Tsukira Ramen is nestled in an apartment park, surrounded by homes and sitting next door to Penelope's Coffee. The interiors are spacious with plenty of tables and bar seating. The wait staff are knowledgeable and polite--service was fast as well. I got the dipping ramen with seafood, which was cooked just right with a slight char on the items. The ramen came with a large piece of scallop, three shrimp, two pieces of squid, and tempura eel. The sauce was thick and filled with chashu pork bits. I enjoyed slurping every bite! My husband got the yuzu shio chashu ramen which he also enjoyed.

Solid 4* Friend and I originally came here for sushi but upon arrival, it turned out to be a ramen restaurant! Us being spontaneous, we decided to give it a try and the meal turned out quite delicious. Friend ordered the Tsukemen dipping Deluxe and I proceeded with Black Garlic Tonotsu. Both dishes were flavorful but slightly on the saltier savory side. We also opted in for the BOGO appetizer to try their Tuna Tartare & Chicken Karaage. Appetizers paired well with the hot sake while we were chatting and eating. Spacious restaurant with semi-private booths. Service was quick, friendly and efficient.

The Bay Area's first seafood tsukemen is finally here Tsukira Ramen -- Foster City One of my favorite details: there's a candle under the dipping broth to keep it warm throughout your meal! What we ordered: * Seafood Tsukemen * Mini Unagi Don * Omakase Set * Sushi Mini Don (Hokkaido Uni, Caviar, Ikura & Toro) * Langostino * Yuzu Shio Ramen If you're a tsukemen lover, this spot is worth adding to your list.

After running weekend errands, the kids were craving ramen and we decided to try somewhere new -- which led us to Tsukira Ramen. Interestingly, this spot comes from the same owners behind 808, the immersive omakase experience, so we already had some familiarity going in. The space still carries over the same layout challenges from its previous concept -- not the most intuitive or comfortable setup -- but ultimately, ramen places live and die by the food. What We Tried Tuna Tartare A carryover favorite from the 808 menu. Fresh, clean flavors, and honestly good enough that each of us could've had our own portion. Popcorn Langostino (Lobster) Generous serving with a nice crispy texture. The seafood itself was well executed, though the accompanying aioli felt a bit simple -- a brighter or fresher sauce would really elevate this dish. Aburasoba Rich, bold, and satisfying. The noodles had great texture and held the sauce well. Definitely one of the heavier but more flavorful options on the menu. Chicken Paitan Ramen Creamy with deep chicken flavor throughout the broth. Comforting and well balanced without being overly salty. Tonkotsu Ramen Solid execution, but nothing particularly unique compared to local standouts like Marufuku or Ramen Nagi. Still enjoyable, just not especially memorable. Braised Pork Belly Over Rice Rice was cooked perfectly, fluffy and well-textured. The pork belly had great flavor but was slightly over-minced, losing some of the satisfying bite you'd expect from braised cuts. Overall, Tsukira Ramen delivers a dependable meal with a few elevated touches that reflect the owners' fine-dining background with 808. While the layout could use improvement and some dishes could push creativity further, it's definitely nice to know there's another spot nearby for soup and noodles!

Tucked in a quiet area in Foster City, we found this spot on Yelp and decided to check it out. They're still relatively new. They have a special BOGO appetizer deal for their soft opening, so we wanted to get in on that deal! We arrived around 6 pm after an hour of traffic, which took double the time it normally takes to get to Foster City. Our fault for not thinking clearly! Luckily, there were a few open tables when we got there. The restaurant was adorned with Japanese artwork and aesthetics for a peaceful and comfortable ambiance. And as soon as we got there, we were greeted warmly. The first thing I noticed was the self-serve water dispenser and condiments (crispy fried garlic, togarashi, and sesame seeds) on each table. Very nice touch! They have 3 different types of noodles: 1. Deluxe Tsukemen ~ Dipping sauce and broth on the side. 2. Aburasoba ~ No broth, and the noodles are eaten dry. 3. Tonkotsu Ramen ~ Ramen noodles with broth. For the special bogo deal on appetizers, there were 6 to choose from: 1. Takoyaki (5) 2. Edamame 3. Langostino 4. Chicken Kaarage (5) 5. Shrimp Swirl Pop (3) 6. Tuna tartare (weekends only) ***OUR PICKS*** CHICKEN KAARAGE ~ 5 pieces of chicken. LANGOSTINO ~ about a dozen bite sized pieces. (Like popcorn shrimp) Appetizers were nice little bites before the main course. The langostino was crispy with a light batter. The fried chicken didn't have much of a batter and it was tender and juicy. Spicy sriracha mayo comes as a dipping sauce. 4/5 BLACK GARLIC TONKOTSU RAMEN ~ I love black garlic and was set on getting this! It was good but it didn't blow me away. Noodles weren't as chewy as I would have liked and the broth wasn't as garlicky either. However, they give you a whole jammy egg, which was very satisfying. And you can load your bowl with crispy garlic and sesame seeds, and even add chili oil too, if you'd like. 4/5 DELUXE TSUKEMEN (SPICY) ~ the waitress told us since this is a specialty and not many restaurants have tsukemen, that we should try this. It's heavy handed on the bonito, so you better like bonito! My guy doesn't care for it, but we didn't know that was the main ingredient in the dipping sauce. However, I don't mind bonito and thought it was good. But I think it should be noted that the sauce is made with bonito, so customers would know what to expect. 3.5/5 I appreciate how they incorporated the self serve water and condiments like they do in Japan. I'd like to note that the condiments were already low when we got there at 6 pm. Checking the condiment levels after each customer leaves might be necessary. That could be done while they wipe down the tables so it would make things more efficient rather than filling it up when a customer has run out while eating. One thing less to do, especially when it is busy. I wish they had the tuna tartare appetizer. It's only available during the weekends. Most of the appetizers are deep fried and if you're not a fan of deep fried foods, the choices are limited. Maybe they will switch up the appetizers every now and then for variety. I believe they're still working out the kinks during their soft opening. Hopefully, things go well for them. If we're in this area, we'd come again to try other things on their menu.

Very nice service here and the BOGO on appetizers was nice. We got the tuna tartare and it was well-seasoned. It came with a chip that was somewhat sunchip-like. I got the spicy miso tsukemen. I really like that the broth comes on a burner, so it stay warm. It wasn't that spicy but it had good umami. I don't think it beats Shugestu that used to be in San Mateo, but it's probably one of the better tsukemen spots in the peninsula.

Loved their take on tsukemen! There was no wait when we came and service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the deluxe tsukemen which we all enjoyed. The dipping broth is kept warm in a ceramic bowl using a tea light which I definitely appreciated because who wants cold broth!? The noodles were delicious - perfectly thick and had a nice bite to it. The broth wasn't too salty. The chicken broth served on the side for sipping complimented the tsukemen and cut the saltiness from the broth. I'm drooling just thinking about it. We'll definitely be back.

    Tsukemen + various appetizers. Delicious!

Solid ramen tucked away inside a residential area. I think they're pretty new but overall a solid bowl of ramen + regulars. I got the deluxe tsukemen on their recommendation, and though I'm not usually a tsukemen eater, I thought it was very solid! The noodles were significantly chewier than the regular ramen noodles which my friend ordered, and the broth clung to the noodles well. Still don't think tsukemen's my thing (I love broth) but it was tasty, especially when adding the umami powder and the additional cup of chicken broth on the side. Overall solid and filling. They also have specials on their appetizers, and I couldn't help but get the karaage, which was crispy, hot and delicious and the edamame, which was nothing special but at least there was a ton of it. No complaints here either. Overall a solid ramen spot that, though they're up to serious competition in San Mateo county, should serve the Foster City area well. --- sweet: delicious, thicccc tsukemen! bitter: regular ramen noodles a bit lacking in chew, edamame kinda boring

I was excited to try a tsukemen outside of DT San Mateo with easier parking. We tried their tsukemen and aburasoba. Service was attentive and the place still felt new. Tableware was quite cute. Tables were set apart so it felt spacious in the restaurant. Overall, I'm a fan of their noodles which were specially made for them. I felt their flavors for broth and seasonings were a bit different to what I'm typically used to. There was also citrus provided which I think is good for people who want a more refreshing experience. The egg was well cooked and charsiu was tasty. Probably will try their tonkatsu next time.

Pretty good for a ramen craving. We dropped in a bit before 7pm on a Thursday. It wasn't busy at all. Maybe only 2 other tables were taken. Fast service. The ramen came out in like 5-10 mins. We got the black garlic tonkotsu and spicy mos tonkotsu. The spicy miso wasn't that spicy. Nice al dente noodles. Chasu wasn't the most tender. Loved the fried garlic container on the table. The only complaint is that the ramen broth wasn't hot. But the noodles were hot. Kind of odd that the whole bowl wasn't hot. We also ordered a 350 ml bottle of $46 dassai sake. Nice Chinese staff. They even have omakase set that I want to try next time.

My tsukemen was delicious! I only have gotten it before during their soft opening when they were doing takeout only, and I'm glad I came back to dine in. The tsukemen sauce itself was deeply savory and not too spicy at all, though I guess some others who are spicy-averse might want to steer clear of it. I love the texture of the noodles too. I especially appreciate that the sauce comes with a candle set up so it stays warm. I did talk to the server a few times, and she's extremely friendly. I also ordered a chicken kaarage to go at the end of my meal (my bad) for my boyfriend, and he said it was great. Next time, coming in for the new chicken paitan ramen (actually my favorite kind of ramen)!

Because this place had such raving reviews, I was really looking forward to trying it. I like how it's located in Foster City, away from the very busy Downtown San Mateo area. However, I thought this ramen place was average. I didn't find the ramen that special or anything that made me want to come back again, especially with the ones in San Mateo that I keep going back to. The noodles were chewy, but it didn't feel fresh or homemade to me? Not sure what it was. The broth was typical tonkotsu broth, but I wanted something richer. The servers were nice to us though. Since it was still their grand opening, we got the deal where we can try a free appetizer. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo, but the karaage was decent. I think I enjoyed it more than the meal itself.

OK...this is bit confusing... Tsukira Ramen is part of 808 Zone: Same owners / chefs. 808 Zone is the actual venue, and does Omakase 3 nights a week. However DOZO SUSHI shows up on your card statement, so don't be alarmed, same place. I'm not certain if they are going to turn the rest of the venue into a dedicated Ramen restaurant... They are still experimenting and testing things out. Some very hard working and honest folks. Very friendly and family like atmosphere. They ask for your honest feedback so they can improve. #Ramen: ~ Blue Fin Tuna BONUS - 4/5 (Sept. 26, 2025) A little welcome bonus on this day only for the first 20 guests! No complaints! (ツ) ~ TAKOYAKI - 3.5/5 I'm spoiled when it comes to Takoyaki. One of my fave street snacks in Japan. This was OK for me. The surrounding batter was a bit more dense than I prefer and the Tako pieces were bit lean. ~ DELUXE TSUKEMEN - 4/5 Just a solid bowl of Tsukemen Ramen. The noodles were thick and accompanied with a separate bowl of rich, concentrated dipping broth. The bowl comes with a couple of Chashu Pork slices, Ajitama, Menma, and a wedge of lime topped with Green Onions. They also bring you a separate cup with warm soup. Dip and enjoy! ~ BLACK GARLIC TONKOTSU RAMEN - 4.5/5 ONE-DAY ONLY Special (Sept. 26, 2025) I think they were experimenting with this one. It wasn't on the menu, but it was part of the promo email that went out earlier in the day. "If you ask us we'll make it for you" We certainly asked! This was probably one of top 3 Black Garlic broths I ever tasted. DELISH! I do hope they offer this as a regular staple on their menu. Perfectly balanced, not too strong or pungent or salty. The only knock for me; Ajitama could be marinated longer, didn't have as much flavor. I'll be back!

The classic ramen was comforting and well-balanced, with a rich broth and noodles that had a nice chewy texture. It's a solid, no-frills bowl that delivers on flavor and warmth. The soft shell crab ramen stood out the most. The crab was crispy on the outside and tender inside, adding a unique texture and flavor that paired really well with the broth. It felt more elevated and interesting compared to a standard ramen bowl. The karaage was also crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, making it a great side to share alongside the ramen. Service was friendly and efficient, and the staff kept things moving even when it got busy. The vibe is casual and lively, with a popular local ramen shop feel. It's the kind of place that's great for a comforting meal without being too formal. Overall, a great spot for ramen lovers, especially if you want both classic and more creative options in one visit. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

The broth is super flavorful, smoky, and roasty. Keep in mind the broth does err on the more oily side for the more health-conscious folks, and I wouldn't wear white, as the broth might splash back as you eat! The restaurant doesn't have a flashy storefront and is rather more hidden in the marketplace it's in. Be cautious about leaving valuables in your car. You mix up the egg with the melange of ingredients resulting in a pasta sauce of sorts. My dish was sweet since the ground chicken seems to have been cooked in a teriyaki-type sauce. After a few bites, I added in some sesame seeds and garlic seasoning. After a little more time, I added in some vinegar - this helped balance the flavor more. For me, this dish was disappointing. The noodles were okay. But after half a bowl, the dish was really boring. It's like eating a big bowl of pasta Bolognese. A few bites if the same flavor and I wanted to have something else. The service was so-so. I was not offered the free tea (unlike my neighbors who were both males). I had to ask for it. At the end, I had to flag a server for my bill. The food here at Kajiken is not inexpensive. The line must be due to the dishes being different from traditional ramen with soup. But for me, I will likely stay on the savory ramen-with-soup-fan side rather be a sweet-dry-noodle fan side.

They have multiple appetizers to choose from - one of our personal favorites is their vegetarian gyoza. I've dined in a few times, and the servers are quick and on top of it all. Considering it's a small location with fewer seats, it gets pretty busy in there. So lately I've done take-out. Even then, food is consistent and always hits the spot!

Fast forward, it's Mom's Day, kids having meals on their own as parents, our celebration is to go somewhere good to have a meal, no lines (didn't make a res), kinda spontaneous. Hanabi fits the bill. Ordered the pork belly ramen ( looked really good at a neighboring table) and the Mayu-ramen, spicy, with kfc chicken (not what you think, means something else), both with a miso base. Wait was reasonable, time to get a table was 30 seconds tops. Other nights it's been jammed but not Mom's Day, just quiet, enjoyable. Both meals were spectacularly reasonable, serving what you'd want, with enough of everything to want to dive in because you were pretty assured you were going to be satisfied. Not fru-fru or bougie, ingredients that make the dish memorable yet feel you are knowledgeable and appreciated. Pork belly was soft, fatty yet lean, cooked well enough to be tender, yet with a little chew (not disintegrating like some bellies), lots of noodles al dente so you appreciate the noodle was not a mushy mass in the bowl like some places. The Mayu came with 3 drumsticks burning hot from the fryer but oh so good because it's served in a separate dish so it doesn't get soggy. The spicy is good enough to keep things interesting with losing its identity (unlike a lot of places). And they give plenty of ramen because it's that good. We keep coming back because they serve no-frills, you-can-bank-on-it ramen that is satisfying, consistent; staff is friendly without being overbearing. It's not a big place, tables and a counter, but they know how to keep diners happy and coming back for more. What more can you ask for? Thanks, Hanabi, will definitely be back!
