Good boba variety, quick service, and a cute seating area inside. I got my drink with light ice and 70% sweetness. It definitely hit the spot!

Decent boba. I got taro milk Tea with sago, regular sugar level, and it's super sweet, a little bit too much for me. Pomelo mango sago smoothie is great and has the perfect sweetness amount when I order with zero added sugar (yes it's still sweet with zero added sugar) Service is alright. I'll be back again if I'm in the area

Looking at pictures online, I was a little wary of Doka, just because everything looked so brightly colored. But hearing all the hype and seeing all the good reviews, I came to try it anyways. And I'm so glad I did! First of all, love that they have a little parking garage area. One of the biggest factors for me deciding to go somewhere is whether I'll be able to find easy parking. And second of all, the drinks really are so delicious! The flavorings don't have that really artificial taste, making them really refreshing, especially in the summer heat. And we tried the sago, which were smaller than we expected, but so bouncy and slightly sweet, and it just made it all the more fun to drink. Plus, they have a little guest book that you can sign, and I just think that's so cute.

As a Taiwanese kid, I cannot express how excited I was when I saw Doka coming to Austin. Every time I walked by, I found myself peeking inside to see if there were any updates on the construction. The moment I saw the logo, I knew this was the brand I grew up with. Doka is how the store name is pronounced in Mandarin. In Taiwan, this store has the English name Coco. Since the name Coco is already taken by another tea shop here, I understand why they went with Doka, even if the name surprised me at first. I checked their Instagram, and seeing the use of traditional Mandarin characters and the menu items I remembered from childhood confirmed it for me. This was exactly the store from my childhood. I came during the soft opening week. The staff told me that the menu is currently limited to ten drinks, so it is not yet the usual mix-and-match format where you choose your tea base and toppings. Even so, this drink menu was enough to bring back strong memories. I ordered the Tropical Special, which has always been my favorite, and I also tried the Popping Blue Moon. The Tropical Special tasted exactly like how I remembered it. It is a passion fruit green tea with coconut jelly and pearls. I have always loved the combination. The coconut jelly was sweet and smooth, and the pearls were cooked to the perfect chewy texture. Huge shoutout--I grew up calling them pearls back home. The Popping Blue Moon is a beautiful drink. It has a mango and lemonade base with lychee poppers and jelly. The flavor was refreshing and well balanced, and I enjoyed it a lot. However, because the name does not give away what is inside, a brief description on the menu or Instagram would be helpful. While I was there, I heard several customers ask about the drink. One of the staff members had to double-check with others to explain it. Some written clarification would make that process smoother for everyone. Doka makes my heart sing. This is the most authentic Taiwanese bubble tea I have had in the United States. Everything about the store feels like home. The logo, the color scheme, the menu design, and the traditional characters all feel true to the brand I knew growing up. I even thought I recognized a familiar Taiwanese accent when I spoke with one of the staff members. If I have one small note, it would be about the sweetness. I ordered both drinks with regular ice and zero added sugar, which is how I usually order my bubble tea. Even so, they still came out a bit sweet for my current taste, likely because the toppings were sweet and I had two in each drink. To be clear, this is exactly how I remember the drinks from when I was younger. My preferences have just changed now that I am older. When I got home, I added more ice and poured the drinks into a larger jar, and that made the sweetness just right. In the future, I hope they will also offer the full customization menu where customers can pick a tea base and choose toppings. That would make the experience absolutely perfect.

I don't think I've ever walked into a boba shop and immediately thought, "wow, this feels like an…read moreexperience," but here we are. The place was SUPER crowded when we arrived, but the line moved surprisingly fast, and there was even a kiosk to self-order if you didn't want to wait for cashier checkout. Efficiency aside, one of my favorite things was honestly the smell of the space. While waiting for our drinks, there was this fragrant tea aroma lingering in the air--you could genuinely smell the tea despite all the cream, milk, and sweetness floating around. As a tea lover, that immediately won me over. The place was also exceptionally clean despite how busy it was. I kept noticing employees consistently wiping things down and cleaning as they worked, which weirdly made me trust the sanitation here even more. And can we talk about the drink design? These drinks are SO cute. The intentional sticker placement over the lips, the little carrying handle--everything felt carefully stylized. You could tell they weren't just trying to make something flavorful, but something memorable and visually fun. I never thought I'd say a drink was Instagram-worthy, but these felt like the supermodels of the boba world. Even the receipt paper somehow felt luxurious (yes, I'm seriously mentioning receipt paper in a boba review). That tiny detail made me realize how intentional every aspect of this place feels. Nothing here felt accidental. Dong Ding Oolong Tea w. Fresh Milk - Very mild and creamy, almost like a mellow latte. Not my personal favorite, only because I had eaten way too much creamy food beforehand, but I genuinely loved the tea profile here and could absolutely see why others would adore this drink. High Mountain Pouchong Tea w. Lemon Juice & Mousse (Creamy Lemon Tart) - After all the sugar I had earlier in the day, this absolutely HIT the spot. The tartness was perfect and super refreshing. The cream had little bits of lemon zest mixed in, adding even more citrus aroma and making the drink feel brighter overall. I also tried adjusting the sweetness while ordering and was told it had built-in sweetness--but they reassured me that if it ended up too sweet, they'd gladly swap it for another drink. I genuinely felt like I was dealing with Amazon's generous return policy. Thankfully, no return was needed because this drink was perfect. Creamy Mango Tart - Literally the Lemon Tart, but mango. I loved this just as much. Both tart drinks felt refreshing and balanced, and instantly became fan favorites for us. Overview--I love, love, LOVE this place. Like... 1000/10 levels of love. From the experience to the drink quality to the sheer intentionality behind every detail, I couldn't be happier with this visit. I'm also ridiculously happy to hear one recently opened in Houston because I would LOVE to bring my cousins here someday. Would go back in a heartbeat--this has officially won the spot for my favorite boba place.

The honey tea latte was great too, it was light and refreshing. The drinks took about 15 minutes to come out, which is perfectly okay, because they actually brew the tea instead of using a pre-made powder mix like most boba shops. The jellies added just enough sweetness to make the drink more enjoyable without overpowering it. Since we ordered everything at lower sweetness, that little boost made a noticeable difference. Once properly mixed, the salted crema elevated the drink even more. It added dimension and somehow lifted the entire flavor profile, making everything taste fuller and more cohesive. Pandan, Pandan, Pandan -- I liked the flavor, but I felt like the 25% sweetness dulled some of the pandan's impact. It ended up tasting almost like a gentler, blander matcha -- which, honestly, I didn't mind since I'm not always a fan of matcha bitterness. Let's Go Ski -- easily my favorite of the night. The sweetness was mellow and balanced, and the winter melon flavor really stood out in the best way. Winter melon can sometimes lean overly artificial, but this one tasted just right. Like the Jaded, the salted crema worked wonders here when mixed properly. The way it accentuated the drink genuinely elevated the entire flavor profile without overwhelming the mellow sweetness. The boba here was absolutely perfect texture-wise -- chewy with just the right bite. It wasn't as sweet as I expected boba to be, but honestly, that worked in its favor. Sometimes, less sweetness lets you focus more on the actual flavor of the drink instead of the toppings stealing the spotlight. My best friend actually went back for another drink before the night ended and chose the Taro-Zo Matcha at 25% sweetness. Taro-Zo Matcha -- we absolutely loved the subtlety of this drink. We both agreed it tasted even better once mixed properly, and whatever they use as the base for their ube crema is honestly addictive. It added this creamy richness that made the drink incredibly easy to keep sipping. To put it into perspective: between the three of us, the drink lasted all of two minutes before it completely disappeared.

Even so, the ambience seems like the decorations were cute, but very cheap and damaged overtime with little to no repairs. But I didn't come here for aesthetics. I came here for great Boba tea and sweet treats. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. What looked like a traditional milk toast dessert, was literally four pieces of stale bread, toasted and stacked on top of each other. that tasted freezer burnt with lots of sauce on top. No topping between each layer so it was not flavorful or tasty and all you could taste was a weird chemical flavor from the bread. Same thing with the ice cream, so freezer burnt that it tasted of chemicals, cardboard, and didn't even melt despite sitting on the plate for 15+ minutes. The Taro tea itself was fine with the crème brûlée topping, but the brown sugar Boba had the same chemical "going bad" flavor to it. It was super hard and bitter tasting instead of sweet. The soufflé pancakes were fine, but the ice cream was terrible on that too. It's hard to mess up Ice Cream, but somehow they managed.

That alone made it a great find, but what made the experience even better was discovering that they also had live entertainment on Tuesday night until 11. The brownie was delicious, the coffee was exactly what I wanted, and the overall atmosphere made the price feel justified.
