This has been my always go-to place restaurant when I was a student at the University of Texas at Austin. Located at Guadalupe Street and 20th, this place served authentic Taiwanese foods and drinks. One food item that I always order whenever I come here is Peppercorn Chicken with Rice. It looks extremely simple, but that taste always makes me to come back whenever I visit Austin. Because this is a place that always brings me a memory back, this is my favorite place to visit whenever I am at Austin.

Rating: 3.8/5 [dine in] Took about 15 minutes to order and get our food, and another 15 minutes to eat. They give you a table number and have a whole setup to the right of the ordering counter with condiments, utensils, soup, water, etc. They offer complimentary vegetable soup if you order food and dine in. The soup was actually pretty good--great for sipping on between bites of fatty or fried food. Chicken Nuggets ($8.95): Crispy, Taiwanese-style fried chicken nuggets seasoned with salt, pepper, and fresh Thai basil, served with sweet chili sauce. Tasted pretty authentic, but the portion size was on the smaller side. The nuggets were a good size with a perfectly crispy coating and juicy chicken inside. They also gave a generous amount of fried Thai basil, which paired perfectly with the chicken. Bacon Pork with Rice ($15.95): Braised pork belly served with white rice, boiled eggs, steamed carrots and broccoli, and pickled veggies. Good portion overall. It was a cohesive dish, but just okay--we've had better braised pork belly elsewhere.

Was craving Taiwanese food and this place hits the spot. They even had free soup which tasted pretty authentic. Love the popcorn chicken. Everything else was ok but I'd come back for the chicken and Taiwanese shaved ice.

Cocos what happened??? I giving two for the nice people, the station in the back and I had boba here like 4 years ago that I enjoyed so my hope is that it's still good ( it looks good so maybe i'd come back for boba only) The food LOOKED good but wow was I mistaken. I got the pork belly rice meal and it was quite possibly the worst thing I have eaten ever. The picture on the menu had the pork belly dry so I thought it was like marinated pork belly. When I got my dish, it was smothered in a very unappealing sauce. The pickled veggies were really sweet and look at that egg. You know that egg looks depressing. Eating this made me was to gag and throw up. I was really sad. For studying, there's not outlets anywhere I could see, so charge your devices if you want to study here.

I've been to Coco's Cafe a handful of times and would recommend their rice dish with peppercorn chicken! It's located along the Drag, so is really convenient and close to UT campus. Service is fast - you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. There's a good amount of seating and you can choose where you'd like to sit. Peppercorn Chicken with Rice ($13.95, 5/5) - This has become my go-to order! - Flavor is great with the minced garlic, green onions + onions, jalapeños, red chilis - Good portion sizes, I like that they provide rice and a side of their pickled vegetables along with the chicken In terms of drinks, I've tried their boba before and it was just okay (3/5). Tasted a bit powdery and costed around $7.50. Wouldn't recommend getting the boba here but their rice dishes are consistent and have good flavor!

We got the spicy beef noodle soup which came with an assortment of vegetables. It was pretty good and helped soothe my sore throat at the time. However, I think it was a bit expensive ($17) but it is very close to campus on guad. We also got a small honeydew smoothie with boba which was $8 (still pretty expensive for a small). You have to order at the front and they give you a number for your table of your choosing. The place is a little small and crowded but that's most places on campus. It's cute with indoor and outdoor seating. You also have to put your own dishes away in the back btw. Overall, it's a little expensive but really convenient for students.

Friendly staff and great popcorn chicken. Not the best milk tea or smoothies. We came on a Friday night and were warmly greeted by the cashier. We ordered a popcorn chicken to go and it was delicious. Hot, fresh, crispy, and filled with flavor and lots of sliced fresh chilis. The rice and pickled veggies are as good as ever. I would likely not get their milk tea again because it tastes like it came from a mix. The strawberry banana smoothie was good but a little too much like a slush. If you are looking for a strong tea flavor, you will likely not be happy. However, if you want a standard milk tea that harkens back to the olden days of milk tea in the 90s, this is your go-

Back in town and was excited to revisit this place. Unfortunately it is not as wonderful as it was years ago. It's really killing me to write this low review. First, there was only a fan running and the air was very muggy in the place. We ordered an eel bowl, tofu appetizer and pickled veggies appetizer to go. To my surprise, it came out over $30. Over 25 minute wait. About 10 people got served after we put our order in. I had to ask if they maybe forgot to make my order. Maybe if you were only there to get boba, it would be an o-k experience. If you order food, make sure you have ample time and not in a rush, and be ready to wait in the heat.

Nice spot for some Taiwanese food. Shaved ice was the big hit for us. $6 for fresh ingredients and a large serving. What a bargain! The crispy chicken nuggets were also very nice. Pot stickers and kelp weren't too bad. The free soup was a great touch. Glad we stopped by.

A great spot for boba that's basically an Austin institution at this point considering how quickly things seem to come and go here. Coco's has always been reliably good and I hope they stay around for fifty more years. Or even a hundred.

Dining at Coco's Cafe felt like I was in college again. The humble Taiwanese joint serves iconic street food items, such as beef noodle soup and popcorn chicken, and of course boba. Inside, the place is enveloped in warm colors and nostalgic decor, like college merchandise if I remember correctly lol. There is ample seating too. My friends and I shared scallion pancakes and the popcorn chicken and rice. It was enough to satiate the appetite of three girls, granted we weren't that hungry to begin with. I appreciated the plentiful stir fried green onions and peppers on top of the chicken. It paired wonderfully with the plain white rice. However, I will say the skin on the chicken was a little chewier than I'd like it to be. Flavor was still great though. The scallion pancakes were decent. I haven't had too many to be honest, so I'm not sure how it compares to others. But I wasn't blown away by it. This is a great place to come for a late night talking session with friends. So homey and comforting.

So many memories are created here. Love coming back here when in Austin. Friendly and fast service. Great drink selections, and they are all very delicious (not too icy and watery). My favorite is Peppercorn Chicken with Rice. It's very crispy but not too oily, perfect with pickled vegetables. Yum!

My friend and I came in on a Friday night to get dinner to go around 10 PM. We got a watermelon slushy, a peppercorn chicken with rice and ground pork with rice. The watermelon slushy had a nice flavor but was way too sweet especially with the lychee jelly that we also added to it. The peppercorn chicken had pretty good flavor and the pickled veggies it came with were very delicious. My friend really enjoyed it, The ground pork with rice on the other hand was very disappointing. The pork was so dry and did was way over powered by rice. The best part of the dish was the pickled veggies on top. I also tried to order a papaya milk but they never put my order in for the drink. All in all, an average meal.

My go-to is the Haraz Latte. Iced. While this could never be my every day coffee, it is something I really enjoy and treat myself to when I'm able to go to a Haraz. While exploring the many museums across the University of Texas campus, a quick caffeine break was needed for my girlfriend and we were overwhelmed by the number of options on The Drag. It makes sense that there are plenty of places to choose from because of the large number of UT students. Everyone needs a little coffee in their lives. One of the highest reviewed ones with a large pool of ratings was Lucky Lab Coffee and after checking a few quick reviews, we decided to give it a chance. Lucky Lab has five locations in Austin (four on campus) and one location in Dripping Springs. The one we were at off The Drag was their flagship. This location serves a little bit of everything from sandwiches to pastries, salad to quiche, and of course, coffee. As we walked inside the flagship, it is easy to notice how tight the space is. There is very little seating inside at their bar, but they make up for it with plenty of shaded outdoor space that is perfect for a nice day. Scanning their menu, we landed on some drinks from their winter menu. I was intrigued by their Pomegranate Rosemary Latte while my girlfriend tried their Ginger Spice Mocha. We got them both iced. First, it is interesting to see the fusion of pomegranate and rosemary in a latte. I was intrigued by those flavors. Their drink sizes are 12 oz, 16 oz, and 20 oz, each adding an additional 50 cents to each upgrade. All milk alternatives cost 1 dollar. It was only a short wait to get our coffees and the cup with the little lab on it was cute. I think specialty drinks have an opportunity to be amazing and one of a kind or the worst drink imaginable. This pomegranate rosemary latte did not fall into either category exactly, but leaned more toward the latter. I love pomegranates and I always appreciate how earthy rosemary can be in a coffee. One of my favorite lattes I have ever had has rosemary in it. This was just not working for me. I shamefully did not finish my coffee. As for my girlfriend, she did not like her ginger spice mocha. I could not imagine gingerbread syrup not working in a mocha, but after trying it myself it was not for me either. It seems like a perfect match, but here the gingerbread is competing with the chocolate and instead of complementing each other they clash. She told me that the flavors were "un-mocha like". She drank less than half of her coffee before tossing it as well. Neither of us wanted to dislike Lucky Lab. They seem well established and I felt like they were trustworthy based on reviews, but I wonder what these previous reviewers were tweaking on or what magical concoction of coffee granted from heaven above they were sipping on because we were distraught by how disappointing these drinks were. I would like to give Lucky Lab Coffee Co the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe the specialty drinks were not up to par with their traditional beverages. However, the almost 30 different syrup options on their wall make me feel they lack a little focus and try too hard to stand out. They lose what makes a coffee good, which is coffee. I want to say I will give them a second shot in the future to see if it was just an off day or a bad beverage pick. Too many shots turns a Lucky Lab into Old Yeller. The lab needs to be put on a leash before I think about returning. RIYL: options

I was a little confused when I drove up because I didn't realize that it's inside the Retreat Yoga Studio. There is a neon sign on the window as well as an A-Frame Sign near the entrance to let you know you're in the right place. Parking is plentiful in the shopping center. Because it's in a Yoga Studio, there isn't much seating (though they did have tables set up outside). The vibe was relaxing and calm. I don't know what scent they had in there, but it smelled nice. This wouldn't be a place to study or work as the seating is limited and I didn't see many outlets. There was a small area with bar stools if you need a tabletop, but most of the seating was couches and lounge chairs. It's more of a place to relax or catch up with a friend. I love when coffee shops have signature drinks. I ordered the Cajeta Crème Brûlée Cappuccino. It was so good, but it came in a small cup. The smoky sea salt was delicious! I don't typically care for sea salt in beverages, but it complimented the flavors so well! I asked the barista to sub oat milk which they were able to do but he informed me that some of the ingredients had dairy (which was fine). I appreciated the disclosure. I was able to drink it without any issues. Because my drink was so small, I decided to order a second one. I went with the Ginger Snap Latte (with oat milk) and it was tasty! I didn't like it as much as the Cajeta Crème Brûlée, but it was really good. I was happy that it was served in a larger cup. The space had plants as well as merch like clothing, scented candles, soaps, and jewelry (which was beautiful). The bathrooms were very clean and had feminine hygiene products as well as a basket with bobby pins and hair ties. I love the attention to detail! We were there close to closing time (3 pm). I appreciated that one of the employees let us know that they would be closing without forcing us to get up and leave. It was on par with the gentle and calming vibe of the space.
