome. Super quick and attentive, never going back to the kitchen without an emptied dish from the table. Typically when there's large parties and gratuity is included, the service is subpar but it definitely was not here! They were on the ball and I really appreciated the service. Got a few things to try: Thai ice tea $3- very sweet, I still liked it Roti w/ curry sauce $11. Served hot but only 4 small pieces and some curry sauce on the side. Coconut chicken soup $15 - served in a big burner, it's a lot, though it was too sweet and chicken dry. Pad See Eew called Highway Noodle $16 - I liked it, not enough noodles for me. Pork was fine, lots of broccoli I liked. Green pork curry $16 - small bowl, was ok. Separate bathrooms in the back. Overall, food was just ok. read more

Food was okay. Pretty and spacious atmosphere. I give it a higher rating if they didn't I rip me off. My husband spilled his beer, they gave us another one and I thought it was nice of them to not charge us for it. Until....... They charge me for an extra item that we didn't order , and gave me an option to tip 15%, 18% or 20%. I brought it up to their attention that I was overcharged. They were nice and corrected the bill... ONLY to add a 20% tip AFTER tax. The option of 15%,18% was not even an option anymore at that point. I told them the tip should be calculated before tax if they were going to add the mandatory tax. They said they can't do anything about it " because the system just works that way". It wasn't much of a huge difference on the bill, but it's the principle! When overcharging was not successful, they added a mandatory 20% after tax. I love supporting local business, but I think I'll take my business else where . read more

This is indeed my new favorite Malaysian spot. I hafta drive 40 minutes just to eat here, but it's worth the wait. Their lamb curry has a unique taste that other places fail to achieve. Its not too heavy or thick. I can feel a home like taste in it. The lamb itself is very soft and tender. Almost reminds me of a pull pork type texture. And their mango sticky rice is awesome. This place has gotten a little bit better. First off 10 stars for their Covid protocols. They literally cling wrap your plate and utensils and napkin so that the server and you and your guests have a clean plate! The Thai food here is still super overpriced. For example, a mango sticky rice anywhere else would run you $6-8...but here it's a whopping $11! The crab Rangoon was good, and the Thai tea was good but filled with ice and small. A nice neighborhood Thai restaurant. A bit upscale, so it's a solid choice for date night, a business meeting, or family night out. Fairly ample parking, at least a block or two away, and the decor is really nice; formal and sets an intimate mood. The food is very good, although since it's a tad upscale, they could give a little bit more on their dishes for better value. Service is very good as well; friendly and attentive. The restaurant is a striking resemblance of Osha Thai. It doesn't feel perfect, but it pretty close. read more

5/8/2021 Quarantine Day 418 I came here with a friend for a late lunch. Street parking was relatively easy to find. When we got to the front, the host checked our temperatures and we got to choose between indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoor seating, and (at the time) the tables were space 6 feet apart from each other. The plates are plastic wrapped with the napkins, fork and knife already inside. I thought this was neat but darn, lots of plastic used up! Here's what we got to share: 1. Angel wings 2. Pouring noodles 3. Yellow curry The sauce on the angel wings were good; a little on the spicy side but tolerable. The curry was somewhat on the more watery side, which was disappointing. The chicken was a bit chewy, but at least the potatoes were soft. The pouring noodles did not have enough noodles, and they also clumped up so we were eating chunks of noodles. Overall, it was an okay experience. I remember I came here a few years ago before the pandemic for a birthday dinner and the food then was much better. Perhaps the chefs have changed since then, but for my experience that day, the food nowadays was just mediocre. read more

We came again to this restaurant after sometime and this time with one of our family members who flew in from Atlanta. The food was great! If you are looking for a mediocre restaurant with high prices and small portions, then this would be the perfect spot! My family and I ordered 10 dishes from this place, hoping that it would feed 14 of us (2 of which were kids). However, it was not enough food at all. I am not sure if they decided to give smaller portions for takeout, but it was not even enough food for a family of 5. I even asked the server over the phone if it would be enough food and they confirmed that it would be. The ten items are below: Roti with curry: 2 pieces of crispy roti with a small sauce container for the curry. Coconut shrimp: 5 small mediocre pieces for $14?!! The quality was comparable to the frozen Costco coconut shrimp. Garden fresh rolls: just like any other spring roll with some fish sauce on the side Garlic Quail: this was served in a quarter sized plastic container and it was completely soaked in chili oil. Highway Noodles: the noodles barely filled the bottom half of the takeout container. Just like any sweet pad see ew noodles. Coconut Bay Trout: what was this? It was just a single fried cut of fish served over some dried cabbage. It was dry and had no flavor to it. Cashew nut chicken: the only thing memorable about this dish was that it could barely feed the family. Basil Beef: nothing special, a bit too salty. Yellow curry; served in a quarter sized plastic container. This is usually the amount of food leftover when my family eats out. Why was this portion so small? It was like four scoops full. Pineapple fried rice: the pineapples were definitely defrosted and mixed into fried rice for presentation. This disappoints me how little they gave for such high prices. I was excited to eat Thai food today, but I lost my appetite after seeing how little food there was for the whole family and how mediocre the food was. My family ended up making 5 extra dishes because there was literally not enough food. We ordered yellow Curry with chicken, egg rolls, legendary pad Thai, fried rice and the fried banana with vanilla ice cream and honey! Earlier this month I hosed my graduation celebration at Coconut Bay, and I couldn't have been happier! Although I had visited the restaurant once before, I discovered through Yelp that there was a back room for larger parties, which can host up to 70 people. With just under 50 attendees, this was the perfect setting. Aimorn is amazing! She was incredibly helpful with food suggestions and determining appropriate quantities for our group size. Aimorn's attention to detail and excellent eye for décor were impeccable. Usually, I am a control freak but, but due to the stress of graduation, I entrusted Aimorn with all the decorations. I simply dropped off my décor the night before and told her "I trust your good taste". When I arrived after my ceremony, I was blown away by the setup. The table decor, and dessert table were absolutely adorable, exceeding anything I could have done myself. The intimate feel of the back room was great, and it never felt too loud. Everyone was able to enjoy food, drinks and conversation easily. Several family members and friends raved about the menu and later told me they returned to the restaurant on their own. For other guests this was their introduction to Thai food and became immediate fans! Aimorn also helped me craft a menu that accommodated guests with shellfish allergies, ensuring everyone could enjoy the meal worry-free. as We had fresh rolls and chicken satay for appetizers, and for the entrées: chicken pad thai, drunken noodles with beef, pineapple fried rice, garlic bbq chicken, eggplant basil with pork, and a yellow curry with veggies.   The staff was also incredibly helpful throughout the event. They assisted with cutting the cake and boxing extra food for guests to take home. Their attentiveness was remarkable -- if a table was needed for gifts, it was setup immediately, allowing me to relax and enjoy the celebration. Any potential hiccups were handled seamlessly, so I never had to worry about a thing. Towards the end, we all took turns taking pictures at the entrance with the beautiful pink flower wall. The ambiance, service and food were phenomenal! Although I don't graduate every year, I know I would love to host another party here. Highly recommend Coconut Bay to everyone! read more

We felt like some Thai food. Quick search and this came up 5 minutes away. Sounds good. Had to do a blocky once to get a parking. But it was right on dinner time so expected. Greeted by a lovely lady who promptly seated us. We ordered quickly pot stickers came out beautifully presented, hot crisp and oh so delicious! Coconut bay cocktail was superb! We both had the thai green chicken curry, we go medium heat and it was spicy, we like hot so it was perfect. They are super efficient and very nice. Love the Halloween decorations! Saturday night found them on yelping Thai. Safe tiny parking garage like 100 feet away free after 6 pm plenty of spaces open and lit. Safe neighborhood lots of small restaurants nearby . Ambience and decor was modern &chill. Staff was friendly , full bar, clean bathroom , private booths in the back I noticed. Not noisy at all. Free refills on soda .A wine glass cellar with lots of wine on display. The food was delicious I love the angel wings and the sauce it came on top of. There are tvs if your into watching the game. The price was acceptable. And the one thing I decide if ton recommend people to a Thai restaurant is they if they have fried banana ice cream dessert . They did and I ordered it with mango ice cream and it was so good ! I would come here again if I am ok my way to the airport as it is a few exits away in downtown Burlingame. Came here with my co-workers for lunch. It just opened so we were the first ones. The place looks amazing, big space, very friendly staff. The restaurant had a lunch menu which had really good options ranging from $15-20 if you want 1-2 items. The food took longer than usual but the food is really good. Coconut Bay always a place where I pass by and see people there. I have been there once a while back and came back again. The place was very clean took Covid safety precautions. When I arrived the menu was an e-menu and had to scan the bar code and pull it up on my phone. The plates and utensils were sealed and sanitized. It was impressive. I ordered Pad kew mow(drunken noodles) so good! The food portion was definitely generous. I would say the food is good... not as spicy as other places but still good!
