My fellow and I had a little weekend vacation that left us in Anacortes for the night. With all the great reviews for quite a few restaurants in town, we weren't sure what to choose. We decided that pizza and sandwiches sounded great, and being that I lived in Hawaii for almost 20 years, I was really curious about this place, especially since they have successful restaurants elsewhere in the state. When we got there around 6/6:30, there was no one there. Which was a little worrisome. We grabbed a couple menus and sat down at a table to figure out what sounded good. I wouldn't necessarily call this place a Hawaiian restaurant, but Hawaiian flavor inspired. Which is still a-okay by me. We ordered the Hawaiian bread cheese ball appetizer and the Hawaiian meatballs, and also a small mac and cheese pizza (that has bbq sauce drizzled over it). People eventually started filtering in, so the worrisome aspect was no longer concerning. The cheese ball app was phenomenal. While they are not breadsticks, it's what I want all cheesy breadsticks to be. That yummy burnt cheese on the edges and tops, light, fluffy, and bready on the inside... I had to stop at one so I could focus on the pizza. That pizza. Oh man. The crust was amazing. I wish all pan pizzas offered by other restaurants could take a note from Coconut Kenny's. So crunchy and buttery and perfect. The mac and cheese and bbq sauce were an interesting combination. I'm not much of a sweet bbq sauce fan, but it worked. Definitely a place we'd recommend to others looking for a fun place to try. They really are just a few appetizers, salads, pizzas, and sandwich, but they have a great assortment of flavor combinations. I was underwhelmed with this restaurant. Since it's called Coconut Kennys, I thought there would be some island food but nothing stood out. No spam, no fish (there is one item shrimp on it - shrimp pizza) and I don't think there was a single food item with coconut in it! There's a lot of barbecue sauce/pineapple combinations in the menu items though. I went here for dinner and got the 7 inch Bora Bora pizza and the Catalina salad. Both plates tasted fine but felt like something I could make at home. I split them both with my sister and they were good portion sizes for sharing. The pizza was decently priced at about $8.50 but the salad was overpriced in my opinion. It was clean inside and seemed like it would be a good place for kids and large groups. We have three small children, so I planned well in advance to place an online order in time for us t fetch food and get to the ferry for our reserved ferry departure time. I did this 90 minutes in advance, and set a pickup time of 1:00pm. I arrived at 1:15p to pick up the order and, lo and behold, the cashier advises, "I'm sorry, our computer doesn't seem to have picked it up, we don't have it." Then she pressed a button and said, "oh there it is, it must have been stuck." And that was that. We didn't have time to wait 20min for an order, so off we went, for a 3-6 hour journey ahead (awaiting ferry lines), without food. And not even an offer of accommodation or a discount for next time, etc.--despite my obvious frustration and the dire inconvenience that this blunder (on the restaurant's part) caused. What kind of customer service is that? What is the point of a computer order system that... "doesn't work?" There were hardly two parties even being served in the restaurant at the time, there isn't some regular review of incoming orders to assess whether orders are "stuck?" I am extremely disappointed, both in the blunder that left us with a car full of hungry kids, and the unfortunate, somewhat blasé response. Ive lived in Anacortes for 2 years and have somehow overlook this place until my wife talked me into it last night. Let me say, best nachos I've ever had, the pizza is the perfect cross between crunch and softness. And dinner for my family including dessert was only 36 dollars!!! 5 Stars will eat there many more times read more

It was our 1st time at any Coconut Kenny's. The customer service was awesome, seriously even if the food was eh the woman working (Lily) was so fantastic we would've been back anyways. That leads me to the food... we both got Killer BBQ Pork Sandwiches which live up to the name. My Mom and I hunt down BBQ Pork Sandwiches all over and these were some of the best. I love the ability to order smaller or larger portions so kudus to Coconut Kenny's for doing that. One full sandwich is two meals! We got lunch & dinner plus drinks for two people for $30. Why would there be yet another pizza joint in the small town of Anacortes? After three and a half pizza places on the island. Making our order and hearing that it would be fifteen minutes on a friday evening at dinner time made me think if some of the other people in town had the same thoughts. Then getting the big square like pizza home and digging into it and the huge amount of oil that came with it gave us second thoughts about the whole idea of going back. My family wanted to give it another try though, this time though, at the restaurant. The week we went, we had a couple family members come into town for a visit and wanted some pizza. It worked out better than expected, just not the pizza we had expected. They had something with the dessert style but that was just not enough to make us come back again. This place isn't bad, but they take an extremely long time to make a pizza. Don't go here if you have hungry kids or if the restaurant has a fair amount of customers inside. They have plenty of people to take orders but not enough to make them. On top of that they had no sandwich bread or cheese balls which limited what we could order from the menu. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this establishment. I ordered the pepperoni pizza and it was beautiful to say the least, just like our server, who was masterful. I think her name was Fiona. Staff is great! Had an excellent experience both times I have been. Check out their happy hour and daily specials. $4 off large pizza on Sunday's is awesome. They hook you up with ranch and pizza peppers and aren't stingy. The crust and overall pizzas are fantastic! Gluten free is probably the best I've ever had. We just tried the restaurant. Thank goodness for a new restaurant in town. The pull pork sandwich for 6.99 and homemade bread is the best in town!
