One Star is generous! This was for a 1 night stay on January 18, 2026. I had thought that our situation might be unique but as i read so many similar experiences, I've decided to warn others as well. 1) We arrived way before "late check-out" time, yet the office was closed. A posted phone number of the apparent on-site manager was not answered and never returned. There were three couples awaiting a call back from the number(s) left on the office window. It took us all 45 minutes (!) in the buggy dusk to finally connect with a responsible person (NY?) who advised that we all should have rec'd email instructions...we did not -- so he explained how to use the night key boxes. By then we were all upset at the inconvenience and disorganization. 2) the room smelled terribly; couldn't identify it but all our clothes and suitcase absorbed the odor. Took days to air out! Nowhere to complain after hours. 3) Two queen beds were made nicely BUT one was covered with tiny dead bugs. Really?? Therefore the bed was useless. 4) The bathroom sink and toilet had been cleaned but toilet was poorly maintained and rusty, as well as the shower head. 5) ALL the furniture surfaces were covered with a disgusting sticky residue, forcing us to place our CPAP machines on a towel on the only one bedside table provided. 6) The lamp base on that bedside table was covered with some dark, dried sticky substance that appeared as some spilled liquid (Coke??) that might have been spilled on it some time ago and allowed to dry. The whole table was disgusting in this regard. And also the plastic cover on the elec clock fell off when I tried to clean under it. Good that we had brought sanitizer wipes! 7) One of the TV legs was broken and I advised a cleaning lady. She was unaware. 8) Some minor issues like a burned out light bulb, arbitrary and missing bathroom amenities, but indicators that the room is poorly maintained. My family and I were only staying one night in the Keys and budget was a primary concern with how much we were spending on our entire trip to Florida. One of the cheaper options ("cheaper" meaning $265 after fees) that had decent reviews was Creekside Inn, so I booked a room with two queen beds. The email I received after booking the room says the office is only open 9am to 9pm. I knew we might be arriving late from Miami, so I called earlier in the day and they gave me instructions on how to get our room key just in case and told me to stop by the next morning to fill out the registration paperwork. We ended up getting to the hotel at 8:35pm only to find the office was already closed. Kind of frustrating because I knew we were leaving before 9am the next morning and didn't want to have to stop back. It ended up delaying us leaving town later the next day when we did stop. The room was underwhelming. There was little water pressure in the sink, so it made brushing teeth and washing hands difficult. The beds certainly weren't the definition of comfortable. I get that having tile flooring in the bedroom makes it easier to clean for the staff, but carpeting would be appreciated. The best part of the stay was the view of the creek behind the building, but that was for the 20 seconds we saw it while we walked to and from our room. If price is your main consideration, Creekside Inn may be right for you. If I come back to the Keys, though, I would look elsewhere even if it means spending more. read more

Worst hotel experience of my life! Unbelievably filthy, dirty, and couldn't even shower because there was a little hot water and barely any water pressure. Had to leave the next morning and find another place to stay for the week. Even the grounds were littered with trash. No response from calling the "on-call" maintenance / service personnel. Windows and drapes had to be closed tight because the bath and main room are in clear view of anyone walking by. Furniture was uncomfortable, old and literally sticky. It's insane that there actually a few good reviews for this place. I wish I could post my pictures of this inhabitable resort so you can see the evidence. read more

Pictures on third party apps as well as main site show the rooms to be bigger then they are. Room 131 is approximately 50sqft in total with a king size bed that takes up all space. There's no where to put luggage at all. The closet is occupied by the mini fridge and microwave. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Thankfully we were able to receive a refund for nights we canceled but lost one night and stayed with friends. read more

Hidden gem! Small quaint inn right on the water with docks right at your door and a 2 minute ride to Tavenier Creek which is two minutes to ocean side and 19'to the bay... Ronnie and his staff spared no expense to make us welcome and comfortable ... although its an older inn it was clean and comfortable with 2 beautiful pools and shops and restaurants in walking distance.. we will definitely be coming back! I unfortunately can't recommend Creekside Inn in Islamorada. From the moment I arrived, the place just gave me the heebie-jeebies. The hotel itself was pretty mediocre--nothing special, and potentially worth the price. To make matters worse, I found a stain on my bed, which was pretty off-putting. The shower wasn't much better, it felt a bit gross and definitely in need of a deep clean. Overall, my stay here was disappointing and not what I expected for a relaxing trip to the Keys. There are definitely better options nearby. The views from the back of the property were nice, if you need a place for one night and you're not spending too much time in the room- go for it read more

The place is well located right in front of a canal and close to everything around Islamorada. The room was updated with a comfortable bed and was clean. The 2 pool areas were nice! They seem to be in the process of updating more things. There is a kayak rental area right next to it and a bar & grill. We would stay here again! read more

This was by far the filthiest hotel I have ever been in. We booked last minute on Expedia for $278 and expected an old hotel but at least clean. As I said by far the filthiest place I've ever been in. It was disgusting!! Went to the desk and he gave me two more rooms to look at. They were just as bad as the first. We walked out and never looked back. Don't ever ever go there. The floors were slimy and the bedding was stained. See pictures still trying to get my money back through Expedia. This stay was absolutely atrocious and I do not believe these other reviews are staged!!! There was only one friendly staff person and we only saw her 1 day, and the rest of the staff was ridiculously rude and just plain nasty!!! All of their information is incorrect and they are proof that you can take good pictures. They advertise breakfast, and they don't have a restaurant!! They advertise shops onsite. WHERE?!?! They are a rag tag location and now we know why they draw you in with fake information and low prices. I hope you take this as a true warning NOT TO STAY HERE!!!! I liked the rooms, they weren't fancy but they were clean and comfortable. The ice machine was broken which was annoying after a long day we couldn't enjoy a cold beverage. The pool was clean and refreshing. There was a little restaurant near with a GREAT breakfast. And a store with cute stuff! We were able to dock out boat right outside the room which was nice, they charge over 4$ a foot for your boat, the true negative is that they have no cleats to tie on you tie on postsnon the sea wall, the worst part of that are the HUGE BOLTS, that knock the crap out of your boat, make sure you bring extra fenders! Suggestions to the mgmt: wrap those posts if you expect to make that much money from boaters, we would love to go back but it's not worth damaging our prized possession. read more

We found a dirty sock in our room from (I'm assuming) a previous tenant, the sink faucet was loose enough that we had a hard time washing our hands/brushing teeth/etc. Toilet had issues refilling the tank, hand to manually fill it ourselves. Stains on the floor next to/under the bed. Stains on the walls too. Paper thin walls, you can hear just normal conversation in the neighboring room, little kids just quietly babbling is heard very clearly. If I could speak Spanish I would easily understand the entire conversation of the people in the neighboring room. Parking lot has rocks, not "gravel", seriously worried us about our tires. There was a light right outside the window that made us feel like the sun was up literally all night long. It's very hard to sleep through the night when it feels like 9am at all times. I'm lowkey afraid of losing the $200 security deposit because of the condition the room was in when we got here. read more

Hotel rooms look newly renovated. It's in a great location and is a perfect spot to sleep. Tip- bring some wine or booze. There is a cute sitting area on the canal with a three small individual tables each with two chairs. Perfect spot to wine down for the night. Restaurants: What The Fish Rolls- Check this out! It's waking distance from hotel. Amazing fresh fish. They have beer & wine too. Made To Order- great spot for breakfast. Located in same parking lot as hotel. The Mar Bar- good spot for a small snack and drink. They don't have a full menu. Place is located in hotel. Paddle boarding: Located on site. They open at 10am. The canal is perfect for paddle boarding. Very calm water. Rooms: The beds are on the harder side, but are comfortable. The pillows are plush and nice to sleep on. Coffee machine in room with a small fridge and freezer. TV in room with cable. WiFi- not great service. Bathroom: Nice, but could use some updating in the shower. Small hair dryer on wall. read more

The toilet did not work, they had no other rooms to switch us and offered to fix the following day! the maintenance man came mid morning and left our room smelling of smoke to the level you couldn't stop sneezing & the toilet still didn't work! This is so unacceptable we found another place to stay at this point and they will not refund us! They only said someone must have flushed food down the toilet!! This was not only poor customer service but beyond unacceptable to not have a functional Toilet!! We are so disappointed about this place and HORRIBLE experience!!! read more

Planned a weekend getaway to explore the Keys but didn't setup accommodations until last minute. Big mistake. The Creekside Inn was the only place with availability left in the Keys and the price for a room definitely reflected that. We paid a premium to be able to stay at your facility that night and expected a certain level of quality that was not met. Initially, we arrived to this motel at about 2PM to find out we could not check in until about 4PM (after seeing some other guests check in prior). We understand we may have been in a different style room - no big deal. Finally, at 4PM, is when we arrived in our room to find it obviously untouched with beer and dirty face masks and upside pizza tossed throughout. If it truly were the case that they were behind on housekeeping, as the front desk, Heather, mentioned, why would we still be given the keys? You would also think the staff would offer to contact us when the room would be ready. Instead, we had to keep checking back with the front desk. We opened the door to our room to an uncovered pizza pressed into the floor. Their staff had five hours to clean the room. To have to walk into a dirty room during a pandemic, especially, is unfair and a risk to our health. It is short-sighted to think anything less than that. Any accommodation that I asked for during this time was rejected as well. A towel to use to wait by pool while the room was finally cleaned, use of the bathroom. Once the room was cleaned, it's STILL smelled like piss. I've never seen such a lack of service from a hotel and we were nothing but respectful and patient. We had a restaurant reservation at 6 that we had to miss because we weren't able to get ready. On top of this, one of the swimming pools was closed without warning on your website. I just find this all to be a disgusting display of greed and a heavy blunder on your part that warrants reparation. When we expressed our disappointment, Heather stated that she spoke to her manager and no compensation would be provided. (Who knows if she actually spoke to her or if this is a normal response she's been instructed to give.) When we called and emailed to express our disappointment and concerns - radio silence. To put it clearly, Laura, management and the Creekside Inn truly don't hold an ounce of care or respect for their guests. If you have your choice and you're not desperate, please pass on this place - they absolutely don't have any respect for their customers. TripAdvisor does a great job of collecting all of their less than stellar reviews for you to come to your own conclusion about the business of this hotel. Guests are an afterthought if that. They demand a non-refundable booking fee because they're so confident that your stay will disappoint. *P.S. The travel channel documented how bad management and customer service is in their series "Hotel Impossible." Absolutely wild how everything that was touched on in their series regarding management and guest relations at this place in 2014 is still true. Nothing at all has changed. I'm not sure about all the bad reviews. This place isn't bad at all. The rooms were spacious, you have a mini-fridge and microwave, a small table with chairs and a closet. The bed is very very VERY firm. The ice machine doesn't work but all you need to do is go to the lobby and get two bags of ice out of the cooler. They'll also give you plates if you ask. The people in the lobby were very nice to us. They do charge a 200 dollar deposit which is wild to us but neither of us smoke or did anything to ruin the room so no biggie there. I'll update the review when I see how long it took to drop off. Edited to add: they released my deposit in one day. Great place. I say give it a try. read more

2022 December We are a small family that stayed at the Creekside Inn of Florida in December of 2022. Although our stay was very short, it was completely unpleasant. Here are some points you may want to consider before staying here: *** OUTDATED HUMID ROOM *** Although the room was neat and tidy, it is outdated with lazy maintenance. The room was very humid even though our stay was during a time of un humid climate. Damage from cleaning-chemicals can be seen on the [furniture/drawers/tv/etc.], and can be felt on the sticky tile floors. Loud A/C. Safe-box was non-functioning *** NEGLECTED MAINTENANCE OF BATHROOM *** Although well-stocked in toiletries, the bathroom displays obvious signs of neglect such as: malfunctioned toilet / rusting around metal / mildew stains on shower curtain / etc. After flushing, the toilet continued running due to its malfunctioned setup. We had to manually reset the valve every time we flushed ~ during our entire stay. *** ODOR *** The bathroom emits a strong overwhelming odor (urine?!) and is the main reason our stay was nearly unbearable. Even keeping its door shut wasn't at all helpful. *** LOUD *** We could hear through to the outside (traffic) as if the rooms' walls don't even exist. *** NO WIFI *** No working WIFI (their main one AND their backup one) for our entire stay. *** UNDERSTAFFED / UNACCOMODATING *** Had to run multiple rounds around the entire inn before finding a staff member; something we had to resort to doing as they were not always reachable by phone. The staff, although polite, were unaccommodating to the points listed in this review. After approaching them about the points, they stated they would send someone over to our room to address each problem, but no one showed up. Upon checkout, staff again could not be found, and a literal sign at the main office indicated to just leave behind your rooms' key there. *** SNEAKY OVER CHARGES *** After checkout, we were charged $56+ for supposedly damaging 2 towels. A penalty fee is understandable, but at that charge: completely senseless! Really feel as though they're just thinking up ways to rake in more money from their guests during their slow season. __________ Conclusively, avoid staying here if you can. Due to weather, we missed a connecting flight to San Juan in Ft. Lauderdale. Decided to just rent a car and hang out in the Keys for the week. Finding lodging was part of the adventure. Creekside took advantage of our situation. When I called to inquire about availability, the gentleman told me he only had one room available, that it had just been released, so he was discounting it (more than likely, a last minute cancellation for which they had already received & retained payment). When asked, he said they did have restaurant on site and just down the boardwalk, a popular local bar. Sounded good. Said $409 was the most he could discount it, but for another $50, we could get a waterfront room with balcony. (thought they only had one room) Fine - booked it. Later, while having dinner & drinks in Islamorada, received a call from them saying they had an additional upgrade for us, as someone else wanted the King bed, would we be ok with 2 queens. Sure. Soooo, checked in. $516.37 total charge to basically sleep. - discount and upgrade? First, it appears that all rooms are waterfront - to a small canal - basically looking at homes across the street (canal). Not sure how this was $50 more?! And room VERY BASIC. Dated. Balcony very small. I actually called down to the desk and said, this is NOT a $500 room. Was not even clean. Dust & children's toys (blocks) under the bed. Walked to the 'popular local bar'. - could not find it. finally found a sign, a small open air bar behind some connected offices, 3 people were there...ok it was a bar, and they were probably local. Thought we'd use the pool the next morning, laughingly, at this cost, should use the amenities, right? There is a pool, boxed in with privacy fence on all sides, nice breeze 'out there' - but couldn't make it through the fence panels. Fortunately, our next destination, just up the road, was happy to let us come early and enjoy all the amenities until our room was ready. We got outta there! Throughout the week, we stayed at 5 different resorts/inns/hotels. This was our only bad experience. Had the least amenities, least desirable room accommodation, least friendly, not to mention dishonest staff, the only room 'not clean', and the most expensive by a large margin. read more

It's a place to sleep. Is it a comfortable place to sleep? Not necessarily. No bars. I advised them that this was a honeymoon and they forgot. For what they charge, they could at least provide a shower that has more than 5 streams of water. Maybe even a toilet that has more of a circumference than 6 inches. The bed was firm... like a rock. The pillows had the most familiar feel to it. Felt like cardboard. I was afraid if I folded the pillow in half it would tear. Don't drool on it, it may disintegrate (just a theory). This place is a crack den. The wifi stinks and knocks you off constantly. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The price was high because of "season" and it truly looks like a Hialeah efficiency. There is a coffee machine from 1980 and there are no cups! The bedspread is from 1980 as well. There's a reason this was the only place with rooms available. Should have taken that as a red flag. Knowing what I know now, I would have paid more for a different room or slept in my car. Even with the privacy sign on the door, the front desk called me in the middle of the day to ask whether we wanted the room serviced! "Who does that?" I thought to myself. "The privacy sign has universal meaning, globally." I called back within six minutes and left a voicemail to confirm the sign says 'Privacy' and that is indeed what I want. I also called to follow up a few minutes later, and spoke with front desk to confirm verbally. When I got back to my room a few hours later, things had clearly been removed! Called the front desk and they said housekeeping must have been in there while we were playing phone tag. Except phone tag took six minutes and the room wasn't serviced. Whoever it was that entered and didn't leave a note to acknowledge any emergency or reason for entering, just took stuff! Front desk tried to blame housekeeping. Nice. Went down to the office the next morning and Darlene, the 'manager' on duty, said housekeeping was already spoken to about the incident, but then followed up to say the order to enter the room came from "the higher ups" because they wanted a dehumidifier they had left in the room. What? So, in the same breath, she blamed housekeeping for wrongdoing AND claimed full permission to enter from the "higher-ups." I explained that means front desk lied about being confused about the privacy sign, and Darlene is either lying about talking to housekeeping, or she is lying about it coming from nameless "higher ups." BTW, I would have gladly given permission to retrieve the dehumidifier if they had been honest about what they needed. Except they didn't just retrieve the dehumidifier. Either way, these people have a culture of blaming each other and entering rooms, even with the privacy sign - and taking things! We had expensive scuba gear and refrigerated medication that could not be left in the safe. I had to do a careful audit of my belongings. Aside from taking their dehumidifier back and trying to lie about it, whomever they sent also took the medication in the fridge. I asked that the GM call me, which, of course, didn't happen. It was more effort to call the police than to just replace the medication, but guests should be warned. . . This hotel does NOT respect privacy or safety. At least two people, front desk and the manager, Darlene, are completely comfortable with lying and dodging any reasonable acknowledgement of wrongdoing. Plus, poor housekeeping is clearly their scapegoat, even when they have been caught in a lie, in person, face-to-face! Who does that? *Not that it matters, given the lying and stealing, but the room had a dirty rag left on the floor of the bathroom when we arrived, the ice machine is broken but there is no sign, and they were drilling and hammering in the room next door too early in the morning to be called respectful. read more

Our traveling companion booked our rooms and I was a little worried about staying here once I started reading the reviews, but the worry was for naught. The rooms were clean, the water was hot and the bed was fairly comfortable. Our breakfast at the Made to Order restaurant next door was very good. The only negative comment I have is that the room smelled a little musty and the toilet was slow to flush. It's not a 5 star hotel by any means, but for a for a roadside hotel it was better than most. read more

Be careful booking with this place they hold a 200 dollar deposit and then keep it if you do not clean your room to there standard and falsely accuse you of smoking in rooms and claim they have photos but do not provide them when asked I have put a claim in with my bank just be carefully it's not worth a 300 dollar night in a small room! read more

What a quaint Inn to stay at. It is being remodeled and rooms feels a little outdated, but the patio and walking area along the water is great. Even fished off the back side of the Inn with our boys and caught several fish. Great warm up to our deep sea fishing this week. If you just need a spot to stop in and relax and enjoy the island, I'd recommend. Price affordable too. Quiet on the inside so no road noise either. read more

Pleased to have found a nice, clean, spacious room last minute and centrally located. Great spot on the canal and nice quiet, pretty view. Guests were quiet. Looks like the place has been remodeled recently and the grounds were nice too. Price was pretty high but so is everywhere this summer. After seeing the website, with much excitement, I booked a single room with a view. I checked into a very small street level room with no view to the outside world, front or back. The only window was permanently frosted. This was the worst room I've ever stayed in. My request to be moved to a different room was denied. The rear door to the room opened to a beautiful view of the water. Restaurants and stores are conveniently located on both sides of the Inn. Everyone I encountered locally were warm, friendly and delightful. The housekeeping staff were pleasantly accommodating. I know some Spanish which made communicating with the staff easy. Unfortunately, my room had roaches. During my stay, I saw a bug on my bed and end table. My last night there, I turned my light on at 2:30am to find roaches scattering. To prevent importing bugs back to my hometown, I meticulously inspected all my belongings and remained awake with lights until i checked out. Overall, the Creekside Inn is perfectly located in a beautiful area. Management has a lot of work to do before Creekside Inn can even come close to being worthy of its majestic location. read more

The hotel is in poor condition and not because of Irma. The room was over $200.00 per night and expensive for what we received. The beds were lumpy, the towels were not absorbant and the bedding was of very poor quality. There were some pieces of drywall missing in the bathroom. We also were not able to get on the internet and other than in room coffee, the coffee shop does not even open until 8:00 am. The hotel is also far removed from the water and other activities. I will definitely come back to Ismorada, but absolutely stay at another hotel. Holiday Inns offer far better accommodations. The staff however was very nice. read more

Great place right off of the creek with docking for your boat, a restaurant for breakfast and lunch and a couple pools. Room was nice for the rates. Had kitchenette in room but also had grills outside in a common area which was very nice. Would def stay again. Quick access to ocean side or bay side. Fish cleaning station. read more

If you're going to the Keys and have young kids, DO NOT stay here! There's absolutely nothing for them to do and nowhere to play. We also booked through our credit card (mistake) and they wouldn't give us the same price for a all 3 nights so we had to change rooms. At 11am when our room was supposed to be ready, they front desk told me it wasn't ready yet and no idea when it would be. Meanwhile I have two small children desperately needing a nap. Reluctantly I agreed to take a room that was ready.....big mistake. We were moved to another room facing the highway (50yds away) with no balcony & a tiny little bathroom. The pool is nice but not kid friendly and the restaraunt is nothing special. I would never stay here again even if I don't have my kids with me. read more

The rooms have been recently upgraded since the hurricane. The best part of this hotel is the convenience. You can literally pull up to a lower level room by boat and dock less than 10' from your door. Great access by boat to the Atlantic or Florida Bay. There is a very popular local restaurant in the middle of the hotel that serves breakfast and lunch. There is a small bar on the dock by the rooms as well as a bait shop, dive boat charters, and paddle-board/kayak rentals. Close to most amenities on Islamorada. read more
