We were passing through town last week and this spot was perfect. I got a ham sub that was HEFTY and stacked w good quality veggies, my wife got the PB+J that was definitely not just a menu afterthought as it is some places: this thing was overstuffed w peanut butter and jelly on PERFECT bread. This thing could be used as a projectile weapon- it's solid as heck Sadly we live across the country and cannot sample everything on this menu. Great shop!

I perused the menu on a large chalkboard and chose the Emmer Spaghetti and added the optional meatballs. While waiting for my meal I discovered that they might have cannolis! I asked about getting a cannoli and was told that they would need to see if there was enough ingredients for one. I was in luck and was able to order one! The spaghetti was very well prepared and cooked. I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and the homemade pasta. The meatballs were the highlight in my opinion! The background music was playing "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang and there's a line that asks "what is your pleasure" and I thought "right now? This meatball and the spaghetti!" Then I was handed my cannoli and I was amazed at the flavors and textures! One end was dipped in chocolate chips and the other end in pistachio pieces ! The filling had a slight citrus flavor and of course the shell was nice and crispy. I was very pleased with the meal and dessert. In the photo you may notice that my spaghetti was served in a plastic container. Keep in mind The Chef in the Black Bandana just opened 8 days ago and they are still working through the startup process. In fact, their official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting is April 26th.

As for food we ordered the Emmer Spaghetti, Summer Cavatelli and Spicy Milano. The pastas were very fresh tasting, as they make the pasta in house themselves. I found the Cavatelli to be well balanced. It was a great carrier for the fresh heirloom tomatoes and english peas. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly al dente. The sandwich was fantastic. They make the bread in house and it definitely shows in all the best ways. It was crusty, chewy and a great vessel for the meat. The only qualm I have about the place is the price; it feels a bit high for what you receive, especially in the case of the spaghetti. Over all I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual Italian deli with fresh house made food, and who doesn't mind spending a little extra to support a small business.

Terrible experience. The employees there were clueless and disrespectful. Took three minutes just to order our three meat pizza with pineapple because the cashier was so out of it. No other customers except those through delivery. 20 minutes to get our pizza made. Finally got the pizza, walk out to the car with my mother and sister, open the box to take a piece before we hit the road, and no pineapple. Sent my sister to go back in and get it fixed, a girl replaced the boy as cashier and took my sister's order again. Another 15 minutes of waiting, the second pizza was ready, again my sister came out expecting to drive off with a slice in hand, and there was no meat, just cheese and pineapple. Sent the sister back in to retrieve our money since at this point we just wanted to get home. Can't imagine how many pizzas were screwed up out of the dozens we saw going out with delivery people. The entire time the employees were constantly laughing loudly at some of the oddest things... like an empty pizza box. Would swear they were high to be this messed up. Worst part of all was that this was our choice of greasy first meal back from a five day hike.
