Well, first the crusty bread was so delicious and I'm not sure what spices are used in Cuban cooking, but this one made the chicken a bright orange. It was incredible! The food is incredible! It's pretty authentic and absolutely delicious- Cumming doesn't get a lot of restaurants like this! So we as a community definitely need to stand by CoCo's. Their Cuban sandwich is their best thing on the menu, by far. When they first opened a few years ago the service was SO SLOW. And still today it will take a while to get your food. But it's well worth the wait. Also, you can always order for take out 30 minutes before you need it! The staff is friendly. You definitely have a community/home vibe there. Oh! Expect long waiting time. It took them 30 mins to serve our food. Service is pretty bad. The place was almost full, about 8 out of 11 tables full. Two tables left because they didn't even get the menus in 10mins they waited. No excuse Food was not good at all. We ordered the Arroz con Pollo (chicken with rice) and although it look good the chicken was extremely dry. Also ordered the stake sandwich and half of the stake was just Chewy fat. But the biggest question inspired by the sandwich that I received from this particular location..... was !?where's the meat?! Though the sandwiches ingredients were fairly good individually, I was wondering where the rest of the sandwich went? Good bread, great cheese, the ham was good but exceptionally scarce on the pork! I think it's pretty bad that the Vortex restaurant found in Atlanta offers a fuller Cuban sandwich than an actual Cuban restaurant. Nice little restaurant in strip mall off Hwy 20. All the food is made fresh so expect a slight wait for your entrees but it's delish. CoCo Cuban in Cumming! Who'd thunk it? Anyway my wife and I were on our way home from Gibbs. The plan was a late lunch at a German establishment in Cumming, however they closed at 2pm. Both rather hungry we punched in "Restaurants / Current" and up came CoCo's! Well, that and others. So, being folks who like Cuban food we said "Let's giver a shot" My wife is much more disciplined than I, but then again she is a Registered Dietitian, so as usual she ordered the Vegetarian sandwich with Black Beans an White Rice. The plan was to take half home, however I looked over and it was all gone. The response was A) I was hungry and B) it was very good! As for me I fell off the diet wagon! The order: Masita's de Cerdo with Black Beans and White rice along with the Tostones starter. The Tostones were good, give the a 3.5. Being "in the sauce" vs., having it on the side creates a garlic hit that could make Dracula squeal. Next comes the Masita's HOLY LUUUUUUUCY IM HOME!!!! All I can say is the best I have had outside Miami. Step 1: Take rice and part evenly forming a nice little tub Step 2: Take beans and pour into Tub. Step 3: Take Masita's and drop the whole plate evenly around rice and beans with the drippings spread evenly as well. CHOW DOWN! Outstanding!!! Again, the best I have had in a very long time. Coco's is a decent Cuban restaurant. Don't go in expecting a fantastically detailed menu however. It is plain and simple Cuban food. The food is good and plentiful and well prepared. The black beans and rice are very well done. My favorite here is the chicken sandwich, although they do make a great Cuban sandwich as well. Grab an espresso before you leave. It will wire you for the next four hours and be very tasty to boot. read more

We started with the Tostones with chicken at the recommendation of our server. The plantains seemed under-cooked and had a very waxy/dryness about them. The chicken had no flavor. The fried pork chunk dish was disgusting. The pork was served in a bowl of what was supposed to be Mojo, but I got a bowl full of oil instead. Again, no flavor. Just pork swimming in oil. The tilapia, shrimp and mussels dish was decent. The tilapia was very soft and flavorful, as were the shrimp. The mussels were fishy. But overall a decent dish. It's been a while since I've had Cuban food and it looks like unless something else opens up nearby, it'll be a while before I have it again. read more

Pretty average really. I had the shredded chicken entree and tried an empanada. And then had a pineapple fresco (which is really a can of pineapple soda). Totally misled there. It was all just really forgettable. I make way better rice and beans at home. And their chicken was overcooked thigh meat in a salt heavy broth. The empanada was like an overcooked wonton. I love this place. This is my go to place in Cumming and eat here at least once a week. My family and I have had everything on the menu multiple times and the owner is probably the most consistent cook I have had the pleasure to dine with. I am always torn between the Testones or the Madras and some time have to order both. The house salad is great and every single main dish is fantastic, just order and enjoy. I get the Cuban Coffee most of the time and it is the real deal. Supper strong with a ton of sugar. The Flan is very nice but not as good as my Wife's. We eat Afrocaribian at home s lot and Coco's is the closest thing to home I can find anywhere. The only issue we ever experiance is that when it gets busy, they have a hard time keeping up in the kitchen and the wait can be quite a drag.
